Cinder stirred in the sanctuary, he pushed himself from the desk and turned seeing his body slumped over the table, his hand loose upon a quill. It was so sudden he thought looking at his signature in the guest registry. Myon?s Notebook stored the names of guest who had special permission to visit the deceased it was rare to have a visitor since this place was now unknown hidden deep within the forest of death. It was simply known as Myon?s woods but those who knew wanted to keep people away. Cinder had been given two slots, he just used his last invite up to see her for the first time since she was alive, the other he visited was his mother.

He smiled for a moment and turned away from his body, he looked at himself as he was now, He was pleased to find his ghostly body was intact, his arm was a pair his right and left were united his hair was much longer and his claws were erect as if he did not grind them down, he was very much a Kalveas.
He heard what he expected to hear in this place when one separates from their body. A loud creak and the sudden chime of a grand clock rang in the distance. He drifted through the walls and below the old floors into a room only available to those who were dead. There he came into chamber an old wooden table with faded gold accents, two chairs matched the table, one was occupied by a woman. She was expecting him, she smiled stood and went to embrace him at the steps to a grand door, light gleaming from the cracks.

He was shying unsure what to expect he knew this was brief and there would be not another chance to see her till it was time.
?Where did you go, did you find what it was you were searching for??

He shook his head, it was painful to see her but he needed this and he mustn?t avoid his reason why he came.
?I?m thinking that I did. It?s been a long time. You know why I came??
She smiled and gave him another hug
?You look beautiful in the sunlight Cin, don?t hang under the shade, you?re getting very pale?.

?Yeah I know, it?s all the work and studying I had been doing. I?ve worked so hard? I need a vacation.
Do you remember our trips to Palbadores??

She smiled rubbing his back. ?Of course I do! You know I think we drank too much Sangria that week end. Still it was nice to see that place it was warm, the people were very friendly and laid back. We took a tour of an old market, we tried some interesting foods?.

He nodded. ?I wouldn?t mind going there again with you, we could go there you know to Palbadores, swim in the turquoise oceans with all the colourful fishes. That food was good; I wish I could make those filled bread things. Fishing was good?It was much better than the time we went to Darumni, I hate monkeys?.

She smiled and led him over the doorway. ?I know you didn?t come to reflect on our vacations, Cin? what troubles you? You know I cannot go back there with you and you do not belong in this realm, not yet?.

He hesitated, he turned away, it hurt being alive yet severed from him body, it hurt even worse for the reason why he came. ?I think I would rather stay here with you? besides Delliah has lost faith in me and Rewa, she doesn?t understand that I can love only you. Kristae, won?t you stay??
She placed her hands on him and kissed him softly. ?I think you know the answer to that, I?ll be on the other side waiting for you. So what troubles you dear??

He nodded with a shrug. ?Dandelions ? do they mean anything to you??
She shook her head. ?No, If anything I know you dislike them that is all. You said in your youth you liked them, you loved to kick them up in the air watching the seed pods float like snow?.

?So, I am troubled that is all?.
?Why are you troubled??

?I?ve had dreams more like flashes of memory, dandelions floating down to the ground, blood soaked upon my hands. I can feel the warmth on my fingertips I can hear somebody screaming, it all happens so fast, I don?t know if this is real or just a dream but it troubles me?Kristae??

?Yes??

?When you died?who killed you? Did I??

?If it wasn?t my father then you killed an innocent man, but no? you didn?t kill me if thats what you think nor was my father an innocent man. I am sorry you are haunted by an image such as you described...I hope you find what you are looking for".

She opened the door for him, it was blinding and warm. ?I want you to go through this door, return to our house and be with our family. I want you to be happy, don?t suffer. I know...? She paused even for a ghost she was still fearful of this man he had become.

?I would have lived with you Cin, I would have gone with you and I would have aged. How many years would I have left thirty, forty years? I know that would have been even harder on you and who would you have taken revenge on then, time itself? You already froze time for yourself; it wouldn?t have made a difference for me. I love you please love me and remember me but remember yourself, you make me sad seeing you?I never thought you could hate so much??.

