I tell you a tale that starts out like any other... on a brisk Halloween morning . . .

Walking down the streets of Adenna never felt better. The roads, walkways and sidewalks were all clear of snow except for the yards, and a delightful chill reminded children to wear their sweatshirts and the older bunch to put on something longsleeve just as a precaution. There Dyarhk walked with a friendliness down the street and a wave to all the faces he saw, the first of which had been Missus Perry setting out an apple pie on her window sill and Miss Miranda opening the shutters of her window nextdoor to let her kitchen air out from a negligent cooking mishap.

?Good Morning, Ladies! Sure is a nice and breezy day, today!? he said, full of energy.

?Good Morning, Dyarhk.? spoke Missus Perry first.

?Hm,? Miranda replied, not used to being greeted, and when she was, it was usually by animated community members such as Dyarhk. ?Oh. Hello. What are you doing out so early??

?I'm going to gather my friends for lunch! And I'm already late! You beautiful ladies have a great day, now!? waving to them before he picked up a jogger's pace. Leaving both women in a bit of a stupid, leaning out their windows to watch a man of his age and size pick up a sprint for such an unworthy cause in their minds. A look to one another before shrugging and resuming their respective duties.

That relaxing walk made its triumphant return with the addition of three more sets of feet joining him. Walking alongside Dyarhk now had been none other than Techichi herself, the love of her life, Lilith, and the battle prophet, Mage. None of them save for Lilith showing remotely the enthusiasm about lunch that Dyarhk had been showing.

?This is going to be so good. It's the Tuesday deal! Your food tastes all the better when you know you're getting it for a superdeal.? Dyarhk beamed, eyes closed despite his perfection sense of direction where he had been walking.

?Food's food. You hear that enough from my daughter. You don't need my constant reminding.? Tetch said in a most merciful mood, her eyes remaining bored and uninterested while she walked in favor of a raging pre-attack glare. The wintertime was helping her from overheating as quickly as she would in say, the summertime.

Dyarhk then put on a sad face and looked back to his party, but it wasn't Tetch's poor energy he was looking at, it was Mage. ?Say, Mage. Did you have to bring that giant sword?? he asked.

?I do not go anywhere without a formidable weapon.? Mage simply stated.

?I see that. Or a really cool cape, at that. Say, Mage, could you tap into your 'sight beyond sight' and confirm that lunch today is going to be, awwwesome?? Dyarhk blush-smiled. A sigh came from Mage just then, but it was one that had made its peace with this man a very long time ago.

?Listen you,? Tetch said, clutching the once wrinkle-less burgundy dress shirt Dyarhk wore untucked over his jeans. ?I am cramping, and the first thing I need right now is to distract myself with something to eat. The last thing I need is you and your bubbly personality dancing all around my head like there's a party going on!! Do I make myself clear?! Or do I need to kill you??? Tetch roared, showing that the wintertime had not been doing all that much to cool her fragile machinery.

Dyarhk blinked into the eyes of the monster, ?Easy does it, beautiful fire-breathing maiden, I get what you're selling.? zipping his lips and turning to continue on the walk that was now venturing into the lonesome lamp-lit tunnel system, leaving the main city of Adenna and aiming toward the cliff face on the coast where Atae had setup a very successful restaurant.

?Calm down, my Techichi. You only upset your stomach further by getting upset.? Lilith consoled the Siovanui woman by reaching a hand out to take hold of the Ichi's naked arm. Indeed, Tetch wore a sleeveless bright red shirt underneath a black, fashionable cut-off life preserver.

?Psh.? Came from Tetch, showing compliance with the White Witch. ?Just order me something with pumpkin in it. I'm in the mood for that Halloweeny taste.?

?Hahah. You said weenie.? Dyarhk pointed over at her, picking a fight.

?Grrr!!? Tetch growled, moving to go over and throttle him before Lilith clung onto one of her arms cutely.

?Whatever my Ichi requests. I will see to it. It is my job to take care of you now, after all.? a pleasant thought rode on Lilith's face, one Techichi did not quite understand with her angry glare while the White Witch laid the side of her face on her shoulder. Mage didn't give anymore than a corner of one of his eyes to this exchange before he assumed walking the close-eyed path, being apart of the order of cool guys who can walk with their eyes closed, clan.

?Something with pumpkin in it, huh. I'm sure we can do that. Pumpkin pie, pumpkin bread, pumpkin cheesecake, pumpkin pudding, pumpkin delight. Heheh. And I know what we can get, Mage. We can get some nice hot soup to warm us up from all this cold.? Dyarhk laced his fingers behind his head while he walked, now. The happy little thing.

