I was frustrated today, because I?d somehow lost half a page of descriptive writing. It had taken me almost an hour to nail down some details about Rhilshen?s Long Road earlier in the week, and while I was sure I had saved it, obviously I didn?t. Grrr. Stupid me. I was too irritated with myself to start over on that bit of writing again, so I opened up my chat log archive folder, turned to my twin and asked, ?What should I search for??

Reading through chat logs from ten years ago is always good for a laugh. I spent a very illuminating hour last night going through some old chat logs, trying to figure out just how the hell Alysia Skye knew Jodiah Ayreg from years past. Actually, I spent more time cringing and snickering than reading. Did I actually write that stuff? Oh, gawd that?s awful.

Anyway. I asked Lil, with whom I work, what I should search for. I was willing to accept any random idea. A screen name, a goofy moniker, a guild tag, an item. Anything. It would all be ancient history.

?Uh. . . Meat grinder,? she temporized. ?Or lobster fork. But I really don?t think you you?ll have any logs with ?meat grinder? in them.?

?Nah,? I snickered. ?I?m sure I will.?

?Nah. You probably won?t.? My twin sounded doubtful.

I started the search. The results scrolled down the screen of my laptop. We spent a half hour skimming through them, and the idea for this folder was born.

It?s good to spend most of your lunch break in laughter.
