Kyra was shrieking, it was dark. The kind of dark that couldn't be found outdoors, no matter what the hour. No, this was the blackness only a place that was completely contained and devoid of any light what so ever had. Like the abyss, but tight, there was no room to hardly even move. It was hot - burning! The agony seared through every bit of flesh that was in contact with it. She couldn't get up, her back felt like it was on fire. Hands flew up above her head, pounding on the metal it met, only to find it was scalding her on contact. There was no escape from this inferno.
Cut of from everything. She could not see. She could not hear. She could not smell. She could not think. The part of her mind that could think and act was merely screaming and incoherent. She was helpless. She was cut off from everything... Just her and those all encompassing, dark, burning walls. No thoughts existed that could be categorized or even understood by a rational mind. The only emotion that could be registered was despair as she went into shock. Her fingers, clutching at nothing.
The nurse shook her head as she watched the girl having another fit. She was crying, not just from the pain, but from whatever hell inside of her mind she was still trapped within. The fever had yet to break and it was still uncertain if she would ever really recover. It was just too soon to tell.
The nurse tried to sooth the girl, who had to be restrained due to periodic episodes of violence. Her struggles only ceased when she was drugged into stillness. The girl begged incoherently, she pleaded desperately with the unknown captor. "Please! Let me out! Please! Let me out, Please!" Was some of the few comprehensible words that were cried out. Those phrases, over and over again.
This girl, known only as Kyra, would not be calmed though. With a shake of her head the nurse took a syringe in hand, filling it up with a large dose of a potent anti-anxiety medication. She injected it into the IV. They already had pain killers dripping into her as a constant, as well as antibiotics. Aside from treating the burns, it was the best they could do for now.
The nurse watched as Kyra gave a few more whimpering protests, pulling at the restraints holding her. At last her body relaxed and she seemed at peace... Aside from the tears, still streaming down her face.
A few moments she reflected as she observed Kyra. Then she decided it was time to give an update to the detective who was waiting outside. The authorities were very interested in the girls condition. They wanted to speak to her as soon as possible. Unfortunately there was not going to be any good news to give.
But at least she was still alive, it was a miracle. There was still hope.