Cinder nodded and kissed her lips and nodding gently against her. ?I am sorry my love, my sweet Kristae. I?ve betrayed you and myself I learned to hate more than I do love?

Forgive me?.

She smiled and held Mistletoe of his head and kissed him. ?I love you Cin, be happy?.

He nodded and passed through the door and was blinded by the light; he came to the building he had faced he would not be allowed to enter, it was over for him, his ticket of entry burned away in his hand. He sighed and looked around, the snow started to fall gently. Christmas was tomorrow his family who anticipated this time must also be worried about him. He followed the path out of the old forest and then the old north road to Alesblot.

He would be going home.

He stopped into the pub halfway to home and had a glass of stout. The place was decorated in pine garland and red candles were hung, the smell of orange spice accompanied the normal tobacco and beer aromas.

William the bartender handed Cinder his usual, a dark brew swirled in the glass with brownish foam. It was strong a nice bold semi sweet bitterness. He nodded to William and took up his stout then smiled to a fellow patron and realized it was Rewa; she had been waiting for him. He moved over to the next seat, she turned to smile at him, he wiped her face. She had been crying, he held her hand and kissed it...?I?m sorry.?
She shook her head smiling into her shots, brandy he thought. He smiled.
?No, I?m sorry?.care to walk a vampire home??

He grinned and nodded; he poured the stout down and got back off the seat leaving a tip on the counter. He headed to door and followed Rewa out.
?How?s my daughter??

?Oh you better have a good gift for her this year?. She poked him playfully?.

They would be going home.

Decorations, Drunks, Darlings and Delusions.

Cinder had come home, he had enough time to change clothes and return to the outside world with Delliah after all the Christmas deer would not fetch itself. He sat calmly in the brush with Delliah, Rewa stayed home baking cookies and bringing down the decorations for when he would come home to have more work to do. Delliah smiled, she was glad he was back, she nodded softly and she slipped into the tall grass padding softly on the snow. Cinder stretched catching the scent his daughter was going for. He grinned, he would love to be the one to get that buck.

The snow fell silently brushing against him as he breathed gently almost to a halt, he clenched his spear in the snow he wasn?t thinking of the hunt as he flashed on dandelions once more. The deer passed him and soon Delliah was right behind, she turned her head for a moment to see him caught in a daze. She gave up and padded over to him licking his hand.
?Father??
He didn?t reply at first so she asked again.

?Huh, what is it??

She sighed the buck was far away now, she frowned. ?Nothing?come let?s go home we have other things to do?.
?What happened to the buck??
?I umm lost him, yeah I don?t know I was thinking of my kids?.
He smiled and placed his hand on her head. ?I think about you a lot to?even though you are a grownup you will always be a child to me dear?.
?Come on old man?. She laughed and raced him home.
The snow was easier on her than him but he made it there in second place.

Hours later?

