((The Following was taken from a live play between Seiri and Vinny's players and myself. Any misrepresentations of the Bodhi Tree, staff, and other things are SURELY there, and more than apologized for. We just did this for fun, always liked the place, and *I* made the best of the material I could skim through over in those Zen Gardens informational threads! Thank you! And I hope you enjoy!))
Lunch at the Bodhi Tree
A rushing water sound being put through electronic filters and strangely, perhaps even, wired up to humpback whales powering it all. At least that was the sound, anyway, of a portal opening up in the market, and with the Palliator stepping through as the man who obviously seemed to disregard his age and dress like the youngsters with his bleached blue jeans and black dress shirt with a noticeable white undershirt.
He cast a hand up from that swarthy arm to shield the sun's rays from his eyes but not his tugged lip; a curious face while he discerned the weather and that portal remained open.
"Well! Come on through! Can you hear me from this end? I don't know... I don't like portals." he spoke to the thing.
Out came Seirichis head. ".. I *can* hear you." Lips curling into a smirk as she continued on. Moving out through the portal would come the loveable Seirichi. Her clothing style wasn't anything one would call `` feminine `` -- but no one could deny that the body kept hidden behind those jeans and simple t-shirt covered top could be anything but womanly.
"If they rub you the wrong way.. you could start going around on foot." Chest pushed forward as back gave an arch; all the while her hands placed themselves at her side. A laugh let loose. "But then it'd take you weeks to get anywhere!"
"Oh, I won't deny their usefulness." Dyarhk's simple response to her while he unfolded a pamphlet for the Zen Gardens. He loved all sorts of things pertaining inside of pamphlets: the little details, trivia facts, and so on. But what he was looking for right now was directions. A breeze came by and blew their hair gently. It made him look up.
"It's hard adjusting to the weather. Just through that portal there's snow on the ground." a look paid to it just as it was diminishing out of existence.
A huff left those lips. "I know, right? Try not to get sick..Last thing I need is for Corea to worry herself to an early grave." Arms crossed loosely under her bust as she stepped closer. Close enough to now push against Dyarhk's form to get a look at the pamphlet. "I like the snow better. It always brings out the best in what Adenna has to offer." Eyes scanning the useful information.. Or, at least attempting to pick out what could be useful to the Siovanui.
Dyarhk Fakes a sniff, a tell-tale sign of a cold.
"They do roll out all the carpets during the winter months, don't they." He moves his worked thumb over a spot on the map, crumples the pamphlet, and points out with the hand-devoured paper their direction. "Looks like we're going that way. I haven't been here before. I was scheduled to have lunch here with Kate back when she was running for governor, but scheduling conflicts came up. You may have been, though. I know Harris likes to eat here, so if you've ever gone off with him, chances are good you've been to the Bodhi Tree." he grinned and started on their walk; their walk into WestEnd.
"Only place i've been with Harris is that 24 hour pancake joint."
Peering up at the man with a raised eyebrow. "And you're making it sound like I hang around that guy all the time.. I might have to try and push him away from Mia, the last thing I need is for the both of them to gang up on me." Then a shake of her head followed as she looked ahead of themselves. "You know I don't do much around Rhy'Din.. So this is still a little new to me."
"Oh you don't, eh?" His own bit of acting to mimic her eyebrow look. "Well let me inform you, then. This is Rhydin's shady area. The thieves' hideout, the assassins' sanctuary, and the criminals safe haven. I try not to come here unless I have to. So I'm hoping this food is good enough to die for. Just saying, you may have to play bodyguard until we pass these..." he reads the pamphlet again to make sure he did not flub it up. " -- Fifteen foot bronze dog statues." He pocketed his hands into those youngsters' jeans, two big balled fists evidently showing from their already stretched wear over his large 6'4" figure. They passed by a very energy-lacking beggar Dyarhk paid little mind to.
".......... Great. I can never relax, huh?" Seirichi looked thrilled. No; really. This hadn't been a lie. Those lips curled back and formed into smirk as she marched poudly through the street. The air about herself just begging for someone to even try. "Let me guess. If you became governor, you would of done away with this place?" Eying the man now as she turned her body about and began back-walking in front of him. "March a good few men through and clean house?"
