Cinder found himself in the crowded downtown market away from most of the city bustling; the place was packed with many despite this. The brightly colored stalls were decorated with fall motif and vendors shouted amonst the crowd trying to draw in customers with the latest items and freshest of ingredients.

Making his way with a handcart from the Salvage Yards he looked around for the stand he was loyal to.

A convention of people mostly window shoppers and the curious spender. He was happy; one thing the elf loved was spending money and buying things. He hadn?t a big list today all he came here for was oranges and lemons a particular item that would be most hard to find with the seasons change.

"Drafseth! I declare it!? He mumbled to himself in Ferishan. As he stopped at the produce stand he normally gets such items from. Fortune shined upon him as they still had a few sacks left.

"If you would five oranges, five lemons, and eh.... two limes". He grinned though limes weren?t what he came here for he opted for a few. What dark and sinister plans had he with all this citrus?

"Right away, Cinder". The grocer individually bagged the assorted citrus. And placed it on the counter. "That will be twenty, sir".

Cinder handed over the money as he then caught the attention of something else. "Would that be all?" The man tapped his fingers on the counter looking at the elf spying something else. "Ah I want twenty four Pumpkins"! Cinder exclaimed a bit loudly making a few people turn to look then go about their routine.

"Ah, yes, of course it is that time of year isn't it"? The grocer smiled and helped him load up the handcart. They exchange hands and Cinder paid for the pumpkins he then waved heading back to the Salvage Yards. The autumn for him brought about new direction as many elven and human holidays collided and the upstart of a new salvage season would pick up and he would remain quite busy. He smiled picking up a brightly colored red leaf off the ground; he tucked it in his shirt pocket and continued on his way.

"This will be the grandest re opening yet". He grinned to himself once more.

He sat about his office shuffling through the papers quickly as he made off in all directions at once. He, accompanied by Delliah and a long push cart with wheels. Passing by the postman he made the exchange of his evelopes. A breif nod, something was fishy about the relationship between the postal worker and the retired wizard. Yes, indeed, something undoubtedly aloof. What dark plans await at the end of this transaction. What are the contents of these envelopes?

For now let us see what unfolds next.

The streets of Rhydin were filled with the aroma of a very special concotion indeed. The fragrant notes of spices played a silent melody into the air which aroused the senses. Men and women, children everyone could find this scent...alluring.

Cinder, the Elven man which runs the Salvage yards rarely made public appearances only when he would go into town to buy goods at the markets or to have a drink at his favorite pub.

Sure enough he came pushing a simple wooded cart with a metal drop in tray which held a large cauldron, firestones glowing slowly about the bars. Beside the cauldron was a few baskets with various baked sweets, candied yams wrapped in foil with cinnamon sugar, and fresh butter. Jolly Breads, made with crystallized ginger and cranberries. Underneath a few jugs of awaited to fill up the cauldron.

He stopped the cart in the middle of the city, he pulled up a stool and stood on top of it looking around.

"Peoples of this Country".

He took the ladle in the pot and stirred some as he poured the first cup.

"The Salvage Yards enjoyed a triple season, many have employed us to undertake your needs out and about the sea. I want to thank anyone who had used us in the past hundred years, truly if the McKennitt boys, John and Peter were still with us they would be most gracious. I hope I am running the place as they would have liked. As a token of my appreciation and the anniversirary of the Salvage Yards, please, enjoy some Gluhvine, candied yams and Jolly breads".

Delliah just stood there watching the crowd grow. She purred softly as some children came by curious of the exotic snowy cat.

Cinder passed out several cups of spiced wine, with wedges of citrus and cinnamon stick. He poured himself a cup as well, the warm drink had a potion effect. The troubles and coldness of ones heart could thin, if only for a moment.

Holding up his cup. "As for this seasons re opening, I wish to make a new additon onto the Salvage Yard Family, there will be an unveiling tomorrow evening, all are welcome and more wine and treats will be served. Also, the historic Destiny is now open for tours. Please see the office for details". He drank and others did too. It was a rare treat to be so openly kind to the citizens of Rhy'Din but truly he was just like them, hard working trying to get by.

His Jolly Breads were a special curiosity, one of the few Ferishan foods many Rhydinians had yet to try, they instantly loved it, and he knew. A grin crossed whis face as he bit into one himself.

After four days of festivities and partying. The Season was taking well, so well in fact that our dear Ferishan had lost himself once more into his work. The salvage yard was underway once more. The place was filled with the same enthusiasm, as it had been the first opening day. Balloons were tied secure to the gates, next to the gates Cinder put one of his infamous signs up.

