I?ve lingered here for much too long,

Soon the darkness will fade and bring forth the dawn.

My long rusty head flows with the wind,

The sun beats coldly on my pale white skin.

These sorrows I tell to the expiring moon,

I whisper softly on the edge of my doom.

My heart has waned as the new age bellows,

From the sun in the skies it?s oranges and yellows.

The green of the earth does turn brown and spoils,

With the falling world the sea starts to boil.

The sky is the last one to reign,

Soon it shall bend and nothing shall remain. - M.K.V.

"But I?".

He folded his book and sighed after reading that line.

?My dear Kristae? I will join you when it is time, I am sorry I keep you waiting so long? It?s this time that I must endure. I have been honest and given you my devotion?. He stood wiping the rain from his brow and set the book away into his void. He sat at the edge of Kristae?s open grave.
He whispered softly to her stone. ?You know I love you?.

Cinder unfolded the bloody cloth taking his left arm from it; his face saddened looking to his wedding ring. It gleamed brilliantly wrapped around his pale dead finger. He looked over to his left shoulder and followed it down to the stump of flesh before the elbow.

?I give you this arm of mine to you. Take my hand, don?t let go.
Our lives were severed but not our bond, one day the rest of me will join you. I will follow you into the new world, I promise this. If you have not waited for me, I can understand.
I have been a terrible being; many times I would have made you upset had you still been alive.
Yours and Delliah?s Christmas thing is coming up which means our anniversary as well if you were still alive. Delliah and I will give you beautiful flowers, better than last year. I hope you may forgive me when we meet again?.

Delliah frowned looking to him, she felt lost when he was sad.

He started to cry, he kissed his wedding ring and dropping his arm into the open soil, he prayed silently all the while the wind flushed his face. He stood in the cold but was warm with tears. Delliah?s fur sleeked across her body giving her a long thin feral appearance. He covered the grave up once more, Delliah helping him; she understood his pain for she too was severed of Kristae. A familiar, a daughter also loses heart.

?Thre pronista dherast Delliah, chevu?? Cinder stroked Delliahs face and kissed her wrapping his arm around her. She licked his cheek smiling but with a great sorrow for her father..

?Come, let?s go back you're going to catch cold, Jilo sensta??
He nodded and followed Delliah slowly back to the path home.

Reverse Reveries Two: An Ordinary Day, Passing Of Flowers

A man, dressed in a simple black buttoned shirt and distressed looking dark blue denim sat at the counter. His heair was pulled back, wet and smelled like the ocean. His long pointed ears stood out for he was the only patron with them. He handed the counter top back the now the empty glass and licked the last of the beer from his lips.
He grinned softly tasting the salt from his skin, why only an hour or so ago he had been surf fishing. The cold wind and howl of the sea, and nice ocean bass he had caught. It had been a few days since he buried his arm, he didn?t feel like himself, he wasn?t sure why he had bothered to come back. He figured that warm black ale would sooth his thoughts.

Leaving a tip the quiet man turned from the chair. The bar master thanked him and he nodded waving over his shoulder taking his fur lined coat from the rack beside the door. He slipped out and warmed his hand in his breath. The snow fell like a memory slow and comforting. The sun glistened in his direction; it was saying farewell for the day has ended.
?Dandelions, just like this snowfall?why do I think of Dandelions? Have I forgotten something??

He picked up his fishing gear he had leaning beside the pub, his fishing pole a sturdy tool of eight feet and a green box where he housed his tackle. His catch of the day rested atop the green box wrapped in a canvas cloth.

Trotting down the muddy path his bare feet once more become dirty with wet earth. He paused at the peddler near the glassblowers, a young human girl about sixteen she was selling flowers. She wore a simple scarf covering her hair from the light snow, something about her golden hair and soft face reminded him of somone he was once married to. He smiled waving hello, he knew her mother if this was the same cart he could recall. She used to sell the flowers here as well, he wondered where she had gone and he didn?t bother to ask. Time passes he thought.

?One sunflower please, and a bouquet of champagne roses?. He smiled and paid for the roses and the sunflower. She looked at the money, she hesitated she knew the flowers did not cost that much. He was already walking away she bowed in thanks. ?Season?s Blessings and a good day to you?.

He turned to smile taking his hat off with his right hand it was customary to do so with the left in this region but as this man had no way of doing such he was forgiven. ?Thank you child, and to you the same?. He smiled and continued on the journey. She first thought he was familiar but remembered this man she was thinking of had two arms as she recalled.

