Adenna: Chains of Destruction

(The following takes place directly after the events of Scarred: Camp: Devotion http://rdi.dragonsmark.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=18402 and Scarred: The Fall of Public Works http://rdi.dragonsmark.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=18361)

"I'm not dead... I cut down my foes. I recall it clearly. I just got... tired, is all. I remember standing on my feet, even though I could not feel my legs. I remember holding my sword so long it felt like it were apart of me. I remember when the clangs stopped... But mostly, I remember the scent of a woman; one that I found comfort in, joy even. But more than that, I know this woman." Dyarhk spoke to himself in the darkness of his sleep. He saw nothing in this dream, yet it existed, as blackness. It was all he saw, until, a blinding light shone in the center of this eternal night, and took on the shape of a woman, also familiar. "...Was it you? that saved me?"

He asked further in his dream, squinting his eyes at this brightness now as he could make out himself now, no longer drowning in the darkness. The heavenly silhouette; no, it was not heaven, it was power. Raw power. Siovanui power. And her curvy outlines soon relinquished center stage to a superimposing insignia, one that frightened him, and made him clench his arm upon seeing. It slowly began to fill with light, as if it were opening. The light only grew until the darkness and him along with it were overwhelmed, and he woke up in a glossy sweat, and breathing quite hard.

"Calm yourself, Dark. Seirichi?" Spoke the pale beauty as she gave gesture to Dyarhk. Another. As if on cue the male would feel strong hands keeping him at bay as another sharp jolt of energy ran through his body.

?.. It'll be over soon. Just stay calm.. I -- We need you to stay calm. " A worried voice left the Siovanui's lips as she looked to her sister. Nima continued her work with a deep look of concentration on her features.

"Once more.. Just visualize pushing the energy into him. " The pressure on Dyarhk's back lessoned, but was still enough to keep him in place.. Then -- the warmth could be felt once more. Revitalizing; sweeping away any sort of fatigue that still hindered the once sleeping male. ".. It's working.."

"You say that like you didn't know it would.. " The voices spoke between one another -- Dyarhk himself being ignored.

".. A forty percent chance is still a chance, right?" A chuckle from Nima let loose.

"All that matters is it worked.. " Seirichi happily spoke in a still worried tone. ".. Dark.. how are you feeling?"

"Where am I? I was... on the battlefield and -- " he struggled, but stopped when this gave him notice of the powerful hold someone had on him. He looked to those hands, and they were far softer-looking than he imagined. He traced them to their owner, and calmed at Seirichi's face. "How do I -- , I feel..." he gasped then, wide-eyed. "alive... I'm alive." he said, as if this came to some shock to him. And immediately then, he was hit by a sharp pain that overwhelmed him and jolted him with a lively rigidity that stood all his veins and froze his every tensing muscle. It hurt so bad, but so did this tell him more than ever, that he was alive.

He acknowledged this, but the "how?" of it was lost by him. Speak of the devil then, as he looked to his left bicep, which carried more pain than any other part of his body. It was there Nima worked, causing him further worry. "If I'm alive... does that mean..? I am no longer bound by the laws of that planet..?"

"Of course..! Did you fucking think I'd just like you die? " Her face. It still looked worried.. but Seirichi was trying her hardest to look strong for the man before her. The area around them should of been more clear to Dyarhk at the time. It was his tent.. and they looked to have used his desk as their operating table. Seirichi's coat covered form stood there. Blood of their enemies still adorn her figure like badges of victory. "Bound..? Well.. it's pretty damn complicated.. Like.. " Biting against her bottom lip. " .. We sort of cheated."

"It's not cheating. It's bending the rules." Nima spoke out. Another nerve shocking pain wrecked through Dyarhk's body before the young mage of Liltu finally stepped back and gave a stretch. "It's finished. Just don't overwork yourself.. You're still bound to that world but the Siovanui energy provided by Seirichi should be enough to keep you from dying."

"So.. In a way.. you're bound to me now." The brown haired woman said with a smile. ".. You almost died.. F*cking idiot, don't worry me like that again.."

"Huh?" he said, absorbing this wealth of information. He knew his strength had been fading, but the idea of being dependent on something such as a fate chosen for him was soul-shattering to him. Nothing, he thought, was beyond overcoming, so long as you had the will. As it turned out, he was half right. It had been overcome, but not... by him. He looked over Seirichi, and then the glowing new addition to his left bicep. There, shirtless and in several bandages, he sat up now, hovering his hand over the mage's marking seared into his very flesh, and by the way it shone, his spirit as well. "...So I was saved. I see now." he had carefully moved his hand around the marking before grabbing the area of his arm around it.

"So.. In a way.. you're bound to me now."

"...Seiri." he put a hand over her own, and gave her a serious gaze. What she had done surely spoke for itself. Nima saw this movement of handholding, and grinned softly.

"...I think I will see to the newly stationed guard towers. Would you like to accompany me, Master Dwarf?" she asked to Crall, standing at the entrance of the tent with his axe.

"Hm? OH! OHH! Aye, Your Highness. And you there, try not to get yourself kilt this time. Or maybe you'll find it's harder to fall down when someone's hold'tn onto yer?" the dwarf commander said, opening the tent for Nima and walking out. Dyarhk instantly slipped into a state of worry, grabbing on Seirichi's arms and looking her blood-stained clothing over. "What is all this? Were you injured??"

"The only that was injured was my wallet.. I have to buy a new coat." Sigh. Her jacket looked to have gotten the most damage of her person. Rips and tears, obvious sword slashes.. but none seemed to bare any of her skin. "If it weren't for you falling over like that I probably would of only had to have worried about a dry cleaning bill.." Her voice a bit low, as was her expression as she looked to the side. ".. Are you alright with this? This.. whole thing.. I mean, what me and Nima did.. You would have died if we hadn't and I just couldn't stand to lose another person I love.."

He was quiet, softening his worrisome hold on her the longer she talked. But her words did not want to make him hold onto her any less. Finally, he huffed out a little laugh. "Am I worried..? Heh. Of course I am. Do you know how hard it is going to be now to get away from someone whose spirit mine is bound with?" he adoringly brushed his thumb past her cheek under her eye several times before lowering his voice. ".....very hard." he said softly.

"... Yeah." Shaking her head. What was she so worried about? Did she think he'd hate her for it..? Who knew. But right now all she knew was that she saved the man she loved -- and that's all that mattered. "You better not run away then.. or else I just might have to cut you off from all of this." A pose taken while fingers pointed to herself. But, her moment of ego-boosting came to a close as she dropped her arms and just looked at him.. That's all -- just looked. A gaze that seemed to show that everything was right at the moment..

"I think it would be pointless to worry about my going anywhere at this point..." a soft smile as his hand rained down the side of her and caught her own at the end of its fabric and skin assessing journey. "You're far too hard to look away from as it is." he pressed her hand against his lips, and then held it against his cheek strongly, glinting green eyes wetly looking up at her. It was one of the ways he showed seriousness. Seiri cussed, he opened up the waterworks. "You think I don't know what you did for me?" he said, unfaltering in his tone, as he had focused so hard to make sure. He rose, and enveloped her in his arms and chest. And as their embrace tightened, the once calmed marking on his arm began to shine warmly.

".. Oh.. oh c'mon.. stop with that.." But she was grateful. It showed all over her features as she saw him simply open up in such a way to bring tears to his eyes. Another hair-swaying shake of the head as she took in some air and let loose a slow, yet content sigh. Strong arms wrapped about her form and she was drawn in.. standing there against him. Her eyes couldn't help but close as she tried to enjoy the moment.. but then they opened, growing wide as she looked to his face. Her own showing she had remembered something.. ".. Dark.. we're leaving for Adenna.." Worry once more overtaking her. ".. Our fight here is over."

"What, leaving?" he blinked, a hand on his thigh. "Town Hall... it was not pretty. I believe most of it went under. But... Rhy'Din City still stands a chance... just like this camp. Wait.. this camp. New guard towers? Has the barrier come down??"

"Liltu can't stay any longer. The council has said Mommy is asking for all able-bodied Liltu mages to come to Adenna at once.. Something is going on Dark, we can't stay here.. Even Crall agrees with the idea. The dwarves can handle the camp on their own."

"All these people..." he turned and faced the desk he had been on just moments ago; life-changing moments, that happened during the course of an embrace. He covered his mouth, his eyes calculating it all. "Men, women, and children dying. Such a tragedy had always inflicted a deep wound within me. It did not matter that I joined battles with those I did not know, and did not know me, nor care for me. I did it for the people. My kind heart still exists, but I can feel myself... changing. There is one person in my life now whose value I hold above all others. Her wellbeing concerns me before anyone else. And if her journey takes her to Adenna, then it takes me there as well."

"Then we'll go. Together." Reaching out to take his hand into her own. An offered squeeze given moments after as she looked to him once more with her own burning gaze. "Whatever comes our way.. big or small, Dark.. I want you to know -- I'll always be there beside you."

"..!" he gasped, looking back at her. There was something he saw before him, that he had never seen before. A flame, and a roaring one at that. And what stood it apart, was that it burned for him. This surprised him more than anything ever had. 'Is this what I have been searching for all my life? This feeling? Is this the feeling of that which I have longed for, and pursued? This is what it feels like?' he allowed his hand to be held, before it became a joint effort and he turned to her. "... ." wetting their feet with one another's comfort was a point they had gone far and beyond. They had drowned in it. Their held hands were broken so that he might hold her form ever tightly as he kissed her lips.
A kiss he had never given before. A kiss that said a hundred things: I am here, I will never leave you, thank you, I love you. It was a unique series of factual statements that were spoken through a hot physical feeling to the tune of lips regaining their hold of one another. It was more than that, though. He seemed to ' ' feel ' ' what she felt. It must've been their interwoven spiritual link, which would have explained a lot, because when he stopped hungering for the touch of her lips, her eyes had opened the same as his, expectingly looking into his own. "You have my heart, choppy-haired warrior..." he grabbed onto those brown locks of hers that were so fond of swaying recently to let her pay notice to what he referred before releasing with a smile. One final kiss, savoring the godly wine in the bottom of his glass only for it to be magically refilled when he opened his eyes again. "...It is settled then. Help me dress my armor." turning, and going to the suit that faced him in the corner. A suit, like Crall's golden armour, that had been left behind in the attack on Town Hall.

Recovering from the kiss as well, she needed a few moments to just.. soak it all in. But, upon returning back to world of the here and now.. as well as hearing his request; she'd respond. "I'd tell you to relax.. but right now, I'd rather see you dressed for battle." It was how she liked her men. How she loved to picture them. You could take a woman out of Adenna -- but you can't take Adenna out of the woman. "Crall said he had something to speak with you about as well.. I'm not sure what, but it's important." Taking hold of the chest guard momentarily before moving to place it over his head and fasten it about his upper form. "Nima's waiting to port us, then she'll be going to Liltu.. So it'll just be you and me going through the portal."

Tugging a nightly blue shirt on he began getting dressed. Boots, gloves, plate legs, that chestpiece. He had slid the many belts to their notches like he had so many times. He could almost do it with his eyes closed. But when his hand met the hand of Seirichi's, having gone for the same place of that chestpiece to fasten, he flinched with surprise. He looked over at her. "...I don't think I'll ever get used to that." smiling, he rose, fastening two pieces of that enchanted black cloak to his shoulders. His biceps unarmored and exposed, he covered the new marking on his left arm adoringly before he stepped just outside of the tent.

"Looks to me like you're in need of a new sword!" Crall laughed, sitting outside, waiting on him. Dyarhk gasped, feeling about his waist, indeed, his sword was missing. Back in the battle, he had splintered it, not unlike the two others before it.:

"Heh... You look better in gold once again, Crall.."

Crall put on a serious look. "Seems you cannot maintain a steady relationship with a weapon. And with a looker as fair as tha' one you got, Lad, that's not good for images. I saw the way you handled my axe back in the feight. It took all you had, and then some, but you swung it. Do you remember what I told you?" Crall got up, and walked over to him. Dyarhk looked down, recalling it clear as day, or as it actually was in the memory, night. He had both trained and spoken with Crall. He learned a great deal from the dwarf lord, most of which was unusable. He learned that Crall fought with physical power. It was how he shaped his people, and won their victories. But to Dyarhk's understanding, even if it was grand, it could never be enough for one man to make the difference with. Perhaps it was the weight of that axe that discouraged him further.

"...Aye, you remember. I can see it in your eyes." Crall held his axe up, holding it between them, before turning it and presenting its hilt to him. "I'm getting up in my old age. My days of adventuring are over. But this axe will never age. It will always be in the hands of a worldchanger. So take it. Grow strong by it, and the woman you mean to protect. If your heart is true, you will lift its tremendous weight, because it is nothing more than ambition." he said, and Dyarhk had stared into it before nodding, tucking his lips in. He clenched the thick hilt of the sun-colored metal, and heaved it from Crall's grip. A grunt, slightly quivering arms, and then he held it firmly. "Heh... I think I'll retire to the mountains. See many good seasons with my people. And tell stories of you and your friends, who came here and helped those no one else would..."

"The Dwarven Mountain Lords did. Don't think I'll be forgetting that." Dyarhk said with a grin, however hard to summon, holding that axe. He finally turned its blade down and let it rest on the grass beside his armored boots while he held it.

"Here... take this." Crall was reminded seeing him succumb to the weight, undoing the unique square golden shoulder from his armour, brandishing a unique roof. "My father wore this. Forged it when the God's Edge began giving him shoulder pain from carrying it. The back of it also grooves with an opening on the face of the axe. You can fasten it in this way, and alleviate all pressure any other rig might give ya. The only thing you must concern yourself with is its mighty weight." Crall educated, handing him the shoulder, taking away from Crall a great deal of intimidation without that shoulder.

Dyarhk seized the shoulderpiece, undoing his cloak to equip both ends of it to this large golden block intended to guard a mighty dwarven lord's shoulder. "Thank you, Crall. For everything." He began trying to work the axe onto it at his back, taking away from some of the coolness, by being unable to do it. Even Crall made a bit of a face, reaching out as if to help, but he refrained.

".. Jeez. You're really making a fool of yourself now. You know that?" Grinning to him. Instead of the dwarves, it would be Seirichi's hands that came to grasp onto the axe as strong arms helped hoist the mighty weapon up. Giving a helping hand to Dyarhk as he placed it onto his back. It was quite heavy.. It brought questions to her mind; how would he be able to really use such a thing in battle..? In that small instance she hoped that none would show itself. Adenna.. He could be walking into another battle field. 'No.' She said. Not out loud, but inside her mind as she pushed those thoughts away. She said it herself -- they'd do this together. If he couldn't lift that axe fully on his own.. she'd just have to help him. One way or another. She took a step to the side afterwards. Just taking in the sight of the armor-clad Dyarhk and the giant axe he held on his back.

"... It's amazing. I wonder what Mom will say when she sees you like this."

"I'm not looking to impress your mother, Seiri. I'm merely hoping these things help defend me against her."

Crall laughed at that, just as a hand found a cocked hip of Seiri's. " .. And you, Crall. " She couldn't just forget the dwarf, "You're one hell of a warrior! But I guess even a warrior deserves a nice rest." She reached out for his hand. "It was nice working with you."

"You Ichi's are a make of woman our neck of the mountain wouldn't mind having! You're as strong as any war captain I've fought with, Seirichi." shaking her hand. "You take good care of this man! He's a little foolhardy, but he's got a big heart, and that'll go miles on the battlefield. I hope we meet again someday! Hahaha!" he laughed, grabbing his wrist behind his back, as he began walking through camp, the opposite direction they would be heading. Dyarhk backed beside Seiri, and gave a worried look. "Are you okay?"

"Good luck! " Calling out. Watching the dwarf walk away at a steady pace. But then her attention drew back to Dyarhk. "Huh..?" Yes. He was worried about her.. he probably saw how she looked during her own inner conflict. A curse to herself given before she shook her head and gave off a smile. "I'm fine. Don't worry so much, alright? I'm tough as nails." She gave a pound to her chest. "You heard him. Strong as a war captian." A change of subject. That's what she wanted -- and it's what she'd be asking for as she spoke. "We're all ready to go, right? Got everything you'll need?"

"Where are you going.. this conflict is far from over, Dark. Miss Wong will not be pleased with this.." Came the voice of Nella as she stepped onto the scene.. but she wouldn't be the only one. The short-haired Corea could also be seen next to her. "You haven't even brought this up with me!"

"Got everything you'll need? " he sought out her hand, locked-on with her eyes. "I do." whispered softly as he was then approached by Nella and Corea. He looked their way, before assessing Corea, and then looking back to Seiri. "A moment. See about Nima and our portal." a squeeze, and he then released her hand, presenting the all of his back and that glorious axe glinting and reflecting even, back at her amidst the black of his cloak. He stepped up to Nella and Corea, the vast majority of his body concealed by how this cape was fastened to the same shoulder, so only his right arm and some of his side really shewed. "...Nella I am taking up arms in Adenna. The Ichi's were an ally long before Wong and I met. If you feel the situation no longer profitable, then go home. You've already helped a great deal." he looked to Corea, assessing her emotions very briefly, before looking back. "But I would imagine anything still being recorded could only add to her image at this point back on the tiers. Nella... might I have a word with my bodyguard?" he asked, now giving his full attention to Corea.

"Understood. Excuse me, I have a call to make." The conversation was left just then as she turned herself about and made way for the MedBus. As for Corea; she looked rather pissed. Her expression showing anger, while at the same time uncertainty. She disliked being left out of the loop -- and this? This had her pretty damn well outside of it. "What is this all about Dark? You can't seriously be thinking about just going off to fight in some new conflict? First you start going out on on the field without me.. Then when you arrive back at camp you're near death and I wasn't allowed to bring you to Nella for treatment. Now you're talking about leaving? I can't just up and go wherever I please. You'll need to give me some time to speak with Miss Wong." It seemed the Bioroid had come to the conclusion that she would be going with him.

?Now the fighting was for the best. 'Least I could know was that you weren't in danger.? He smiled softly, taking her hand, and escorting her the short few steps to a slightly quieter locale. ?Corea..." brushing that cherry-chocolate hair one more time. He took a deep breath, over-exaggeratively. "I gave it a shot. That life's just not for me." a simple shrug, apart of a formula he was presenting, to purposefully look formulaic, like this were a simple conclusion. "These hands of mine weren't meant to hold a gun. And my wounds aren't meant to be treated with advanced technology. And my heart... is meant, for another." simple conclusions, however, were only so many.
"Thank you, for letting me close. But your destiny lies far beyond this. I was just, a shadow, that got in your way." he reached, and procured from her pocket, the same pocket she always gravitated to, when it came to placing her hairpin. It was a simple, white, plain hairpin. But since she had been growing her hair out some from its regular shortness, she had been keeping it out of her way. He showed the item to her. "Let me keep this. So I might remember the moment you started to change. When you tore down your walls and began letting people see you. Such a thing I do not want to forget. Wong gave me your termination code, remember? That means I have ownership over you. And now, I give that ownership to you. Your life is your own, Corea. And don't let Wong touch that beautiful mind of yours. Because it is just that, beautiful. And should never be ruined again by the sameness of indifference. Come here."

He put his chin over her shoulder in embrace, and closed his eyes. "I won't forget you. But, go home. Create a life for yourself, and no other. Do that, and that is where you will call home." This was it. All this time they spent together -- and this is how it would end. For a bioroid; even she couldn't help but stunned by this moment. Termination code.. ownership. She was now her own person. Or so he said. Those arms took her once more for what could possibly be for the very last time. " ........ " Her body broke away. Slow, steady steps took her away from Dyarhk so that she could give him a last once over. ".. Dark." Yes.. this was it. Her chest rose as she took in a breath; as well as her arm as she brought it up to salute.

"It was a pleasure working with you, Sir." It fell quickly, just as fast as it had risen.

He saluted her back. "The pleasure was mine." his saluted arm came back down, and almost as if the cloak were alive, ate his arm and made it once again apart of the black domineering figure that was the golden axeman. He turned and began back for his tent, never looking back. Eyes of his that carried such a torch even when the spirit of his life force had all but diminished. The black claw-like fingers of his gauntlets wrapped around one of the ropes that made up the entrance of his tent. Seiri was not here.

"Silver Mark tastes better than Badsider. More variety, higher quality. It's just better beer."

He looked around for a moment, to remember the place, before marching on. He came upon Rar Deephand, the amiable ale master, and stopped in his tracks. ".!"

"Dark! Where are you -- " and that was when he saw it, Crall's axe. He blinked.

"I'm moving on to another battlefield. And I was hoping I'd get to see you again before I left." Dyarhk smiled down to him.

"Yer Leavin'?! But you're the founder! You're the -- you know I don't have anyone else to talk to 'sides 'a you." Rar looked genuinely sad.

"...When this is over, return to the mountains with Crall. I will seek you out there one day, and you can lay waste to the brews of Rhy'Din I've tasted with your famous stock." his smiled warmed. ?Which reminds me. Help out our friend, The Baron, and order more of that Silver Mark. The men sure like it, and I wouldn't mind a few glasses with you next we meet. I'll even try and bring the man himself along with me so you can meet the recipient of your letter." Dyarhk's hand reached over the dwarf's shoulder and pulled him into him. Rar let loose, and hugged him, tears flowing.

"I'll miss ye!"

Dyarhk tucked his lips in. As if Corea wasn't hard enough. "Hey, this isn't goodbye. It's ' ' see you later. ' ' Okay?" Dyarhk told him, and although Rar nodded in understanding, he dampened his black leather and wet his armour all the more. Eventually, the two men, one harder than the other, regained their composure. "Rar: a dwarf of a dwarf. You take care of this camp." he instructed.

"You can count on me, palliator." he dwarf-saluted. That title, palliator; he was leaving so much behind here, but that name, it still stuck to him.

"Hmm..." he passed Rar with a friendly wave, and used that same hand to eventually pass into the big tent at the end of camp. It was filled with Liltu and Adenna things, packed, but yet to be moved. And it was there he saw Seiri and Nima before a portal. He walked up to it. "Is this it?" observing it.

"Yup. Everything's packed up and ready to go." Said with a nod of her head as she looked out to the portal. "Looks like we have a storm on our hands.."

"Reason why I'll be going to Liltu instead. Once this storm clears we can meet up for dinner." Nima spoke with an amused tone as she imagined the steak she could order.

".. We could go now if you just stop being a wimp.." The brown haired Seirichi said with a deadpanned look to her sister.

"Sorry. I'm not interested in ruining another good pair of robes because of bad weather." said with a hum as she looked to the two of them. "Plus.. it'd be nice if you two had a little alone time." Flashing those pearly whites in the brightest, most perverted grin she could muster.. which caused Seirichi to shuffle at her feet for a second. "Yes.. Well -- ahem! Dark, Let's get going!"

"..." Dyarhk blinked several times at this exchange. But he remained laconic. He had a giant axe now, that was what you did, you were laconic. "Bad weather?" he struck a curious face. Portals, why couldn't they show what they were going into? A disc of light was all they had, so you were always going in blindly. He sighed, covering his axe with that heavy black shroud, implying a wealth of a shoulder span. He didn't want to be drawing attention so early in Adenna, especially when they did not know how bad the situation was. "I'll go first." stepping up. And soon, he would know just how bad that situation was.