She smiled from the steps holding in her hands the railing and the felt pine garland which ran up it. The home finally felt warm, the lingering smell of spices and candied fruits permeated through the air, it was comforting. She halted her coming down the stairs to watch Cinder, Delliah and the children. They were at best decorating the home for Christmas, a holiday Cinder cared little of only that it once brought Kristae joy, and still does for his daughter and dear friend Rewa.
The children were pulling apart garland and Delliah was too busy scolding them to be of any help. Cinder couldn?t easily maneuver the tree with his one hand, annoyed once more by uselessness he turned into Jennifer, which was becoming more useful other than a disguise. In this form he managed to tie the rest of the garland back onto the tree with ease, and hung the remainder of the glass ornaments Kristae?s aunt had given to them sixteen years ago, a years later it was then his job to decorate the tree for Delliah. She climbed the top of the ladder and trimmed the tree with the star, brightly colored crystals with glimmering mirrored facets. Many of the other ornaments were even older mostly Halbert heirlooms Kristae was given at her wedding day from her mother on Christmas Eve. The star was newly bought by Rewa since the old one was not really special and it did not light up. Cinder had no silly customs for decorating a tree but he enjoyed this ritual none the less.
Delliah looked to her father in that human form and flashed back to a week ago. Cinder?s holiday had passed, he had tossed himself about a bonfire and sang songs of old, Delliah joined him as a spectator wanting to know more of her father?s holidays. She was even painted with her symbol of her name, something she had never understood. Cinder carried ashes in his hand as the sun set; he danced in circle around the fire shouting in Ferish which was hard for her to make out. At nightfall they hunted, Cinder stripped of his clothes and appearing more like an animal than some elf. He did not shave nor trim his claws at all the previous month. Together they had slain a great elk which they feasted upon its blood and flesh. He was happy, sitting amongst the earth covered in his prey?s blood, his daughter joining him, in not only an ancient rite, but their first hunt together in a year.
He smiled severing the head from the body and stripped it of its horns; he held them in the air above his own. ?I give thanks to this land for offering up one of its beasts for us, this day we drink to her in thanks. Life, which flows in all our veins, those who passed before us we remember them. We give thanks to those who had died who brought us joy. My goddess I praise you and give thanks unto you. It is my goddess who may decide judgment on me; I drink to you too. You allow me happiness in a world where your voice does not echo, you hath given me a world where I had found a wife and have a beautiful daughter and a better hunter than I. I remain in the world of my soul mate my beloved wife and my beautiful and strong daughter and dear friends for this I am grateful. I know I am but a child of you and one day I must forfeit this life that you had given. May you grant me your love and kindness, do not take all of me, let me remain here with Kristae and see her when I die?.

He smiled to Delliah and she smiled. She felt intimidated, Kristae had often taken Cinder and Delliah to church yet this was something entirely different, something hands on.
? Thank you for spending this moment with me Delliah, it means a lot to this old Kalveas. Would you like to say a thanks to the dead, to those who passed on before you?? He patted her gently and nodded.

?Kristae? my mother. We miss you, we will always miss you, I thank you for teaching me and loving me despite my nature. You and Cinder gave me a name, made me your daughter. I am doing good with the promise to look after father. He is tough on me but his eyes are always tender. We both miss you and love you always. Lurie, my godmother? you too are loved and missed by both of us. Thank you Xeflahmarel you were a dear friend of mine and I will never forget you?.

She warmed her face as she came back to reality; she looked up at Jennifer into those amber eyes and saw only tenderness. She smiled.

Rewa

Date: 2008-12-24 22:57 EST
It was Delliah?s and Red?s turn now to make Cinder feel a part of something, if Kristae was here it would have been hers again too... They revived that dying warmth this house had held for the past month. Even though now it had been two and a half months since they returned to Rhy?Din it still felt new on them all once again.

She smiled once more as Delliah turned to look at her and nodded, Jennifer then with rosy cheeks turned to her with a smile, she had been drinking already which was obvious. She wiped a few tears and one for Cinder too, she knew this season wasn?t just a joyful one but sorrow was no stranger either. Kristae died on the New Year. Jennifer smiled softly as she stepped off the stool finishing the star. She was suddenly confronted by Red.

Rewa kissed her and smiled. ?Tuerenswahr??

? Tuerenswafhr, and Merry Christmas Eve to you dear Red?.

Cinder sat down on the couch and returned to his true form, his grandchildren leapt up on the couch to curl up beside him, they purred and softly growled at him as he reached for his glass of Merlot. He then watched out the window for a while, the snow glued to the scenery outside and within the nooks of the window frame itself, white blanketed everything, only faint streaks of blacks and dark greens were visible in the distance marking the forest, the borders of Mirue. The pond and the pavilion were decorated, Delliah and him had gone out earlier to string garland on its roof.