The path had gotten dark and the lanterns that lit the way all but spread out now. This was of no bother to anyone in the traveling party except for Mage who had now been paying a single watchful eye to its peripheral. If anyone here would be caught off-guard, it would not be him.
But little did any of them know, mischief lurked just on up ahead. Hiding just around the bend of the upcoming tunnel crossroads, there spied Erika Lortz with her evil mistress, Felipe. Adenna's own public enemy number one. And while the troupe led by the whistling party leader approached, they planned their surprise attack.

?This is the moment we've been waiting for, Felipe. Ready the flame spell.? Erika whispered.

?This is the moment we've been waiting for, Felipe. Ready the flame spell.? Erika whispered.

?Yes, my mistress.? quietly replied Felipe, preparing the spell in her hand and then holding it behind her back as they prepared to make their move.

Leaping out from their tunnel into the center of the crossroads, Dyarhk and his band paused on an alert status and squinted eyes to make out who it was before them.

?Erika!? Dyarhk said with surprise.

?Erika!!!?? Tetch roared stepping up to the Palliator ahead of Mage and Lilith with an uncontrollable anger in her expression.

?Mwahaha! You are not looking so well, Techichi! You must be missing me terribly. I can understand why, of course, after our bonding time shared out on the islands. They're not so far away now,? Erika said, placing her hand out to the mud wall that made up the tunnels. ?I think I like it this way.?

Mage reached back to his shoulder and gripped the hilt of his formidable sword while Dyarhk 'Tch'd!' and glared angrily at Erika's antagonizing. It was Tetch who was the most upset. Nothing new there. ?Erika!? Tetch growled, ?It's been too long since we've seen what it is your skull looks like.? habitually moving to roll up a sleeve that was non-existent on her sleeveless arm.

?Hahah. Now! Felipe!? Erika replied.

Then, the rape-toy of the evil Erika did as she was commanded and fired out a fine fire blast that was too small to deal any decent damage to a target. Such was not its purpose, however. Striking the ground and igniting a gunpowder design, soon the four were shielding their faces from a strong heat that reached up to them from large and plentiful flames.

?What's this?!? Dyarhk asked out amongst the high flames. It was just a roaring and spreading thing around them, but from a bird's eye, it was an elaborate illustration from an old hellish tome never meant to be read by eyes of any kind. Leave it to Erika and her horrific scheming to break these sorts of decrees.

?This is not good.? Mage said, having tried to approach the end of the circle and, using his sword as a shield, leap through. But this was not meant to be. The flames roared higher, so high as to blast the man back and lower a black-charred sword-face and his partial ears while he coughed. ?Something else is at work here.?

?Indeed,? Lilith said, chiming in behind her Techichi. ?This is no ordinary flame. I fear Erika has researched from a forbidden tome. It is a tome I even do not wish to borrow its learnings from for the trouble it would bring. Obviously this has not bothered Erika. Techichi, my heavens and sunlight. Quake the ground with one of your amazing punches. It will disrupt Erika's configuration of this seal.? calling out to the short-haired woman's ear.

?Right.? Tetch said, bringing back a fist.

?You are too late!? Erika called out to the wide eyes of the four inside the ring of fire. The floor opened up beneath them to a place not like the expected underground at all. Through a swirling purple nexus ring the five did fall and down a bone-walled pit crashing into a collection of bones at the very bottom where only a few lonesome torches burned.

Stirring at different stages of recovery, some of the four experiencing easier falls than others. Mage was one of the first to his feet, sending tiny bones clicking and clacking amongst one another as he flung them from his cape and gazed up the distance they'd fallen from.

Techichi soon joined him and gazed up angrily. It did not help to keep a level head in this dark situation that Erika and Felipe both looked down to them gathered around the nexus loop that was beginning to close.

?Enjoy your eternal torment, Lilith of Liltu, and Techichi of Adenna. The only way out of this Well of the Damned is to resonate its walls with a righteous sound to awaken the dead that make it! But that is okay. I understand the limitations posed to your feeble abilities,? Erika cackled. ?At least your proud city will write songs about your death to resonate with the heartstrings of its citizens. Farewell!? a last waving before the overhead nexus swirled its last purple rotation before closing up.

Dyarhk

Indeed, it had been a giant well made of bone. And on up the well structure went could it be presumed that its opening was sealed by a large coin stone. Techichi sat Lilith down, having caught her and seen to her safety during the fall. Dyarhk and Mage walked separate sides of the well floor, scoping out its details. Lilith stood in place, trying to think up a solution.

?Well of the Damned? Doesn't sound like a place I'd want to fetch water out of.? Dyarhk, having found what was left of the stringed bucket and tossing it to a pile of bones very shortly after picking it up.

?Certainly not, Dyarhk. It is as I feared. Erika has concocted a masterful plan this occasion. We may not see light of the sun again after this day.? Lilith said, inspiring a stronger resolve in Mage's examining eyes. Techichi was affected similarly.

