Dear Glory,

By now you have probably realized that I have gone to ground. I kept my promise to your grandmother by bringing you from the garden into the waking world, but at a great toll to me. I do not want you to fret over what has happened as it was not just you but this deep sense of heartache that I feel. As the crack in my heart deepened, so too did hurt and pain. I needed to be here where I am safe, where I am protected, and where I can find my strength and self again. Be strong and do not forget you are loved forever and always.

In this book are notes I have made over time about people I have met, places I have seen, and other bits of information you may need to become accustomed to Rhydin. Some people will treat you differently, some will be wary of you, and some will simply be mean but do not worry about them. Let your attentions stay towards the people who you want to know, be friends with, and who will care about you as much as you might care about them. Some might be angry or upset that I am gone, but they will come to understand in time.