Rewa and Delliah finished up the decorations; they opened the last box of ornaments, and hung the names across the tree: All but Delliah?s children had names on ornaments. Red frowned and Cinder smiled, he also noticed another name was missing. ?Give me some plain ones it?s time to update things isn?t it?. Rewa handed him a few plain glass ball ornaments, he shattered them in his hand and threw the glass dust they made in the air, they reformed onto the tree as ornaments once more, the names of five children appeared all had their own colors.

Cinder held the last ball and nodded. Doing the same to the last one it appeared on the tree. It read Rewa. Delliah and Rewa smiled then joined Cinder who was now watching the birdfeeder, a few scarlet hoods and a lone chickadee fed themselves from the feeder. He took a sip and smiled, it was nice to at the home he had made with Kristae. He set his glass down and gently moved over some, scooping the rest of the children in his lap. Delliah sat next to her father and her children started crawling to her instead save for two children which were dubbed the trouble makers who opened their eyes and decided to play around crawling up Cinder and flaling over the back of the couch.
Rewa sat on the recliner and leaned to the side swiping Cinder?s wine.
?Both of you did a great job, it looks really nice?. Rewa said to break the silence; she stood and took the glass.

?Can I get anyone anything??

?I?ll have a slice of spiced sweet potato pie?. Cinder smiled. ?Nothing for me, thanks Red?. Delliah added closing her eyes comfortably.

She nodded and left to the kitchen which was cluttered with wrapped foods from friends and distant relatives. She twisted the cork off the bottle of Turning River?s Holiday Wine and poured the glass generously and took a sip before slicing a piece of pie. She returned and sat back on the recliner and handed Cinder the pie and the wine, she lost count as to how many glasses he had but was sure the ten empty bottles were not just from him, after all Delliah and herself had some as well.

?Thanks Rewa?.

?Father, when can we open presents?? Delliah grinned opening her eyes for a moment bearing her fangs. She knew she wanted to give him his present early but hesitated after he laughed, she then knew she had to wait. ?Never mind?. She closed her eyes once more and batted her tail in defeat.

?This is a better holiday than last I must say. Are you expecting guests this year?? Rewa popped some mint chews into her mouth and dimmed the table lamp. The tree glowed much more vibrant and she even remained quiet for a moment to appreciate it. Cinder took a bite from the pie, Carolyn had made this especially for him it was a old Irish Family recipe her grandmother handed down to her, luckily it came in handy to give her boss a pie or two as to sway him to extend the off days for the holiday. Of course he would be the only one going to work the day after perhaps.

?Well I am not certain, I did invite Ren and wife to stop by if they wanted, perhaps to share a meal with. I know he celebrates Yule so I thought it right... I am unsure if Vic?te will come he was a bit scared last time we saw him. As for Richard and Elsa they have gone to their grandson?s this year but I have a card for them I?ll drop it off after Christmas. Carolyn said she may stop by but she is busy with family on holidays so I understand. And of course I have gifts for all seven of you, my beloved Delliah and grandchildren and of course my dear Rewa. By the way, did your niece from Aurhbury say she would come??

Rewa took a sip of the wine and set it down. ?No, after she found out whom I was spending it with, she declined, she decided to celebrate with her guild?. She laughed.

?Seems your manners are notorious enough from six years ago to keep all the Nalliste? save for me away. I knew I shouldn?t have invited you to our summer party...even if you did look darling that day, give you a stage and you sing the crudest of songs?. She sighed but it was for play, she was clearly enjoying it. ?My poor uncle Henry can?t even eat sausage anymore because of your one song?. She laughed and then Cinder thought about it for a moment and joined in the laughter. Delliah scrunched her face up in disgust; she didn?t even wish to ask.

?Well at least I brought some color back into your grandmother that day. It was bad enough that they didn?t know about your vampirism but to insist I come to the party and as Jennifer perhaps was something else. It was funny to see your family turn away each time we kissed?. He grinned with a sparkle in his eyes and took another long sip; Delliah shook her head at them both.

