In order to truly be one of us, your convictions must be proven.. Are you prepared?" Azrakiel whispered.
The green-eyed twi?lek, a student of sorts, answered confidently, "Yes, Master."
"There are four gates in which you must traverse. Falter in just one and you will fall into the Abyss you are trying to control," he quietly explained. "Within the wilds of Dantooine, there are the ruins of one of the great Jedi Temples. You will go there with your sister and speak to the one there. His darkness will draw you to him."
Dawnstar regarded Azrakiel in silence and nodded once.
"You will complete the series of tasks that he sets before you, otherwise you will not be worthy of my teachings. The fool thinks I favor him, yet I have sent him there for this very purpose. In this you will have proven your worth, as I have created something that you must earn once your tasks are finished. Go now and do not fail me ? either of you," Azrakiel whispered, looking coolly from one twi?lek to the other.
Dawnstar bowed her head to her Master, vowing not to fail him.
? On Dantooine?
Past the flickering fire of torches and the spangled gleam of starlight, Dawnstar could see the looming shadow of some great edifice. She clearly felt a draw of the Force - but it was not entirely what she expected. Lekku phrasing a wordless question, she turned to Daydream, who frowned.
:Something is not as it should be here. I sense something. . .: Daydream motioned for Dawnstar to remain silent as they moved forward. They heard a male voice, speaking in a practiced drawl common to those instructing tired but earnest students.
"--it was brought in when blasters became more used in the galaxy and there were rarely any Sith.... it is used to defend against blaster fire primarily, it is viewed as the ultimate defense..."
Dawnstar' blinked in surprise, focusing on the two figures that stood there. One was older, a bearded, brown-haired man clad in archaic Jedi robes, and the other was obviously his apprentice.
The Jedi continued speaking, apparently oblivious to their presence. "Form Five is Ataru, a very athletic lightsaber form... if you ever saw any records of Master Yoda, he utilized this form quite well, it fit in with his size. It's viewed as a more agressive form..."
He went on to explain the seven basic lightsaber forms to his apprentice. Smirking at the education, Dawnstar turned to Daydream, the tips of her lekku wriggling: :Perhaps one of those two over there dispatched the fellow we seek.:
:The older human is called Kahn' Malace: Daydream commented in Lekku, frowning. :I do not know the name of his little apprentice. She suspected that this bit of misdirection was part of Azrakiel's test.
"It is a proficient form, stay with it if you choose, I am merely letting you know of the different styles of using a lightsaber." Kahn said, and his apprentice demurred that his chosen form had protected him so far.
"What Force techniques has your previous master taught you, Richee?" the Jedi asked, yet unaware of the two Twi?lek cloaked and watching. The apprentice, apparently named Richee, murmured something appropriately respectful and began a disjointed, tedious explanation of the instruction received from his previous master.
Dawnstar looked at the night sky, brooding. Beyond and behind her expression of patience was a hint of barely-bridled frustration and annoyance. "Listen to them prattle on," she whispered to Daydream. She fell silent as Azrakiel appeared out of the shadows and stared at the Jedi and apprentice.
Kahn Malace held up his hand, silencing his apprentice. "Hold on," he said, "it seems we have company." He glanced to his side and turned toward Azrakiel. "Something I can help you with?" he asked.
Daydream glanced sidelong at Azrakiel and stepped forward into a bit of light. Dawnstar followed, remaining behind the two out of deference to their experience.
Richee said,"Quite a bit of company by the looks of it, Master."
"Very few people come here," Azrakiel said to Kahn. His voice was barely above a whisper. "What happened to the man near this fire..."
The Jedi and his apprentice remained stubbornly silent. Dawnstar stared evenly them, acutely aware of the sickening tremor of fear that the human apprentice bravely tried to suppress, in imitation of his Master?s calm. Kahn? eyed the opposing trio calmly, focusing on them in the Force.
Daydream looked over the Jedi appraisingly, and Azrakiel smiled, letting the Dark side of the Force flow in response. "Now...," Azrakiel whispered, "it seems that only a certain type of person would come here... What happened to the man that was here? He was bound to my purpose."
Ignoring Azrakiel, Kahn turned to Richee and began whispering furiously. Daydream glanced towards the human apprentice, letting her gaze settle into an intent stare.
Dawnstar murmured toward Azrakiel, "He seems reluctant to speak, Master."
"Patience..," Azrakiel responded. "Even for us it is paramount."
Kahn' Malace continued whispering to Richee, glancing at Azrakiel and Daydream from time to time. Eventually, the Jedi apprentice nodded, and the two stepped apart.
"Well," smiled the Jedi. "I trust that's enough we've learned at this site."