?Like Hell this is how I'm going down! I was supposed to get eaten by a giant dragon! Or go down in some other sort of magnificent battle!? Tetch crushed a skull within her clutches instantly.

?Please, collect yourself, Techichi. I am trying to think. What was it that Erika said? A righteous sound will awaken the dead and create a way out of here.? Lilith crossed her arms under her rather large bosom.

?How might one go about this...? Mage speculated.

?Just what did Erika mean?? Lilith whispered quietly with a very focused stare.

?Hey! Look what I found over here, guys!? Dyarhk said with an easter-egg hunter's enthusiasm over around a large mound of bones. He pointed to a series of musical instruments left in seemingly working condition. A guitar, a tambourine, a microphone, and a drum kit. ?We could make some pretty righteous sounds with this stuff.? going over.

?Halt, Dyarhk! Those fetishes may be cursed!? Lilith, raising her voice, lifted a hand.

Too late.

There Dyarhk stood with the guitar on, his head and shoulder through the strap fastened onto it already, and his shirt completely scorched off by doing this. ?Oh. Crap.?

?Take it off!? Mage hollered.

?No, no! I think it's okay, man. It doesn't seem to be doing anything else. It just burned my shirt off.? he said as he already began plucking with the strings. Powerless strokes. Then he turned the volume knob and a boisterous power chord rang out. Lilith squinted her eyes tightly in pain and Tetch similarly, who hollered out.

?Knock it off! You idiot!!? she shouted.

?Hmhm!? Dyarhk giggled, muting the strings by wrapping his left grip around them. ?Sorry.?

?Hm. Now this is beginning to mesh with my earlier vision.? Mage said, approaching the fetishes.

?You mean to tell me you had a premonition about us falling in here and you didn't WARN us??? Tetch's voice broke in her scream.

Mage shook his head. ?What I am allowed to observe in my abilities is never a full picture. This time it was not a vision of any sort. It was a sound. Like the one Dyarhk just made, ? only, it is incomplete.? he said with his problem solver's face on.

Lilith nodded with those crossed arms she still had, having walked around the mound and over to them now. ?I think it is beginning to make sense, now. We must get out of here. But we must do as Erika explained, and awaken these resting spirits.?

?And just how do you expect to do that, Lilith?? Tetch slid down the mound, having chosen not to walk around it.

Picking up the microphone, Lilith held it weakly letting it weigh her wrist as she held it out to Tetch to show her what she intended. ?Isn't it obvious. We are going to create the sound required to awaken the dead.?

A blank face from Tetch at that. ?I hate to tell you, my love. But Nima was the one who got the blessing of a singing voice.? a look bearing the absence of an entertained one.

?You... you... don't like my singing?? Lilith began, as if tearing up, before she let her waterworks go.

A smile from Dyarhk, ?Hey. That's probably the first drop of water this well has seen in a millennia!?

?It is saltwater.? Mage corrected, picking up the tambourine and shaking it experimentally.

?ENOUGH! You both! You have made my beloved shed her tears! Hold your tongues from now on until we have figured out a way out of here.? Tetch said, taking the White Witch into her breast and patting her back while she let her tears flow. Dyarhk and Mage looked plainly at her at that, as if to frown upon in distaste that she had earnestly tried to pull that one over.

?It is... it is okay,? Lilith said, collecting herself. ?I see there are four fetishes here. That is one for each of us. One of these must... or perhaps the right combination...? she speculated further.

?You gotta use 'em together in order to get outta here.? a new voice contributed to the four's debate.

?Yes. Of course. Why didn't I think of that?? Lilith said over to Techchi, where the voice had come from.

?I didn't say that.? Tetch said, looking over her shoulder where a skeleton hung comfortably.

?Wetchup.? The skeleton greeted with a bony and crackly wave of his hand.

Tetch and Lilith both screamed, as was expected of their gender, while Mage assembled fists and Dyarhk wound the guitar back like a bat or some other striking instrument.

?Should have guessed something was lurking down here.? Mage gripped and gripped again the hilt of his sword during this brief standstill.

?Nothing that won't be powder in a matter of seconds.? Tetch responded, reaching to take the skeleton from her shoulder.

?Hey now! There's no need for that! I only woke up because someone shook the Tambourine of New Life.? the skeleton explained with that expressive, waving hand.

A brief pause was shared by all with some looking around to one another.

?Is that what this tambourine does? Gets you bones up and walking around?? Mage asked, examining the instrument now with his sword turned into the ground.

?Indeed, feeble human.? the skeleton said very casually and with a cute fat man's voice.

?If that awakens you guys, then what do we need these other three for?? Dyarhk asked.