?Please, the both of you are even worse together let alone by yourselves. The three of us can?t even go to the market together?.

?Yes, you are true about that my dear. We are something however; we are good friends, historic peoples. Anyway, I think I will turn in early tonight, have a busy schedule what with what?s it called?? Cinder rose carefully as he gently set the sleeping ones on the couch. He yawned nodding to Rewa and placed his hand on Delliah?s head lovingly.

?Goodnight, see you both in the morning or night whatever I open my eyes to?.

?Oh I?m waking you up in the morning you can?t keep me from opening up presents?! Delliah grumbled.

They watched him go up the stairs he paused looking through the rail and winked at them. Red and Delliah looked to each other, they shrugged. He had been up longer than they have and worked the hardest as far as decorating the home was concerned. He also had much to drink; he was tired and was acting strange today.

Rewa

Date: 2008-12-24 23:54 EST
Delliah yawned and closed her eyes. ?Gee it?s a good thing he quit drinking while he did or we may not have had enough wine for tomorrow?.I think I?ll be going to bed too, will you be staying up Rewa??

Rewa pretended to yawn; she put her hand over her mouth and looked to Delliah who was watching her. ?No, I think I will turn in too, even if it?s early I know he will be up in about two hours and when that happens everyone will be sound asleep? he is much more fun late in the night. Would you want me to place another log on the fire Delliah??

?Please do, oh Red??

?Yeah??

She moved to the fireplace and unscrewed the iron mesh screen fro the frame on the hearth and warmed her hands for a moment.

?Thanks for staying here it means a lot to us both?. She smiled and roused her children and they clumsily wandered upstairs, Red simply watched them, it meant a lot to her as well to be here. She placed a few more logs in the fireplace and closed the screen tightly. She picked up the plates off the coffee table and the finished the glass of wine. She sighed and headed into the kitchen, placing the plates into the sink she left them for later. She returned to the living room and saw Jennifer, she smiled and she smiled.

?I thought you were tired?? She seated herself and bid Cinder to follow.
Jennifer sat beside her smiled; she laid her head on Rewa?s shoulder and watched the tree.

?I was just thinking, when I was on Earth, in that prison cell. I was missing you?I wasn?t able to use magic; I was stuck in this form for almost three weeks. It has been a lifesaver for me countless times. I still hate humans, most of them anyways? but in disguise as one I can appreciate them a little more? Would you like to spend the night with me in this form, I would let you touch me, I?ll keep you warm? I know it?s something that you have desired?I wouldn?t mind really?.

She looked away with a frown. ?I think that you have had too much to drink. You know you wouldn?t want this, you know how this would make you feel afterwards and me too. Just go?. She shooed her away, Jennifer wandered into the kitchen with such a tipsy gait and took the bottle of wine upstairs. Rewa sighed laying down on the couch. That was tempting; she closed her eyes and heard a thud outside. ?Now what??!

She threw her coat on and headed out the front door looking at Cinder lying in the snow. ?What the hell were you doing, how did you end up out here on the ground??

He turned to her and shrugged trying to pull himself up. ?I was spinning and I must have landed here after the monkey. I think it was a monkey, I was chasing him, and he must have pushed me?.
Rewa lifted him up and faded up to the balcony with him and pushed him onto the bed. ?There is no monkey?!

?I saw a monkey?.
?Get some rest, there is no monkey. Hey, um don?t get undressed?.
Meanwhile Delliah perked up in her room hearing that there was a monkey. She wondered if it was true.
?Rewa, do want some of my blood? Vampire or not I?m sure it?s tasty?. He laughed with his pants around his ankles lying on the bed, his one arm needed assistance. He turned into Jennifer once more and slid off the shirt.
?Will you cut this out, first you come on to me, then you fall off the balcony chasing an imaginary monkey then you want me to suck your blood.. You know your blood is like poison I?d be sick for a month. Once was enough for me, cut it out and get some sleep?! Jennifer winked motioning her to come on the bed. She then pulled her onto of he, perhaps Rewa wasn?t resisting that much after all. The door suddenly opened up as Red was face planted into Jen?s chest, they both looked to the door and saw Delliah. Her face was caught with surprise. ?What?s all the noise about a monkey??oh? Um? Goodnight?! She slammed the door. Jennifer waved good bye as it shut.
Rewa was red with embarrassment and Jennifer, well she felt no pain. She grinned. ?Goodnight everybody, I want waffles?you? bye monkey?. Jennifer passed out.