Dyarhk

Date: 2010-12-13 16:44 EST
Three cracks of lighting right off, and an ongoing rumble of thunder. His face was pelted almost immediately by the bullet-like rain that poured down. It was a monsoon, and the shade of night masked him all around. 'THIS is Adenna?' Dyarhk summoned his hood from behind his neck and protected his face from the rain, squinting one eye. Trying to understand where in Adenna he was, none of this looked familiar. He stood on sand, not cobblestone streets. And certain it was day, it appeared to be night. And that was when his eyes bolted open. "..!"

The nightfall cast upon him was that of many islands' shadows cast down from above, and a nightmare of a storm brought about by the shrieks of a monster. Hearing such shrieks again, he recognized it all too well. It was the sound of a guardian. These islands around him, the famous floating islands of Adenna's guardians, had crashed. "....."

"You there! Move it right along! We're directing portal traffic!?

"Join the others in the alcove! We're setting up shelters!" Adennian knights, fully-armored, and dry inside, issued out the orders, grabbing Dyarhk's arm and leading him before he jerked his arm out of his grip. "Hey!?

?Huh?" the other looked back to see Dyarhk helping Seiri through the portal. Wearing far less clothing than she probably should in this weather, it was still beneficial, as the knights did not recognize her. "Alright you two, move it right along! It's still dangerous here, you know!"

"Come on." Dyarhk said, putting an arm around the shorter woman, and in-effect, his cape, which shielded her from the rain and the cold, and permitted warmth and dryness, and the closeness of him. He walked with her through the sand towards where the many flames were in the distance. Cabins setup, and smoking chimneys running the scents of foods cooking. He kept her wrapped warmly, tight. "Dear Gods, what could have done this?"

"........ What.." It's all Seirichi could mutter. The sounds of the crying beast. Instantly knowing who and what it came from. A beast she had gotten the best of oh-so many years ago with her Sister. The darkness, the rain.. everything feeling rushed. Everything going by so fast, she couldn't wrap her head around any of this. Hurried along by Dyarhk as she tried to focus in on something, anything.. and yet the only thing she could was the feeling of warmth brought to her by that draped cape. ".. What the fuck is going on... Dark, I need to find my Mom!" She broke away from him. Boots smacking against the wet ground as she started to break for a run.

"Seirichi! WAIT!" he yelled out as she left the protection of him. He clenched his teeth as he began to pursue her. This new weight was already making itself known as a serious challenge. She wouldn't get far.. another guard was spotted, this time with a royal blue hood shadowing his features. His illuminated form was tall and reaked of Liltu magic, something Seirichi hadn't been expecting. She stopped and took a step back in confusion. Why was a Liltu mage here.. No, they were getting help from them -- but why was he in Adenna armor?!

"Ma'am! You cannot leave the area!" He warned with a stern voice. "Mistress Crane and Suresa the Hunter Captain are currently battling the sea beast with archery teams! You MUST take shelter!" Another step back. She was out of her element.. This must been how those who ventured into camp felt after being rescued from battle.. but right now -- instead of being rescued from it, she was thrown right into it. "How did this happen?!"

"I have no time to explain! I order you to make for the shelters now!" Ordered? A liltu mage.. was ordering her ? here?!

Hearing the Liltu person bark their orders as he finally came up to them, he stood beside Seiri, both his arms inside his cloak as he questioned the mage. "Where exactly are we? I see the islands, but I do not recognize the ground we walk."

"That is because it did not exist prior to this catastrophe. It is a breakaway of the great islands. This alcove was formed by the islands' crash. You will find there is much about Adenna that has changed. Now, please!"

"Do we have a problem here??" another Liltus knight walked up.

".. No. We were just heading for the alcove." he came up and put a hand on Seiri's shoulder and got in close. "There is too little we know about this. Maybe we can find less resistance down there." he would walk with her again, the rain blasting their backs and the wind giving them a little bit more step in their walk. Dyarhk's cloak soon came around to envelope her once more, his arm inside it draping her as well. "Maybe someone you know is down there." he squinted an eye to the harshness of the storm, a squint that diminished the closer they came into this somewhat protected area. It was apart of one of the islands that seemed to have been burrowed into and almost instantly felt warm, a heat trap, produced by the smoke from the many fires.

".. How could this have happened.." Was this what Havelast warned them about? Was.. no -- this had to have been. "I should.. I should have been here.." She said. But her tone so low that the echo of the beast and the rattling of the rain drowned it out. Her body moved closer to Dyarhk's. This was.. too much of a shock for her. ".. Adenna.. what has happened to you..?" Fingers curling, squeezing.

Dyarhk

Dyarhk was facing his own demons. He was distant, far off, which was ironic, because that was the very thing he was thinking about. It was his fault. If he hadn't requested the aid of Tetch and Lilith, their forces wouldn't have been so divided for this attack. His eyes shook with the shock of it all. 'How many people have died, because of my foolishness?' he asked himself. His eyes widened, nothing more. He could not afford to weaken at the sight of this, lest his axe might become too heavy. He walked with Seiri, the warmth of this place considerably different than outside it, but still cold. And the howling wind was almost inescapable, as was the rain. They came upon a nice fire, and many frightened Adennians crowded around it. But before they could get close enough to ask any questions about the attack, a man crossed from around the fire and confronted them. "We're not taking anymore! Go to some other group!"

Dyarhk's hands held out apologetically. "We don't want to steal your seats. We're just trying to find who's in charge here."

"I mean it! Step back! Both of you!"

"Didn't you hear him?" another man asked. Before long, they were surrounded, by Seiri's own countrymen.

"Who do you think you are?"
"What do you think you're doing?"
"Are you outsiders?"
"They said leave them alone. Why won't you do that?"
"Are you the enemy?"
"Get them!!" a man roared, but Dyarhk's roar was louder. And above that, even, was his axe that came out from underneath his cloak. It flew forward and landed still, miraculously, in the angry grip of the palliator.

He bared his clenched teeth at the many men, daring them to take a step forward. "IDIOTS! Don't you realize this is your princess!!" unable to point with his hands, so he jerked his head towards Seirichi. 'Are these men so frightened?' Dyarhk questioned.

"Everyone, remember what I have told you. We must not lose ourselves. Adenna is not made by its walls, but by the people inside them." the familiar voice of a woman Seirichi and Dyarhk both recognized: Atae. She stepped out in thick robes unfitting a dancer, and waved the people. "Back to warming yourselves. Our volunteers are nearly finished preparing your fish. Just a little longer." the crowd died down, looking ever saddened. Dyarhk kept his guard up, until Atae called the two of them. "Another of our Siovanui has returned... won't you come inside?" Atae gave her back up on the top step of the largest cabin built in this little nook, stepping in through its door-lacking doorway.

Dyarhk was able to this time sheathe his axe, slipping his fingers into the niche in the face of the axe that the spaded spike on his spaulder slipped into. He looked over to Seirichi, waiting for her, since she had been the one called. "....?"

Scared.. fearful of what was around them. Was this what became of Adenna? Because she had stayed at Devotion? She should of been here.. She could of, somehow, maybe - stopped this from happening? That axe came out and into the open; brandished by the man she loved.. Would she have to fight as well? She couldn't.. These were men of Adenna -- they were her allies! But then a familiar voice spoke through and quelled the smaller storm within the large typhoon. ".. A.. Atae.."

She wanted to run to her, grab her.. Seirichi had so many questions and she wanted the answers as soon as possible. The shaken Siovanui followed.. but turned to look to Dyarhk before taking a second step. ".... I should of been here, Dark.. I should of.."

Dyarhk swallowed hard. Her words stung. He knew she should have... So many things would not have happened had she of been here. This devastation, their time together, their nights together. But worst of all, she was right. And he believed she was right. Would they have still met each other in such a way, naturally, like they had at the camp? Who knew, but the lives of her people should win out every time over such a foolish thing as love. 'What? Do I believe that? Am I so selfish?' he thought, looking over the many distraught men as he kept his words and thoughts to himself as he ascended the surprisingly well-built stairs. Adenna was a city of knights and carpenters, and this at least showed their craft could still set them apart.

His heavy boots thudded inside the few and calculated steps he made until he stood still, both his arms inside the warmth of his cloak as he watched Atae and Seiri grow closer to one another. "..."

"Seiri Dear." Atae took her into embrace, smiling first, then looking oh-so sad. "I am so glad you are safe. This is terrible, Seirichi. Terrible."

"Atae. I must know." Seirichi spoke as she pulled away and grasped at her shoulders. "How did this happen?! Who.. or.. what -- did this?!" It couldn't of been a who. How could anyone do such damage? The islands.. the roar of the sea beast. Crane, a goddess in even her eyes, being used to keep it at bay.. Just how could all of this have happened?! "What about my Mothers! They came here.. With Havelast.. Are they all okay? Nothing happened to them -- please, tell me nothing happened to them!"

Atae nodded repeatedly, unable to get a word out faster than Seiri's worry. "Yes, yes. Your mothers are fine. Techichi is warding off the bridge dragon from swooping at the main castle and helping with the rebuilding process there. And Lilith is blocking the great ice spider's influence from entering our hopes and fears. Everyone is fine, darling..." Atae patted her as she insisted upon another hug. She had been there for Seirichi in the past, when she was a little girl with a scraped knee. Nothing helped more than an extra hug. But this time, she wondered if it would be enough. She came back to look at her.

"...Adennian exiles, Seiri. And we believe Havelast's old mentor, and captain of our city's very first knighthood, Amonas Jei, is leading them. But that is not all. The brother of Rijn appears to be allied with them, as we were unable to use any of our magic to repel their own, and prevent them from -- ......Seirichi. The kingdom is above ground, but buried deep, directly under three of the five islands. An assailant penetrated into the treasure room, and made away with Ko'rudoche, and chained the islands, bringing them down upon the city." she said with hesitance. Dyarhk's eyes bolted open at hearing this. It could not be. 'A band this small was able to stage a coup?'

"Ah... good. You've brought Dark with you."

"Senator." Dyarhk nodded in greeting, obscuring the doorway with his size, partially due to his axe.

Atae calmed somewhat, guiding Seiri's hands down to her sides and then putting her own on the girl's shoulders, walking her away from the steaming heat from the kitchen and into the doorway leading to an open space, not fully blocking off the winds as they still whistled quietly through cracks in the walls and an open doorway leading to a wide balcony that was meant to overlook the area easily. Atae lowered her voice, and checked her sides before speaking secretly to Seirichi. Dyarhk stepped closer to them, very curious as to her method.

"..?"

"And Havelast... He is heading all of these efforts, on all five islands. He is at the Adenna main court with your mother beneath the mud guardian's isle. We are all waiting, waiting to hear word back from them. All transportations are cut, and for good reason. Going out on your own is too dangerous. The only way to reach them is on foot, and is how we were currently divided. We had to split up, to control the guardians from wrecking the city. Crane and Suresa are helping me here with Yajuu Kai, but as you can see, it is a fearsome effort."

"Atae, what if the worst has happened? Will we continue to wait? Our friends', your husband's life may be in danger at this very moment."

"No matter what, we have our orders.? she shot him a glare. ?However, that is unlikely, because the guardians are being suppressed. If Eizou is unable to control the magma lord, then we would have known about it by now; same goes for all of Adenna's heroes. They have earned their reputations appropriately, Dark." looking him down, who only tsked to the side. Atae laid her eyes back down on the girl she watched grow up through the years. "Seiri... I know how much of a fighter you are. I am sorry. But you must understand, it is much too dangerous to leave here on your own. But do not worry. We will hear back shortly from the court. I'm sure if you are willing to help, they will place you. Please rest, while you wait. Even if you are not tired. Please sit down. Rest your mind. I'll bring you both something hot to eat." Atae opened her arm to present this open space to them.

Dyarhk was watching, and had been watching a young boy, fishing through a crack in the floor for something he must've dropped. He took Atae up on her offer, grabbing the doorway with his armored hand as he passed by both her and Seirichi. "...." weaving around some men and women walking, guiding his axe as well as he did so, and careful to step around people warming themselves with blankets on the floor he walked. The boy was making red the skin around his arm just as the quaking man's boots came to a stop behind him. He looked up, and terrified, just blinked with his jaw dropped at the Palliator looking down at him.

"Lose something?"

"..!!"

He drew his rhinoceros giant's knife, and caused one of the women, probably the boy's mother, to gasp. Stabbing the knife down at a fast pace, he brought up and back through the crack, a wooden knight, now brandishing a new cut as shown when Dyarhk easily worked his knife out. The boy began to look a little upset by the damage as it was handed back to him, but Dyarhk held out an armored finger that amazed the boy long enough for him to speak. "Your warrior has a new battle scar now. Only the toughest warriors wear them. Be careful with him, now. He has many more people he must protect."

The boy blinked in amazement, a defacement turned into a welcomed change. He smiled, finally. "Thank you!"

Dyarhk flattened his hair with his palm as he ran out of it and into that woman's arms while he sheathed that knife. He drew that axe very procedurally, flipping its blade down and laying it against the wall as he then laid against the wall beside it, looking around at the many frightened Adennians that looked at him fearfully. He could only close his eyes to them, unwanting to see himself regarded as some kind of foe. He wanted to preserve his powerful will to help them. "........."

Dyarhk

Seirichi could only focus on herself right now. The way she had been feeling. Atae told her to stay -- told her to stay here, be warm, rest.. but all the while others had been fighting. Fighting a battle should of been here for. She should be out there -- escorting people HERE.. Trying to quell the guardians! Something! Anything! It was the main reason why she couldn't sit down. Her body had found the nearest window opening. She looked out through the cove.. only able to make out the smallest sign of rain from beyond the bright glow from the roaring fires of the outside.

"........... Dammit.." Muttering to herself as her forehead found the hardness of the wall. ".. Dammit..!" Yelling out. A loud bang sounding as her fist hit the wall with enough force to cause the wood to splinter. Even while holding back.. her strength could be quite frightening. ".. I can't just rest here.." Palms pushed against as she quickly turned herself about and made a beeline over to Dyarhk. Obviously, she wasn't amused by any of this.. "Dark! I can't just f*cking sit around here like nothing is going on!" Fingers clenched into balled fists as she tired to suppress her anger.

This whole situation, herself.. it was all making her so angry. It wasn't like this would be any secret.. her anger swelled up, enough to cause that Siovanui energy to begin flowing free. "I need to do something..!" Another yell, and a turn.. that's when she'd see the others. The way they looked at her.. Already scared from the storm, having their lives changed.. their city changed.. and here she was. Booming her voice in such a way that could even drown out the storm outside. "... I.. need to do something." Mumbling as she took a step back. Her shoulders finding the wall that the man had been up against. slowly sliding herself down so that her rump met the floor beside him. " ....... "

He slowly opened his eyes and stared up at her. "You need to calm down. You're starting to scare the kids." he closed his eyes once more as he heard her control herself, and slide down beside him. If she had paid attention, she would see he had already found out that it was futile to do anything. "There are more important things sometimes, Seiri, than rushing into a fight. Atae has made that very clear. The best thing we can do right now, is wait." he put an arm around her. "We'll know something soon. But we don't need your emotions getting in the way. Come here. -- " he bundled them up warmly in that sheet of a nightly cloak he wore.

Outside, it was damp with the harshness of the rain from earlier, but inside, as it had clung to him, was warm, and dry, and carried a scent of him. "Talk with me. Focus on something else... Tell me more about your son."

"... My son.. how can I even think of bringing him to a place like this.." Gritting her teeth. ".. I hate this, Dark.. I can't stand just sitting here and nothing nothing. My mothers are out there doing their part.. I can feel Mommy, right now, trying her best with the magical energy she has left to spare.. but no, here I am having to sit here and wait out this storm.. a storm that could of never happened if I had just listened to Havelast and came back here." She swallowed back. Or -- more like swallowed back her guilt as she sat there. Enveloped by the warmth of that cloak..

"..... " Dyarhk stared at her intently.

She grew silent once more. Focus, he told her to focus on something. It was hard not to.. Everything she thought about, it just brought her back to Adenna.. a city she forsake for a war that she shouldn't of even been involved with. But that wasn't the only thing. That warmth from the cloak.. it had her thinking about Adenna as well, but not the Adenna of now.. No, the Adenna of the past -- those rocks.. the water that splashed against them and the sounds of Veron's funeral echoing throughout the night sky. Maybe it was why she grasped at it. Held it closer to her body as head sunk to meet crossed arms over risen knees. ?... I still have that jacket, you know.." Thinking of something else.

"You have to believe me..." he pressed his head strongly against her own. As much bodily warmth and serious intent as he could muster. It was hard to disagree with her, especially when she was right in her own ways, but so was he. But that was when, strangely, she seemed to calm. "Hm?" at mention of a jacket. He was confused, looking at her, unsure of what she meant at first, until he really thought about it.

"..Oh.! That old thing..? That was a cold night. The waters couldn't have been any better." he frowned at the thought of her year-long trip away from Adenna, but, a necessary one, he felt.

Seirichi sat there enjoying the warmth. Enjoying the small bit of light in the madness that was going on all around here. ".. Don't try and act like it's just a jacket.. That jacket was the first thing that kept me warm after I lost Veron.. I never thought I could feel anything else but sorrow after that.. and now, Adenna is in trouble.. and the first f*cking thing that helps me hold onto any sanity is that same feeling..?

"Seiri..." he moved his cheek from her crown, and his nose from the sweet scent of her hair to look at her. "But the difference is this time, I am with you." he pushed his head into her again, closer to her forehead and the side of her face. "It hurts me to see you so hurt yourself. But I won't let you rush into this fight. You matter too much to me, you always have. And I won't let you spend another needless moment alone in the cold."

"... It hurts me to see Adenna suffer.. I need to do what's best for her." Chest rose and fell with a heavy sigh. ".. But yeah - you're with me.." it may have sounded lackluster coming from her lips.. but on the inside, she meant much more by them. Dyarhk was here with her.. not in Rhy'Din, not back on that planet.. But here. He dropped everything and went along with her. Was that what love made a person do? Love.. Seirichi, it was still new to her. She knew she had feelings for him, but to say love still felt so strange, but at the same time so right. Hand rose up and gently placed itself over his cheek before her own turned from his forehead. A soft kiss graced those lips -- another source of warmth.

His eyes closed, dispelling everyone else in the room for the moment. In many ways, it was what everyone else was doing: clinging to their loved ones, relishing what they had now that so much had been lost. Their kiss broke after the first tender contribution. "...and I will do everything in my power to restore Adenna, and cast out these invaders, so we can have more moments like these, playing with your son, in the sunlight, instead of this rain."

"I'd like that.. I'd f*cking like that a lot." Thunk! The back of her head met the hard wood wall as she peered up at the ceiling. ".... What I wouldn't give just to see that sunlight right now." Returning her gaze out to the people all around them -- though her words had only been meant for Dyarhk. ".. I just need to try and visualize this.. You know? Try and give myself some hope to look forward to. I'm going to make this happen.. and that's a promise. Okay? It's a promise.. and you better hold me to it."

He smiled to her, the first, truly, since entering the portal to Adenna and into this nightmare. "Now that is how a Siovanui's power is meant to be used." watching her, in her moment of confidence, and he knew, that she would carry it to battle with her. She would fight, she would survive, to see that sunlight.

"You know it." A smile. A bright Seirichi smile. Yes, she had her goal now and she wouldn't stop till it was finished. And just then, with a woosh, a magnificently dressed warrior blinked into the doorway separating the rest area with the kitchen. Dyarhk blinked before hearing Atae squeal.
"Darrling!!" falling into his embrace. It seemed for the moment, she was the unfocused one. Her infamous husband looked down to her in his arms. "The Magma Lord is being dealt with swiftly. I am glad to see you are well." he then took a scan through that doorway, to the golden axe against the wall, and the two seated beside it. "And it would appear our final Siovanui has returned..." focusing his eyes on Seirichi with a grin.

Waiting, paid off. Instead of being off fighting the aquatic guardian of Adenna, they had stayed in Atae's care, and long enough to be found by Eizou. Dyarhk gave a respectful nod to him in these desperate hours, coming to a stand now with Seirichi as both he and his wife came over to them.

"I was wondering when you would get here. I'm glad you came." Eizou smiled to Seirichi. "And Dark, also? Our old ally, your services would be greatly appreciated. There's no safe way to Adenna City at the moment. But by the end of the day I plan on having a working connection from here to it. But with me, I think I could smuggle two aids in." another smile from the great doctor and scientist of Adenna. Atae put one of her own on as she looked over Seiri. ?How about it, Seiri. Would you like to see your Mom?"

That's right, Tetch was in the city somewherre, keeping the bridge dragon at bay. Dyarhk thought on this while he watched a woman approach with tears in her eyes. "Eizou?? You can reach the city? Take me with you, please! My husband was there when the attack came! I have to know if he's safe!"

Atae crowd-controlled. If Seiri and Dyarhk were getting free passes and others were not, this had to be mediated very quickly. "Now, now. I am sure he is fine. Remember, no one was killed in this attack."

"But people are still missing! What if he is dying? Or is already dead!" She bawled some more, but Atae was there for her, as was she for so many women of Adenna. Seldom was a citizen or person out of her motherly care. Dyarhk slipped his fingers into the aperture on the face of his axe, still grunting to command its mighty weight. Fitting said slot of said axe onto the lower golden spade at the back of his shoulder armor, he began working his cloak enchanted by Lilith partially over it.

Eizou looked over his new attire, liking what he saw before he looked over to Atae who was still calming the woman. "You have to stay here, where it is safe, just a little while longer. She is one of our Siovanui. She has to go." Atae patted the woman's hand she held. The woman seemed understanding, but it didn't make her cry any less.

Eizou looked back to the two of them; Seiri who looked ready, eager; and Dyarhk who looked prepared to do what he had to. "...Let's get you two to the city." he walked back to the doorway, and a transport post immediately rose out of the flooring, and timed perfectly for the hawk figurehead atop it to communicate with his magical energy. A portal opened. "Watch out for falling debris." he looked back to them.

Dyarhk walked past him, but not before a pat on the shoulder in doing so. "It is good to see you, Eizou."

"Get on with that thing!" Eizou said laughing and giving him a friendly shove poking fun at the size of his axe. On through the portal he went.

Though she felt for the bawling woman.. she knew it had to be this way. Seirichi had to go. As Atae said -- she was a Siovanui. She wasn't here when the attack had happened.. but she was here now, and she needed to get as close to the conflict as possible to try and do some good for the city she had forsaken. "Thank you, Eizou."
It's all she could really say as she looked to the transporter. A step was taken, but then she fell still. Dyarhk had already gone throught he portal before her.. and would probably be waiting for her to exit out of it as well -- but he'd have to wait a few more moments as Seirichi turned to look at the crying woman. "You. What is your husband's name? I will ask if anyone has seen him."