?It is to broaden the projection of the tambourine's ability, you see. The wizards who fell down into this precipice were not great spellcasters, but they were great musicians. And to get out, they cast the necessary tools onto their instruments. They imbued the tambourine with the most meaningful of all the abilities, because they felt the tambourine was extremely underrated as an instrument.? the skeleton explained with that adorable, chubby voice.

Dyarhk shook his head secretly to Mage.

?And how did the wizards escape without their instruments?? Lilith asked.

?Oh they didn't. They're right over there.? the skeleton pointed over near Dyarhk who had been the closest to where the instruments were found to some nice and colorfully ?robed? skeletons.

?Aah!? Dyarhk squealed.

?Listen, Bonebag. We're gonna go. So tell us exactly how to use these things so we can get out of here.? Tetch said over her shoulder to the smiling skull.

?With the addition of that human brandishing the Guitar of Defabrication, I see that you are the only one who has yet to procure a fetish. Pull yourself up a pile of bones and take up a seat at the skins. If you ever want to escape here, you four must perform the most fabulous song these walls have ever heard. The town above this well was beside of a performing theater where musicians traveled from all around to play upon. Music is very much apart of this well's history, you see.? the skeleton gave his tour while Tetch made over to the drums and ?built? herself a seat. ?Hey, be careful with those. That's my dermatologist in that pile.?

?So what does this fetish do?? Lilith asked.

?Bring it to your lips and speak into it, my dear. Oh. And don't forget to flip the "on? switch.? the skeleton reminded.

Lilith held it upside down to see the switch before flipping it, and then readied to speak into it. With a well-vibrating tremor, everyone's bodies and ears were shook by the surprisingly ?good? sounding voice of the White Witch.

?How do I sound
you guys?
Do I sound
Alright?? Lilith asked melodically.

?Dear Gods, Lilith. You sound amazing.? Dyarhk complimented with wide eyes.

?He's right. That was incredible.? Mage added, scientifically stumped.

?Lilith...? Tetch seemed to be taking the longest to compliment. The woman feasted upon the white witch with all of her senses. But never before had she enjoyed the sweet sound of Lilith's voice like she did now. ?I've never heard a prettier sound in my life.? she whispered, bringing Lilith's attention to her and a faint blush.

?Heehee.? Lilith brought a few fingers up to her smile.

?Now. You must together bring to life... a bannnnd. Only then, will you return life to this well. Only then will the way out reopen. And junk.? the skeleton said.

Dyarhk

Tetch banged on a cymbal with a lying around femur.

?Alright, then. Maybe we should try and do something.? Dyarhk suggested, snapping off a pinky finger from one of the skeletal hands lying about and testing it out as a plectrum. A very deep and powerful grumble left the guitar when it was played upon. It made him stop what he had been doing to analyze the instrument's pickups, which were actually many tiny portals, and gaze into them.

What he saw was a seemingly nuclear-ravaged world with swirling toxic skies, and a pterodactyl and a large black dragon locked in immortal combat. ?Whoaaa. Tass? Is that you in there?? he quietly whispered.

?Dyarhk's right. If the skeleton's telling the truth ? ? Mage began before being interrupted.

?My name's Ignacio, you guys. Ignacio Calavera.? the skeleton interrupted.

?What kind of name is that for a skeleton?? Tetch asked.

?I wasn't always a skeleton, you know.? Ignacio said with a plain look, and without eyeballs, it sure was plain.

? ? Like I was saying,? Mage picked back up where he left off, ?Lilith, you're just going to have to start singing. Because your instrument is the only one for sure that sounds good, it's a good basis. The rest of us will just have to join in when it fells appropriate.? he examined the tambourine before shaking it a moment.

?What should I sing?? Lilith asked with the microphone held loosely, as if she were not the best person to be doing this.

?Sing that song you always sing to me.? Tetch suggested while finding a matching femur for her second drumstick.

?No!? Ignacio threw his skeletal arms up into the air. ?The song must not be copyrighted! If you sing a copyrighted song, then this well will flood with a thousand thousand buckets of plagiarist-crushing water. It is what happened to those who came ?before? you.? he pointed to the skeleton of some skeletons clothed in the garb of hiphop culture.

A grim look crossed over Dyarhk's features then. ?That's pretty important. Is there anything else you should tell us???

?I can't think of anything. But if I do, I'll be sure to let you know.? a bony little thumbs-up came.

Mage sighed with a great deal of worry.

?Lilith. Just close your eyes, and think about what matters to you the most in this world. And just let the words come out. And it would help if every now and then they rhymed.? Dyarhk said coming up to her in shirtless glory and placing a hand on her shoulder. Lilith was instantly comforted and motivated, nodding to him with prayer hands that clasped a microphone between them.

?Alright, you guys. I am going to start singing. Ready your instruments.? Lilith said, getting into a position of eye-closed preparedness. Dyarhk scampered back to his bone pile.