Rewa waved in front of her face to make certain she had passed out and sighed heavily. ?Oh, Cinder?I?ll give you a waffle alright you bastard! Thank god that?s over with?. She lay down beside her and closed her eyes. ?If you are on top of me when I wake up or a waffle is in bed with us I swear I will bite you, right on your butt?. She laughed softly to herself.

?mmm..nuh waffles?.
?Yeah I heard you already?.

Rewa

It was a few days after the holidays and few crates of wine and booze later, Cinder and Rewa had taking up babysitting for Delliah. In fact they were both were too lazy and too high on spirits to do anything else the whole week but lounge. They had a surprisingly good natured Holiday party for their guest nobody was set on fire and Cinder hadn?t stripped naked and dived out into the snow at all, that happened after the party. He hadn?t gotten the memo it was over?

Delliah was given the greatest gift ever from her father a special stone that would take her into the heart of the Mountains back home. He knew her, like him hated when the weather got hot in the summer and needed to spend some time in the snow. Rewa was given what she wanted always from Cinder. Jennifer? it was decidedly not tasteful for the ratings board so it will be left up to the imagination. He in turn was given a new tackle box from Delliah one that he desperately needed but was unwilling to get rid of the old one so he kept the old one at home for a toolbox instead. Rewa also gave Cinder something that was not tasteful but gave him a nice pack of bite sized waffles in his stocking somehow they ended up being used in an inappropriate manner according to the international waffle association or as they are commonly know (IWA)

Rewa smiled her face pressed against his chest slowing rising in sleep, she stared at the lighted tree it had become dismantled, some stands of garland was wrapped around the kittens. Cinder had passed out on his fifth glass of cognac and the last of the dwarven mountain grass they had smoked. It?s sweet smoky aroma still lingered from the ashtray. She was happy here with him, she watched the young ones curling up on each other at times opening their eyes then closing them up seeing that their siblings were sleeping. She leaned over to finish her third cocktail and woke him up. He nodded closing his eyes once more.

?So did you have a good time?? He asked pretending he would go back to sleep.

?Yes, and I know you did too but really we could save booze for the New Year?s party?.
?What New Year?s Party?? He opened his eyes rubbing them then stifled a yawn.
?My niece invited us to her place for a New Year?s Party?you promised or at least Jennifer had?.

He shook his head stealing her glass. ?Nope, don?t know anything about it besides she didn?t come here for that Santa thingy you and Delliah enjoy so much so why should we come there for her?.
?Yeah apparently she didn?t have much fun being proper for our relatives and the socialites her father invited over; being noble is boring most the time. I swear she is a lot like me in some ways she hates the servitude of being nice and appropriate for people and business?.

?So basically she wanted the outcast of the Nalliste to come because she is the only vampire and lesbian in the family. But I couldn?t blame her? it?s always fun for me. Well? it doesn?t hurt to have a cutie such as Jennifer shock that old bag of a grandmother of yours. Plus if I make two appearances as myself and Jennifer I can even make your uncle turn green, perhaps I can make that slob vomit on his wife?. He laughed joking and tossed a few toasted pepitas in his mouth. The Halloween pumpkins were finally laid to rest but not before Cinder insisted on Rewa toasting the seeds ?Still it is better than no party at all? I?m in Red?.

?So you will come as Jen, that?s a relief. You may want to wear
underwear this year in case you get out of line that time you came didn?t go over well. Just don?t drink too much you forget what person you are supposed to be?.