The woman held her hands together to help maintain her composure. There was a rip in her apron and her face was dirty. What a radical change from the brightness of most Adennians. And although their worry fell just as stranger on them, their hope was something that remained with them all. She slowly looked up to Seirichi, the only Siovanui that had ever spoken to her. She blinked, before her eyes began to well tears once more. "Oh thank you. Thank you. Charles is my husband's name. Charles Raet. He is one of Adenna's finest carpenters, and a loving father. Please, see that he is alright. Bless you." the woman grabbed Seirichi's hand and, shakily, hurried it to her lips for a kiss, rubbing it also shakily.

Atae saw this opportune to put her hands on the woman's shoulders and guide her into her embrace while she gradually looked to Seirichi. "...Go on, Seiri. Your age is showing." Atae said in a hushed voice, something just between them. A smile to her.

The Siovanui kept silent. Taking in all the information the woman had given her.. Name, occupation. This becoming a personal mission she wouldn't allow herself to fail as well. The city, the people -- this is what she could do to make it up for them. "Don't worry." As the woman was taken back by Atae. Seirichi rose a hand and curled those fingers into a fist before her thumb rose up. "You have my word. I will find your husband." That, along with her arm dropping, would be the last the woman would do before turning herself around and entering into the portal.

Dyarhk

On the other side was like being inside of an enormous cave. An enormous cave with no opening or ending in sight, and a city and market within it all. There were far more people here than the farther reached homes and small villages on Adenna's coast. It felt largely underground here, but was naturally lit on-top of all the various fires and magic that shone in buildings and windows. It was comforting, in a small way, to see so many buildings unharmed. But at the same time, it was an awful, warped take on Adenna.

It looked more burdened than damaged, which was not to say there were not demolished homes, but this was clearly a problem that was being addressed. Seirichi found herself just past the market, and in the Adenna central district, the path to the castle blocked by an enormous iron link. Dyarhk was nowhere in sight, but Eizou had waited for her. "Do not look so distressed, Seiri. It is nowhere near as severe as you make it look in your eyes. It is just slightly worse than dealing with a flood. No one has died. That is the victory of this tragedy." he looked back to her as he began to walk with her.

"Your mother's just past the castle. The dragon has tried to burrow in, but Tetch quickly turns that into a game of whack-a-mole. Here, see this?" He crouched under a large hunk of Earth that ran all the way up to their very roof of the same composition. It was all island floor, roofing them. And under it, where he had led her, he showed her a partial giant iron link. "Should look familiar, to anyone with experience of the soul-attached swords." he would wait a moment.

"It is indeed, Ko'Rudoche. Great chains of the aethers." He took in the enormous sight of the thing. "It is so tightly bound to Adenna and all the islands now, we see more harm than good coming from unchaining it. This is why we gave your mom the bridge dragon to deal with. She was working demolition, trying to free Adenna of these isles and chains. But I think this situation much different than your mother." he navigated the rest of the low walk with her, coming to the full openness of the district before Daichi's castle, and the many buildings and towers that surrounded it. The streets were largely unaffected and it looked strangely inviting. "No, I see this much less irreversible than your mother, and much more livable. We were attuned with the guardians once before, we may have to do it again. And if this is in the cards, then your mother from Liltu will be the first to make peace again with one of the guardians. Our minds have been free of illusion from the ice spider due to her efforts this very moment. The tea house in the show is where she is communing from. Don't worry..." Eizou looked around, hands on his hips.
"She'll switch out with Rijn shortly, and you and her can catch up. Surprisingly the guardians... they don't bother us so much at night. We may eat and rest yet. But if it's work you're looking for, I'm sure your strength would be appreciated in setting up braces against the islands pressing against us. We stabilize them, then we can figure out what we can do next. If you'll excuse me for a moment."

Eizou's hands left both her shoulders while he moved towards the castle entrance to help look over a map. This left Seirichi alone for the time-being, but almost instantly there was work to be done. A thick beam of wood had cracked that a team of men were setting up on the side of one of the islands, and it began to splinter the one beside it. The pressure of these islands pushing upon Adenna was phenomenal, and quickly the men's chants of orders turned louder and louder as they scurried to set up another beam from the stack of them. The men also occasionally shouted "RAINN!" to signify falling debris. Hunks of hard mud and stone sometimes fell from the tall ceiling, and the torch-made lances that had been hurled up into it aided further in dispelling this darkness and showing clearly what they were working with.

" Adenna.. " Seirichi spoke softly to herself as she looked about the scene before her. It felt so confined.. so trapped. The Adenna sky she so loved to look up at with Veron during the twilight of dusk was no longer visable. Only rock and earth of the islands remained.
Still, she wouldn't be left to her thoughts for long as trouble rose. The sound of a support beam snapping and the worried men would soon take her attention. Quickly, she sprung into action as she leaped forward. Foot met ground, and other wall as she propelled herself up from wall to wall till she found herself draw closer and closer to the crisis at hand. If one beam broke, soon another could.. and then another. "Get another ready!" Barking out her own orders as she moved past a few of the working men. Hands clapped against one another as she psyched herself up and climbed up next to the splintering support beam. Head dipped and shoulders rose to allow Seirichi to literally hold that small part of the island on her shoulders. Muscles flexed and body began to strain -- all before she allowed herself to let loose.. Feeling that flow of energy let loose from her body, making the task a very much easier experience. "Hurry, set it in place!"

"Huh? one man went. "A Siovanui?"

"It's the princess!" another exclaimed. The men were wowed at the sight of a Siovanui. Their eyes lit aflame through the dirt adorn their faces. Hope had been rekindled. Together they heaved with a strength and stamina they had not previously been using. And before long, the quaking of the islands innards and bowing of beams had ceased. Working alongside Seirichi had strangely calmed and reassured them, as they came to step back and look over the new bracings, and then thanking her genuinely. "Thank goodness you came. I don't know what would have happened if you hadn't." the man laughed, softly.

"What is this I hear?? My second Siovanui dared show up late?" the prolific voice of Havelast sounded, showing as he approached them with Dyarhk by his side.

"She knows you're kidding, Havelast." Dyarhk spoke with some control over the man he had been adventuring with for so long. Of course, Havelast dropped his serious face, like with the flip of a switch, and smiled softly to her, which was leaps and bounds of friendliness from his regular composure. He stepped up to Seiri, observing the Herculean placement of a thick support beam, recognizing the strength of a Siovanui when he saw one. He looked to all the men, the single nod he gave meant for the lot of them, to tell them, they were doing a good job. He pulled Seiri singlehandedly into his shoulder for a brief hug. "I'm glad you came. Welcome Home." said softly between the two of them as he came back, and fired a wink. The kind of wink a tough guy gives to show he has a soft side deep down somewhere.

"Now let's get the rest of these up. I'll show you men how it's done." Havelast said, reigniting further the men's morale. Their leader on the repair efforts would be working elbow to elbow with them now. Disrobing himself of his decorative cloak, he began practice-gripping his hands together and flexing his arms back and forth. "You going to try and show me up, Palliator?" He taunted.

Dyarhk already began grinning, removing that axe and setting it against the side of the building they were setting up braces to help fortify. "....." he smiled contentedly to the challenge. Draping his now removed cloak over the axe, but leaving Crall's golden shoulder on. "Watch Seiri out-lift us both." Dyarhk suggested, going over to the dark therapy knight himself and beginning to test grips around these support beams.

"A woman? Pah!" Havelast huffed as with the aid of the Palliator, the two of them were able to lift the beam themselves. The men were happy, smiling, taken away from the disaster for the moment at the sight of friendly competition via hard work.

"Let's hear it for Seirichi! Our Siovanui!" A man chanted, and the lot of the men paused what they were doing for the moment to applaud. Was she here when this all broke out? No. But was she here now, when it counted? Yes. Dyarhk took this moment to stop Havelast's march to the back wall, causing him to shoot him a curious look. Dyarhk was spellbound, smiling to Seirichi's reaction of the people she didn't expect so glad to see her. He was happy for her. A horn sounded then, to supersede any noise-making going on when it was heard.

By Havelast and the men's understanding, it was the recovery effort's Second in Command, after him: Sir Anthony. A man of white-blond hair, and looked to be close to Dyarhk's age. He approached with his captains, one of which had sounded the horn, and looked about the crowd. "Did I hear correctly? Adenna's Princess has returned?" Anthony's blue eyes scanned the crowd before spotting her with surprise. It had been over a year, but there she was.

"Princess Seirichi. You are alive and well?" he combed through the working men, his captains doing the same, clearing a path free of dirty workers for his flawless and colorful garments to flow untouched. He stopped before her, also dirty, but he showed no hesitation to taint his wears from such a member of royalty. "Are you injured? You must come to the castle to clean yourself up, and eat, and meet with Rahea and Victor. After you have regained your energy you can come back to help these people."

Here she stood. Princess.. Siovanui to these people. Yes, she thought they would hate her -- tell her that such events were her fault because she never came back. But here she was.. cheers all around. Her name being called out by the same men she feared to look into the faces of only moments ago. The woman had to strengthen herself now as she felt her eyes grow watery. She couldn't cry, she must not cry. But at the same time it was such an overwhelming feeling. So, with a heavy yet happy sigh, she rose her hands up to the men and give off the brightest smile she could muster. "We're not done yet! And I, your Siovanui, will be here every step of the way!" Arms fell, but her smile didn't.
Seirichi felt too happy.. She walked among the men soon after. Handshakes, shoulder pats, all given to those around her for a job well done. But then another voice was heard.. She looked to the man -- yet only knew his name. An acquaintance if anything to her. The brown haired beauty gave a raised eyebrow to his question. "Am I injured? If I was you couldn't exactly call me a princess -- now, could you?" A grin flashing over her features. "Rahea and Old Vic? I can't exactly say no to that.. but, truthfully, I'd rather stay here and help these men." said as arms crossed under her chest. "I've eaten and rested enough. Adenna's restoration waits for no one. Not even a Princess."

Anthony was rather taken back, surprised to hear this objection. Yes, he had thought things through much differently. But no matter. "Eh -- uhm, of course, these men." Anthony looked over them, but not as any one man. He looked to them as a collective of the lower class. Havelast working with them only lowered his respect of the man. He put his hands on Seiri's shoulders. "Princess. You are a symbol of the people. Just showing your face to the council, I'm sure, will ease the minds of the sorrowful throughout Adenna. I am sure your mother, Techichi, would also like to know of your arrival, as I would have." He removed a hand to place his arm around her as he faced the castle, gesturing to his captains with waves of his hand.

"Fetch the Princess some clean clothes, and draw her a bath. She will go before our Kings shortly. I must insist, Seirichi. Come, allow me to escort you." his arm around her removed, only to offer it to her as a gentleman.

"...I have to show my face to them sometime.. I guess now's as good a time as any." A sigh left her lips as she looked back to the men. "I'll return once I've settled things with the council.. Havelast, I take it you're staying here?" spoken to the knight as she raised her voice accordingly. "And what about you, Dark?"

She would of liked for him to come.. but -- at the same time, if his strength could be used to help these men; she'd rather him stay here. This would also, in turn, cause her to completely ignore the gesture for Anthony's arm. She seemed to be too caught up with the others around her to give him her single-most attention.

"Yes, I can make much better progress dirtying my hands than commanding with them. You go on ahead." Havelast waved her off before placing this beam up. It would find a home, eventually. But for now, it was just in place, ready to be used. He looked to Dyarhk now, who had helped him move this beam, now with free hands as well.

"Havelast.... watch my axe." he said as he now paved through the men, but did so much more appreciatively, not unlike Seiri, patting shoulders and shaking hands.

"I'm sure such rulings of the court will only bore a man such as yourself." Anthony suggested.

"Rahea and Vic are pretty cool, usually. I think I can handle it, Sir Knight." a look to Seirichi they both understood. It was obvious Anthony did not know of his relationship to Adenna. Not that he should have, but he seemed surprised by repeated objections.

"Suit yourself. Come, Princess." he offered his arm again just as Dyarhk came up beside her other side."

You heard him, Princess. Move along." a grin was barely noticeable on his face as he would slowly start to pass her. It was evident he found this procedural nonsense a little misplaced. The thought of saying something along the lines of ``What're you grinning about?!`` came -- but that was the time she caught the attention of Sir Antony. Seeing his arm held out for her.. a soft blink of those eyes given. The thought of taking the arm was no problem to her, but she just liked keeping her own freed for anything that could come up. "Thanks, but I think I can handle it myself." Seirichi placed her own arms behind her back just then. Fingers taking to one another; holding them palm to palm as she began to follow the golden-shouldered man already on his way to the castle.

"How're those two doing, anyway? The stress from all of this must be pretty huge for them." she cutely called back to him.

Anthony shot a glare of angry blue eyes upon Dyarhk taking the lead to the castle before looking away from him altogether. Seirichi had taken his attention, and again, he was surprised by her resistance. "O - Ofv.. course." He signaled to his men with another hand gesture to move forward, and thus, their journey began. The walk to the castle was a somewhat lengthy one to the eyes, but in reality only a matter of minutes. Crossing into the openness of the district where all the trade usually trafficked was barren and ghastly now.
Anthony showed his commanding hand held high when they reached the Ko'Rudoche obstruction, causing many of the archers posted up on the castle walls to switch stances from a ready position to a lowered one. It was not as if they had been aiming at them, but was more of a courtesy, as was much of Anthony's policies thus far. Passing under tunnel of wood what partially suspended one of the links of Ko'Rudoche's chain to create a cold walkway. Coming out from it they were presented with lush green lawns and foliage, white paths, colorful flowers and gardens, and a natural sunlight that seemed to emit from them. Such was the mysteries of this castle, and its many secrets.

Anthony's cape shone true here, a purple back with gold interior, and his white armor with dark blue Adennian script upon it. He looked back to Seirichi with a warm smile. "Welcome Home, Princess."

Dyarhk navigated the obstruction, and stepped into the cold of the tunnel as he passed through to fully see the courtyard of the great castle. It was partially wrapped in the giant chain he had only heard about when Techichi had taken her guardian trials. Seeing it was something else entirely. He popped the hand of a captain what grabbed his wrist if just to tell him not to worry about him being so close to royal quarters unchecked. But who knew, maybe it was something else entirely.

"If you will come with me." Anthony said to them both, leading them up the beautiful white steps; steps that slowly became shadowed by the chains gripping the face of the castle and obscuring the beautiful stained glass and windows of the many rooms; they were truly something to behold. But once inside, things seemed perfectly normal.

"I don't think our attackers planned on Adenna's resilience. This place looks brand new." Dyarhk said, looking around. A captain however, became quite infuriated with him.

"Are you trying to say Adenna did not suffer great losses?! Need I remind you, outsider, that you are one of the only present here unrelated to our city. Liltu is apart of our Queen's marriage to the Lilith, and thus our marriage of military power. But all you are, is being kept an eye on." he pointed a finger. Dyarhk stared at him seriously, surprised to hear such a thing. But Anthony stood up for him.

"Now, now. Forgive him, axeman. -- " Dyarhk blinked at him. " -- Adenna is a very shy country. It is hard for her to make friends. Please, allow me to offer you a seat while we go before the royal court." Another face from Dyarhk. This man commanded authority, and the fact his information on him was what it was, was disconcerting. He shot a glance to Seirichi, seeing if she had caught onto this as well. But either way, he figured he best go along with the tide, or heaven forbid face charges of treason.

Dyarhk walked to the hall and slowly sat, looking for approval sarcastically. "I hope you are comfortable. Any of our servants may be called upon to bring you a drink, a refreshment. But if you'll excuse me. Guards." he called the two knights from the front door to this crossing of two hallways to stand guard there; stand guard where Dyarhk was. Anthony then, instead of offering Seirichi his arm, gestured for her to walk down the hall, and he would walk beside her. The castle was as maintained as anyone would recognize, and Anthony's confident walk through it suggested it was perfectly safe.

"Sit there and be good, Dark. Best behavior." She gave a grin his direction. All he needed to do was sit tight.. once all of this was over she could grab at 'em and they could go back out among the people and help rebuild. Plus, hey, he was a friend of the families -- what could he do that she or her mothers couldn't get him out of?

"Yeah. yeah." he felt about the sturdiness of his golden shoulder plate, running his hand over the catch in it, realizing he had yet to hold the axe over it like it was meant for. He pondered, something else on his mind as well, as he watched Seiri and Anthony move down the hall together. "....."

"I cannot tell you how happy it makes me to see your safe return. You know we prayed long nights for the return of our second, legendary ascended. To see you return to us fills my heart." Anthony opened a chamber with lock and key, and presented a large congregation hall, and also largely empty. He extended his arm, showing her inside, as he then walked in leaving the door open to place his blue-feathered helmet on the long table that expanded the length of the room. Outside, Dyarhk slowly crossed his legs and tried and make comfortable, looking up to the two guards who stared robotic-ly forward, seemingly unknowing of him. This space was quiet, and it just made noises all the more obvious when they were there to be heard.

"The others will be here shortly. Can I get you anything?" Anthony asked, looking over to her while he walked to the wall to hang his sword.

It would now be her and Anthony alone for the moment. Walking through a hall she hadn't seen in a year.. all the changes and yet the castle was still beautiful to her. Moving into the room after the knight so kindly opened it for her.. Seirichi looked about before turning her form to take him into her sights once more. "Um.."

Um -- it wasn't exactly princess like, now was it? The woman couldn't help but give off a soft chuckle as she waved a hand in front of herself. "You can calm down.. Don't need to be so formal with me, alright? Take a load off -- you must of been working hard these past few days too, right?"

Inside, Anthony had indeed been formal But seeing Seirichi open up to him, he was able to sigh, and drop some posture that had been up for show up until now. "I am sorry, Seirichi. It has indeed been rough. Commanding so many men, and seeing to so much devastation is taking its toll. But the sight of you calms my spirit." he came to the end of the table, where he had come in at, and his hand slowly left the back of the end chair. He was reminded suddenly about the closed meeting it would be, and procedurally closed the door. "The men are just uneasy. They do not know the rigorous work of the others, such as your Mom; such as you."

"Aww! How sweet. " Another laugh. She couldn't help but ease herself into some sort of relaxation as she stood there within the castle, amongsts friends. " I think they understand.. they just have so many things to take care of that it's hard for them to think of anything but the task at hand. I'm sort of like that. " Laughing once more.. but then -- she'd soon stop as she felt him come closer. Her eyes softly blinking as her hand was taken.

"You are a princess of Adenna. One I have watched come into fruition from such a promising age. Ha... Hahaha." he laughed, a sweet smile from the blond man. "I remember when you were young, you used to say you would become the best Siovanui ever. You were not lying. We are so proud of you." Anthony said, taking her into embrace, and then proceeding to talk to her over her shoulder. "What a warrior you've become... what a woman... you've become." his voice slowly turned from over her shoulder to her throat where his breath fell upon. Upon her, his hands that wrapped her slowly rose her sides and one made for her protruding bosom while his other seized her chin and tried and guide her lips onto his own. "So beautiful..."

".. I guess I'd say something like that.. But, yes.. thank you." Uncomfortable. The hand was enough -- but now the hug. But one could chalk that up to the emotional toll that the attack on Adenna had created. She was their Siovanui after all; but that wouldn't be the end of it. What came next -- when those lips almost brushed against her own, that was enough for her to send a palm straight into his chest and push him away. "No."

Calm. Collect. Not even the smallest sign of fear or uncertainty could be heard in her voice. It wasn't a request -- it was an order. ".. I take it back. You should be more formal when around me."

Anthony gasped, pulled suddenly, or slapped, rather, back into reality. This was quite the situation, but
he had to make light of it, or it become far, far too serious. "I am sorry. I was out of order with that." he blinked to her several times, still shocked, but trying to re-enter friendly status. "You have had a long day. I'm sure you want to get back to your friends." he reclaimed his sword and helmet with no talk of meeting the elders, and he hoped she would not bring it up either. Going to see them now after this was, not possible. He had hoped by offering that, they could both forget about all this.

Seirichi only felt annoyed. "No. I'd rather speak with Rahea and Old Vic." That's what she was here for. That's what he pulled her away from those men she had been helping for. Why even bother coming if at the end she wouldn't be seeing them? "I don't need you here to speak with them.. you can go back to commanding your men." She turned away then and looked to one of the many decorative artworks on the wall. It's not that she enjoyed looking at them.. it was just that she'd rather have her eyes on it than the man behind her.

"Seirichi..." he said with a history of adoration. "I must know. Do you plan to bring this up with Techichi." It was apparent he feared her, as anyone should if they came into general contact with her, let alone cross her, let alone move on her daughter. "I was not thinking clearly." A Siovanui of Adenna was a precious thing. Anthony had expressed interest back before she was born in her mother, but a relationship never blossomed. And throughout Seirichi's youth he hadn't thought twice about it, but a lust had begun as soon as she had hit puberty, or rather puberty hit her. Leaving a Siovanui without a man long enough would have been a fool's mistake, but somehow he felt he had now messed that up as well.

"They are in the room of dead leaves, where last Adenna came to hearing the Winterhill crisis." he opened the great door, sounding depressed, and desperate for a chance to fall back into her good graces. "I will see your friend is looked after should you still choose you want to see them."

" .. Don't worry, you won't be getting any surprise visits from my mother. So don't start making plans for your funeral just yet." Fingers tapped along her crossed arm as she continued to look at the painting. " .. Good. Be sure to treat him with as much respect as you would give me. I don't like how your men spoke to him." She'd leave it at that. No need to continue speaking with him.. For now, she'd see it as some sort of mistake -- and maybe in a small while she will be able to look him eye to eye. But right now? She couldn't.
Calm steps took her across the floor once more as she made way to exit from the room so that she could head to her next location; the room of dead leaves.

With his legs crossed, Dyarhk closed his eyes while he tried and mentally rush these proceedings along. A door then opened down the hall. Those large double doors he had heard Seirichi and Anthony enter. His green eyes opened for him to look down the hall with. Sir Anthony stepped out, his helmet under his arm, and he then turned to face Seiri who only stopped briefly to say something before heading to the widening staircase at the end of the hall. Anthony however, turned and began coming Dyarhk's direction. Combing a hand multiple times through his blond locks, he stopped before the Palliator.

"That woman is far more amazing than I ever remembered."

"...Yeah, she's weird."

Ascending these stairs was nothing Seiri had never done before, but it was always intimidating to go up them; deeper into the eldest of the city, and where Daichi once ruled. Coming up to a terrace on the second tier, it opened up to an enormously large hall that went on to an identical terrace in the back. Tens of doorways on each wall, but only two were hulking, and impressionable. Doors that looked like they would creak deep into your ears and send a shiver throughout your body. Only two nights were on guard up here, and they both stood at the same door. One took notice of Seirichi.

"It's the Princess." he said softly, but with surprise. He held his sword still while he walked over to her, stopping to hold his chest out. "Do you seek an audience with Rahea and Victor?"

Calm steps continued forward.. right until that final one that took her to the dead center of that large room. Her form fell still -- as if she were a statue of sorts; and she waited. As the guard approached and spoke, Seirichi would respond without much delay. "Yes. If they will allow it." Simple and sweet. She couldn't be Seirichi right now; carefree and a little upbeat. As of now she was the Siovanui of the great city of Adenna.. that is till she walked through those doors and spoke with the two men who could be seen as some sort of father figures in her life. She was worried somewhat; how would they treat her. Atea was the same.. as well as her husband. Maybe, just maybe she will be forgiven by these two greats as well.