He honestly shrugged, but one could see he was in a fine, outstanding mood. "Never do decisions have more consequences and repercussions in your than when you are governor, or running for governor." And that was all he had to say about that.
They came to the entrance finally to the Zen Gardens, and Dyarhk stopped before the fifteen foot bronze dog statues and examined them. "Hm..." he paused and walked around one. "We must both be regarded as non-threatening... These things are supposed to come alive if there is any danger in the gardens, you know." an endearing hand reached out to touch one, but merely hovered respectfully over one of the dogs and was eventually recalled to his person.
Vinny had decided to go about heading around town, in order to sample some of the foods and see if any of the chefs needed to be liberated from their current enslavement and offered positions at the Ritz, complete with good pay, benefits, and exclusive contracts.
"......... That doesn't answer my question." But the subject was dropped.. even if Seirichi really did want an answer to her question. ".. Huh?" Eyebrow perked. Her interest set someplace else as she would now be looking to the bronze dog statues. ".. What, are they like Gods or something? Or just some magic." A wave of her wrist to show how she didn't really care either way. "I faced down Shiji Kumo. Why would I fear some dogs?"
"Probably just magic protectors. I'm sure they're not beyond coming to life to pull rank on some troublemakers. Luckily, we have our good behaviour faces on today." A simple breath, and he passed between them and into the Gardens.
As Vinny continued his meandering and tasting, his path brought him over to the Zen Gardens. And some familiar faces were spotted going in, ?Hmmm.....a chance to cause some trouble and try out a new place. This will make a good start for the day.?
Dyarhk's expansive back shown to Seiri briefly while he again consulted the booklet he was given for Zen Gardens' first-timers. His fine black boots took handsome stance, as did his legs showing all their figure and muscle as they wrapped around them probably a little too snug for public decency. Oblivious to the world around him, as was a skill he could display when he needed to make sure not to end up lost, or in the wrong place. "Just where the devil is this Bodhi Tree..." he said fairly aloud.
"Pfft.." She'd follow behind; but did give pause to look up at one of the statues once more as she stood between them. "......" Lips pursed and a brow cocked. With that, she'd push a fist out to give a gentle punch to it before continuing to follow.
"Just ask someone.. or yell out for directions. Yelling always works."
"Like that will work, Seiri. I'll even entertain that." he smiled. "Does anyone know where the Bodhi Tree is??" loud, just to show her this plan seldom worked.
"You're just doing it wrong. Bark it out like it's an order." Rolling her eyes.
It wasn't intentional (right, and the sun sets in the east), but he walked up behind them in near silence before giving a tap on Dyarhk's shoulder. ?Normally, it's more polite to ask a particular person, instead of just shouting it out there.?
Surprised, the man looked over the shoulder that did not show Vinny comfortably, and so he swapped shoulders rather quickly before turning to face the man altogether with a big smile. "Vinny! Vinny Smith!"
Seirichi rose a brow and gave a small look over her shoulder. Slowly, she turned about to face the newcomer while arms crossed. "...." Sizing him up.
"Out and about and beating the lunch lines before they start. I knew you were smart, but-- " shaking a finger at him while his smile grew. "Seiri, this is Vinny. You like the Magic duels, yes? Well he's the GrandMaster! Or, whatever their champion is, I'm not sure..."
?Right the first time, on both accounts.? giving a nod to both him and Seiri. ?Archmage. But we'll see if I can still be called that at the end of the week. It's about time for me to defend.?
Half-assed, literally, Dyarhk pushed that booklet with the tiny map to the Zen Gardens and around it, into his back pocket loosely. "Vinny. We were just about to have lunch. Would uh-- " he looked to Seiri, very quickly, very briefly interrupting his flow of words. It was with a quick look and look returned he could ask Seiri if he could accompany them along their quest of hunger-answering. "--you like to join us for lunch?"
?If neither of you mind, sure.? a glance given to Seiri. He was smart enough to know that the decision was ultimately hers. ?I'd been meaning to try this place out. Something for Elena and I to come visit possibly in the future.?