He was intrigued he couldn?t remember if he ever got that drunk before, it would be funny to see he thought.
Cinder protested and finished the wine off for her. ?Now I would have known who I was and where I was, I?m responsible I think. I held back the times I was in your family, not that I was in one of your family members but come on it was a pool party?.

In fact Cinder was telling the truth, after all the maid was not a member of her family. He smiled thinking of Portia and the feather duster once more.

?So will the staff be on call??

She looked at him oddly wondering why he had a grin. ?Well it is a party?.

Rewa

Date: 2008-12-31 17:43 EST
?Yeah it?s been a while?so I suspect you won?t let me drink all I want??

?On the contrary we are only going because I know you will make a scene. Plus the last time you were hitting up business contacts for yourself. if I don't get you drunk we may be dried up. Why did you think I was concerned about the alcohol??

?Hmm it never dawned on me. I think we may be doubling our trouble you letting me go to a party and not giving me any script to run by, this is a first. I won?t let you down?. He laughed slapping her lap playfully and tossed a few more pepitas into his mouth.

?Well I realized you?ve been very nice to me when we would go to these things, it means a lot to me. Though maybe some of that nicety can rub off on my family too...actually I think the family secretly likes you more at the parties more than me. I guess it?s because at least you are honest?.

Cinder smiles with a nod and pushes her off him and stands. ?Really, here I thought it was my photogenic bottom. This is good. I think you will be very impressed with me. So am I going to be allowed to wear what I want this time??
Rewa thought about this for a moment and recalled the last time he showed up as Jennifer dressed in his wizards armor and a fur bikini, the sad thing it wasn?t the pool party it was the last New Year?s party Red invited him to, that was five years ago and it was freezing out. She shook her head and slapped him on the butt. ?Oh no I think it?s best if I choose the attire this year we want to look like a nice couple not an odd one, and the odd is all you?.
?Couple, how do you mean?? He knew he hadn?t agreed to this or did he? He stared at the extinguished spliff in the ash tray and wondered how many hits went down or did she put something in his drink. He shrugged.
?Well you agreed so no arguments you?re mine?. She winked taking a sip of wine. He knew she must have gotten him into an agreeable mood seeing that wink proved it.

?I?m still not wearing shoes?! He stormed up the steps.
Delliah wandered in and looked to Red. ?Did you ask him to put shoes again on you know he doesn?t wear them?.

Rewa smiled having just won this argument. ?No, I just asked him to come to my niece?s party as Jennifer again and I got to finally pick what he wore?.
?How did you mange that?? She never won an argument with her father, she was intrigued.
?I just satisfied his hunger that?s all and then he forgot he promised me?.
Being na?ve and not really into games of love Delliah assumed it had to do with some kind of extravagant meal she made, perhaps a pie. She smiled and figured if anything would sway a cranky Cinder it would be pie and booze.
?I think I get, I?m going to try that next time?.
Rewa gasped spilling her wine looking at her. ?You, you are not serious are you??

?Well it worked for you right??
?But that?s different I?m a close friend not his family, there are laws for this kind of thing. Wait, what are you talking about??
Delliah hopped up on the couch and stared at Red. ?What are you talking about??

Rewa was too embarrassed and shifted her gaze to the window. ?Hey look the birdfeeder needs refilling?. She got up and headed out into the kitchen.

Delliah shrugged watching Rewa outside the window. ?So we are bribing father with food again are we?? She decided she would come up with a new kind of waffle to top whatever Rewa had made.

The security ushered the two guests from chateau Le Rumouex, Rewa and Jennifer still holding empty champagne flutes and each other as to not fall. They stumbled, finally fell as the gate closed after them. Laughing and pretending to drink once more from them they tossed the glasses over their heads wishing eachother a happy new year, they had an hour to go but being early isn't so bad. They laughed kissed each other and decided on a seedy pub than this fancy family party.

Together they wandered through the night following promises of a new year, most likely they were following the source of fireworks and the promise of a few more cheers.