"Do not let the balloons loose, they will go into the sea and creatures will mistake them as food and die".

The cart of Gluhvine was still there in fact another one was present, the Jollybreads and candied yams too. The yards had opened up it's tour of the "destiny " and all went according to plan, people came, enjoyed the attraction and festivities. Of course he never intended to do this just for money, it was a newer side of himself or more or less an older one. Still the tacky souvenirs he had setup sold, people would buy almost anything.

Typing away at the typewriter a newly bought one at that. "There you go". Drawing it up from the mechanical arms, which held it neatly as he pushed up the bar. He handed the paper slip to Donald Wilton Greaves, a new investor and previous partner in the world trade union.

"Ah, yes well as always we can't be expecting the best but as always you somehow to mange by a thread Cinder". He folder the paper neatly into his briefcase and extended his hand.

"It's been so many years since then, as I may be getting old. I'd advise you to do the same as I old friend. You need a vacation, you'll work yourself into a grave one of these days". He chuckled and coughs as he nodded to the man behind him. It was Steven Greaves. He was young and bright a handsome man much like his father had been once.

"Thank you Cinder, I know dad has a keen sense for business but there is a fondness he has for the likes of you. I hope that you consider our other offers if you feel inclined, pay us a visit". Steven shook Cinder hand and smiled some looking at a box beside the elf on the desk.

"What are those"?

"Ah, sadly one of my souvenirs didn?t sell as I thought they would. It's supposed to be an action figure of me. I was thinking of making a salvage yard play set...kids would have liked it. Here". Cinder hands one to Steven.

He chuckled some looking at the plastic elf in his hands, it looked like cinder except they forgot to paint eyebrows on the face and the hair was the wrong color. "Thanks".

Cinder nodded and opened the door for them as the son pushed his fathers wheelchair out the door. They returned to their coach waving. The elf retuned the wave and headed over to the ?Destiny?. He looked upward at the Galleon and nodded. Pouring himself a warm cup of Gluhvine and smiled some, his crew finished up unloading the ?Sea song?.

?Cinder?! Bessie jogged over to him and pointed at the cargo bay doors.

Cinder turned around and looked wide eyed at the doors and what was being unloaded.

Again once more he gazed at the bay doors opening to which the crew hauled out.

"By the storms eyes"!

He coughed a bit as he headed over to assist them with the cargo.

Onto a dolly they all carefully eased it down. The heavy industrial crane did most the work. It was a precious lot indeed. The object in question was of course an ancient vessel, suitable of carrying a person across the depths of the ocean. As Cinder had surmised, it was where the ancient text said the lost city was once found. Buried beneath the sea. 22.4 Kilometers off the coast of Avalon.

"Lemuria". The elf whispered to him self as he closed his eyes feeling the burning sensation within his heart.

"How much does it weigh, 600 no 800 stones"?

"764.6 stones. What do you plan on doing with it and what is it anyways"? Bessie spoke up after hoping off the crane and looked down from the Sea Song.

"Ah, in due time friends".

He returned to the office in much better spirits despite the persistent coughing.

Finishing up another letter on his typewrite looking at the pictures to the sides of his desk. He wondered if he too was thought about during their busy lives. People drifted away while others remained tight and others had no choice but to be parted. He smiled faintly and fondly at them for a moment taking a sip from his coffee mug. He took out his stamp and marked each paper and then folded them neatly into an envelope.

Gazing outside the window as his crew secured the vessel and two forklifts positioned themselves before it. He smiled once more, and returned to his work.

"All's done. What now to do"?

He coughed stirring the phlegm in his throat. Despite all things he was growing terribly ill hiding things was his favored attribute. He took a sip herbal medicines and man made drugs from his coffee mug once more. He sighed heavily walking over to the door of the office; he pushed open the screen door and locked it in place. There was no need to keep the screen in, the weather was getting cold. He replaced the screen with the storm window, carefully screwing in the bottom screws, they were stripped but kept up, and perhaps next time he will replace them.

He wrapped his arms around himself and inspected his projects in the warehouse behind the office.

The sun as always in autumn silently faded, almost too soon to get much needed work accomplished. The warm fiery colors bled off the canvas skies as a brillant pink crowned in purples took a bow to the moon.

Cinder sat quietly in his office with Bessie the lead personnel of his crew, if he wasn't around she was the boss, in some ways they were glad he was. Bessie was more of a firecracker than Cinder would ever be.