?Like our souls depended on it, Lilith!? Lilith took Mage's words as encouragement, but he really didn't want to die here.

?Um.

I spend long nights thinking just about you
And no matter how hard I try
to think about something else
It's always your pretty face I come back to,? Lilith began.

The first rhyme, even though it took three lines, got a cheer out of both Dyarhk and Mage.

?Yeah!? Dyarhk cheered with a fist in the air. When that hand came back down, he tried to incorporate a steady electric guitar rhythm. Mage assumed a beat on the tambourine that helped Tetch know how to begin keeping the pace of the lot of them.

?Yes! Yes! You're doing it!? Ignacio said, looking around over Tetch's shoulder. The ground seemed to be moving. Skeletons were beginning to reassemble and gain life again. Their first twistings of their heads turned toward the group playing music and their interest seemed to be almost immediate. A sort of suspicious interest. They would deliver their critiquing upon further evaluation from this.

?There have been others
Sure

But none who thrill me like you do
Move me like you do
Kiss me like
you do,? Lilith closed her eyes, deep in the passion of the music; something that surprised her fellow bandmates and ever-growing crowd reawakening from the dead. Tetch in particular was locked in a stupor, going so far as to manage to lose rhythm of her terribly easy drum line.

?There is
Only one love

Only one love
That's all I see
Only one love
In the whole wide world
Only one love
For me.? Lilith said to much applause, the first from the crowd.

?Yeah!? Dyarhk supported with another fist to the air. He looked so excited and happy. And it was okay, he could ride out the power chord with time enough to cheer on the White Witch.

?You got it, kids! Now seal the deal!? Ignacio said, pointing to the purple-swirling portal at the opening of the well which was beginning to reopen.

?O-oh-okay!? Lilith said, returning to her microphone.

?There is,
Only one love,? she sang.

?Only one love.? Dyarhk sang.
?Only one love.? Mage sang.
?Only one love.? Tetch sang, all in unison.

?That's all I see.? Lilith sang beautifully after her chorus.

?Only one love.? Dyarhk sang.
?Only one love.? Mage sang.
?Only one love.? Tetch sang.

?In the whole wide woo-oorld!? Lilith belted out.

?Only one love.? Dyarhk sang.
?Only one love.? Mage sang.

?Only one love
for me.? Lilith quietened and really reeled in the emotions.

?Only one love.? Dyarhk sang.
?Only one love.? Mage sang.

?Only one love
for me.? Lilith closed her eyes and muted herself by turning her emotional face away and dropping the mic down to her lap.

?Only one love
for me.? Dyarhk sang.
?Only one love
for me.? Mage sang.

The two men were collaborating for the ending, making sure their voices sounded together and quietened in a manual and effects-less sort of fade-to-black. With the addition to silence, the song had been over, and all the 'skellies' cheered.

?Alright! Yeah!? Dyarhk said, reaching his hand down to the skeletons beneath their bone mound and letting them touch his fingers.

?Hmm.? Mage quietly hummed. Indeed, the song had been awesome. But something was puzzling him. ?This is not the sound my vision detailed.?

?It seems the portal above is not yet open. I know that all of us down here are entrusted with letting a worthy band back out of the portal. And your band is worthy. No one's actually played a good song before. The problem is, everyone seems too thoroughly rocked to carry out their blood oaths.? Ignacio said looking over to his skeleton brethren, particularly the ones that were supposed to join hands at the top and fully open the portal.

Dyarhk

?Encore!?
?Encore!?
?Encore!?
?Encore!?
?Encore!?

?Encore!?
?Encore!?

?Encore!?
?Encore!?
?Encore!? they all chanted.

?Don't stop now, Lilith! We almost got the portal open!? Dyarhk said.

?I'm sorry,? Lilith shrugged with microphone in hand. ?One spontaneous song is all you're gonna get out of me right now. I am creatively drained.? wrist to forehead.

?Ah sh*t! Look! The portal's closing!? Tetch said standing up to point. Slowly did the purple light from above begin to weaken upon them until it was gone entirely.

?No!? Mage protested, banging the tambourine against the wall of bones.

?Ah well. You can't say it was a bad try. Well let me take you around and introduce you to everybody. I think Manny's renting out property over by the bucket, but you'll have to negotiate figures with him.? Ignacio said.

?No!? Dyarhk countered. ?This isn't where we spend the last of our fleshy days. We're getting out of here! And we're gonna rock your socks off again before we do it! Do you hear me?!? he said to the crowd and to hundreds of clanking bone arms flailing in the air. ?We just have to come up with one more song.? he said, massaging his chin thoughtfully.

?Yay!? a single skeleton cheered enthusiastically in the now silent crowd.