"Allow it?" The knight seemed entertained by her precaution. It made him huff a laugh, a single one. "Of course." Turning, expecting her to follow as he marched over and powerfully gripped on the two door handles, shoving the double doors open, also powerfully. All at once, the sight of the newly renovated room of dead leaves poured in. A rise of two steps made the higher platform for the royalty to sit, and there they were, Rahea and "Old" Victor.
Beautiful red carpet trailing from each their thrones, not a speck of dirt or dust to be found. And between the two great men, a woman sat, blindfolded, her mouth agape, and all of her silent. She barely wore any clothes, her breasts bound by laces that constricted their natural form, and barely served to keep them unexposed for the most part. It was a curious sight. Once stepping inside, the doors would be shut behind Seiri by that knight that had recognized her power and position so astutely.

"The true second daughter of Adenna... she lives after all." Victor said.

"So the prophet informs us. Step closer, Seirichi. It has been long since I have seen your face, and it has changed so much." Rahea motioned her closer with that hand of his, for her to close some of this great distance that was this echoing room.

It was the first sight she laid eyes on.. the first thing she was ``drawn`` to. Almost compelled to look at. That figure.. it reeked so much of weakness, but at the same time -- even Seirichi could feel some sort of power coming off from it. A power that caused her skin to crawl. The only thing that came to her mind wasn't the two older men she knew ever since she was a child.. but the woman she had no clue about. What - was ? she..? But voices, they echoed within her mind. Familiar voices that finally brought her back to reality. "Y.. yes.."
Her voice weak. She had to compose herself. With a swallow Seirichi would step forward and take in a deep breath; only to let it out a few seconds after. "Rahea." A nod of her head and a smile. "Old Vic." The same done for the other as well.. but -- those eyes couldn't help but drift to the woman in the middle once more.. who, upon making contact, seemed to tense up.

"Yes, it is hard to recognize you now, Seirichi. I believe being away from Adenna is what has changed you. For the better or not, I am still undecided."

"You hold your head too high. A Siovanui's obligation is to her city. You fled upon ascending. You return to our city with shame." Victor said distastefully at looking to her.

"I harbor no ill will. But my city's wellbeing is always in my mind. The outside world is a poisonous place, and I will not risk you, and all your power, having been poisoned *by* it." Rahea said sternly, looking at her. The woman between them began to moan softly, her parted lips mouthing ever so softly words that could not be interpreted. Rahea leaned closer to her. "..........."

Victor watched intently. Not dropping in his seriousness for a moment. "Adenna is lucky to have, in its stead of a fleeing symbol of heroism, a seer of hope. An oracle what has saved countless Adennian lives. Far more than she should have. But then again, you had done far less than you should have."

"What does the oracle whisper?" Victor asked, his half-formed fist at his mouth. "Seirichi returns to us infected by the common man's dream. She is sickened by normalcy, and blinded by... love. A son, from her ascension pregnancy."

"Veron..." Victor looked angrily, metaphorically punching the wall far off as he stared harshly into it.

"But there is hope, she says. Give the Siovanui a task of ill importance. We have not received magical contact from either Rijn or the Lilith of Liltu. Send her there, to check on her mother and countryman. Her dignity may yet be recovered." Rahea said, running a finger over the blind girl's hair, flinging a lock back behind her shoulder.

" ............... " Her own lips parted. Wanting to speak -- wanting to plead her case.. She had hoped things would have gone differently, but to see them act such a way toward her.. hear the words that left their lips. She deserved every single word. It was like one hit after another to her Adenna pride; and she took them in silence. One after another.. each of them worse than before. ".. Karaichi.." Would be the first words to leave those lips as she heard of her son being spoken off.. and then -- Veron.. and it all seemed to be coming from this woman in the middle. Who.. was she..?! It wasn't just that. The feeling that reeked off her became even more and more apparent.

The hair on the back of her neck standing on end. The only thing she felt for her was one word; threat.. But the way they spoke of her, an oracle.. She saved the lives of those in this city? She wanted to ask -- but she couldn't. ".. My mother..?" Lips thinning out. The ice spider -- that was where she heard her mother had been. No magical contact? This couldn't mean well. "Yes. Of course. I'll do just that..."

The castle, and all of Adenna experienced a soft tremor, and a growl from afar, deep within the earth. Rahea looked to the jingling of their priceless chandelier, Dyarhk the jingling of the servant's china, and Havelast outside at the sprinkling of dirt from the walls of the islands. They all shared the same look: What was this? And then; The Big One.

Much, if not all of Adenna lost its balance in the uprising of the ground, the streets, the insides of their homes, and the noteworthy dining room of the castle completely caving in to this quake. Dyarhk and Anthony instantly grabbed what was around them for stability, their section of the castle unaffected by any uprisings of the structure. A new sound then, a sound of a giant machine slowly cranking. This was the sound, of Ko'Rudoche's mighty iron links coiling, fastening tighter around what it already had been. The castles towers gave as they were squeezed, stained glass windows shattered from the pressure. The situation outside, much different now.

"Get 'em back! Get 'em all BACK!!" Havelast commanded the city there, experiencing the worst of this earthquake. But the rumbling would subside soon, and leave them to look over their devastation in stillness.

"Ghn..!" Dyarhk fought to his knees. Crumbs of stone wall all around him, glass, and pottery. Anthony still lay face-down, his magnificent purple and gold cape obscurely folded over him from his initial placement from the quake. But, like the guardsmen, he was stirring, they all were.

"Perhaps you had better start protecting your city, Princess. Or are you so used to doing nothing, while it is destroyed..?" Rahea delicately questioned to Seirichi, who wasted no time rushing out of the chamber.

The order-issuing twosome of knights at the front door of the castle shouted. "Who goes there?!" -- "ARCHERS!!" Men shouted, arrows launched, and magical bullets rained upwards from the front yard of the castle. A spike-protruding sphere of magic, having launched hundreds of magical spear-like needles up into the archers, and the two door guards at the front, was briefly seen before being recalled into the hand of a dark robed mage. Beside him, a faceless man, dressed all in black came up beside him as the two began to ascend the stairs up to the front door of the castle. The two guards joined Dyarhk in looking to the front as they were the first to stand to their feet, drawing their swords. As they did so, the black-dressed question of a man beside the black mage ran inside and took stance, extending both his arms and yanking them back. When he did so, he held the knights' very swords in his hands, and flung them out at blazing speeds from such average-looking arms. Steel penetrating steel. Their armor spilled blood at the waist from their wounds to the chest; it merely collected there, and they fell. Dyarhk fearfully looked on, before angrily turning to look at the men. '...I don't have my axe.' he thought.

The two men were fully inside now, facing only two men now after the servant was sent into a series of gurgling chokes with a tiny refreshment spreading knife impaled in her throat. The fingers of that black-dressed man slowly lowered, and his arm with them, back to his side, where he seemed expectant of hitting such a mark. Dyarhk hadn't even seen his attacks, only their aftermath. This unnerved him. Anthony finally rose to a stand, and drew his white sword. His hair a mess, as it seldom was, and often signified a losing battle. "We have to inform the council! Come on!" Anthony shouted to Dyarhk, yanking his shirt at his shoulder. He began to run, Dyarhk turning to watch him with surprise. The black mage then extended his arm, showing his handsome jaw under his hood, and his evil frown of indifference.
The heavy stone roof began to crumble, and drop down on the two men many tons of hard stone. Anthony dove forward, Dyarhk back. The hall filled with dust, and once cleared, Dyarhk could be seen picking at the now barrier of debris. "Anthony? Anthony where are you??" armor bouncing, boots sounding. On the other side, he was running. Dyarhk slowly brought his fist down upon the wall of rubble, shutting his eyes tightly. "....."

"Maybe you can help us..." the black mage began. Dyarhk's eyes opened, determined. He slowly turned to face them. "We are looking for the dark therapy knight. Maybe you have seen him."

Dyarhk drew the rhinoceros giant's knife, and prepared to do battle with them.

"...I guess not." The mage said simply at the sight of his blade. The man he entered with brought back his hand, now having that precise weapon, and hurled it out with much more speed than the swords that had weighed more. Dyarhk's eyes became wide as the sound of flesh was sliced, and blood went spewing onto the beautiful white walls.

Clenching his arm, having just barely avoided that. The loud clangor of his knife that did not break being the piece of impressive metallurgy that it was, spinning many dozens of times before coming to a nice and stationary halt. Painted with his blood, as was much of the wall, the cut in his arm was quite deep, but he still had control over the limb. 'Who are these guys??' he thought seeing them approach, and the magic-wielder of the two crouch before him.

He would never forget, he was black and pink in presence. Such a dominantly black robe, swarthy complexion, and magnificent pink-neckline of needle-like feathers all around, starting weakly at his chest and then furling out to the sides of his neck and the back of his neck where it was magnificently tall and beaming with the glow off the glow of the other feathers' intricacy. His long black hair, glistening almost as much, a raven black and complimentary to a handsome face unlike his companion's, stayed handsome even in expressions of evil.
He was musclebound, and contrary to most who wielded magic. Of course, if this would be the person who would kill him, then there is far more to the characters of realms of all shapes that remained to be seen. It also could be true, that the nonbelievers of such entities, met their fates at the subject of the very things they swore didn't exist. He extended a hand, one that could kill him at any second, and cradled his face.

"What a character your friend was, dressed like that. This is but one of the many cases in which it accounts for nothing. You were so easily abandoned. And what a character you are. The stereotypes enrage me. As if you were meant to survive..." releasing his face softly, so he could now collect more magic in that hand of his. A perfect sphere, he had never seen anything so perfect. And then, he flung it into the wall, taking down the entire hall in one glorious moment.

Dyarhk

?Sh*t.!? It echoed throughout the castle walls as Seirichi made down those halls. "Come on, Dark.. " She could feel him.. Dyahrk, his life.. it was dwindling away. That small flicker of flame that only needed the softest of blows to be put out forever. Ever since Nima placed that bridge, that connection between the two of them.. Seirichi only understood that aching in her heart as one thing and one thing only. He - was - dying. The castle, it was one place.. one place in Adenna that she thought she could have no worries.. But if even the treasure vault had been breached, what could stop enemies from waltzing into these hallowed halls?

?His life is meaningless. You cannot protect them all.?

A cold sweat broke out just then as she felt her knee give way. Her body quickly rocking to the right. Thankfully the wall had been there to catch her shoulder as she slumped against it momentarily. ".. What.. was that.." spoken with wide eyes. Goosebumps overtaking her skin.. but. "No.. F*ck, no! Hold yourself together!" yelling to herself as she pushed off from the wall and continued on. Questions arose in her mind.. What WAS that..?! But that ache in her heart pulled her back to what mattered the most. Boots skid across the hard floor as she turned the hall; and there she saw it. The rubble of the attack.. the destruction, she could even smell the bloodshed as well. Death.
"God dammit, Dark!" Yelling out with worried frustration as she followed that gut-feeling. The same feeling that led her to the fallen stone mound that plagued the hall. "He's.. Nn." Low.. in-between strong grunts as she began to grasp and throw back the fallen ceiling piece by piece. "You better not be dead. I'll be really pissed off if you gave up this easily..!" The process was quick.. Clearing this kind of wreckage was nothing for a Siovauni, but time was still of the essence.. Even the smallest time wasted could mean death for the man she'd known so long, and cared so deeply for.

But then, she could make out something.. It was his arm. ".. S.. sh*t.. Dark..!" shoveling more and more of that rock and foundation out of the way before she finally took in his own form. ". D.. Dark.." Seiri stuttered out as shaken hands reached to grasp onto him. ".. Oh.. Oh sh*t.." she kept repeating as she felt over him. Her hands touched something wet, and when she pulled it up to look.. Red -- it was his blood. ".. You.. you.." caught up. A lump in her throat, all she could do was let out a hiss of anger as she hunched over him. Fingers curled.. grasping tightly. ".. Come on." No. She wasn't going to lose another one. Not like this.. She saved him before -- she could do it again. "Stay with me.. Just f*cking stay with me.." The Siovanui spoke as she shut those eyes tightly.

'Visualize.. visualize the energy -- push it into him..' Repeating the words she remembered Nima saying.. It made things easier for her to understand.. And so, she did it. She focused on that ball or burning ember that appeared within her mind's eye.. and she visualized herself pushing it. Thump, thump, thump.. A heartbeat. She could hear it. As if it were traffic on the busy streets of Adenna.. she could hear it. Everything else left her focus -- that heartbeat, as of now, was all that mattered. 'Focus, Seirichi, focus..' The warmth of that Siovanui energy began etching its way into Dyarhk's core, his very own being.. Seiri could *see* it.. Spreading from that connection between the two of them made by the Lifestealer's mark. The heartbeat rose, it was no longer drifting away.. and with a gasp, her eyes opened.

".... Dark..?" she spoke out; but finding no response.. but the only response she needed was that he was no longer bleeding out. Feeling against the wetness of his wound, but finding no more of that crimson liquid expelling from it.. and that heartbeat, that living -- powerful heartbeat. It rung in her ears. It told her everything would be okay. "Ha...! Hah... See? What'd I f*cking tell you, dipsh*t..?! You can't die that easily....." crying out happily as she grasped hold of Dyarhk's unconscious form and held it close to her own. "... I f*cking told you.." A sniff back.. her eyes welling up with tears. Sleeve covered arm found her eyes as she gave them a wipe before reaching back down to get a better grasp at him.

"Making a woman carry you.. who do you think you are? .. You better wake up soon, you hear me?" Hoisting his sleeping form up and into her arms as she began to stand. A loud bang filled the air soon later as a quick boot gave Seirichi access to one of the many bedrooms of the royal castle. Quickly, she carried Dyarhk over to the made bed and placed him down directly over those soon not-so-clean sheets. After letting him go, she rose her own arms and made a motion to unzip and discard her jacket off to the side. "... This worked once.. and Nima's never failed me before.. All I need you to do is wake up, Dark.. Can you hear me? Just wake up.. I need to f*cking know if you're okay.." Seirichi said as she leaned over the bed and felt at his face. Teeth began to grit.. it shouldn't TAKE this long.. ".. I need you.. Don't just lay there all quiet.."

"Let me through!" the booming voice of the black knight shoved his way through the chaos of citizens moving large stones of the great castle and capitol of Adenna, looking for survivors of a tragedious attack. Of the center of attention to this crowd, was a noteworthy knight of Adenna seated to the side where he was being treated for a rather serious gash to his forehead. The knight was Sir Anthony, not so recognizable with his sunny blond hair and decorative armaments chalky and grayed by debris.

"This wound is nothing. Make haste, so I can go back to my men." Anthony said, cringing at the final clippings of his stitches by a seasoned medical woman.

"Anthony. What of your company you were escorting??" Havelast easily stepped through a path of men what paved itself, to the other knight.

"There was a devastating attack. I barely made it away with my life. There were only a few men. The castle is --"

"What of the foreigner!! Dyarhk!!" Havelast roared, balling a fist at him. Anyone who had ever seen the black knight's clenched grip was wise to fear it. Sir Anthony was no exception. "..... I do not know." was his response, unsure of his personal safety after having said that, but sighed thankfully when the black knight flung that fist away and left the same direction, going for the castle.
Anthony watched his departure with sharpened eyes, swatting at the hands of the nurse who tried and finish her job on his temple. "GO!"

Havelast found it hard to keep his fists unmade while he walked. He couldn't shake the idea from his head, that amidst all this chaos, he may have lost a very dear friend. He couldn't even shake the idea that, at any second, another attack could come. The face of a warrior trying to meet with such things as worry, sorrow, and the unknown; it was as rare on him as was this city in turmoil, and the people saw it. An old lady tending to an injury on a knight who must've been her son, and the able men carrying bodies near death or already dead to their groups. Havelast's mind was a million places at once as he ascended those broken stairs where he was able, and upon seeing the great hallway partially demolished his eyes widened. There he saw several men helping several more men.

Walking through that hall he was so used to being flawless was a chore now, placing his hand on the wall for stability the closer he came to the fissure where the ceiling had crashed. His free hand unconsciously extended to the hopeless looking men that reached for it, held it briefly, and then let go as he moved on past them. What kind of power could it have been to inflict damage on the already magically influenced stones that built this castle? Now on the other side of that fissure, he walked down the hall, of bedrooms to the one cracked door among so many closed doors. He raced over.

"Seiri!? What in ?!! " taking in the sight of Dyarhk that she held, because no one else would. He rushed in, moving for his bedside all too quickly before realizing she wouldn't let him. It became apparent she wanted responsibility of him. ?....Heavens.? Havelast looked around the man, seeing how his clothing looked as though bricks had shattered against him. Sandy stone mixed with blood down his arm, on his chest, and his forehead. The black knight did not know what to make of this sight, nor the sadness of Seirichi also a blend of anger and focus, something he had never seen before. The black knight took a few steps back to the window.

".." gazing out to the relief, ever coming in, no matter the size of the attack. "Is he okay..?" his hand slowly placed upon the window pane as he nervously looked toward his shoulder to Seiri across the room.

Seirichi placed her hand along his face to check for warmth before combing some of that mess of hair from his forehead more presentable. Dry blood caked it from a head injury, and one eye was very forcibly closed and just as blood lathered. Below that, a few broken ribs and a fractured clavicle. He was a mess.
" ... He's fine, Havelast.. He'll pull out of this -- trust me. " Spoke Seiri as she held onto Dyarhk's hand from her position seated beside him on the bed. ".. he's not the type to give up so easily.." Her tone was serious. As if she knew for a fact that this wouldn't be the end. Fingers curled and grasped more onto that hand as those dull grays closed with a bow of her head.

Havelast didn't need to watch her long to understand she had things under control. ?I'm entrusting his life to you, then.? he said, his hand leaving the desk by the window for him to begin making for the door.

?...? She closed her eyes to Havelast's departure as she sat there in silence, focusing once more after the door had closed. They were alone. An illumination of light; small, only seen if one focused enough on the sight of her body. But it indeed was there.. Fading, and glowing like some sort of pulse. ".... It's only a little more, right?" A small smile as she spoke between herself and the sleeping man before her. Forced smile then turned to the smallest of frowns as she looked to the side. Tick, tick, tick.. that clock continued to move.

Dyarhk

Date: 2011-02-13 06:08 EST
?Where am I?? Dyarhk asked, looking around in a zone of pure whiteness.

?Our conversation is proof that the link has succeeded.? a voice with omnipotence called out to him from the all.

?...? Dyarhk knew the significance of such a presence. It meant something beyond, and with that, he held his hands, and felt his cheeks, and checked for pain and any assurances that he was not dead. ?Who are you??

?My name is Bernard Dearing... I'm a friend, don't worry ? hehehehe.? the voice showed emotion, personality; not deity-like behaviour, but the situation had spoken for itself.

?What do you want from me??

?I apologize for your prolonged sleep, Lad. But you are very much alive, and in the arms of someone that cares about you. You came pretty close to death, though, I must say!? Bernard said, chuckling at the wide-eyed response of the man as he felt hopelessly about this plain. ?Yes, I must apologize for that ? but it was necessary to secret a connection to you. Adenna is on the eve of destruction, and only you can save it.?

?Why should I believe you?? Dyarhk asked, continuing to try and pinpoint the location of his conversationalist.

? ? You are a kind and trusting soul, and it would be opportune for the enemy to try and seduce you into a trap. But you know as well as I that they do not operate this way. All they want to bring about is death, and the annihilation of Adenna. You saw their disregard for anything from bloodshed in the time that led you to here.

?But larger things are at stake here. It is important you listen to me, not just to save this city, but to save the Siovanui woman as well.? Bernard said plainly as Dyarhk's eyes lit up.

?Who?? Techichi!? Seiri?!! What have you seen!??

?... Know this, mortal. What I am about to show you should not be considered the future. Do not think it as such. Consider it preventable. Consider it that which you must stop. And above all else, when you awaken, tell none of this to anyone. My visions are accurate based upon non-intervention. For us to stop what the future holds, we must hoist its responsibility ourselves, you, must hoist, up until that critical moment.?

Dyarhk's eyes grew sorrowful with concern, ?...Bernard, what the hell happens? What the hell is so bad that we had to meet like this??? and just then the whiteness fled from everywhere, and Dyarhk was in city of turmoil and lit by angry torches of hatred held by citizens of a city no longer moral, no longer sane. Dyarhk stood out amongst them quite prolifically, his hair, shoulders and upper-body smoldering a ethereal, dream-like black smoke to distinguish him apart from the dream he was having, within a dream if you will.

He saw a stage that had been built for the disaster to instill hope being used to intensify the morale of evil, to arouse further the angry spirit of the people towards a woman whose name he was shocked to be hearing: Seirichi.

?If she is our protector, our great ordained defender, then why does she betray us?!? Rahea yelled to the roaring crowd.

?Seirichi wishes NOTHING but to help Adenna!! She would DIE for this city!? Dyarhk yelled.

?They cannot hear you, Dyarhk...? Bernard spoke to him, this time inside the confines of his head.

?She stands idly by and watches us perish ? attack after attack!! If she will not defend us, we will defend ourselves!! The Siovanui are a CURSE!!? Rahea shouted.

?NOO!!!? Dyarhk shouted, about to climb that stage before he saw attention from the people shift to someone in the crowd amongst them, someone hooded and coming forth. Removing that hood, and revealing a head of brown hair and angry gray eyes, Seirichi gripped onto her sword and raced forward, leaping onto that stage in an instant and facing her kings on the stage with their 'seer.'

?Seiri!!? Dyarhk reached for her as she passed by and made up onto that stage with an ease he was still struggling with.

?You have soiled my and my mother's name enough. It is time to show yourself...? Seiri let a pause settle between her and the two kings of Adenna on that stage as the masses riled behind them. That sword of hers drawn, and hurled suddenly, not towards either one of them, but towards the mysterious bound woman with the blindfold that had been making proclamations of Adenna since the wrapping of Ko'rudoche. As to be expected, the blind woman was forced to dodge, and still unsuccessful at that due to the strength of Seirichi.

Her blindfold cut in her attempt at avoidance, and when she stood, she did so with her eyes revealed. ?...So, Erika., it was you.? Seirichi said.

?Little good it does for the little whore of Adenna. Shiji Kumo's illusions plague this city, they plague the minds of its people. They do not see the great foe from Winterhill, they see the traitorous dog that was too busy in heat with the lapping tongues of the homeless heroes that dwell in the alleyways of Adenna where the shameful go to hide.? Erika said, taking a hold of Victor's arm.

?..Tch.!? Seirichi enraged at the sight of this, and that somehow, her leaders had been taken control of. ?You've desecrated our walls for the last time, you bitch!? charging after and upon her suddenly. Erika was a crafty villain, but a Siovanui's strength and speed were unmatched. This pacified Dyarhk's worrying, but only slightly as he was still furiously trying to ascend the stage, and what a stage it was, not so easily scaled by normal means which explained the lack of Adenna's personal intervention and rebellion.

?Hold on, Seirichi... I'm coming.!? Dyarhk yelled, but Bernard's was louder.