"14,000.00. I cannot help but feel so clever, taking up the advertisement advice. With profits from that and this season?s lineup we will be over my expectations for this quarter. I believe with a little more luck we can change the future of this country or at best separate ourselves from it's impending doom". Cinder sipped his coffee and set it down handing over a paper to her.

"Doom? How do you mean? This is the new ship from Midgar?" She poured his cup as he set it down.

"Aye doom. Not that I'm expecting the worst but things have been slow in the country, the governments thumb slurs the economy. There isn't much hope for the commoner to succeed if times get worst than as they are. It's why I've been a transferring fund, re investing into the company. Established ties with new sponsors." He smiled out the window, the ships in the yard taking on more solid black shapes at the sky folded into it. The lights outside turned on just as he turned his attention back to her.

"As for the new ship, yes. Le Sarah de. l'algue. She will be a fine addition to my collection".

"Ah, yes, I meant to say congrats to you and your new wife, we are surprised to hear you got married".

Cinder nodded looking at his wedding ring as he clutched his coffee mug once more. He took a sip a grin pursed at his lips as he took a sip.

"Yes, it is a bit surprising, still I enjoyed it. Simple things you know. As for the ship it should arrive in a few months, I want everyone on staff when it comes into port". He stopped in sentence and opened up an envelope. He seemed bothered by the first glance of it and returned his eyesight to her. "As for now I want you and everyone to take off early. I need some time alone". His demeanor changed from jovial to disturbed.

"Yes, okay." She stood and heading outside. She paged on the intercom for everyone to finish up their work and head home for the day.

Cinder sipped his coffee and stared for several moments at a piece of parchment.

"It cannot be".

She stirred the Red conccotion in the cauldron and poured herself a cup heading to the gate. Showing the gate gaurd her identification. A breif nod and she was allowed inside, she passed Bessie, Nails and Simon.

"Still working for sawdust Bessie". She grined

"Ay an be worth a heafty load that sawdust these days". She smiled back and headed out the gate.

"What does that mean"? She said silenty to herself. The place was rather different. She sipped the cup.

"This is wine? Blaugh! I think not"..... She tossed the cup aside spilling the rest on the ground.

He opened the office door and then the storm door after several moments watching her through the window. Silently he crept up behind her.

"Hello Red".

He smiled, already backing away in attempt to avoid any physical contact. It was to late she grabbed him as she sat on top of the elf, pinning him on the cold concrete.

"Hello yourself, you know better than to surprise me silly". She pinched his nose as she got up and helped him up.

"Cinder, what is all this"?

"I'm afraid I don't know what you are talking about". He coughed some.

She pointed to the signs, balloons and various food vendors stands erected about. She then eyed the new wedding ring on his finger as he blew his nose.

"Ah, It?s just a small plan to draw in more business, it's working. Tours of the restored Destiny doesn't hurt to brings some nostalgia into the hearts of the community, no?"

Clearly there was more to it than that but for now she accepted what he was saying was all there was. They both headed into the office; Cinder returned to his chair and held up the paper. He needed somebody, and currently he felt she was the one to assist him. He handed it over to her.

?Read it. Perhaps you can assist me in this matter". Cinder turned around pouring him self some more medicines made from extracts of cannabis, ink weed, cloves, mountain laurel, and wormwood. Mixing it into his tea he turned back around, not often does one see Rewa in a state such as this. She was pale and shook up from the note.

"It's......". She looked down sliding the paper back to him; she drank some of the blood from the flask Cinder kept on the desk. "I'll help you Cinder". She took a sip and then looked at the old friend.

"You're leaving me, just when I return to this place. Kristae would have slapped some sense into you...May haps your new wife should".

Red stood turning back to him in the doorway.

"Meet me at my place when you want my help. You know Kristae wasn't the only one who loved you". She closed the door behind her and watched him through the window.

He held his head taking a few pills and looked through the paper. "Lemuria".

There wasn?t much agonizing about the pain he felt. The loss for words made up for the fact that he could no longer keep himself here. He closed up the gate; Bessie would know what to do in his absence.

Cinder retreated to the Mirue province. There he would stay on the old farm, visit Kristae's grave once more and prepare for a departure for the Ocean. Delliah would find him, drunk as hell at the local tavern. He wasn?t helping himself get better, but in a way he didn?t care. It was some time since he sang songs of hope, and good times. She dragged him back to the farmhouse. There they stayed for the night and who knows how long. Cinder's condition needed rest, and if he planned on this mission it would require his co-operation.