?Ugh. Whatever. But I'm giving my woman a f*cking kiss after that.? Tetch said, discarding her bone-drumsticks and standing to go over and give the Liltus mage a great big hug. Lilith accepted her with open arms, apologizing that she was having to ask her to be gentle since she was still so fatigued after that performance.

?Hmm.? Dyarhk said, gazing up. ?Time to get cracking, everyone. We've got a song to write.?

?Hmm?? Tetch turned a curious look at him; Lilith and understanding one. Mage was already hard at work at it with his cheeks gripped in thought.

Time began to slip by while the four sat by one of the wall-mounted torches. Mage had sat to the drums now and was playing them occasionally to try and come up with the gust that was going to give lift to any one of their basic ideas. No hope yet.

?This is getting us nowhere.? Tetch procrastinated. Lilith, by her side, frowned in sadness, ever eager to agree with her love.

?I never realized how complicated it was to write catchy lyrics and melodies.? Mage said. He didn't want to join the procrastinators, but he had to agree they were getting no place.

?Perhaps,? Lilith said, getting the attention of Ignacio from Tetch's shoulder. ?all we need is a meaningful subject we each have opinions about. Then we can contribute them in song form.?

?That's a great idea. It just might work, too.? Ignacio agreed.

?What do you think, Dyarhk?? Tetch asked.

The Palliator found himself unable to keep his fingers still. This was not normally a problem, not to the extent it was now, but he couldn't help but find himself playing on the Guitar of Defabrication even as he brainstormed. Like a magic tome that flooded all its knowledge into the mind of its holder just by flipping through the pages, he found he knew a plethora of songs in his head.

?This is cool.? he quickly answered.

?You guys better hurry. The skeletons are beginning to collapse again. The magic of the tambourine is beginning to fade. They can be reawaken, but crowd morale is an even harder thing to resurrect than the dead.? Ignacio said full of wisdom.

?We've got to do something.? Mage said.

?Techichi, my darling! Where are you going??? reaching out to the Siovanui woman, but she was well out of her reach. She had stepped up on a tall mound of bones and risen her fist into the air with a loud bark.

?HEY! Listen up, skellies!? Tetch shouted. All of the non-living looked up to gaze upon her with eyeless sockets and clinked and clacked their bones; the ones that had to turn. ?You bunch of conjoined toothpicks! Don't cover yourselves back up in the earth just yet! We'll have our song ready! And it will rock your joints off. Just give us fifteen more minutes.? she boasted with a cocky thumbs-up out at them.

?Techichi! You idiot! What are you getting us into!?? Mage shouted in protest, and Lilith just as quickly snapped at him.

?Don't speak to my Techichi in such a way! If she thinks all we need are fifteen minutes, then that is all we need. Perhaps your inferior imagination requires more time.? Lilith said.

Mage only growled. It wasn't because of the argument. It was because they were running out of time, and he hadn't yet seen what his future gaze showed him of them escaping. And like always, he had to keep it to himself or risk cracking the prediction, which it may have already been.

?Alright, then.? Dyarhk was done doodling on the instrument. ?It's time to get cracking.? Having gotten everyone's attention with that riff. ?Lilith... let's hear more about this idea of yours.?

A smile from the White Witch.

It was almost ?showtime.? The skellies were eagerly talking amongst one another. Those that had gotten up to the stage were talking there, and those that were in line were talking in line. This was the talk of the whole cursed well. One skeleton showed another his engraved tattoo on his arm. Another complained about the well's moshing history, and that he wouldn't be moshing this century. Besides, he didn't know the band, and he wasn't going to break any bones over a band he didn't know.

Ignacio was managing things like that of a bouncer.

Meanwhile, backstage...

?We are so not ready.? Tetch swelled tears in her eyes looking out at the expectant audience; expectant of the promise she had made.

?I hope you're proud of killing everybody.? Mage said, holding the tambourine.

?What was that?!?? Tetch turned to him and, instrument-less, made two fists ready to kill him.

?Guys!!? Dyarhk shouted, getting everyone's attention. ?I've got this. Mage. Give Tetch your tambourine. You get on the drums...?

?What?!? Mage shouted.
?What!?? Tetch shouted.

?I think you're much more cut out for the drums. Your playing on them earlier sounded really good. And Tetch can't really follow any sort of rhythm. We lucked up with an easy song the first time. But now, we're really gonna need to rock these dead guys.? a serious look came over Dyarhk's face.

?Just what are you up to, Dyarhk!? That's a pu*sy instrument!? Tetch protested.

?It is what you make it!? He fired back. ?Now listen. Mage is better on the drums than you. We all know it. What you have to decide is, does the tambourine make you? Or do you make the tambourine the most awesome instrument there ever was?? he said that last bit particularly heavy on the legend-teller's voice.