The man climbed down a tower of stones steps build into the earth. A row of oaks and a small iron gateway opened up into a cemetery. There was a grave, not real old nor was it new. The stones here held the memory of many seasons, the visitors and the times of day. It held a love and friendship for this man; he always seemed so warm once he passed the gate yet so sad. He set the roses down beside the Christian grave and paused to watch some people in the distance as they sent flowers to their loved ones. He nodded and prayed for a moment quietly to himself, he touched his lips with his hand and then rested them up on the edge of the grave for a moment.

He turned and walked back the way he came and then turned to the hills climbing up onto the reach. There he stopped turning around to stare down at the valley, he saw the town Alesblot which he had just left and then turned to the small farmhouse up on the hill below near a meadow. Had it been spring it would have been vibrant with wildflowers. He turned around once more and walked over to an aged oak nestled within the fading winter?s sun he came to the edge of some neatly rowed stones. At the end of the bed a few scattered sunflowers dried and old. They hung at the base of this stone, a necklace draped itself around the cross at the top of the stone, it was much like the one this man wore. He bowed quietly and left. He wanted to say something to the grave but he witheld it, whatever it was he didn't want to ruin what had happened. He then thought of the flowergirl and shook his head smiling.

Walking back home he was reminded of a feild, dandelions were blowing in this feild, suddenly many of them shot up into the air then slowly danced back down. He saw blood and heard screaming for a moment then his flashback was gone. He looked into the sun and shook free of this haunt.

He wiped his bare feet at the steps of a log cabin style farmhouse and shook free some frost from the burgundy mums beside the door, they held up pretty good he thought. The pumpkins too still served well as decoration even the one that was carved had aged well. He set his fishing pole and gear beside the bench on the porch and he unlocked the door closing it behind him. He sat the fish down for a moment on the straw doormat to hang his coat on the wall and then his hat to the next hook over. He slid off his trousers and pulled on a dry pair that was warming beside the fireplace. Walking back to the door, he caught a glimpse of the birdfeeder at the window beside the couch, no birds in sight.

He bent over picking up his catch of the day and headed to the kitchen, he dumped it in the sink unraveling it from the cloth. He ran the water slightly then sliced the fish open. Pulled the guts out and cut the ends off setting them aside on a plate. He picked at the eyes, and sucked on them leaving the sockets. They were sweet and salty like grapes; he clearly liked the taste as he smacked his lips in satisfaction. Licking his lips one last time he tossed the forgivables onto a plate and left it on the steps outback, he figured that gray fox he saw hanging around here a few days ago would be appreciative. Taking the fillets he wrapped them up neatly on a plate and into the fridge.

?Today was a good day, peaceful and ordinary?why aren?t I enjoying days like these??. He smiled pouring himself a glass of wine and walked back into the living room.
He sat on the couch and watched autumn give in to winter. He noticed spruce needles on the floor and only suspected it was her doing once again. He thought it was too early for a tree.
He shruged in the sofa with a smile taking a sip of the wine. His birdfeeder outside spun around suddenly as something perched onto it; he smiled as a brightly colored cardinal came into view. He closed his eyes resting in the wake of a good day. ?That is more like it friend?.

Reverse Reveries Three: Dark Matter.

Cinder adjusted himself in the old worn recliner beside the fireplace, the fire crackled and hissed like basilisk?s hunger. He too was hungry for something, the past. He was bothered by his dreams the same over and over, flashes of dandelions floating in the air and blood streaked across his hands. A cold wet feeling run through his spine. He saw their home...

He took a sip of wine and stared at the fire for a moment, he wondered when would it end, would he be happy once he discovered what he had forgotten. He sighed, he had been withdrawn from Rewa and Delliah and the children he had been keeping to himself, and nobody knows where he had gone. He thumbed through his Book of knowledge, a collection of the past, and glimpses of possibilities. He found a sketch of a dandelion but nothing more, written below was 1310 under the image.

?What does it mean? Thirteen Ten??

He turned the page and read the next hoping there was something of use.

That night I forgotten many things about my past, I?d never be an innocent child. If only my love hadn?t gone?Ferish were never taught to hate nor love humans, in my world they simply did not exist. In this mirage of times, I fell in love with a human girl. I watched her slowly I watched her curiosity grow in the world around her. I watched her mature like a butterfly from its earthly state and take flight, beautiful.

In my own world there too lived a woman, another spot on my heart?s surface yet she drowned in the pages of my own misery a chameleon of deceit now?I cannot even remember her name. I wish I was someone who would forget, turn off the lights of my desire and my end.

This one here in this new world, this land of forsaken... she is a woman, she eyes me cautiously. I wonder why she stares at me and smiles. Perhaps I shall ask her name, even though I know of it. I would like to get to know this Kristae, she is someone I desire. I was not aware I could desire a woman again let alone a human. I loved her and that was it for me. We were immediate lovers. She had said she always watched me from when she was a little girl; she knew who I was way back then. She knew one day she may grow old and pass on before me, when that time comes I would like to give up my stay in this world?to grow old with the one I love is all I want.

