((OOC: Hello everyone and thank you for keeping patient with me. We're finally here. First thing I would like to get out there is that there is no rush to send in your performance posts. The timeline for the exhibition does indeed go to December 4th, but that merely dictates the end of the presentations and evaluation. There will be a slight period allotted after that to give people time to vote properly. At the conclusion of the poll, the judges SECRET scores will be added up as they were made note of during the competition. No judge is to give out his score prematurely.
I would like to request everyone keep your fingers off the poll until you've seen the submissions HERE of who you're considering since I'm going to go ahead and put the poll up early. But if you already know who you're voting for? Even then, wait and see what the other contestants have to offer! Submissions will go HERE. The poll will remain open until the 14th! So plenty of time to get your submission in and make that vote count! Please limit one vote per character. Get busy! Remember, the poll only controls 3 points on the final scores. The judges control 30. Not a lot on its own, but still potentially a game changer. While we're on that, let's talk about the submissions.
If you are one of the ten finalists, i.e. Katt, Leda, Corea, Seiri, Tara, Janis, Freia, Atae, Techichi, or Nima, then here is where you've been waiting to post. Your post should contain but is not limited to: A picture to accompany your post, IC catwalking, and answering the judges questions. If your picture doesn't close your vote, your descriptive hipswaying is going to have to do the job!
After initial replies are made, everything rp-related will carry over to the General City Things thread, so take everything over there after you're done selling the goods here.
Also! Entrants! See this backstage setup post before you saunter out to the soundtrack of Charles Aznavour for additional background and to make sure Miss South Carolina of Miss Teen USA 2007 fame doesn't repeat itself!
We're not done yet. So get those performances in, and feel free to write yourself in wearing a bathing suit off Koyliak's Mille & Mallie Department store chain, or the Pearle De Causey line or company of your choice! Have fun.))
Let There Be Bikinis
A conference hall's noisy whispering and pre-show chatter filled out much of Daichi's Banquet Hall in the main castle that was not already filled with cameras running checks, news teams running mic checks, appearance checks, spectators performing is-this-seat-taken checks, and the staff and judges themselves conversing amongst one another about today's evaluation. Today was special.
The normally decorative tables to the usually hundred-gold-a-plate dinners were cleared out in favor of burgundy cushioned theater chairs, and they were filling fast. Spectators filed in with their press pins, tape recorders, digital cameras, and post-show interview ambitions with them. The stage itself was black and stickered with guide markers for the catwalk to the audience and the one back to Christopher Andan's side where they would face the judges. A few sandbags had been poured out at the back of the stage and decorated with a beach towel, beach ball, and a few tanning lotions just for the visual of what the competition stood for.
Backstage, behind the curtain, the women were dressed and done up and ready to come out. With the numbered ribbons on the fronts of their suits, they had traded some of their high hundred digits for single ones. They were as follows. Katt wore #1, Leda #2, Corea #3, Seiri #4, Tara #5, Janis #6, Freia #7, Atae #8, Tetch #9 and Nima the #10 ribbon.
Chris walked to where he would stand and was handed his microphone already powered on. He coolly shook any jitters from his person and faced the crowd with an inviting and thankful smile.
The crowd became silent as the proceedings began to come underway.
?...Five years ago, a few people got it into their heads that Adenna should host a bathing suit competition. They didn't think much more on it than that, but that was okay. We were able to see what was... and what could be.? Chris smiled and dipped his head as the lights darkened and a projector made up on the blank back wall with what appeared to be a powerpoint of some kind. The first page was shown to the audience.
?The first year was relatively no budget, and yet the organizers were able to raise enough funds to get our library fully furnished... including a fully furnished children's section.? Chris led to the next slide.
?The second year had a relatively low budget that was appropriately spent on turning the contest into the form of pageantry that it is today. This competition was widely celebrated, and welcome to community morale, as well, since we were just coming out of a time of war. Again, we were able to up walls to further the betterment of our community and overall quality of life.? Chris flipped to the next slide.
?The third year we changed venues to the castle to accommodate our largest contest to date with over seven-hundred contestants. The funds earned from this competition were enough to build a music hall and studio that is used today to give our children the opportunity to learn a musical instrument, something I think is infinitely important in a young person's life.? He flipped to the last and final slide.
?Last year we saw record-breaking entrants again, topping the seven-hundreds. You may have noticed our city is submerged beneath several outer isles, but it was not always so. And now we are finally affording the repair costs to construct safer tunnels, waterways, and a safer place to call home for everyone.? Chris handed the tiny remote back to one of the staffers as the lights began to come back on.
?If you will all take a moment to check under your seats. You will find a gift basket. This is our small way of saying thank you for coming, for this year we celebrate Rhy'Din's invitation to our city for participation in the Fifth Annual Adenna Swimsuit Competition, and let me say firsthand, their delegates are bringing the competition to us.? Chris said plain but proudly.
Applause.
?I will now introduce you to the judges. From left to right is Harris D'Artanian, holder of innumerable sporting titles of the punching, elbowing, and kneeing variety. Impossible not to recognize with his signature blue hair and razor sharp wit, he brings his sometimes harsh but nevertheless truthful opinion with him wherever he goes. And that has led him here ladies and gentlemen.
?Beside him, Isaac de Porthau. 'Baron du Vallon de Bracieux de Pierrefonds.' Musketeer of the Guard, protector of King and Country and life's favourite lover...but, he is better known as Porthos and wishes you all, Friends, to address him as such.
?On the right end of the table is a family man and friend to many of you. Dyarhk. A well-rooted community member and contributor, he's also very honest and sincere; the exact qualities we're looking for, and you would expect, in a judge of this competition.
?Now, without further ado, let's begin the Fifth Annual Adenna Swimsuit Competition!?
Applause.
The music fades in.
?First up is Kathryn Rhysata...? Chris said back to the curtain where the light focused. Poor Katt, so worried about this whole thing and she was up first. Wouldn't even get a chance to see how the others before her handled things. But if Chris' words were true, she wouldn't have anything to worry about but following his instructions. None of them would have to worry. He was there for every one of them with their brief summaries, including their names so they did not have to worry about them. A brief description accompanied the music and the girls' catwalks all the way to the 'question and answer portion' where, with their thank you, would be free to depart.