Tetch looked to Mage already settling himself in with her drums before locking her angry eyes back on Dyarhk. ?You realize if you're wrong we all die, don't you?? an almost growl.

?There's no time for second guessing. That doesn't write smash hits.? Dyarhk said while turning a tuning peg on his guitar's head stock.

?And it's time for the final show of the night! Ignacio began, ?Good or bad, it all happens in a few moments, since the netherspace will seal up forever! Without any further ado, please welcome,? the skeleton turned back to lean in to the band and whisper, What's your outfit's name??

?Mistress of Puppets!? Lilith spoke up before anyone else could, which was almost instantly. It seemed she'd had that in mind for quite a while, something her other bandmates found themselves realizing.

?Mistress of Puppets!? Ignacio completed his introduction, giving them the floor, and sidewalking off-stage. No applause was given. Only silence. The skeleton roadies set the torches to low and the stage became dark.

Torches ignited lit in-front of bowl-shaped pottery and projected attention centerstage; Lilith.

?Now is the time
the time for greatness
the time for all your efforts to shine
and to do your best

You're gonna reach the top
there's no time to stop
You're gonna find what
you're looking for
You're gonna touch the world

Everyone out there is gonna be
singing my name
singing my song
There's nobody out there who is gonna be
stopping me now
no matter how

Cause there's one thing that sets me
apart from the rest
makes me the best

This is not a copyright.? Lilith jerked away from the mic and gave way for a fresh new guitar riff to step into the light while she walked over to her Techichi looking uninterested with her tambourine.

The combination of the chorus and the catchy guitar riff that coincided with it told the audience of skellies that the song was truly awesome, and high up above, those infused with the wall there at the opening to the well began to join hands in enjoyment of the music and steadily open the portal.

Mage was laying into the drums and rolling with Dyarhk in a brotherly sort of union. The Palliator's newly 'cursed' fingers raced across the fretboard and teased the audience with the guitar solo that was to come, stopping short of going into one and lulling out on a few long note holds. He backed up. It was time for Lilith to step up once more.

?So it's on our way to mastering
We're gonna make an LP
We're gonna do our thing
The world's never gonna be the same
again

No one's ever done this before
Made such a revolutionary sound
The fans have never heard before
leave them wanting for more

Everyone out there is gonna be
singing my name
singing my song
There's nobody out there who is gonna be
stopping me now
no matter how

Cause there's one thing that sets me
apart from the rest
makes me the best

This is not a,? Lilith this time pulled a word early and slowed the whole band down. An interlude of sorts segued set to a much more mellower crowd-builder. Mage only occasionally hit his drums, and only when he wasn't tantalizing his cymbals with delicate drummings. Dyarhk had held up his guitar and gazed into the portals through his pickups and made his eye the moon again through their eyes.

?I need a sweet new sound. So if there's anything you can do for me...? he whispered before he brought the guitar back to droop at his lap where he wore it low. The dragon inside heard his 'prayer' and began beating his wings toward the moon and gateway that had stitched their two worlds. When he sounded onto the mellow scene, the notes were shrill and aquatic-sounding. Torches were now being held up in the audience and swayed along with the crowd. And the Mage began to pick up tempo. And then Dyarhk began to play notes a little faster.

It did not take long to figure out where things were heading. The crowd began a steadily growing cheer and it epitomized when Dyarhk and Mage's teasing ceased and all sound was paused from the band and just the sounds of the cheering skeletons rang out. Mage stood up with his drumstucks held high and crossed, and Dyarhk on his tiptoes with his pick hand in the air. Then they brought the first solo of the song.

The crowd morphed drastically. The torches were done away with and exchanged for some upheld crowd-surfing audience members. Drummer and guitarist were in full blown, high speed unison now, and with very little communication between the two. They didn't really need it. They played off of one another that well. And like any good thing, it left when they were still craving it. Lilith returned to the scene.

This is an original
composition.? Lilith had long been an admirer of her daughter's music. She'd sing some of her latest music in the bathroom and do a cute little fist-pump into the air; something she finally was able to demonstrate before a live-ish audience right then. This opened the way for the second guitar solo.

This one led in with peak strength and then segued into a trade-off between Dyarhk and Mage. The two faced each other, reading cues from each other, playing off each other. While this went on, Tetch decided it was time to up the ante. She took centerstage while Dyarhk stood up on the closest bone mound to Mage's drums and leaned in and out playing.

Tetch played the tambourine in claps to try and get the audience even more hyped up. But just what was she up to? The band hadn't strayed the skeletons wrong yet, so they gave her even more energy. After getting the sides and center amped properly, she held the tambourine in-between her legs while assuming a pose and then slow dance with her arms over her head.