?Pay attention, Dyarhk!!? came near over his shoulder like a father's haunting and impacting lecture. His arm finally hooked onto that stage floor and lifting himself up, he was the battle much in Seirichi's favor with Erika on the run. ?...?? Dyarhk tried to gauge the most vital details of the fight, 'What is Bernard talking about? What's going to go wrong? What's going to go wrong!!?? his thoughts unstable on an explosive level.

Seirichi was locked in combat, conquering Erika in almost every way, even when she called upon the aid of her corrupt kings to intervene. This calling put everyone on a retreat after a fatal attack of Seirichi's was defended. ?What is the matter, oracle? Does your future no longer look so promising?? The Siovanui asked.

?Grrr...!! Huh?? Erika growled, then quietly mumbled to herself. She saw something, behind Seirichi; Dyarhk saw it too.

?What the ? ?!? Dyarhk remained hanging on that ledge as he saw a reflective image of Seirichi skew and warp in-front of her form. 'What was that??' he thought, but then he saw it again. Too peculiar to be a fluke, and this time he made sure not to lose sight of an invisible target so long as it was moving. He traced the thin, human-size of it up to a widening figure, and the higher his eyes were brought, the more of it he saw until he ended up at two beady red eyes focusing down on the stage from up between the clashing islands over Adenna.

?What is this devilry?? Dyarhk whispered nervously.

?....? Bernard was silent, letting things play out for now, and it soon made sense when suddenly Seirichi had grunted to an impalement and looked down at her chest seeing an icy sting protruding several feet from her exit wound.

Dyarhk bit down on his teeth as hard as he could as he fought to climb, screaming to the height of his lungs when she filled with an orange lava-like light of Siovanui energy to take over her mortal being and endure this attack with her title. ?NO!? Dyarhk yelled, being blasted back and ultimately off his fragile perch of that stage, traveling the long way down to the ground where he hit and the dream ended.

?Haa... ha.. haa...? he panted, a handful of his dark hair while he tried and block out what he just saw.

?I know this was trying for you to behold... but make it an advantage. The great tree of my realm tells me visions of the future, and they will come to pass without an intervenor. Now you have seen it as well.? Bernard said, in physical form finally. A tiny fae man favoring a Santa Claus build and yet small enough to fit into the palm of your hand. There was much to absorb, truly, and the man whom he addressed was doing just that.

?No... I won't let that happen so long as I live.?

?Don't be so certain you still have that to gamble with. Remember, it is because your near brush with death we were able to establish this connection.? Bernard said as Dyarhk came to his knees before him to better confront him.

?Just who are you, little man??

?...As I said, a friend. I am an old acquaintance of Daichi, the past king of Adenna, and a powerful earth spirit. It was why I had to wait until an energy source large enough struck so that I might secret a connection to someone in Adenna and bring this news. My eyes are always watching over that city, but it is my curse I am unable to physically travel there.? Bernard said, crossing his arms.

?So ? this is all on me.? Dyarhk said.

?Your spirit is infused with the Siovanui... I can tell your connection with her is a powerful one... literally! Bwa ha! ? But it is one of the several important factors as to why I am able to connect to you. I will be there with you, but only as a guide. And when the time comes... you have to prevent her death.?

?Tch.!? Dyarhk made fists at his thighs, trembling with the fear of what was at stake. ?How do we do this??

Bernard smiled, ?That, is what we're here for. I have a plan...? Bernard began, patting him comfortingly on the knee.

Dyarhk

Nightfall. Back in Adenna, the castle was refortified and camps setup more outside of the ever-expanding demolition. A city so beautiful that it was a travesty to bury it away under so much earth, but despite it all, it still withheld an eerie beauty. The lanterns Adenna was known for had been lit, and much more plentifully because of the encampments. Many of the castle bedrooms were occupied with wounded that would not have otherwise graced the priceless bed linens. Dyarhk was among them, and beside him the one woman who hadn't left his side through the whole ordeal. His eyes delicately clenched before openly slowly, and taking in the blurry wood color of the bedroom, and the familiarity of the woman that dabbed his face with a wet rag. Still out of it, he regained consciousness suddenly, grabbing her wrist with the only hand he could make use of that wasn't slung, and confusedly looking at her. His grip loosened, and then, softened. "..Seiri." he whispered, looking at her, sounding surprised she was okay. Her, of all people, and him, with his arm in a sling.

"Who else would it be..? You cheating on me already? " Even as she joked the woman seemed a bit stressed.. it could be heard in her voice, seen on her face. But Seirichi had been trying her hardest to at least give him a smile to look at as his vision fully returned to him. "How're you doing..?? He'd now find her repositioning his grip to her hand with a soft squeeze given as well in response. The girl looked at least cleaned up since he had last seen her.. No longer in her blood splattered coat. For now she had been wearing a white, long-sleeved wool turtleneck. Along with what could only be described as puffy-looking slacks that were a more lighter blue. ".......... I'm sorry, I should be saying something more caring, huh?" she smiled again, only this time it was real; and he saw the difference.

"Don't worry yourself about it." The man of a thousand smiles picked one out especially for this situation, knowing something that Seiri did not, but was curious of. He just found her adorable, and her not knowing that's what he was smiling about was part of the reason behind it. They were both new to this venture they had both undergone, so it was only right to be lenient. "Just let me see you for a moment..." was the first thing he said when she posed that question. And with that lone hand he held, he held it against his cheek for a moment, expressing thanks for what could have been no less than saving his life; again. "I think... you've proven your caring, many times over."

Feeling the warmth of his cheek against her hand, she couldn't help but curl those fingers and give it the smallest of pinches as she leaned closer. "Well you can thank me by trying not to have a near-death experience in the next couple of weeks? That's all I'm asking for. Already the second time I've brought you back in the last seventy two hours.."

"No kidding. When those two guys came up the steps, I'd never felt closer to death in my life, and I'm fairly certain I've crossed that line at least once. But no matter how hard the rain is, my flame hasn't gone out, because you've been there keeping it strong. I can't die if you're with me." he said, sitting up and finding it easier to do so than he had predicted. He looked over himself, miraculously cleaned up and perfectly cared for. He then looked at her, losing her hand. Then there came a knock on the door.. the same one that happened time and time before. It caused Seirichi to look up and peer over to it. "Dark.. there was a problem on one of the islands.. Rijn and my Mother haven't reported back.." She looked back to him. ".. I've been ordered to go."

"Lilith? What kind of trouble could your mom have gotten into to require help..." he was looking in a problem-solving direction before Seiri looked back to him and told him of her orders, calling his eyes right back like the trained dogs they were. "Go.? Seiri... ..well I'm going with you.!"

"I'm hoping it's nothing more than an illusion.. but with everything going on." A soft sigh left those lips.. and then -- the look of confusion couldn't help but strike her features as she stared at Dyarhk. ".. Going? You have to be kidding. Dark. You almost died back there. You should be resting right now." She rose up from the bed in that instant. Taking a few steps away as she looked to the rest of her gear that had been boxed on a chair. "I'll try and be back by morning.."

"You're not gonna make it out that door without me if I have anything to say about it... and I will!" he grunted, but shoved off that bed and came to a stand. Looking her seriously with a lively face, made that way by her own replenishing power. The marking on his arm shone the outlines of its inscribing, the power of the woman he approached. "I don't wanna hear any of that." he seized her hand, and held it up between them, lined up with their chests while he looked her in the eyes. "What about all that togetherness crap you fed me? Does that not count here? 'Cause I was under the impression we had a deal. We do it together, or not at all." he said, turning his brows angry.

?...?? Seiri looked into those eyes she had waited for so long to open back on that bed. Now that they were open, she realized why she had longed for them. They spoke a truth, and argued an argument she could not win, did not want to win. When he looked like that, he was serious. ?Heh.. I guess you're too stubborn to follow simple orders, aren't you?? she looked back at him seizing a one-shouldered chestpiece with a grin.

?You know me too well.? he smiled back.

A sword sung to a closure as it was sheathed by Dyarhk's side, now partially dressed with armaments of Adennian flag and patterns. Two bracers, one gauntlet, a royal guardsman's breastplate and a standard sword and belt. ?...?

Seirichi watched him fasten that belt on, taking in the sight of him with an appreciation she was beginning to summon more and more often. She even had to snap herself out of it when he turned to look curiously at her. ?What is it.?? he asked, fastening his cloak on.

?... Let's get going.? she smiled to him, grabbing up her bag of belongings that also carried her sword, also a standard of Adenna's. The two walked out into the hall to see a variety of door positions: open doors, cracked doors, closed doors, and the several women carrying tiny flames in and out of them on candlesticks. Some men groaned quietly to their treatments, others quietly took the pain, and then there were those too weak to do anything but rest. Still, it was a time of healing for Adenna. You could feel the warmth. Dyarhk's lone armorless arm was grabbed then, bringing his attention away from simple ponderings and onto her. ?...? he was ready.

On down the hall they walked together, Seirichi clearing them of the new guard that protected the doorway to the hallway out. Giant wooden doors were opened for them, and out they slipped for the home stretch out of the castle. She tugged his arm closer to her. ?Just stay close to me, okay.? I won't let anything happen to you again.? she sounded serious, but it got a smile out of him.

?I'm not going anywhere.? he reassured, pushing that final door open to the outside with his free arm.

The Ice Spider's island, he was dressed warmly for it everywhere but his arms that were naked, but the cloak he had on would help greatly with that. Getting that thing on with the aid of one arm had been the trick, and he seemed to have just gotten it together by the time Seiri had met with him out at the bottom of the steps of the castle. Arm slid into that winter coat and stretched out as she pulled the warm fabric along her limb all before doing the same with her opposite. She let it hang loose for now. It wasn't that cold, but right when they breached the isle; that's when she'd feel the need to zip it up. "You're going to listen to whatever I say, Dark. This is my world.. I'm not having you fall under the spider's illusions, so stay alert." she tugged him by that arm, leading him now.

"Don't worry...I'm alert." he spoke words of comfort, but inside he was more serious than ever. As they walked, following that winter coat in-front of him, he couldn't imagine the thought of losing her. That premonition Bernard had shared with him, he would never let it become a reality. It was this he focused on during their walk through town, the only thing sticking out from his cloaked form being a hanging hand from his sling. "I have no problem doing what you say." he upped his pace, however painfully to keep up with her, and hid it perfectly. And still she also probably knew he was doing everything he could to keep up. "..?"

Seirichi was busy slipping gloves over her hands and flexing her fingers about as she made sure they were nice and snug against her flesh. "..." A look around for life forms and then they'd continue on down the street.. a few people every now and then seen, but most seemed to be busy helping reinforce the city behind them. "Put your hood up.. you don't need to freeze off your face."

He grabbed his hood but held it there, not putting it on as they grew closer and closer to a group of Adenna elites who had been waiting for them. "Huh? Who's that?? coming up beside her just in time for them to stop before the gathering that stood on the thin red line of Adenna, and it no metaphor. A line was clearly drawn. Eizou stood with a team of royal mages lined beside him, and Havelast at the end of the line, holding The God's Edge.

"Ah, you made it. Just in time. I just finished drawing the farthest outreach of Shiji Kumo's illusion. Cross over this line, and I can pretty much guarantee you'll see a lot of things that aren't." he laughed loud, but brief. It was all procedure with this one, running through the processes. "Now you know how to get there Seiri, so you don't need any special equipment or a guide. And since you're one of the only citizens that displays immunity to the spider's charm, that's why you've been selected. Now, are you taking Dark with you?" he asked, making a curious face at the man, unsure of his condition to even be out and about.

"I'll be fine. I know what I'm capable of." Dyarhk spoke for himself, getting another laugh out of Eizou.

"Okay then! Well. Good luck! Go on straight ahead, and climb the side of the canyon that's got all the cold white stuff on it. That's probably your island. Ports are still no good. Had to close my line with Atae. But we'll have 'em back and working again in no time. Again, good luck!" Eizou said patting Seiri on the shoulder as he moved past her. "See you in the magma lord's den, Havelast!" he said, walking back into town. But Havelast did not answer. He merely remained still and stared down Dyarhk who had sluggishly made over to him.

"..."

"...."

"I believe I have something that belongs to you." The enormous axe sat down between them, Havelast showing some of the strength necessary to wield that which not many men could.

"Sure you don't want to come.? If I can go, surely you can." Dyarhk replied, putting his hand on the axe and nothing more. Havelast merely ceased holding it. "I will have to entrust things to you this time, palliator. Don't let anything happen to Seiri. She's a little too headstrong for her own good."

"She'll be fine." Dyarhk said, leaning the axe over so it was not so much between them any longer, allowing space for them to embrace briefly.

"I'm counting on you." Havelast said, handing him Crall's shoulder as well. Dyarhk blinked at the sight of the thing, and accepted it, fastening it to his only unarmored shoulder. "Same here." he replied, heaving the axe up with a painful grunt, fastening it on the back spade of the golden shoulder. He met back up with Seiri, their feet on the edges of that red painted line. "..." looking at her, again seriously, as he put that hood on after all. "Now I'm ready."

"Yeah..?" She'd start. Fingers working at her coat before finally that low zip sounded out as she brought the zipper all the way up to the coats neck. Half of her face now hidden thanks to the collar that wrapped about her lower features. "So am I." That red line.. Seirichi looked to it -- and then past it. All it took was one step and they'd be on their way.. she had nothing to fear past that line.. yet, the one beside her.

?We're doing this together.? That's all she needed to think to herself before she took that one step across it. " Come on, Dark.. We have a lot of walking to do."

There was a taint of fear upon the dark therapy knight, Havelast, as he watched them depart down the road that would become a path and would then become untraversed ground. Land that would cease to be covered in grass, and instead covered in snow. But this was not what worried him. A shrill whistling drew his attention high up where he could see in the far the snowy peaks of the mountains they were destined for. "...."
Havelast finally turned, and began to follow where Eizou had gone, and he did this with hesitance. He'd have gone himself if he could have, and he would have sent anyone in their place, anyone other than those two. You send soldiers to battle, not your family, Havelast believed. But many of the spare lodgings Adenna had offered for the injured were those mentally affected by the traumatizing illusions and the more deadly Silken Dream. Both of which Dyarhk and Seiri were able to bypass for some reason. In this situation, there was no other choice. But that did not mean Havelast had to like it any better. He growled, crossing back into the main plaza.

Outside Adenna, the path was steady for the time. The rich green grass that thrived on the outskirts that made up the soccer field and the popular picnicker's hill was very present if not showing to be slowly running out the farther they went. One could tell it was once an open field. Now, a grassy canyon between two seemingly enclosing walls of earth. The mud demon's isle, and the isle of Shiji Kumo now neighbors. But that was hours of climbing, time Seirichi and Dyarhk did not have. Lilith and Rijn were in trouble, and Seiri knew it better than anyone. She loved her parents very dearly, something Dyarhk saw as she had taken control of the pace.

"....." he looked off to the side, never staking claim to be a masterful comforter in these worrying times, although he would have liked to been, and it didn't stop him from spending their hike trying to thing of something to say. But this would be interrupted when he bumped into her enough to stop him and his train of thought while he was brought back to the present. "..huh?" seeing the end of their journey, a dead end. The expansive underbellies of the islands had spanned out now into a mazey and impossible abundance of directions and tunnel systems no one could navigate by themselves. But to look in another light, it was possible by a two-man team.

".. Huff." The Siovanui stood there for a moment as eyes trailed over each of the tunnels before her. Another soft exhale left plush lips as Seirichi began to crouch down and squat there comfortably as she took a moment to think about how to progress from this. "Can't expect them to be able to map this place so early.. So we'll be sorta' the first." Dull grays peered over to Dyarhk to gauge his reaction before she continued. "I can read Mommy's magical energy, so this'll be easy." Another exhale as Seirichi stood so that they could continue their walk. "This way." Pointing out with uncurled index finger down one of those tunnels.

"Lead the way, commander." :: Dyarhk courteously let her go ahead of him as he took one final look out to the moonlit grass before plunging into darkness with her. A loud thump made by his boots echoed out into the cave-like depths. "Huh..? Light?" Dyarhk held his arm before his eyes, exposed as it was and only protected by that cloak when it covered it, he was able to see the work of Liltu calligraphy on his arm, glowing like a lantern. He made a curious face at seeing this. "What the..? I don't feel anything at all. Just warmth. Are you controlling this, Seiri?"

"..We needed light, right?" A turn of her head and a brief smile offered to Dyarhk as they continued on. The light illuminating from the mark was enough to glow the area about them; was better than bumping around in the dark, correct? That and it saved her from using flares. "You know.." She'd speak after a few moments of silence between the two of them. ".. I hope she's okay. To think she could fall under Shiji Kumos illusion.." Seirichi hoped it was that. After the attack on the royal palace.. she couldn't help but have her mind venture off into different possibilities as to why her mother and Rijn were unresponsive. But, with the feeling of her mother's magical energy -- her life force, Seirichi was positive it had to be an illusion. "I'd like to get this done before Mom catches word about it. Last thing we need is her ripping through the island, right?" Another look given to Dyarhk, as well as another smile. But lips curled into a small ``o`` as something ahead caught her attention. The tunnel seemed to have come to a sudden dead end, but as they continued on only a few steps -- Seirichi would see that a ledge could be reached via a little teamwork. Hands found hips and body gave a small turn to face Dyarhk. "You going to help a lady up?" A gesture given.

"We all do, Seiri..." he responded to her hoping that her mother was alright. Coming up to the wall that led up a ledge out of both their reach. Beside Seiri, he felt his hand up along that wall, moving their light in effect, guiding that naked arm gradually closer to her before he came to the conclusion he'd have to give her a leg-up. He looked around behind them. "This den is enormous... the dragon must have burrowed everywhere but the city. I think it's safe to say your mom's doing her job." he came back to that ledge, hearing Seiri's suggestion and blinking that she had gotten the same idea. "..Sure. Just don't desert me after I get you up there." he played, as he used his left bicep to help illuminate the lowest point of that ledge. But one thing he had miscalculated was Seiri's position in the cave while he did this, so when he turned he bumped again into her, instinctly grabbing a hold of her in both his arms in case she fell or lost her balance. The end result, they were held close in embrace, and two looks of surprise made on both their faintly lit faces.

"I just might if you keep giving me ideas." A wiggle of the eyebrow. But, the small gesture might have been unseen thanks to focus being more on the ledge. She gave it one last look before assuring herself of success. She was completely focused, but the sudden turn of Dyarhk into her caught even the great Siovauni off guard, being bumped back only the short distance into the secure hold he held her in. She found herself grasped by those strong arms -- and in turn, would do the same with her own. A bit of a scuffle was made, but footing was secured and balance was found.

"Jeez.." Seirichi blinked in slight confusion, but with a small exhale -- and this would be right into Dyarhk's face, she'd raise an eyebrow before laughing out. "Right now isn't the best time to be all touchy feely, babycakes."

"...." He looked into those gray eyes with his own lentil green ones. They were lovers, and there was the time that lovers spent looking into one another's eyes. She had given them that moment, and the moment of silence that came along with it. It had been a genuine accident, but such a moment was bound to happen any number of ways along this journey. All it need wait for was the right proximity, the right trigger; and fortunately this came early on.
"You sure are full of yourself, aren't you?" he whispered against her nose in response to that small exhale. His hand loosened from around her waist only to smooth over her face and resolve at her cheek. A woman could tell when a man loved her, and this was precisely one of those times she'd be able to read it. Dyarhk never looked at her more preciously, and it had been because of his dream, and what he saw in his dream. Losing Seiri was an unthinkable thought, and seeing her alive truly exposed his feelings. If ever there was a time to kiss, now was it. ?.. ...Here, come on." he whispered, choosing instead to unwrap her sweetly and clasp his hands together, making a step for her to use as he backed that axe into the wall.

Lips kept closed as a moment of silence surrounded the two of them. The brush against her face was enough to cause her to give a small tilt of the head, pressing more of her cheek against that open palm as eyes kept themselves locked on his own. Yes, this would have been that kind of moment to share a kiss -- but such a thing wouldn't come as they broke away from one another. Seirichi sucked in a soft breath as she gathered herself for a split second. "Um.. yeah." Swallowing back. Hands rose up to awkwardly brush at strands of hair before she leaned forward to place a hand against his shoulder.

Propping herself before using her right foot down onto those cupped hands. With that, she'd be pushed up. Hands rose as well and made quick work at grasping at the edge. Upper-body strength used, and she hoisted herself easily up and over the ledge. Shifting, rolling onto her tummy next while arm reached down to offer a helping hand.

With the utmost care he saw her up and over, keeping his hand following that last leg of hers just in case. He blinked softly, she had made it. One obstacle overcome, and one more closer to the one that would try for her life. That dream of fearsome torches, and the guardian, the very one they now made for. He was a little on edge, but remembered Bernard's warning of total secrecy. He saw her reach down for him, establishing a soft connection while they crossed skin until the perfect grips were made and then tightened. "..Not one fat joke. Got it?" he smirked up at her as he reached up and readied to make the rest of the distance after she got him close enough.

"Nnngh.. so -- HEAVY..!" Oh she couldn't help it as hands took wrist, and Dyarhk's did the same with hers. Lips wouldn't even part to give the slightest grunt as Seirichi helped him along. Soon they'd be side by side once more before the woman rose up, a small bunny hop included, right back onto her feet.

"Let's see.." Turning herself about to peer down through the darkness before them. "It shouldn't be that long.. The feeling's still a good few hours or so away, but we're going the right way." A look back to Dyarhk before a thumb gave gesture down the burrowed hall. "Let's get going. No time to rest, tubby."

"You couldn't resist, could you?" he asked up at her, still seated on the floor of this new level. Scratching his nose with the back of his wrist, he took in the new sights before pushing up and coming to a stand as well. "I don't think either of your parents know you're actually here, do they.? This ought to be a nice surprise." he grinned at the idea, passing her now to take the slow lead down the only pathway for the time being. It was a long tunnel, and sadly, it went down, not the ideal direction they would have liked to be heading in. Dyarhk tensed his muscles and uncovered his arm to better light the way. "Stay close, now."

"Stay close? You're acting like I can't handle myself.. Let's try and remember who saved who about.. Let's see.. Three times already? Or do I need to start counting past years?" Seirichi laughed as she walked on in full confidence. Shoulders rose and fell as she decided to answer the other question. "Who knows. Mom'll probably find out once she gets back into the city.. As for Mommy, well.. We're going to be surprising her, I guess." a soft blink of dull eyes as they came to where it seemed that they would be unable to go any further. Good thing they had the light, or else she might of gone face first into the wall. "... Well, shit.. this isn't right."

"I never said that..." even though it had been a joke, he addressed it while surveying around with that light on his left arm. "I just worry about you is all. People do that ...when it's someone they -- " Dyarhk wasn't about to arrive at another dead end on-top of the one they were already in. Seiri surely would have her fun, or seriousness, either of which were more prodding of emotions he felt were particularly sensitive right now. He looked about until he heard her again. "... Well, shit.. this isn't right."