He smiled nodding and poured his glass once more. ?Yes that?s true; it?s all I ever wanted?.

He set the book aside unable to find what he was looking for, it made him look further down at himself, he knew he wasn?t like other people, like other elves.

?My plans were just to grind a steadiness and hold in this world. Kristae? you would not now support the path I have chosen. I abandoned you and my wish to grow old with you. I searched for a wy to go home, I tried to revive you, I murdered your father in revenge, I drink myself numb. If you did return I'd hate you now for my suffering... I lack the skills, a chewing of knowledge, absorbing the reels of time. I swore I'd be in your grasp shortly?my lie to you of many lies. Forgive me but I doubt I can ever go where you have gone If ever was I there I may just betray you...

Perhaps it was written that Id would be the one to betray my own heart, my goddess taught me failure? perhaps it?s natural for me to fail and betray you too. I know I will betray myself I lie to myself all the time, there is no more a home for me there of here, I wish to kill myself?.

Reverse Reveries: Betrayal

Rewa slipped out of the bed looking at the sleeping elf, she smiled at him then fled the bedroom with a vampire?s grace. Closing the door softly behind her, Cinder grinned as she left. Red wandered into the study and fetched the bag of stones, taking up the Rhy?Din City stone she vanished.

An hour later?

Rewa finished her last prey of the night and stood in the old stone churchyard. She dumped her body there and took his remaining money. She smiled licking the side of her lips and cat pawing her hand to her mouth in satisfaction. Taking the stone once more from her pocket she vanished from the city of Rhy?Din, returning to Mirue, Safe and warm or so she thought. She brushed her cheek against the fireplace and smiled warmly; the living room was spare save for what would be the beginning of the holidays. An evergreen was fixed into position beside the loveseat adjacent to the couch. She smiled remembering the day Delliah dragged it into the house despite Cinder?s complaints. She knew he could not refuse the wishes of Delliah for they were the same as Kristae?s would have been this time of year.

She took off her coat and hung it on the back of the rocking chair and sat carefree on the couch. To herself for a change she tried some of the mint chews Cinder had bought as they went itnot town the other day. They were stored in a neat little glass candy jar shaped like a holly leaf. Her mouth lingered with the savory taste of human blood and the sweet burning of peppermint oil. Hearing something she casted her attention to the steps. She smiled pleased at the sight before her. Cinder appeared from the steps; soon they would be decorated like ghosts she thought. He sat beside her and licked the remaining blood from her lips, in disgust he should have known better

?Do you know no ends. I gave you things here? was it not enough??
?Pardon??
?Nothing? would you care to drink from this human form?? He turned into Jennifer.

She blushed pushing Jennifer away ?You know the answer to that, you are what you are. No matter your appearance or names. Your heart your blood is poison a wintery scene, unforgiving. I?d fallen for you but I know better than to drink of your blood.? She placed her hand on Jennifer?s breasts then traced her finger?s to her lips. ?You tempt me still? this I cannot deny? this form of yours. It is my fault for having feelings for you. It is not so innocent to love you and your true form?why are you being so peculiar? How cruel you must truly be to want to end your life and mine?.

Cinder turned back into hiself and snatched her hand and threw it away. ?What do you know of it, of me?
My purpose is unknown?you know my reasons?I cannot find myself anymore, any longer... I?ll fail I?ll never love you or anyone else in this world which was once like a dream.
I am a Kalveas?humans called me Elf solitary Ferish named Rvheressa, the name of a dead fire, a Cinder. I am a Cinder? my world is my own, my heart a dead fire now too. You?ve wished to dig it up, go forth you now take my wedding ring off my rotten hand buried within the earth?! He vanished leaving Rewa alone.

Delliah saw this from the steps and closed her eyes turning away; her sadness understood both of them.

Seiichi held up his grandson away from his mother, Chizuka. She had not been herself as suspected his daughter had become possesed by a demon, he wondered if this had anything to do with the boy's father. He looked at Daiyouji and held him close and left the room. A preist attempted to dispatch the demon from Chizuka but to no avail. She had become something greater than a shinto healer could handle. She growled in anger, in pain and in sadness, tearing a pathway from the paper walls she dispatched the cedar boards on the outside of the house and vanished into the forests.
"Chizuka, my daughter what happened to you? What of this child will he become a demon like you one day or become his father?"

The babe cried and he hurried to his own home to his wife Kanna where they would decide to raise the boy.
