In order to truly be one of us, your convictions must be proven.. Are you prepared?" Azrakiel whispered.

The green-eyed twi?lek, a student of sorts, answered confidently, "Yes, Master."

"There are four gates in which you must traverse. Falter in just one and you will fall into the Abyss you are trying to control," he quietly explained. "Within the wilds of Dantooine, there are the ruins of one of the great Jedi Temples. You will go there with your sister and speak to the one there. His darkness will draw you to him."

Dawnstar regarded Azrakiel in silence and nodded once.

"You will complete the series of tasks that he sets before you, otherwise you will not be worthy of my teachings. The fool thinks I favor him, yet I have sent him there for this very purpose. In this you will have proven your worth, as I have created something that you must earn once your tasks are finished. Go now and do not fail me ? either of you," Azrakiel whispered, looking coolly from one twi?lek to the other.

Dawnstar bowed her head to her Master, vowing not to fail him.

? On Dantooine?

Past the flickering fire of torches and the spangled gleam of starlight, Dawnstar could see the looming shadow of some great edifice. She clearly felt a draw of the Force - but it was not entirely what she expected. Lekku phrasing a wordless question, she turned to Daydream, who frowned.

:Something is not as it should be here. I sense something. . .: Daydream motioned for Dawnstar to remain silent as they moved forward. They heard a male voice, speaking in a practiced drawl common to those instructing tired but earnest students.

"--it was brought in when blasters became more used in the galaxy and there were rarely any Sith.... it is used to defend against blaster fire primarily, it is viewed as the ultimate defense..."

Dawnstar' blinked in surprise, focusing on the two figures that stood there. One was older, a bearded, brown-haired man clad in archaic Jedi robes, and the other was obviously his apprentice.

The Jedi continued speaking, apparently oblivious to their presence. "Form Five is Ataru, a very athletic lightsaber form... if you ever saw any records of Master Yoda, he utilized this form quite well, it fit in with his size. It's viewed as a more agressive form..."

He went on to explain the seven basic lightsaber forms to his apprentice. Smirking at the education, Dawnstar turned to Daydream, the tips of her lekku wriggling: :Perhaps one of those two over there dispatched the fellow we seek.:

:The older human is called Kahn' Malace: Daydream commented in Lekku, frowning. :I do not know the name of his little apprentice. She suspected that this bit of misdirection was part of Azrakiel's test.

"It is a proficient form, stay with it if you choose, I am merely letting you know of the different styles of using a lightsaber." Kahn said, and his apprentice demurred that his chosen form had protected him so far.

"What Force techniques has your previous master taught you, Richee?" the Jedi asked, yet unaware of the two Twi?lek cloaked and watching. The apprentice, apparently named Richee, murmured something appropriately respectful and began a disjointed, tedious explanation of the instruction received from his previous master.

Dawnstar looked at the night sky, brooding. Beyond and behind her expression of patience was a hint of barely-bridled frustration and annoyance. "Listen to them prattle on," she whispered to Daydream. She fell silent as Azrakiel appeared out of the shadows and stared at the Jedi and apprentice.

Kahn Malace held up his hand, silencing his apprentice. "Hold on," he said, "it seems we have company." He glanced to his side and turned toward Azrakiel. "Something I can help you with?" he asked.

Daydream glanced sidelong at Azrakiel and stepped forward into a bit of light. Dawnstar followed, remaining behind the two out of deference to their experience.

Richee said,"Quite a bit of company by the looks of it, Master."

"Very few people come here," Azrakiel said to Kahn. His voice was barely above a whisper. "What happened to the man near this fire..."

The Jedi and his apprentice remained stubbornly silent. Dawnstar stared evenly them, acutely aware of the sickening tremor of fear that the human apprentice bravely tried to suppress, in imitation of his Master?s calm. Kahn? eyed the opposing trio calmly, focusing on them in the Force.

Daydream looked over the Jedi appraisingly, and Azrakiel smiled, letting the Dark side of the Force flow in response. "Now...," Azrakiel whispered, "it seems that only a certain type of person would come here... What happened to the man that was here? He was bound to my purpose."

Ignoring Azrakiel, Kahn turned to Richee and began whispering furiously. Daydream glanced towards the human apprentice, letting her gaze settle into an intent stare.

Dawnstar murmured toward Azrakiel, "He seems reluctant to speak, Master."