"A title you don't defend is never worth having." A shrugging of her shoulders. Then Dyarhk had to be himself and extend a friendly gesture. Not that the Siovanui had any problem with it. "You're from around here, right? You know where this joint's at? Uh.." She seemed a little loss for words. Brows furrowed at the thought of it.. but then a look to Dyarhk. "What's the place called?"
"Vinny, this is Seiri. She's awesome. She comes from a city of warriors, and I think you two will get along just fine, since I'm no small guy, and I can't even make a worthwhile attempt at beating you in a duel, my friend." placing a hand on Vinny's shoulder and bringing him to the front of the troop with them where they were deciding how to get to the cafe.
"I've been meaning to try it out as well... The place is called the Bodhi Tree, Seiri... Supposed to be very good, and very authentic Indian food. I hear good things." Dyarhk quietly says those last words, endearingly.
"If it's got meat I'll eat it." her eyes found Vinny once more in a sort of stare.
A little bow as he was formally introduced to Seiri. ?Nice to formally be acquainted with you. I've seen you around the duels a bit, when I'm able to get out of work and relax.?
"Relaxation's verrry important." Dyarhk is studying the directions very intently.
A little twinge of a smile forming at the corner of his lip as he meets that stare head on for a moment before turning and pointing to a spot. It's over that way. And if you want something with meat, may I suggest something curry related? I've yet to find a curry dish that I didn't like.?
"Curry!" the big man's big arm slowly brings a fist up to punch the sky.
Seirichi gave a small bow of the head, or more like a nod, in response. "I don't think I've ever seen you." Head turned to look in the direction they had started. Squinting those eyes in an attempt to get a better, more focused look. ".. Meat's meat." The Siovanui began to follow.
Inside the building, Dyarhk gave a look around with that tossed head of short black hair. He was looking for a shop's interior in the immediate doors they were presented to resemble the one in the brochure. Before too long, one of the doorways just clicked with their search parameters. He stepped in, and the moment they were given their 'Welcome,' he knew they were in the right place.
?How many in your partee?? asked in an accent Dyarhk was all too unfamiliar with. But he loved hearing new cultures and meeting new people.
"Three, Miss."
"This way, pleese." the woman lifted three menus from behind her little please-wait-to-be-seated-here podium. A hand gesture, and she was leading them to a large booth at the back wall.
Vinny wore a mock look of surprise to Seiri. ?I hope you've at least heard of me. If not, I need to fire my PR department.? following along with them as they entered. Once inside, his mind went into business mode as he started picking apart all aspects of the place, filing it in the back of his mind for breakdown and analysis later.
Dyarhk, normally a mannered man, mixed it up and went on first and with his hands back in his jean pockets, looking around the place not unlike Vinny as he did so. Though, when he did get to the table, he offered Seiri the inside, curious as to where she wanted to sit. SOMEBODY was going to be sitting next to somebody! Oh, how booths worked.
Dyarhk sniffed, and gave a slow look around, a slow grin forming. "Well.... I wasn't truly hungry until I actually entered."
"Don't get the wrong idea. I don't read much from Rhy'Din. I only pay attention to the bulletin boards when I know my name will be on them." Seirichi looked about as well. This whole place, the culture, it was all a bit new to her as well. "Go ahead and sit." Motioning to the two as she stepped about and gave the place a better look.
Over at the bar with the break in the wall that showed the kitchen work being performed, there was a lone cook, and she looked to have the expertise for the job, alright. Anisha Khatkhate was her name, Dyarhk put together, what from the biography on the brochure, she had to be her. She worked her hands busily, where they could not be seen, unlike her upper-body, hair-net, and determined facial expression.
Vinny took the side opposite from Dyarhk, sliding in and getting himself comfortable. ?One should always be hungry for something, even if it isn't food. It's what keeps things moving forward.?
"Thank you." quietly to Seiri as Dyarhk slipped in, opposite from Vinny, and wiggled himself comfortably against the smooth cushioning looking very breathable. His two made fists helped him perform this little dance before he sat those swarthy-shining forearms on the table and accepted the first of the three menus by the time they were all seated.
Lunch at the Bodhi Tree