"..." It was a perfect ending to a cave, nice and circular, just the place to be expecting a monstrous bear or dragon to be slumbering. Rearing his head back to examine the roof, he saw high above them, an opening letting in additional moonlight. With several elbows nudging the woman beside him, Dyarhk gestured above their heads. "Here, Seiri, give me your back." he said, tearing his gaze off of that cave opening above them to dig through her belongings in her pack, grabbing her short sword to hold it aside with some other items until he came out with a rope fixed with a grappling hook.

"Hey, hey...! I'm trying to thin--." A blink as eyes followed that gesture.. and with a soft exhale, she'd shrug her shoulders once more. "See? I knew we weren't lost." Happy with herself, and also thankful for Dyarhk's eyes.. it would of possibly took her a good minute of searching before finally coming across it. Body turned and back was given to him as she went from peering over her shoulder, then up above at the tunnel's ceiling once more. "Ehh.. You might have to take a few steps back." Oh yes. She wasn't expecting him to use the grappling hook. She even took it from his hand as it came out and into the open.
She sized up the ceiling just then.. her tongue peeking out from between her lips as she readied herself. Spin, spin, spin began beside her as that metal end gradually began to sing louder whisping through the air. Fingers working the rope as wrist continued to rotate so that she could speed it up.. and then, with a release, she'd allow it to fly through the air. The grappling hook disappearing through the opening.. and then, once slack was made, she knew it landed. Soft tugs given at first, a bit more slack.. and then she gave a tug. The robe only went a few more inches before it seized up. Yes, it had caught onto something. Perfect.

Rope was dropped and hands found one another.. Craaaack. Knuckles popped as she prepped herself for the rope climb ahead. "This is turning out to be like some fitness test.. Now we have the rope climb, huh?" Offering Dyarhk a grin before she took hold of the rope and began to climb.

He watched her do this with ever-amazed eyes at her display of power. And once she was done, he approached her and gazed up the rope she was beginning to climb. "Don't fall now. I'd hate to have to catch you." He knew she'd be fine, but it paid sometimes to let someone know you were there verbally even if they already knew. A last look paid around to this unique burrow paved by the bridge dragon before returning to watch Seiri conclude her climb. "..Those are very nice pants." called up.

"Shouldn't you be saying `Nice ass`?" Calling back down as she continued her climb. "Because, you know.. I have a nice one." Up she'd go.. and then, she'd disappear once more. Seirichi would be met with a small gust of wind and the sight of snow just outside of the small cave they had climbed into. She even forgot about Dyarhk for a split second. Just -- looking out at the whiteness that looked to span for eternity outside.. But, she'd shake her head and peer back down through the large hole. Down at the man with the glowing mark. "C'mon, Dark. Don't let that big ol' axe slow you down."

"You've got enough ego for the both of us, Seiri." he saw her to the top with a sigh now, alone and as the lone glimmer of light amidst so much darkness. She'd disappeared, and beginning to worry him the longer she stayed gone. What could she be seeing? What was up there? "Seiri? Seiri??" he called up. And there popped her head out from the cave.

"C'mon, Dark. Don't let that big ol' axe slow you down."

"...." He smirked before grabbing a hold of that rope and pulling himself up with his arms. Right away he could tell this was going to be a chore. That pain in his arm that had been lying dormant showed itself suddenly, and that sling he had slipped out of now made a whole lot of sense. He gritted his teeth. "This might... grr.! -- take a while."

She ducked out once more, looking back to the snow. Gauging how much difficulty it may take to continue their hike. It shouldn't be too bad.. not for a few hours, at least. The vision of Seirichi came back once more for the climbing Dyarhk -- but upon seeing him not only going slow.. but not even AT the point she hoped he'd be at? The siovauni let out a sigh and took hold of the rope as well. "Stop climbing and just hold on." would be her only warning before she began to easily pull him up.

"I got this.! If you think I need more of your help, you must think I'm pretty damn useless. I -- hey.!" he had no choice but to do as she said or else falling would be the only option. He held on as he looked up and saw the ease at which she was hoisting him. Before he knew it he had gone up quicker than either she had or he would have normally. Coming up to the new surface, he planted his hands in cold snow and looked beside Seiri, regaining his breath as he grabbed onto his arm. "...Thanks."

His attention being taken from him by the inspiring mountainscape that expanded out from that tiny cave opening. He stood up and went to check it out for a few seconds of awe before the cold wind got him covering his arms up in that cloak. Night still well with them, but the snow was easily lit, and the moonlight shone a great deal. "...We made it.?

"Not just yet.. we still have a lot of walking to do." Hands placed against hips as she looked out into the whiteness once more. Dyarhk would find a quick pop against his armored stomach from the back of Seirichi's hand just then. "You need a break, old man? Or are you ready to go?" Pulling her hand away to help wrap that rope back up -- all before passing that to him once more and exposing her backpack to him once more. Hey, he took it out; he might as well be the one putting it away. "I'm thinking we keep going for maybe an hour or two.. and then setup camp."

"Sure thing, kiddo." he neatly placed the rope back in, and then Seiri would hear the cute zipping of the pack and a conclusive pat on it and her shoulder as his boots then sloshed several steps in the snow out into the night. "We'll go on as for as long as you can. You've got Siovanui strength, remember? Techichi once said it was like a fire always burning through every part of you. We have no reason to break as much as a normal expedition." he grinned back to her at the idea of such an advantage. It was an empowering thought, one he began the hike through the snow with.

"Yeaaah.. but, you see.. Mom and I usually don't have a slowpoke like you worrying us." A poke given to Dyarhk's chest just then. No, two pokes to get her point across. "Ah.. I'm just bustin' balls, don't worry about it. Keeping us nice and safe is job number one." Hoisting her backpack up once more, getting more comfortable before reaching to grasp for her hood and placing it right up and over her head.

"Let's find your mom, Seiri." journey motivation. He smiled over to her as they began on their incredibly challenging trek through the deep snow.

Dyarhk

He found himself pulling his own hood up after while, and doing well to keep up with Seiri for the first hour before it became forced exertion. Siovanui power was in his body, but it didn't flow through his every vein like it did Seirichi. The difference showed now, when she was able to take a lead with that continuous pace she'd shown the entire time, and he'd slowed down.

"Hahh... Hahh..." he panted, holding his cloak together with a frozen fist as his eyes focused on the figure leading him. He looked beyond her and could see nothing. A snowstorm was picking up, and the chilling winds were knocking out the hearing in one of his ears. But she continued to take steps, and so would he. Eventually he saw her stop, and allot him the time to come up beside her, exhaling a cloud of warmth as he gazed out to the sight she did. "..?"

?We're nearly there.. just a little longer.? Seiri said firstly to the distance, and secondly to him as she took in his current state. She placed her hand over his holding that cloak together, it was freezing; she checked next his cheek, inserting her hand into that hood and feeling his face. ?.....? his green eyes looked fiery back at her, but that was the only fire he had on him. She bit her bottom lip. She knew he wanted to go on, but she wasn't going to risk another hair on his head after that incident that happened back in Adenna, not when she was getting so used to ?taking care of him.?

?We'll rest here.? Seiri said, plainly.

?You just said we're ? ? Dyarhk looked over yonder to where she had said they were ?nearly there.? It all looked the same to him: snow, and more snow. He didn't have the energy-sensing ability Seiri had to read the distance they were going, save for to feel where she was. But it turned out, he had little to say on the matter.

? ? I said we're stopping. I don't know what kind of condition my mommy's in, but I do know your condition, and we're stopping.? she interrupted him dominantly and topped it off with a stern look back to him.

?.....?

? ? Now stay right there.? she said, walking over a few feet as she summoned a transport post out from the snow and resonated with it her intended connection, summoning then a very basic turtle house. They both looked on at it, Dyarhk with only the stories he'd heard about these, never having seen one; Seiri looked on it also with the stories, but in a much different light. A turtle house had been where her parents had grown close together under Winterhill, a union that they were told those stories about. And on this very island, this very model house had been where Techichi and her partner had grown close on a wintery night, just like this one. A history, and legend came with these rest beds; one Seiri had always wondered how it might relate to her. ?What's rendered you so speechless? Something wrong?? Dyarhk asked, coming up to see under her hood.

?...Huh? No, no I...? damn him, his loss for words was rubbing off on her. Yes, that had to be what it was.

The sound of a sword unsheathing as that axe came off his shoulderplate and he flipped its face down into the snow, holding onto its long grip for balance while he crouched to inspect the space inside that giant turtle shell-shaped house. ?.....? he poked his head in, and didn't look around long before looking back out to Seiri for a pause and confused look. ?..Seiri, there's nothing but a bed in here.?

?What, do you think I'm stupid, Dyarhk?! I know that.? she blushed, storming over to him and giving him a push out of the entryway so she could inspect it herself. ?..... It's a lot more reliable than it looks. It's an Adenna tradition.!? she defended, crawling in and removing her hood about halfway across the pillowy mattress. ?These walls are resistant to the weather outside, and it's good at retaining heat.? she shrugged her shoulders and exhaled, hands on her knees as she slowly sat on her heels. ?You see.? It's not just a bed.? she looked back to him.

?Alright, forget I said anything.? he ceased to crouch and got on his knees, crawling into the tiny entrance where you would imagine a turtle's head using. In he crawled, wowing at the additional space he had failed to notice on the outside, dragging that axe in behind him and placing it against the side of their oval-shaped enclosure along with Seirichi's bag. ?Sheesh, you women pride yourselves in taking things too personally, don't you? Maybe I underestimated just how similar you and your gender were.? he said to the sudden blackness of the turtle house.

The only source of light now was the faint glow from his arm. Dyarhk was off-guard, turning to find Seiri and see what had just happened. ?Seiri..?? said to her knee-walking approach.

?We're not going to stay long...okay? Just long enough to warm you up and rest a little.? she whispered as nervous as her look over to him was. ?Let's get you out of that chestpiece.? she said, hands on his side, one of which undid the armor's belt at his waist.

?.....Sure, whatever you say.? he said softly, honestly, looking into her twinkling eyes more glossy than he ever remembered seeing them thanks to the low lighting. And what a statement of vividness given her gray eye color. That chestpiece removed, and was discarded along with Crall's Shoulder and his cloak with a toss to their other belongings soon accompanied by that sword and swordbelt of his she took the liberty of removing, then taking a knee closer to him. ?..?

?What about your armor?? he said, putting his hands on her hips that were quickly locked in place by Seiri's own. She made a look to him with pursed lips, tisking at his rush. ?I'm not wearing any, remember?? She said, removing his hands from her body so she could unzip that fluffy jacket and prove it to him exposing that adorable white turtleneck sweater. "So why don't you just lay back and relax, alright?" Peeling gloves away from her hands and discarding them to the side before grasping at that fluffy jacket once more. Folding, carefully, maybe a little too carefully before placing it down onto the bed and motioning to it.
"There, a pillow. Now you can't say I never take care of you." A sassy sort of grin appearing on her lips. Seirichi took hold of Dyarhk's shoulders just then, another knee into him. Pushing at and helping guide him down to rest against the bed, as well as that makeshift pillow, before crawling closer to rest down against him. A soft sigh left her lips. A job to do. ?Now let's warm you up.? Seirichi said in an audible whisper.

It came as no surprise to the Adenna warrior when she felt Dyarhk's arm come to wrap about her.. Seirichi closed her eyes, slowly, in response, feeling a sort of secured safeness in it all. The woman reacted to the arm with a nuzzle, pushing her face more against his chest. Heat, she gained a small bit more by being so close to him -- but the Siovauni would be the one to provide the rest. That limitless energy that surged through her core.. It soon begin to radiate from her, the feeling of comfort, of warmth.

?....? Dyarhk pressed his lips against her crown and kept them there, rubbing her side with a presence. He was there, that's what he was telling her, that's what he was telling himself. Her own grip over him tightened then, and slowly the walls of that turtle house brightened from that light on his arm. He was no longer freezing, he was no longer cold. But it wasn't just within his body he felt this, coming from the Lifestealer's Seal. He carefully sought out Seiri's hand stretched across him and found that sleeve, sliding it back to expose her forearm and see the energy she was outputting. A faint, warm glow of red.

He sighed, resolving his hand in hers. ?We'll make sure your mom's okay, soon as this storm blows over... Seiri?? he played with her limp hand, checking to see if she was awake. He thought about telling her what he shouldn't, he thought real hard about it. ?There something I wanna tell you... something, I'm afraid of.? he opened his palm on her side as she stirred, nestling deeper onto him. His hand rest back down. ?...I hope Kara likes me. I really want him to, because, I'd like to be the boy's father. That'd complete the picture, you know? Man, a woman, and a child... they call that a family. Seiri.? ...Seiri???

He rest her hand back around his waist to free his own to brush some hair back and examine her face. She was asleep.

CHAINS will continue February 20th--!!

Havelast's Christmas

?Heave, Men!!?

He wore armor much thicker, rarer, and larger than any of the other knights that surrounded this effort in the Adenna Plaza. Havelast Dagger Sasc, the dark therapy knight, grit his teeth helmetless but otherwise fully armored. ?Almost there!!?

The enormous brace was finally put into place, and it grumbled to its core with the weight of one of the islands diverting its mass to it. The men sighed collectively.

?You've done a good job. Return to your families for now. We all need rest.? he said, pointing out from his impressive cloak the black crow shine of his armored arm. The men did as instructed, some passing by the man DeCausey, a known tailor in Adenna, doing his part in this tragedy handing out large blankets to those who now had none in these harsh winter months. Havelast watched them do this before seizing his black helmet and carrying it under his arm across the center of the plaza.

?Havelast...? Sir Anthony said, coming to meet him in that decorative garb of his, bright with color and once again clean and flawless as if it had never been chalked and dusted by the debris of the collapsing castle roof. ?...Anthony.? Havelast nodded, never faltering in his travel.

?Techichi continues to battle the dragon of the bridge, no doubt saving our city of further devastation. But what if we are come under attack in her absence?? the blond knight spoke with worry.

?Place more faith in your Captain. I know the opponents of which we face. I know their tactics. They will not challenge us with both Eizou and myself still here.?

Anthony listened to this, walking with him and unsure of that which the dark therapy knight had nothing but the utmost confidence. ?...What is there for me to do??

Havelast looked at him briefly before going back to his direction of destination. ?We have set the foundation for a long road of work ahead of us. We do not know how long the chains will be with us, nor do we know the damage that will come with their removal. We can only assume Adenna shall be like this for some time. Tomorrow, we will continue to make breathing room within these earthen walls. Just because we are encased does not mean we have to be prisoners.? he took on a serious gaze and departed from the direction and speed at which Anthony was traveling.

?Is this really a time to dismiss the work teams??? Anthony stopped, sensing accurately Havelast was done talking with him. But this he had to know.

Havelast never stopped walking away, but he did look back to him over his shoulder. ?Don't you know? ...It's Christmas.? he said, leaving the blond knight to his own thoughts by the inoperable central fountain of the plaza.

Everywhere the dark therapy knight looked he saw efforts being made for family, for togetherness. If something would please him, he would let it be their spirit; a spirit whose example he tried to follow. It was his home he clanked his heavy metal boots toward, and down one of the cleaner streets of Adenna, he was nearly upon it.

He never dropped his guard. His eyes intently on the shadowy nooks and hiding places surrounding him as he passed by. To have to do this in his own city, it angered him. To have to repeatedly say battle plans over and over in his mind: the location of Atae, Crane, Suresa, Eizou, and the others; their roles in this tragedy. It was not a happy time.

?..!!?

Havelast froze suddenly at the sight on down his street. In-front of his home, it was Rahea and Victor, the joint rulers of Adenna. 'What are they doing here?' he thought, picking up his pace to go over and meet them.

Rahea did not long pick up the sight of the large warrior given the rank of Captain of the city's knights. ?Ahhh, Havelast. Your unarmored face comforts me. Do you move onto another task of importance?? he queried pleasantly.

?I do, Your Highness. All that can be done today has been. I intend to see my wife on Christmas.? he replied.

Rahea hummed, nodding repeatedly at hearing that. It seemed he understood, but disapproved by that tone. ?... It is understandable how a Captain as busy as yourself might wish such a thing. But need I remind you we are at war, and the collapsing of any of these island bottoms would surely seal our fate.?

Old Victor faced him now, no longer burning a fiery stare through the side window of Havelast's home, no doubt where a curious Nayon had been watching from the cover of the drapery. ?.....?

?I suggest Your Highness scout, or send a scout along the perimeter of our city limits. You will find sufficient bracing all along our confines. There is much more to be done, but we will only halt the work by overworking already worked men.? Havelast gathered the two sides of his cloak together in his fist and sealed himself up inside of it for additional warmth. He had intended to be inside by now, but certain men in Adenna were unrefusable.

?The process is halted regardless, Captain. Adenna has never ceased to protect us from outside forces. There will be time to recuperate when the city is once again safe. Until then, I must insist you and the others push on.? Rahea said, earning a never before taken look from Havelast.

?Is there something the matter, Captain?? Victor asked a baited question, burning a fiery stare now upon Havelast.

?....As you wish. I'll return to one of my other posts, but first I need to deliver instructions to my wife.? Havelast said, keeping that fist at his chest, concealing him within that gargantuan cape. He meant to walk past them now.

?Very well. But be brief. I am sure you already know this. You are not our shining defender without cause. Come, Victor.? Rahea said, beginning the two's walk on down the street.

?..... ..? Havelast looked back at them with a most suspicious look before making into his yard and to his front door, immediately greeted by the long black-haired woman who was seldom without a serious demeanor these days.

?What did they say.? You can stay a while, can't you?? the woman asked, crossing her arms.

?Diane...? he was rarely without words, but Adenna's state of affairs and the method of its rule had left him in such a way. ?I'm going back to the hot rocks to help Eizou. The Kings need all the hands they can get.?

?Havelast... come inside.? Diane said, grabbing onto that frightening black steel where somewhere his wrist lie underneath and pull him in. Once inside, she closed the door behind him and stopped to hold her hair back and take a deep breath. ?..?

?There is something peculiar going on, Diane. Adenna is danger. I will have council with Eizou and Atae when I meet with them, and see if they have noticed anything strange about Rahea and Victor. They are not acting themselves...? Havelast began, looking to the side, having noticed Nayon standing in the doorway leading to the small library they had and where the window was he noticed her watching him from.

?Nayon, get back in the room.? Diane waved, turning back to Havelast with a worried expression on her face. ?...Our Kings, whatever do you mean??

?I do not know... But something is amiss. We are at the mercy of whatever foe is wreaking havoc upon Adenna. And I fear the worst is yet to come. I will get to the bottom of this.? Havelast assured, seizing Diane's arm and drawing nearer to plant a kiss on her cheek before moving past her and then approaching Nayon. The young silent woman watched him near her and place his comforting hand on her shoulder and inspect her, looking for things only his eyes could catch: fear, worry, uncertainty, sadness. Even more remarkable, he could locate these things upon her, who masked her emotions so well it was as if she had none. She understood his ability to do this. She had lived with him much of her life. She knew he understood her.

?Nayon... listen to me. You and Diane stay inside. If anything should happen, please protect her. I know how strong you are.? he looked back to his wife, and then put his second hand on her other shoulder and led her back a few steps into that library room. ?You mustn't hate her. She can't help who she is. Understand, she's been through a hell worse than we can imagine to get her physical body back. It's something neither of us will ever be able to understand...? he looked sadly into her emotionless eyes, when in-fact he was mirroring what he read in them. ?Nayon? What's wrong??

?..........It's Christmas. You said we'd spend it together.?

?Time of season does not matter, little Nayon..." Havelast teased, hearkening back to her childhood. There was so much that was common for girls her age that she knew nothing of. Even today, Havelast was finding things she did not have any knowledge of surprising. He smiled softly to her, and even softer brushing her hair with his hand. The armored knuckles of his fingers were made with moving parts, and as such, he was especially careful not to entrap her hair in making this endearing contact. " -- War takes priority over anything." he conclusively ended on her cheek. He had said his wordless farewell to her through that contact. He made for the door now, stopping entirely on command when Diane seized his hand.

"..Wait.!" she hollered, and he looked back, shocked to see her so out of character lunge into an embrace with him.

"....." he wrapped his arms around her.

"...Come back to me. I can't lose you -- ...not after, you found me." Diane said, tear-filled eyes. Havelast had never heard such emotion flow forth from her. It was unusual. But he did not question it. He had, if just that one time, gotten the woman he loved back before her cloud-like transformation. A reminder of the Adennian woman she once was. "...Diane. I will return to you. A fight with me is a battle no one wants to have. The victor will be the person who has the most to return to. I am that man..." Havelast clamped both of her arms in those polished black fingers of armor and pushed his mouth onto hers, looking into her eyes afterward to see if she now understood. She looked up at him, the man she loved, and the man so much more understanding of things than her.

"....."

?.." Havelast turned then, going out the door, his cape flowing behind him as he joined in with the ranks of several other knights already on their walk. He was off to war. Diane slowly closed the door behind him, both her hands pressed on that wood as she tried and regain her composure. Her green eyes blinked with their long lashes several times in thought before focusing on the younger woman who had stepped just twice from the doorway of the library to put her within view of the door, within view of Havelast's departure; the latter of which the reason for those steps being taken.

"..." Diane saw this, before taking several breaths to catch it, gathering the composure suddenly to march quickly, impressively over in those heels to deliver a swift and noisily open-handed smack across the face of Nayon. "You forget your place."

"....." A wordless goodbye that Nayon returned. Hand slowly rose, touching onto the cheek that Havelast's gauntlet covered only moments before. Eyes fell downcast and kept themselves to the ground as the young woman stood silently in place. Havelast, was leaving.. War -- recovery efforts.. Nayon wished to take part, but her priority at the moment was Diane; Havelast's beloved.. and the same woman who soon grabbed her attention with click by click of high heels as she advanced toward her. Face lifted and dull eyes took in the vision of her beauty, but the fury behind it came swift with the sound of an echoing slap across her face. Strands of black swayed in reaction and head turned to the side. Nayon felt the sting rising up from her cheek; which was now growing a small bit of red from reaction. But her face kept strong, lacking the emotion of discomfort or pain. "... I did not forget.. it was only a question, Miss Diane. I apologize.."

Diane stood over her submissive form showing the superiority she clearly commanded. She did not look pleased, more with every second Nayon agreed with her, made her reasoning all the harder, and her infliction of pain all the greater. "No you forget quite a lot.!!" she growled, turning into a holler as she grabbed onto the girl's mouth hard, intent on hurting her, and guide her gaze towards her own for a second smack, but Nayon had resisted her steering. The two girls fought with a series of grunts and squeals and plenty of those high heels clacking in the scramble, but eventually, Nayon had her hair pulled long enough, and welcomed the following hit, which was this time a fully-charged but manic and not such an effective punch. Still, it had been enough to send Nayon back onto that plush sofa and its cushions while Diane panted heavily, fixing her long hair that had gotten int he way of her seeing.

