Morning Glory

?I dun wanna!? The cries of the littlest Taneth rang out through the cottage now being shared by the small blonde and Morning Glory. The girl absolutely refused to wash any of the dirt off of herself or get dressed in anything resembling decent clothing. She was determined to stay in a hoodie that the true Taneth had somehow and at some point had stolen from one Salvador Delahada.

?Please? What if we have a visitor and they don?t care for the smell of?.? Morning Glory could not even decide what the little Taneth smelled like. All she knew was the girl had been out in the forest for a very long time and when she returned she smelled of the dirt, of nature, and something else. Something Glory did not care for unlike dirt and nature, which is what she was used to after living most of her life as one of the garden flowers.

?No.? The chin of the small Taneth rose in defiance and some air of superiority over the older blonde girl.

?Kitten?? Morning Glory began as she reached out with a wet wash cloth, but then stopped when the little Taneth interjected with a point.

?Don?t you call me Kitten! Only Benji can call me that!? The little Taneth swung her finger around. ?You say my name. Say Taneth.? The challenge was made and the battle had begun. Mortal Kombat of a Taneth variety.

Morning Glory lifted her own chin and her eyes narrowed at the command. ?No. I will not use that name.? She could not use the given name of the gardener. Not yet.

?I will send you outside again and not let you in.? A threat that had been used at least twice since they started living in the cottage.

?I don?t mind the outdoors.? Morning Glory had lived her life as a flower. She could live in nature and be completely content. She had been content.

The littlest Taneth stomped her feet as the words did not cause the reaction she wanted. The hurt the little blonde felt was deep as she was incredibly angry and wanted to shock and cause someone else the bit of hurt she felt. ?It?s your fault she?s gone and we?re here! You did it!? Her finger jabbed the air at Glory.

Morning Glory stiffened her spine and ducked her head a moment to control the pang she felt in her heart. The words struck true to her. She felt the guilt as she replied softly, ?I didn?t ask for her to do it. I had been happy as I was.? She had been perfectly happy as a flower in Taneth?s garden because she had been cared for, loved, and at peace with the sweet, beautiful nature around her instead of being faced with an angry little Taneth and people who had grown attached to the gardener.

?But she did it for you! She left me here for you! She made it so I can?t leave for you!? The tone of the little Taneth?s voice said more than her words did. The true Taneth had loved Morning Glory so much more than her own self that she sacrificed everything to bring her back to a human life. She loved Morning Glory more than she loved herself, the one she left behind and confined to the land of Taneth.

Morning Glory sat back on the floor and sighed because she did not have an argument to battle the little Taneth with. She set the wet washcloth on her knee, uncaring that she will end up with soaked jeans. She knew the little one was broken hearted, hurt, and feeling anxiety from being separated from her true self. ?I?m sorry,? Morning Glory said softly. ?I would undo all of it if I could.? But she could not change what Taneth had done. No one could change what Taneth had done because it happened on Taneth?s land, just as she always planned it would.

The soft words from Glory weakened the anger of the little one, who eventually ran to climb into Glory?s lap and wrap her arms about the older blonde. ?I?m sorry too.? She pressed her face into the chest of Glory as she cried. She missed herself. She missed her freedom. She missed all the things that had made her happy. ?Why?? The little one knew why, but she could not bear to face the truth of the matter.

Morning Glory pet the blonde curls of the little Taneth before she wrapped her arms about her. ?She was so sad. Her heart has been wounded so much over time that she didn?t know how to make it feel better except for this.?

?Why didn?t she take me with her?? A tender part of the heart was abandoned.

?You know why.? Glory tried to soothe a wounded little blonde.

?To remember and guide.? Such a task for a child, even one that was essentially a piece of the bigger Taneth. ?No sprouts are growing. I can?t feel her. She just sinks deeper into the dirt. I can?t find her.?

Morning Glory noted the dirt again. So?the little Taneth had probably been out trying to dig for her older self. She had been trying to find herself again. And every day the two blondes went out to the burial site of the Taneth and added more memorabilia and spoke of what each saw and did throughout the day. They spoke of the people Taneth cared for and the places she had seen while in Rhydin. Yet, each day that passed and neither saw sprouts the more the little Taneth began to become more anxious.

?Sprouts will grow one day, little one. She just needs to be ready. Perhaps she is waiting for us to be ready,? Morning Glory said softly as she picked up the washcloth and began to wipe the grime from one of the little blonde?s arms. ?How about a bath then we can set up the treehouse for a nighttime party? I picked up new food from the market.? She needed to appease the little heart left behind from Taneth. She needed to be the big sister to the little sister.