"Patience..," Azrakiel responded. "Even for us it is paramount."

Kahn' Malace continued whispering to Richee, glancing at Azrakiel and Daydream from time to time. Eventually, the Jedi apprentice nodded, and the two stepped apart.

"Well," smiled the Jedi. "I trust that's enough we've learned at this site."

Azrakiel casually caressed the pommel of his saber at his waist. "Then run like the rest of your order. I can smell the stink of peace upon your flesh.."

Daydream tucked her hands into her sleeves, still watching Kahn' with all the cold, patient intent of a predator waiting for its prey to make a misstep.

"Something you need?", the Jedi asked Daydream, unnerved by the petite Twi?lek?s poise.

She retorted in an acerbic tone, "Do you think you have something we want?"

"Will you not treat with me Jedi? Or will you wait until the Emperor comes hunting..." Azrakiel offered in a silken whisper.

Kahn shuddered and turned away from Azrakiel, apparently preferring to look at the petite twi'lek. He said to Daydream, "I know not if I have something you want... Your intentions are unknown of course..."

"So much for the "There is no ignorance" part of your credo," Daydream commented impassively.

Azrakiel extended his fingertips in a casual gesture to the young apprentice on Kahn's side with a faint smile. The youth?s fingers moved to his throat, feeling the life being choked from him. He tried futilely to loosen the invisible grip around his throat. Dawnstar' remained silent, watching rather avidly and intensely focused. Learning.

"Peace is a lie afterall," suggested Azrakiel quietly as the young human started trying to cough, desperate for air..

"Let him go," the Jedi Master demanded.

"No, I think not," whispered Azrakiel.

Kahn said, "I wasn't asking."

Azrakiel whispered, "Then enforce it..."

"If it is so required....", Kahn said calmly. He extended his hand toward Azrakiel, intent on knocking him down with a rush of Force energy. Richee struggled for air for a few moments longer, then gasped with relief as Azrakiel staggered and nearly fell back, releasing his grip on the apprentice. Kahn? grimly unclipped his saber from his belt and ignited it, holding it at the ready. Azrakiel responded by drawing his own saber.

The duel between Jedi and Sith Masters was short, though the two were evenly matched. The apprentices observed quietly: Dawnstar, in silent confidence while Richee, the young human, was sweating nervously. At one point, Azrakiel glanced meaningfully at the two twi?lek, then seemingly deliberately left an opening in his guard, surrounded by a surge of energy from the Dark side of the Force. With a savage grin, Kahn? immediately leapt at that offered opening, dealing what was certainly a fatal blow. Azrakiel collapsed to the ground.

Dawnstar stood, briefly looking stunned before an _expression of anger colored her features. Daydream knelt near Azrakiel, touched his brow, then glared up at Kahn' and his apprentice, marking his face. "I will remember you both, surely," she hissed.

"I have no need to slay any of you," remarked Kahn as he clipped his saber back to his belt.

"Your anger serves you well, human," Daydream commented flatly. She heard Azrakiel?s voice whispering in her thoughts with an echo of horrific laughter: :You know that a true Sith never dies. I will await you at Dawn, deal with it as you see fit: Day responded with a thought of wordless assent, and closed her eyes as Azrakiel?s body faded and disappeared.

The Jedi said, "If I had anger, you wouldn't still be here. I have no wish to cause any further injuries to any of you..."

"Then you may leave." Day said curtly.

"Further injuries? Oh, I think you desire that." Dawnstar said softly. She stepped close to the Jedi apprentice then, sensing his trepidation and the growing frustration of the Jedi Master.

Kahn? ignored Dawnstar?s goading and addressed Day instead, saying, "I will stay...for I am here to teach..."

Day retorted quietly, "Then I must assume malice in your teaching, and find great amusement."

Daydream turns to study Dawnstar, noticing her hand near her lightsaber and the controlled rage in her stance. She smirked faintly.

"Perhaps we should test your teachings?" Dawnstar asked, addressing Richee. The young human shook his head mutely.

"If you speak with intent to harm my apprentice, I won't have it," Kahn blustered. Dawnstar looked at him then and snidely remarked that his apprentice would never truly learn unless he was baptized by fire.

As Kahn peered curiously at her, Daydream leaned close to Richee, whispering coldly, "I trust the lesson of the strength of violence will not be lost on you, youngling." She smiled over her shoulder at Kahn, then strode off into the darkness.
