Whoa, this is getting big. And it has been suggested to my bran(Kudos, Cailet! and thanks Lowe for brginging home how bloody HUGE this has gotten! ::laughs:: Boy, I had no idea it'd grow this big!) Anyhoo.

It's been suggested that another subfolder be made and apparently this trial-to-be is the catalyst. So, I'm sticking a poll up here to see how many'd think the idea's a good'un for not just now but the future.

--Update. Poll's run its course, so it's vanishing. The rest of this little thread isn't and when it's all said and done, it might very well migrate to Clam Chowder. Until then, it's here.

While the case of Horaetio Renne Arc'err is in its preliminary stages, and it may all end in a plea bargain or some other way before it goes to trial, I'd like to ask anyone interested in playing a judge and jury to reply to this.

What I'm looking for in a judge:

Preferably someone unattached to Renne, DCH, Harry and his lot, or anyone else in this case. Tall order, I know! But please consider it if you're interested in being the final say on a case.

I would love to have someone who either knows something of how trials proceed, or who's willing to learn on the fly. Someone who understands motions and objections and whatnot would be awesome.

Someone unbiased and capable of being absolutely objective, weighing the evidence and testimonies of the case and not personal feelings.

What I'm looking for in a jury:

Likewise, twenty people (twelve and then eight alternates) who are unattached to any of the other people mentioned above.

A jury doesn't need to understand the legalities, but jurors should be able to debate amongst themselves to come to a unanimous decision (given that this is a trial for murder) and who are willing to weigh the evidence.

Ultimately, trials take a long time IRL and will IC. That means that aside when your charrie's in the courtroom, you're free to keep on playing them so long as you're willing not to allow them to go forming biases based on outside opinions. It's going to be a public trial, though, so just talking about what happens is acceptable... so long as it doesn't interfere with objectivity. Court dates will be coordinated so that as many people as possible can attend from all sides, and logs will be posted for jurors who can't attend at any given time.

Mind you, I'm not asking anyone for a commitment unto death or anything. And it will be some time down the road before (even if) this trial goes ahead. So, let me know if you're interested, either in this thread or via PM to Clerk of Courts, and I'll give you e-cookies or lots of love.

Thanks.

This notice is gonna likewise be crossposted to Mutual Endeavors, in order to sample the largest possible base of Rhy'Din FFRPers.

Thus far, in the trial:

DCH notified of court appointed obligations
Prosecutor appointed
Two witness interviews (Malcolm, Sahib)
Several tapes reviewed (Tapole, Merit & Rena, tapes of rages or general observation)
Two assessment sessions with Renne by Elena Dumova
Fact finding -- some parties still being searched for (Ranyor, Merit, Rena, Zonker, plus perhaps more)
One potential judge found (on Mutual Endeavors)
Two potential jurors found (one on ME, one on RDI/DM)

Still seeking 18 jurors! Please, if you're not attached to the people involved and can remain objective and judge the case based solely on the facts/evidence/otherwise, feel free to apply; just PM Clerk of Courts or reply to the thread. We're going to work this trial so that even if you can't actually attend it, jury members will get to read the full logs which is just about as good.

So some wrenches have been thrown into the works. But that's okay. It happens. Rivers have cataracts but they have calm spots too. Which means, though said wrenches have tweaked things a bit, I still intend on the trial to go forward. Why? Mainly because Renne's now quite determined. And because frankly, it just has to happen.

So! Jurors? Lawyer/s? Judge? Searching again and if anyone from the first try is still interested, drop me a PM.

Worst-case scenario is handling this thing with NPC's but I'm determined to do this right. As right as humanly possible. Why? I want it done right and if anyoen has more know-how than me with legal proceedings, talk to me.
Gonna do this right.
Hoping for a bright (or at least brighter) ending.
But gonna do this right regardless.

Just an update.