"...This is how you treat me.? After we take you into our home and give you a place to stay..?" Diane waited for a response, feeling herself enough of an innocent to think up more words to say. "You are no better than the family Havelast rescued you from." she smoothed her dress free of the crinkles made in their little scuffle as she walked back over to Nayon, quite literally looking down on her before bending over and grabbing onto her mouth once again, closing the distance between almost completely, staring comfortably in control into her eyes. "..,.You are nothing -- you are less than nothing. It is why you are quiet, and it is why you are empty." she never took her eyes off the girl's own, for if she broke down, she wanted to be right there to make smaller the pieces of her resolve.
Grunts of pain and struggle left the girls lips, but nothing more would slip past them. Even when she hit that couch and soon found her mouth taken once more within that rough, dominant grasp. Nayon simply sat there while eyes gave a small narrow. Yes, she showed some kind of emotion -- and it was anger. She could feel it welling up within her stomach.. the way her fingers began to curl and dig onto the couch she was sitting upon. You are nothing. words she never thought she'd hear inside of this household.. The Dagger Sasc estate -- it was a place she saw as a safe haven.. but now, it was only bringing her pain; the woman before her being the cause. "Havelast.." she'd start. Eyes glaring into Diane's own. ".. Havelast took me in.. Not you.. You've done nothing..."

Diane's eyes flared as if a knife had just pushed through her. Surely, those words were just as penetrative, and just as unexpected. "What did you say?" she had to be sure she got it right, because that could not have just happened. This child, who she saw so far beneath herself, could not have possibly said that. ?What did you just say to me???" she hollered out, bringing a powerful backhand to the girl's same cheek she had impacted just before. She watched the girl slowly recover after a still pose from that smack, and gathered a handful of Nayon's shiny black locks tight in her clutches. "I want you out of this house. I don't care where you go, I don't care what you do. But it will not be here.!!!" Diane drug her across that floor until she regained her stand, and then was walked by her hair to that door Diane opened and swung her out of by her head. "You want to spend Christmas with your family so bad..!! Spend it with the Lortz!!" Diane slammed the door closed on her.

Nayon's flinched right as that door slammed behind her. There she stood -- one hand pressed against the redness of her assaulted cheek while the other pressed onto the ground. All she needed to do was push, to get back onto her feet.. but she couldn't help but just prop herself up in a sitting position and look at the door. Frustration and sadness was all she felt. The black-haired girl tried her hardest to suppress those emotions, biting down onto her bottom lip and digging her chin into her neck.. but, soon enough those tears would come.
Sniffing back every now and then.. trying her hardest just to stop -- to control herself. Another long sniff was given as she gathered herself and stood. Eyes, red and puffy, would attempt to regain their focus as she looked out past the yard and into the street. Havelast hadn't left too long ago.. he couldn't be far. "...." the slightest nod made to herself. She had decided, she'll find him, help him. Miss Diane would calm down.. Once Havelast returns, she'll be happy once more.. her and Nayon both. Black boots quickly raced across the ground just then as she moved through the gate and quickly followed the trail to find the Dark Therapy Knight.

The girl pushed through sad walking men, surprised to see someone going their direction with such excitement. They were less than alive, and just above death with their zombified march towards the main plaza where they all would head to join the ranks fighting the Magma Lord. Nayon had never done this before, never displayed emotion, much less cry so uncontrollably. After she had come to Adenna, she had nothing, and was only given the things which Havelast gave her. The only thing she felt she truly owned, had been a place to live, and now that was gone.

?Havelast!? she cried.

Ahead of her in the crowd, ahead of several men's shoulders, Havelast walked just as plainly prohibiting the Sword of the Law from swaying too freely. But when he heard the voice of Nayon, he turned and never looked so surprised. ?Nayon..?? taking a knee, and opening his arms in just time to catch the girl overflowing with emotion.

?..Nayon.! Nayon, what's wrong?!? he asked, holding her so long as that steel grip of hers refused to loosen him.

?.....I don't want you to go.?...I'm only safe when I'm with you.? she hushed out her final words. Never before had she sounded so worked up. Nayon's eyes glistened up at him, and she refused to release the shoulders of his flowing cape from her clutches.

?Diane... you can stay with Diane.? Havelast said, grabbing a hold of her arms as she fought with him one of the very few times she ever had in his life.

?No.! No..... ? With you.....I have to go with you.? she protested. She couldn't tell him that it was Diane that struck her, that beat her fragile state of mind to a pulp. Havelast loved Diane, and who was she to try and change that. Of course, this made the situation very confusing for the Dark Therapy Knight.

?..... Nayon.? Havelast begun, and in a tone very expecting of someone about to tell you why you cannot have your way.

?I'm coming with you!? Nayon interrupted, another rare occurrence. Havelast just exhaled, breath spent thinking instead of speaking the words it was taken for.

?Oh thank you, thank you my Lady of Liltu.? a young knight did bow several superfluous times before the white-robed woman before her, ever recalling his hand to his person having accepted her offering of a stringed charm.

?You are welcome, brave knight!? Nima giggled. ?Put it to good use, and protect this city.? she said, winking seductively to the man, as was expected of her reputation. She was one of Adenna's hottest icons, and was well-known for her beauty. It would have been out of character for her to tarnish the man's image of her, and this she realized. ?Byeeee.!!? waving to the blushed warrior who moved to join the ranks. Now he would tell two men who would tell two other men and onwards just how dreamy she was. She smiled. ?... ? ..Oh.?? taking sight of Nayon in the middle of the street, and better still, taking sight of her tears.

?...Nayon. You are a capable fighter, I would not deny that. But there is no time. You must return home.? he stood now, looking down upon her lovingly but with authority.

?Havelast.............? it took a great deal of strength for Nayon to oppose this man, whose opinion she held higher than any other's, and whose word had always been law until now. Nima had walked sneakily up to eavesdrop on this exchange, and just when things were about to turn Nayon down a road she was incapable of, Nima jumped in.

?Nayon... ? ? Havelast began.

?Ohh.! ? Nayon, is that you.?? I've been looking all over for you, why didn't you tell me this is where you'd be.?? Nima said, coming onto the scene now and grabbing the girl's arm as she leaned cutely into her and to face Havelast now, who was blinking at her. ?I am so glad you found her for me.! We were just......? she looked at Nayon, silent, and completely submitted to whatever Nima might spout. ?...going to check on my mother at the teahouse. She's been kind of sad lately, so Nayon and I thought we might cheer her up with a little Christmas spirit.!? Nima energetically fist pumped.

?...? Havelast didn't know what to make of this. Clearly Nima was up to something, but what it could have been was no such a threat as the one he had been ordered to go and face. ?..Fine. But you both be careful. We are more open to attack than ever before. We do not have the eyes looking around our corners for us we normally have. This time they are upon us.? he assessed Nayon once more, silent and with cheeks shining with tears.

?........?

?...I have to go. But when I get back, we will talk this over.? he said, repositioning his hand on the grip of that golden hilt and half-turning back to the direction the men were all headed.

?...Yes Sir.?

?..Hm,? Havelast forced a grin, before completing the turn and continuing on his march toward the more established of dug tunnel systems. Scaffoldings and wooden braces abound with hung lanterns and recuperating men seated to large unused braces. So much fatigue, so many problems. Havelast put on the face of strength and determination; his men needed to see it. And like that, his large back disappeared on down the road.

Nayon looked to Nima, who gave her a very sisterly wink, holding onto both her shoulders beside her. ?Now, just what was that all about.??

?....................? Nayon was busily grabbing at her hair, returning it to the style that it had taken many years for her to find a liking to; a style that was disturbed when she was drug out by it. Nima pursed her lips and looked at her curiously. ?..Well fine, you don't have to tell me anything. But still......? she waited patiently for the shy girl to notice her smile. ?.I think you should come with me.? Nayon's lips parted, surprised. She had nowhere to go when suddenly Techichi's daughter arrived and gave her a place. She resolved to this new duty. ?.....Okay.?

?Great!!? Nima said, flowing with life. ?Come with me,? snatching her hand and tugging her the opposite direction of the march, leading her through oncoming traffic until they had gotten to the sidewalk and began passing many homes and stores. ? ? We have to pick up a few things.?

Meanwhile, a scorching wind blew from the branches of the special bush and forestry that were indigenous to the Magma Lord's isle. High up, on the volcano's roof, a small team of three men were seeing to various tasks. ?Our efforts to antagonize the Magma Lord have done little to push the sea of fire into Adenna. Eizou has not changed.? the dragonscale-armored man, Amonas Jei said. On the ledge of the volcano, Teciszew stood, one foot propped up against a natural rock formation and overlooking the camps of men come to suppress the fire demon. Nearer him, was Calice Savorenius, the gifted black mage and older brother of Rijn; all of them Adenna's most wanted.

?We may have better luck with another guardian...? Teciszew suggested, looking through his mask with the design of a long pointer arrow upon it, center-face.

?No... This is fine for now. We divide their forces here, leaving Adenna's guard weaker for our mysterious ally to hopefully break through. Besides, I would not try with the illusionary arachnid until Calice has harvested enough magic. ? Magic I would much rather use for a bomb.? Amonas Jei approached said mage, standing some distance away with his staff in hands and his eyes closed. The long raven-black locks blowing ever so subtly from his face, he was disturbed when Amonas placed his armored hand on his shoulder. ?..How is it coming.??

?...? Calice returned to closing his eyes, a necessary move for calculating his abundance of energy. His eyes reopened, and looked the man. ?I am nearly halfway. We will need more magic than I had anticipated. The old castle fooled even me when Teciszew and I went to evaluate its sturdiness.?

? ? We killed quite a few men, though.? Teciszew interrupted, recalling the storm of magic needles that rained over so many soldiers, and then the bomb itself that brought down the interior hall. He placed his gloved hand on the black rock and shoved off it, choosing instead to walk the ledge and observe the microscopic men's movements below.

? ? ?. It will take some time, still.? Calice was able to finally finish after being interrupted.

?.Bah..!? Amonas flipped his back and thus cape to him. ?All this waiting. I would aggravate the sea beast if there was not such a powerful entity suppressing it. Instead, all I can be thankful for is that it keeps the young girl occupied.? Amonas grabbed onto his face in thought as he paced slowly.

?.....? Calice listened to this, opting to close his eyes and continue hoarding energy.

?I think I may be able to help you men...? a distorted woman's voice came, catching the attention of all three up on that peak.

?..!?
?.??
?...? Amonas Jei faced his caller, a woman, and clothed in a very plainly blouse with very elegant dress-pants. It was Erika, another villain of Adenna, and one Amonas and his band were unfamiliar with.

?I have just ? ? Erika began before being decapitated in an instant with the sword that was sheathed at her hip. Now in Teciszew's hand, and right before her he stood frozen in conclusive pose to his swing. The head hit the ground, and he slowly stood back straight, observing her falling corpse.

?... ? ..!? looking down at her headless body before looking at that sword in hand and releasing it as soon as he saw it glow with runes and explode. ?.....?

?aHahAhaHaHa...!!!? laughter came from the motionless body before yet another showed up, leaping to that rock Teciszew once propped against.

?...? Teciszew covered the slits of his mask with the back of his hand, forced to retreat several leaps back and out of the smoke.

?You had better pray we were not noticed.? Amonas Jei said, stepping to the side to peer down at the camps.

?I was right.... you are sexy men.? Erika said seductively, moaning as the ground beneath her rumbled and black hands of armor seized her form from beneath the ground. Dark Therapy magic. Amonas Jei was in a crouched position, overtaken by darkness of a black ink that seemed to have poisoned his face, hands and the volcanic floor they were placed upon. And instead of fearing this for the attack it was, Erika savored the rush of pain and transference of darkness until it consumed her so to the point of spastic gasps for air. A blackness ran up her throat, and the higher and darker it ran, the whiter became the rest of her as her eyes rolled. Finally, she was squeezed to death, bones crunching and all.

?...? Amonas stood, taking in the appearance of both fallen bodies, dressed slightly different, and both possessing the same anatomy. ?..They are copies.? Teciszew realized.

?... Show yourself. Enough of these games.? Amonas said, looking about the thick smog covering the rest of the volcano crest that they could not see. But slowly, a shadow began to thicken through it, and pass out from it the form of a robed witch.

?...If you men are done playing your games, now...? Erika peeked from the hood of her robe, red eyes assessing those gathered.

?What do you want?? Amonas Jei asked.

?........? she tested the men's patience right up to their breaking point, grinning and then waving with only one of her hands, apologetically. ?I apologize. I just wanted to see the faces of the men making life so gloriously miserable for the whores and bastard sons of Adenna.?

Calice focused his gaze on her, realizing something. ?So you are the mastermind behind this coup.?

?That's right, big man. And you are the dark magician that sent the Ichi bitch into grieving at the castle. I can't thank you enough. That took big balls, marching up to their front door like that.?

A frown from Calice, ?..? from the center of him, and without the slightest movement save for his widening eyes, a blast of energy shot forth and blazed right for Erika in such a time that would be impossible to respond to, and yet was. Summoning the face of a rune in the air, the beam was blocked and averted away, seeming to dissipate in the sky when really it had just traveled beyond their sight. ?..You boys play rough, I like that.? Erika grinned even brighter, even more devilishly.

?Don't test our patience, woman. What do you want?? Amonas Jei asked.

?...Six guardians, and you linger around the slowest, weakest one of them all. Why is that.?? Erika asked. Teciszew readied for the attack, but the outstretched arm of Amonas Jei halted him.

?Our business is our own... If you would like to tame one of the city's six monsters, then do so. I personally suggest the Sea Beast. But the Magma Lord is ours.? Amonas Jei said, earning a peculiar look from Calice while Erika laughed outright.

?That is funny! The powerful being fighting the Sea Beast is not one I would like to encounter again, but thank you.? her lips tucked back into that of a simple smile now. These men were dangerous, and she wanted more than anything to turn them on Adenna as well. Overkill was the only kill when it came to the Ichi bitch and her friends and family. ?...Well if you are so bent on staying here, perhaps I can send you some company.?

?What are you talking about.?

?You are strong, but I have something you want. Both Adenna's Kings are under my control, and their influence is only strengthening the more I poison the people.? Erika said.

? ? I have seen the misguided people. That is Shiji Kumo's doing, not yours.? Calice interrupted, getting an angry clenching of teeth his way from the witch.

?Even the great ice spider knows when a city's time has reached its end. The declining morale, the increased faith in whatever I proclaim, the city is under my control. And with my help, I can give you Adenna's final heroes, on ' 'special orders from the kings' ', wrapped nicely in a bow. If you're smart, we will take this city together.?

?We want a show of good faith. Give us Havelast Dagger Sasc.? Amonas said, getting a look-back from Teciszew.

?Such a prized warrior... why should I hand him over to you?? Erika serenely queried, replacing her hand into her robe with the other.

?You taunt me too easily, woman.? Amonas said growling, forming two fists and raising them slightly from their positions at his side.

?Now now. I have no reason to redirect your hatred, not when I would much rather see it on those you are here to destroy. I will give you the Dark Therapy Knight... tonight. But in return, I want you to do something for me.?

?Of course.? Calice said sarcastically.

?I see nothing wrong with it.? Erika replied to the dark magician, ?We both have backs in need of scratching in this overthrow.?

?..... What is your request.?? Amonas Jei asked.

Erika smiled. ?The most precious life in Adenna... The firstborn son of a legendary Siovanui Sorte. And I want him alive.?

?.....? Amonas Jei considered this.
?....!? Teciszew was shocked.
?....?? Calice was curious.

?Tonight, bring us Havelast Dagger Sasc tonight. And you will have your warrior prince.? Amonas Jei said.

?Excellent. It will be difficult to claim him. He will be well protected. But he is a young child, and I trust men of your, abilities, can get the job done. You can find him at the House of Atae. ? And if not there, then he will surely be in Liltu, the city of mages.? Erika turned and began passing through that smog once more.

?..Where will we deliver the boy.?? Amonas asked.

?...I will contact you again. But for tonight, enjoy my show of good faith.? Erika became a shadow once more, and then nothing at all. The three men looked among one another in a few moments of silence before Amonas Jei spoke up.

?Teciszew, Calice... I have a job for you both. You infiltrated the castle once, you can do it again. But this time, make for the treasure room.?

?...? The treasure room, Sir?? Teciszew questioned, and Calice let him do the questioning for him. ?...?

?Yes. Deep in Adenna's treasure room, there you will find two fabled weapons: The Truth, and The Falsiad. In realms of illusions and magic, the stunted rapier blade know as The Truth cannot be influenced in any way. It will never distort, it will never lie to your eyes or those who use it or are used upon by it. It is unchangeable. And The Falsiad is a demonic steel, as fatal as your imagination wills it. With it, you can truly turn a sword fight into a nightmare. I want you to use these weapons, Teciszew. Use them to take the child, for I will be seeing to our unfinished work here.?

?.....I understand.?

?..And what would you have me do.?? Calice asked.

?You are a skilled mage, Calice. You can continue to construct your magic bomb while assisting Teciszew. If your task takes you to the mage city, he will need your help.?

?...I see.?

? ? You trust this woman too easily.? Teciszew interjected.

?No... She has no reason to stray us. If she brings us our payment, we will see to hers. It is as simple as that. Remain with me until the black knight shows himself. If he does, you will depart immediately for the treasure room.?

?.Yes..? Teciszew nodded.

?...? Calice closed his eyes yet again, and returned to collecting.

?..We wait. We wait for Havelast ? Dagger ? SASC!!?

Yaaaaawn. Havelast masked his open mouth with a hand, returning to an alert medium as he walked with the many men around him, no longer in Adenna city limits. Grass was flattened under their boots as they trekked on up into the night air, coming up to the red glow of the Magma Lord's volcano, simulating a bloody sunset, and very easy on the eyes. Also in sight simultaneously with this was that of the various tents setup ahead, and the sight of his dear friend coming to greet him with a mighty grin.

?Havelast.! My dear friend!? Eizou exclaimed, alerting his men seated around camp that a band of reinforcements were approaching.

Havelast smiled, ?Hey old-timer. I heard you and your boys needed help.? coming up and into embrace with the man.

?You heard right.!? Eizou laughed going over his shoulder. But it pretty much became serious right after that when he returned to look him in the eyes. ?We do... but why have you come.??

?... Rahea and Victor ordered it. Something very unusual is going on, Eizou. I am keeping my eyes open.? Havelast said, and to Eizou's nod. ?..As you should. It is not with ease we have this war. Come, talk with me. I want to hear more of our kings' suspicious behaviour.? an arm around the Dark Therapy Knight, he led him to the many tables put together where men were busy eating. Morale did not come often during this campaign of guardian suppression, and their faces gradually voided of life and happy thoughts. But their will was hard broken. There was a job needing doing. They accepted this eagerly.

Their many eyes livened up at the sight of not one, but two of Adenna's commanding figures joining them at the tables. It was surprise more than anything, but something to pay attention to. Them being nearby was only comforting in a secondary sense. Slowly, they got their spoons back into their bowls. Havelast took a sighing seat, accompanied by Eizou's silent one opposite him. ?...? he looked down the tables, assessing the volume at which his conversation would be picked up by the men. They were down only a single empty table from them, so he minded to hush his words so as not to over-worry them. ?Eizou... you know Rahea as well as I do. He has always pledged his life to this city, and saw it through many hardships. But since this attack, he has not been himself.?

?How so.?? Rahea put an armored elbow on the table, making closer their distance.

?He divides our forces. Right now, the castle is unguarded. We are sent about too meaninglessly, and with his unwavering command. If an attack were to befall the city right now, ?? a hand went to Havelast's forehead. ?We would not make it in time.?

?Both our Siovanuis are occupied.?? Eizou asked.

Havelast thought a moment. ?Techichi is with the bridge dragon. Seirichi has just left with Dyarhk to the teahouse. Rijn and Lilith may even be in danger. We know nothing, and our kings' orders are only an additional hindrance.?

Eizou looked away, but not far from the Dark Therapy Knight. His eyes focusing on the gold of that hilt over his shoulder. ?..Liltu's aid has been undeniable. Their mages keep back the monsoons from rushing over the city. Havelast... if Adenna is flooded, the earth we have been bracing, all of it will be for naught, and the city may very well crush under the weight of the isles. This cannot happen.?

Havelast stilled, ?What is there to be done? The great chains of the aethers cannot be removed without demolishing the remainder of our city.?

?This is true. But it is also true that the chains cannot stay. Havelast... let me ask you your thoughts on the oracle.? Eizou said seriously, and receiving a look back just as serious.

?.....I am unnerved by her.? Havelast blasphemed, just between the two of them. Such thinking was treasonable as no one objected to the divine trust of the kings in her. But he could trust Eizou, because above all else they were sons of Adenna, and both Lily of the Valley at one point. Their duty to the city came before all else.

?As am I. I had to be certain you shared my thinking. Here.? Eizou slid a tiny wooden disc across the table to him. It was half of the Lily of the Valley's insignia, which without its other half, was a new and definition-lacking mark. ?I am holding a secret council meeting tomorrow night. Those of us feel a strong sense of wrong being done who have not been reeled in by the oracle's proclamations. Our people are dividing. Come to the door down Good Walk Avenue with this marking after the night's second lanterns are burned. We will get to the bottom of this.?

?..? Havelast had much athink about Eizou's apparent efforts at righting this peculiarity. But what it meant was that they could easily be filed for conspiring against the thrones. The harshness of it was such, but because of it was all the more reason to hold the meeting. In that regard, he accepted the identifying token almost immediately. A task needing doing; a necessity.

?AAAAAHH!!!? a man's scream lifted all the heads of the sorrowful at camp, and the ever-prepared to help ones of Eizou and Havelast. It had come from the road that went on to the volcano, and beyond its end where work had not yet reached. A horrific sound; Havelast slipped the token into his his breastplate at the neck. ?Who has permission to be out there??

? ? No one! ? They were going to move in with my company.!? Eizou up and raced the direction of the road with Havelast not far behind him, hurdling over the table.

The many men at camp called their lying swords and steel chests inside their tents and propped against various things outside and made to go join them. They would not get to remain in their clothes for bed like they had planned tonight.
The entourage of soldiers took down the road, passing its boot-made path and into the tall-standing grass once again, ever reddening from the cave entrance where Lord of magma was most regularly confronted. It was due to this, that their destination was much sooner and uniquely spotted than otherwise what with the shadow-casting blackness of the fiery light ahead of them burning upon the solid black silhouette of a man holding another by one arm alone.

Eizou and Havelast both took stances some distance beside each other just out of the forestry where the magma had reached on its best eruption. It was barren out here, and all the more appropriate for shadow dancing. ?..Who are you?!? Eizou yelled authoritatively.

?..? the black figure continued to hold onto the man, screaming those same screams that were heard from all the way back at camp. Silence and stillness between the three of them while the fourth man flailed about where he was gripped until his attacker's next move forced him to reach notes of a highness men did not normally reach unless something inhuman were happening to them. True to rumor, in this case, as the silhouette of a sword moved over the man and began cutting at one of his limbs like a butcher doing his job.

?Tch.!? Havelast could take it no longer. This was what he was here for, to stop these men from dying.

?Havelast! ? WAIT!? Eizou shouted, reaching for him. But the berserker was already well into his charge, swinging that mighty sword simultaneously with his foe that swung his through his victim's flesh to clang with the Dark Therapy Knight's in retreat. Havelast caught the now one-armed man, but he was alive. ?Hold on..! We'll get you to safety...? reassuring the man what was possible in his pain while he held out that mighty sword at his opponent that had leaped back.