She danced melodiously to the sounds of the guitar as she pulled her t-shirt up over her head exposing her navel and bra-strapped chest. Skeleton howls and cheers brought the well to an even louder party central. And as the guitar solo peaked, a skeleton's head was draped with a bra and the place went insane.

Nodding to Mage, Dyarhk segued the second solo into the familiar rhythm guitar once more, stepping off the bone mound that had united guitarist and drummer in that special bond. He'd confidently stomped over to Tetch and gone back to back with her, head to head, just in time to sing backing along with Lilith.

That was the main thing to take away from this performance. The walls were moving, spiraling into an arm-flailing wave that could make you nauseous if you weren't careful. And high above, the portal was nearly fully open. They'd almost done it.

Lilith was sealing the deal. Singing along with them, holding the microphone out to them, singing along with them again. And then she ended it. ?This is not a copyright.?

Silence.

An abundance of applause.

Dyarhk

Lilith, Tetch, Dyarhk and Mage all smiled brightly to one another. Not only had they done it, but they'd had fun! They rose their arms in thanks to the audience that had listened to and enjoyed them. But something seemed amiss! They were flooding the stage! Rushing over to the four of them, Ignacio's bouncing prowess was unable to suppress their fandom. They seized hold of them and pulled them out to the audience where they were lifted above everyone's heads. The congratulatory crowd-surfing.

But it would not stop there.

They were given to the walls who then began feeding the band back up the well and to the portal. Closer, trade-off by trade-off, they came to the portal. They were still too shocked to really absorb what was happening. Lilith looked down suddenly and called out to Ignacio from the height up the well.

?Ignacio! Thank you! Thank you for all your help! All of you! My adoring fans! I love you!?

The tiny skeleton, no more noticeable than his bony counterparts, seemed to call something up to them, but it would never be heard. As they reached the portal and were passed through it, the skeleton's blood oaths fulfilled, things became much more silent in a brief interstice of space. There the four sat, and with Tetch wearing a hand bra since she had lost out her shirt to the mercilessness of the crowd.

?Grabby skeletons.? she muttered.

?We did it. I can't believe it.? Mage murmured, pulling his sword, the All-killer, to himself, having just barely gotten it when he was grabbed.

?Of course we did!? Dyarhk said, punching his friendly-like on the arm. ?Didn't your future gaze tell you that? Hahah.?

?I think too many skeletons got to cop a feel.? Tetch said on the verge of a growl. But Lilith was there to soothe her.

?It is okay, my Ichi. It is all over now.? falling on her in her hug around her neck while she smiled so brightly. Tetch didn't know sometimes what she was going to do. This was one of those times, and one of those faces.

?Pretty soon we'll be back home.? Dyarhk sighed dreamily.

?What's the matter?? Mage asked, giving his

?Oh, nothing. It's just we don't know if these instruments are going to be coming back with us or not. I believe their power is too great. And besides, they need to remain for the next one-time band to rock that falls down that well.? Dyarhk explained.

?Mmm.? Tetch hummed in agreement as Mage gave his forest green cloak to her to cover up in.

?It is for the best, Dyarhk,? Lilith began, coming to a stand and holding a hand over her heart. ?Our world is not yet ready, not do I think it will ever be for these fetishes' power. It is proper they return to serve and aid the cause which they were fashioned for.? closing her eyes respectfully.

?You're right,? Dyarhk said up behind her, holding the guitar over her head. ?There's just one thing more thing I want to do with it.? draping the instrument around her with the guitar strap resting over her shoulder. The White Witch's eyes shot open with surprise as hundreds of incinerating strands of her robe began to soar up around her head.

A shrill scream filled the interstice of reality.

Finally, back in Adenna, Dyarhk and Mage walked side by side having resumed their walk to lunch as if nothing had happened, the former with a large pink handprint on one of his cheeks dimpled with a big smile.

?I still don't think that was necessary.? Mage said over to him, his eyes locked on the married couple ahead of them walking with each their capes on.

?No, Mage. It totally was.? Dyarhk laughed.

Arriving at Atae's, the four stumbled in as if they had just fought some sort of life and death battle.

?What in Nyijs happened to you four??? she asked.

?We will get you something to eat soon, my Ichi.? Lilith hushed in whispering, her one hand keeping the black cloak she had given Dyarhk tightly around her form, her other hand brushing Tetch's bangs favorably to one side on the walk to a place to sit.

?Not now, Atae.? Mage said with an aggravated expression, walking past her and over to a booth to join the two girls.

?We just played a concert for our souls to a bunch of undead in a magic well Erika had us banished to.? Dyarhk said entirely in passing.

A blank look came over the dance instructor's face as she removed pen from notepad and dropped both hands to her apron in surprise. ?Say what??

?Just..! Bring us some food, Atae.? Tetch said, bundling up in that cloak of Mage's like a blanket.