?......? still in elegant pose from the position he landed from that disengage, he held out that weapon before pointing it at Eizou who had taken very few and obvious steps for him. ?..? he bowed to Eizou, before fleeing again, this time dashing away and exiting the battle.

?What..?? Eizou questioned to the red glow where he saw their enemy's enormous shadow cross on over into the darkness. But he and Havelast looked up then to the next grab for their attention. On the volcano's summit, from two orb's of starlight brightness did shoot lightning in reverse from its downward strike from the sky up into the night. A momentary realization from Eizou and Havelast to the only one capable of such arcane mastery. It was Calice Savorenius. Those bolts were no longer seen summoned up there, firing off their bolts in an over-flooding of power before they were fired down upon the two men.

Havelast and Eizou each took a knee and glowed a faint tint of green briefly as a crack of Jikangai energy busted forth and two armored turtle warriors engulfed them before being hit by the lightning cannon fire. First, the electricity produced smoke and cloud, and then conflagration as the true ingredients in the Savorenius mage's magic showed themselves; that, and it was all just so powerful. A flame on the ground, but when the smoke cleared, the two turtle warriors stood and then retreated, revealing Eizou standing and Havelast getting up off his knee, both of them moving forward.

?....? Calice looked down upon them.

?Go. I will take care of this. You have a job to do.? Amonas Jei said.

?..Very Well.? Calice ported mystically through an opal mirror of light that clinked like a glass coin in its disappearance. He next appeared running alongside the shadowy butcher of earlier, Teciszew. ?..?? looking to him, in doing so asking him how things went back at the volcano he had sprinted some great distance from now.

?It is out of our hands now... we have more pertaining matters.? Calice said, showing no signs of hindrance wearing those robes, able to keep up with the fast-running Teciszew. ?Credit me more. I would not forget an agenda as special as this one..? They raced off into the dark forest.

Back at the volcano, the swirling lava pool just inside was swelling, rising and making brighter Eizou and Havelast's battleground and making giant their shadows. Behind them, their men had arrived. Those that were not injured or stuck tending to the injured had come. A little more than half the camp. There were jobs still needing doing there, such as guarding. Still, the gathering was impressive and looked not unprepared for whatever fight may come.

?Show yourself, old friend.!? Eizou yelled, ?It is insulting to think I can't pinpoint your dark therapy at this range.? he took stance for now.

?...? the darkness was silent, and then flowed forth an isolated shadow that became a perfect circle before them, and a man eventually rising out from it and taking its place. Havelast, some distance behind Eizou kept his cool, despite discovering the identity of the person was Amonas Jei, his former mentor.

?..Adenna's very own sword and shield come to meet me. Do you have it in you, to kill a fellow founder of your city.? ? or a student to run a blade through his teacher...? Amonas drew a long sickening black sword from the purple aether.

?It is no difficulty to punish a great traitor. Your punishment just so happens to wait at the gallows.? Eizou reached to his side, a misty gate of green opened to the Jikangai where a long wooden box ornamented in flat precious stones and with writing upon them protruded forth out from the gate. He removed his decorative rapier from it with the glorious turtle shell guard and sung it from its sheath. ?Havelast..,? a look back, ?What are you doing? Ready yourself.!? he yelled.

Havelast snapped out of it. He was staring into Amonas Jei, into the poisonous carrier he now was; a vessel for the dark therapy to manipulate as it pleased. He was convinced of this. His mentor had been a good man, but the dark therapy was an evil magic. He was glad it had not gotten the chance to fully take himself over. But could he do it? ? could he truly kill his mentor? There was a great difficulty with this. Rahea was wrong. ?Do not let him inside your guard, Eizou. The black torrent spreads quickly.? Havelast entered the field of combat beside Eizou, continuing to walk towards Amonas while Eizou waved back to his advancing men.

?Stay back.!? Eizou shouted to the soldiers. ?Do not interfere! You will only jeopardize your own lives as well as ours.? he swung that rapier back to Amonas, seeing Havelast in preparative stance just a little ahead of him. ?...You have many crimes to answer for.?

?You are right... detain me.!!!? he shouted, triggering Eizou's renowned speed with that appropriate weapon. Upon Amonas Jei in no time, he swung over him to a predicted retreat. But where he ended up was where Havelast had a powerful swing charged in waiting. ?..!??

The toxic purple blade lucked symbolically with the white purity of Havelast's steel. Amonas's arms were large, large enough to contend with Havelast's strength for a time ? time he had to speak. ?Your form has changed. Have you forgotten my teachings so soon.??

? ? DO NOT LISTEN TO HIM, HAVELAST.!!? Eizou shouted, upon both men and lunging his rapier at Amonas, forcing the two to break. Havelast was indeed becoming fueled by rage, but Eizou's calling drew him to his collected self. ?..??

?Havelast.! I will not be able to beat him by myself. I need your help.? staring at him. ?Push him back... draw his attention. Give me time to call from the Jikangai.? spoken between the two of them. Havelast's eyes widened and his jaw nearly dropped. He nodded.

?You two are more cautious than usual... although I suppose I wouldn't want to risk getting cut from this sword either. Its edge will plague you down to your very soul.? Amonas said, examining his own weapon. The two men he faced joined together again now, returning his battle-ready pose.

?You cannot win this fight, Amonas. Like your company, you lack a life. You and Calice, and the man who has given his fleshly body to time have traded your lives for a darkness that grants you the power of emotionlessness, if you can call it a power.

?We have fought your kind before. And the darkness always vanishes in the presence of light!? Eizou pointed his sword at him, and Havelast charged out with his sword swung back.

?Huh..? What's this?? Amonas questioned himself, meeting Havelast's blade with his own. The true test had begun, exchanging blow for blow with their full strength behind them. Clang.! Clang.!! Clang.!!! The weapons continued to meet, each getting closer to ending this match than the last. They locked once more, clenching teeth at one another.

?Havelast.!! NOW!? Eizou shouted, his palms on the ground. Havelast was able to look back at him even in combat with his opponent, and then break and dive to the side. ?What is this trickery!?!? Amonas Jei shouted, watching Havelast flee, something he was never known to do. But it was Eizou he couldn't take his eyes off of. He brought them back to him, and was facing a summon from the Jikangai. An offering to the bridge dragon; a behemal statue. It fell through the air with a silence that was unsettling for something about to make so much noise. Havelast and Amonas Jei both looked on in fright being so close to the thing. Eizou was focused. It was moments before crashing, summoned over their heads, and falling down as if it were a real dragon swooping down. CRASH!

The ground quaked, and a stone dragon covered the ground outside the volcano. ?Havelast..!? Eizou called running alongside it towards where he had been. From underneath one of the wings, Havelast crawled out, his sword in hand. ?...That was your great plan..??

?It worked, didn't it?? he smiled, extending his hand and lifting Havelast back to his feet.

?Is this the best you can do!!?? the voice of Amonas shouted, seemingly ubiquitous. Havelast and Eizou looked all around them before it was Havelast that spotted him. He grabbed Eizou's shoulder and pointed him his direction, pointing what he saw.

?If you cannot even penetrate my defenses, then perhaps I can breach yours!? Amonas shouted with his arms up, his sword in one of them casting a gigantic shadow from the entrance to the volcano. Eizou and Havelast looked terrified. After a shout to summon more strength than a man should have, he buried that sword of his to the hilt into the earth, and like a virus it fanned out black veins in the mud, rooting in deep somewhere.

?NO.!!!? Eizou shouted, running at full speed after Amonas. But it was too late. The growl of a monster physically vibrated against their bodies, enough to make an average man vomit from the turbulence of it. Amonas stayed in his position to one knee, focusing the poison of dark therapy to its goal.

?Eizou.!! What's happening?!? Havelast fought for balance, using his sword in the ground himself now for a prop.

?Tch.!!? Eizou clenched his teeth. ?It is Guma Kizo... he has stirred him. ? ?

? ? ...The Magma Lord.? Havelast said respectfully and with the fear of a god.

? ? Havelast... if something should happen to me. You must be the one to lead the others at the meeting. Do not let our citizens wind up poisoned like your former teacher.?

Havelast gulped. ?I'll do what I must... but you're not going to die, Eizou. That is something I will not let happen.?

Eizou closed his eyes and smiled, ?...I don't know how much of a choice either of us has anymore.? ahead of him, the nightmarish image of Guma Kizo, the Magma Lord, grabbing the sides of its volcano's summit with its molten hands, lifting himself through the vent.

?Mighty Magma Lord.!! Rush into Adenna! Flood their city with fire.!!!!? Amonas Jei chanted, conducting the guardian's direction with his toxic blade; the blade pointed to the city.

?These are Adenna's final moments. OH how bright they will be!!? Amonas shouted charging after Eizou before the slow-flowing lava reached his heels. The face of the volcano was now red and smoldering, flooding over with the Magma Lord's belly flop down it, turning itself into a wave of fire. Havelast's sword met with Amonas's, but they would not fight for long. The rushing lava rapidly took over their battleground, and Havelast was forced to issue retreat orders to his men.

?Go now.!!! Get out of here.!!!? fighting back that poisonous sword. The men looked one another, hesitant to leave, but they did so. Back to the camp was where they would go, bestowing their trust in the two renowned protectors of the city. Some shut their eyes painfully, as painful as it had been to leave them. But they knew what to do, that being obey either of those men.

?Let's finish what I begun with you, pupil. Let's fill the rest of you with the darkness. Let's complete you.? Amonas Jei said to a very angry Havelast; a Havelast who was run out of options. ?Havelast... don't let him get to you.? was what Eizou had told him, but that was not working anymore. In a corner with a sword in his hands, and nothing to do but swing it. A powerful roar, and Amonas Jei was sent back, covering the crack in his shoulder armor with his hand. ?...??

?I will never be like you, Amonas. Do you hear me.!?? Havelast roared again, running at the man who was not so prepared for him as he had been when he come down from the volcano. ?That's it,? Eizou muttered, his face stricken with sweat. He was concentrating immensely. ?Amonas is not an easy opponent for you to face. Stay strong; just a little longer. Heh...? Eizou smiled to the lake of lava ever-advancing toward him. ?We are both running out of time.? shooting his eyes open suddenly and opening an unusual-looking gate to the Jikangai. A most peculiar opening to the layer of space Adenna hid its most unspeakable valuables. The opening fluctuated as if unstable before widening to a near sky-sized hole. It filled the overhead of the three men, and Havelast and Amonas were forced to pause their duel at the sight of a magnificent angelic being gliding down out of the opening.
Magical feathers of white rained down upon them as darkness also covered them in the form of a winged beast, only it was no beast. It resembled a swan with its white body, long neck and elegance. Only difference was that it had a left wing tremendously larger than that of its more normal-looking right.

?...I don't believe it.? Amonas said, observing the creature. He had understood Eizou's plan now, looking to the man in question who was indeed out of energy from summoning such a monster, but he was smiling confidently toward it. Havelast watched as well, but he watched differently from the other men. He did not grasp the intention of Eizou's plan. What could this mammoth bird possibly do? It beat its wings over to the lake of fire, coming down softly between it and Eizou, and not without whipping up a harsh wind until it landed. Eizou watched it, coming to a stand now and observing its efforts. Seating itself tightly and tucking its head and neck against its body, it made a strong defense, and then dug its oversized wing into the earth like a blade, and it reached from the ground up going even taller than the trees of the forest.

Now was the technical part. Eizou returned the beast to the Jikangai through a dimension he himself created. A perfect creation, in that it was purposefully built with a handicap; an imperfect perfection. Doing just what the Jikangai does, only in poorer quality, he began sending the mythical swan back. But in doing so, it only half-returned, overloading the magic that he was operating under. The lava rushed upon the wing and the body of the bird, and slowly it turned to a hard earthen rock until that very wing reaching skyward was stone and the all of it encased this lava flow. Eizou took a much needed lean to his sword, now a makeshift cane. He had done the impossible.

?No... this is.. ? .!!!!!? Amonas could not believe his eyes, and next, could not believe the sword thrust into his pectoral region. He grabbed the blade, but Havelast was already well onto shoving him back and to the ground with it. Pinned, his poisonous swordhand stood on, he gazed up at the man with his second hand on the pommel of his golden hilt. ?You and your kind will learn one way or another, Adenna will not founder.?

Amonas growled, ?This is not done yet. This is not done yet!? he shouted, diminishing into exact darkness and dispersing in a toxic cloud, forcing Havelast to leap back. He joined back with Eizou, overlooking the risen monolith.

?..Well done.? Eizou complimented, smiling weakly.

? ? Is there any victory to be had here.??

?...? Eizou dropped his smile, looking at him.

?When the fight is so close to home, and so much damage can be done... our enemies win even if they lose.? Havelast sheathed that sword to his back once more, walking, heading back for camp. Eizou watched him sadly go. ?Homes can be rebuilt..! ? Havelast.? he called out to him, but muttered his name. The man was wounded inside.

Havelast's armoured greaves imprinted the mud as he made back to camp from one fiery site to another. But it was the latter that was not supposed to be aflame. His eyes widened. ?..No....? he whispered. ?It cannot be.?

His long flowing cape blew behind him, blew behind him with the wind from the dancing flames as he took off for the ablaze tents and desecrated sites that had been so lively and lived-in only just before their fight with the Magma Lord. When Havelast arrived at the scene, he shielded his face from the heat, and when he was able to see, he wished the he hadn't. Arcane remnants had dispatched many of his team's finer warriors, and warriors that were not obliterated upon the trees and ground were butchered by what could only be the unruly chops of Teciszew. Separate the men from the commanders, and do away with them easily. They had planned this.

?H-Havelast!!? a man called, wounded and under a fiery obstruct. Havelast dove immediately for him, stabbing that royal sword into the fiery equipment that had been set on fire and shoving it up miraculously to push it to the side. Havelast recognized him immediately. The man who had survived that encounter with Teciszew only because he wanted him to scream and sound the alarm for them to come running. He made a fist with that steel-clad hand. If he had been left alive then, perhaps, he had been set as a trap now. Havelast jerked his head to look around him, but saw nothing. He returned to the crying man and pulled him as far best away from the tragedy as he could ? back to where Eizou was approaching the encampment.

?......No.? Eizou murmured.

?We played into their hand perfectly, Eizou. Fathers and sons perished tonight, ? and in the morning children will wake up fatherless, and women will wake up widows.? throwing his sword to lay in the mud beside the man he'd rescued.

?Dear Gods.? Eizou muttered again.

?No... they are anything but that after this.?

The injured man in his arms, the brave and tall knight Havelast pondered the return to the posts within the city. Information had to be given and this man needed healers' attention. ?Come on, Eizou. Let's head back.? beginning his walk away from their fiery camp.

Eizou watched him begin to leave. He looked into the mud that tarnished the golden-hilted sword before deciding to pick it up and clean it with the long skirt of his battle dress. He did this while walking to keep with Havelast; to make sure they were not separated too greatly. He made the hilt shine fully again. He did this while keeping in mind that Havelast must also do the same; he must shine, because he is in the eyes of the people, and their morale does not need to see him muddied.

?Havelast...? the man tried to speak. It obviously strained him a great deal. He had been adjusted so with the sword to live through its damages and preach its work in screams. ?I am sorry we could not hold them off.? a weak smile.

?What is your name, soldier?? Havelast asked down to the man.

?Trenton Messaue. My father is Balt. We run the general goods.. store.? an apologetic smile, wishing he had more of a soldier background to speak of.

?Trenton. You are going to live. Someone's gotta run that store. Your father can't do it all by himself. He needs you.? Havelast said, doing quite the opposite of the usual telling the injured man to keep quiet and conserve his energy. He wanted to replace his thoughts of dying, even if he was going to. But though Havelast suspected he may die, he put so much of his attention onto him surviving. Like he were a family member.

?He.. does all the work most of the time anyway.? Trenton smiled. Havelast's plan had worked. The two men smiled at each other. Behind them walking, Eizou gave a soft little smile.

Ahead of them horses and spears and flags and armor could be heard approaching. It was too large to be a band of Adenna's raiders. Eizou and Havelast stopped in the center of the grassy open that still had the tall fires of the burning camp behind them. Anyone would tell with just a look over that camp that there were no survivors. The fact that Trenton had made it had been a miracle. But they weren't there yet.

?Look...? Eizou pointed with Havelast's sword he held. The flags bore a special insignia. It was the Clovered Cross with elegant decoration and tapestry work. ?The King's banner.?

At the head of the pack wearing majestic armor atop majestically armored horses of just as much majesty were Rahea, and Victor Maxey Rial; joint rulers of Adenna. They came up to the two men assessing the damages behind them with curious faces and control.

?My... it seems we were right to suspect this zone as critical defense point. We were right to post here.? Rahea said, reigning his horse to stop and face the three men before them. Victor held his mighty arm up and stopped the cavalcade.

Havelast's eyes shivered with shock at his introductory words. ?My Lords. The fort is gone. We are all that's left. Eizou and I fought against Amonas. His magic is stronger than ever before now. We must gather our forces ? ?

?Is that what we must do, King Havelast?? Rahea interrupted.

Shock. Silence.

?That is better. Now, who is this you have got with you?? Rahea asked, settling with an alternate lean, hand on hip, one hand his saddle horn.

?This.. this is Trenton Messaue. He was posted at the camp. If he doesn't receive our healers soon, ? ?
again Havelast began, but was interrupted.

?Trenton Messaue. Can you speak?? Rahea asked almost with a sigh.

?Y-Yes, My Lord.?

?Your endurance is most impressive. You inspire our entourage. But you do not need to mourn your fallen comrades so soon. You may yet reconvene with them in the glorious afterlife. An Adennian post is guarded to the death. No man's job is done while it still needs protection, and it is one of our most important positions.? Rahea motioned for a small number of his men to march forward. These men were to go onto the new camp.

Havelast watched these men come up, obviously about to go and refortify at the camp. His breaths became louder as his anger began to flood. Of all Adenna's men, he could keep his calm the best, and here it was almost impossible. ?Your Highness!!? he shouted, putting a halt to all this continuation.

?You cannot send more men to that fort. You cannot! It is too close to the volcano! It is outside of our archers' protection! You are creating a slaughterhouse for our people.? a dark growl took on his face.

?Havelast, watch your tongue!? Eizou spoke up to defend his friend and stop him.

?You forget your place, Dagger Sasc!!? Victor shouted, kicking his horse's hindquarters and coming up to the center of their conversation.

Rahea kept his eyes narrowed on Havelast. He thought of how ?best? to respond to this situation, as he was known for being tactical. He lastly sighed silently, though looking disappointed, and spoke up, ?I understand battle has tolled upon you all. But Adenna needs us all to do our job. Havelast, you must report back to the court for War Command with our councilors. Eizou, you are needed with the continuing appeasement process of Shiji Kumo. Its dreams haunt our people. Just yesterday a woman took her own life because of a dream that her family would see ruination. This is discouraging.

?As for you, Trenton. We can spare little men during this tragedy. We will need you to return to your post. If you should die, do so with pride and your honor will be preserved. The rest of you! Move in to take the place of your fallen brothers! Show our foes Adenna does not step backwards at a threat; we step forward!? Rahea shouted over to the men with just the powerful gesture of his vein-protruding neck tossing his head their way.

A battle chant responded back.

Havelast was at a loss for words. He could not even look at Trenton. How could he? He would be breaking his promise to him.

Formation of the Resistance

The following day the townspeople that were not off providing some sort of aid to this citywide devastation were befallen with a further hit to their morale making it little more than their actual numbers themselves. And there were few. It was a blessing in a way that those who received the ?news? were working. They could continue their work and keep their mind off it. The elderly, the young, and their dependent caretakers were not so fortunate when Rahea rode into the center of town to deliver word ahead of a distant eruption.

?Mothers. Sons and daughters. It grieves me to tell you that our latest band has come into confrontation with our great enemy. They were engaged, and, unfortunately, behind the power of the Magma Lord, our forces were greatly disadvantaged. We are still... scouting for survivors, but understand that the site is still very dangerous until the Magma Lord settles. We would only be throwing more men into its carnage at the moment.

?What I ask of you now is to grieve for our fallen fathers and sons. They have done their part as men of Adenna, and will not be forgotten. I also ask that you consult your homes. Those of you who have found yourself unable to swing a sword for many years, but could yet again in lieu of this threat that threatens our city, we call upon you to aid us. We call upon you to aid us like we call upon our builders and tunnelers helping make this city livable again while this goes on. We need every pair of hands. We are even calling our Siovanui eligible back from the Training Grounds. We have never done this before. But we are breaking many molds to save our great city.

?Your prayers are needed. Another team must and will be formed and prepared to head back out to the position plagued by fire. The post must not be surrendered to the enemy. Your loved ones may not return from this great service... so they are counting on your prayers. Continue to do all you can. Adenna is All.? Rahea ended his address and began departing with his knight guards he rode in with.

The reaction to his words hit painfully hard with the listening women, working men and the like. Many of their faces so shockingly saw that their very people vanishing before them. Many saw the end of Adenna; approaching slowly. One woman, a mother of only sons, could hold back her emotion no longer. Dropping her woven basket filled with rations for the workers down by the dangerous tunnels, the woman prepared to rush over and cry for reconsideration before Rahea.

The elderly woman had already lost two sons to this tragedy. One of her sons had been posted at the Magma Lord's fort. And now it seemed another of her few remaining boys would be standing in line next to lose his life like all the others being sent to that post. She did not, however, reach Rahea and his guard. A large hand reached out from a brown and tattered cloak to take her shoulder and stop her.

A tear-strewn face desperately sought out who might stop her from pleading for her boy's life. The hooded figure, his face hidden in shadow, brought that hand from her shoulder to present a hushed suggestion to her with a finger to his lips.

?Miss. What are doing?? the man asked quietly, as if disguising also his voice.

?This war effort will claim no more of my sons. Excuse me.? she said with composure; something that took her a great deal of effort to do. Turning, she prepared to go for Rahea once more, but was again, stopped.

The man's large arm took hold of her own this time. ?You object to what is going on here?? he asked with great seriousness. Seriousness that thirsted for an answer in the hushed parts of the gathered citizens.

?My family has lived three generations in Adenna. This is not how we do things.? she replied back with her arm held in the man's grip still.

There seemed to be a decent time of thinking going on from the stilled man at hearing the woman's words. ?Come with me.? he suggested with some urgency, pulling her to a nearby alleyway. And it was here he pulled back and exposed who he was. It was Havelast Dagger Sasc, and looking very different than he had been the day before. He looked focused. But perhaps some of that may have been the carefulness given to making sure they were not being watched.

?Sir Havelast!? the woman exclaimed quietly.

?I had to be certain that you also felt as I do. You are right. Adenna is not herself. And something must be done. But we cannot trust our rulers to do this, anymore. You want to save what family you have left... come here... at the seconds immediate after the midnight stroke.? reaching that hand out again this time to hand her directions to a building in one of the city's districts. It had been written upon a seemingly defaced Adenna crest of the Clovered Cross. Three of its four leaves had been colored in black. The new emblem of the newly established resistance of Adenna.
