It had been nearly a month since Kali had made her escape out of the realms of her father, and moved to be closer to her sisters. She was adjusting well to life in Rhydin, she was getting used to being an oddity in these parts. And had even met a nice man who helped her understand the way things were in these parts. A man who also managed to away with her heart.

Valentines day had always come and gone without a single worry from Kalista. She never had any reason to care about it. The whole holiday had seemed trivial and unappealing to her. But as she woke up and rolled over in her bed a pout came to her lip. She could have sworn she had fallen asleep with her stalker by her side. Sadly he wasnt there. Her dreams having played a cruel trick on her. Her arm reaching over to draw the pillow into a hug, she heard a rustling of paper. Opening both eyes she reached out for the object. A piece of paper folded into an airplane. She rolled over onto her stomache and made little plane noises as she soared it around the bed. She hadnt been dreaming at all he had been here last night. And they had infact fallen asleep together.

Leaning up she noticed a few letters visible on the place and very carefully she unfolded the paper airplane. It took her several times to read it all the way through because her eyes misted each time before she even hit the second stanza. She clung to the note and smiled brightly. Slowly getting out of bed she walked over to a small mahogany box. She opened the box, its contents consisting of the first note, one of the flowers and the picture of the stars. She carefully refolded the note into an airplane and set it down gingerly ontop of the other gifts. She quickly showered and dressed. Bothering Lana until she helped tie her into her corset. And getting her cloak around her she made her way to meet Stalker at the market.

Stalker was shaking his head at himself. He had absolutely no idea what to get Kali. He was so Love Struck with her that it took until now, when he was shopping for a Valentines Day present, to realize he had absolutely no idea what she liked. He sighed and kept moving around the Market. He also wished she was there. He loved the feel of her next to him, her soft hands hold his or touching his face.

"Oh man, Stalker, you definitely got it bad this time" he chuckled at himself.

Stalker had run home and showered and changed. He was wearing a red dress shirt, black slacks, a nicer black flight jacket that he saved for special occasions, dress black flight boots. He had his blaster on his thigh. He thought about putting it in his shoulder harness but that would feel awkward when he hugged Kali.

After 3 hours of looking through stores, he finally found it. A gold necklace that looked as beautiful as Kali with a locket that was shaped like two hearts, one over lapping the other about halfway. The "top" heart was gold and the bottom was silver with the gold heart sitting about a quarter of the way above the silver heart. Stalker had it engraved inside the cover, saying "With all my heart, I will always love you" and signed with his name. He fell for Kali very hard. He knew, in the back of his mind, he was setting himself up for a huge crash and burn. That didn't seem to matter, though.

With the locket in a jewelry box and gift wrapped, Stalker moved off in search of something to eat. Now that his stomach was calmed down from looking for a gift, it was punishing him for not eating. He found a little cafe and ordered a breakfast cake and a water. As he waited, he was daydreaming, trying to picture Kali's reaction when he gave the present to her. Would she be mad that he had left? Would she be mad that he had left a note for her and didn't curl up in bed alongside her?

He chuckled at himself. She was so proper that she'd probably would have been more upset with him if he had curled up next to her. He just wanted to be with her right now. He decided that, after he ate, he would go to her. Hopefully, he would find her at home.

The food finally came and he started eating, slowly, distractedly. Stalker couldn't help but think about Kali. He knew it was silly but, he missed her being near him.

There was a click of her tongue as she walked down the stairs of the treehouse. A bright smiled as Alana's bay trotted over to her. Sugar cubes were pulled from her pocket and slowly she offered them to her. Mounting the animal Kali of course sat side saddle. When she coaxed the animal into a trot it was no suprise that Kali turned her towards the market. The day wasnt the best for riding but it was certainly worth the trip she was making. She missed him something fierce and it forced her into a hastened pace.

Arriving at the Market she brought lillian to the stables and handed over a few coins to the young boy tending the stalls. She smiled to him and bowed her head never saying a word.

She wandered up and down the streets looking into shop windows and peering at the goods inside. It was begining to upset her that she didnt know what to get him. It was then that she walked past the shop where he sat and ate, she didnt look up, she was looking across the street to a leather vendor. It was the pulse that alerted him that he was there.

Oh no. She thought to herself. Torn between wanting to rush in and see him and feeling guilty for not having anything for him yet. Another heavy sigh and she was slipping past him and into the silver smith shop. It was there that she stopped short as her fingers slipped over a bit of smooth metal. Dogtags. She smiled brightly and took a set down. Bringing them to the counter she wrote down what she wanted them to say. She filled out the date, and their names on the first tag, on the second tag she wrote. "If you were the rain, Id wish to be the earth so I could embrace you and all that you are." She was melting there just thinking about him. As soon as she had been handed the tags they were paid for and she made her way out.

Making a B-Line right to the shop she felt the pulse before she entered. She stood there in the doorway in awe for a moment watching him. A bright smiled crossed her bubblegum colored lips as she cleared her throat and spoke of the seat across from him.

"Is this seat taken sir?"

Stalker blinked in surprise. He must have been daydreaming. As long as he didn't do that in Starfire's cockpit, he wasn't going to worry about it. He blinked and smiled broadly at Kali. It was a pleasant surprise.

"Why, yes, I"m afraid so." He gave her a mock frown. He was struggling to keep a straight face. He had placed Kali's present in the middle of the table while he at. "This package is for the person that is to sit there. Perhaps this was meant for you?" He looked at her. A card in an enveloppe had adorned the top of the gift. It was addressed to "My Sweet Kali".

Stalker watched her, having trouble playing it straight. He was pretty sure he was failing miserably but since he hadn't laughed at himself, he was going to see it through.

Slipping into the seat across from him she smiled brightly and canted her head to one side. She lifted the card from the top of the gift and opened it. She read it and smiled looking back to him. Slipping the card back into its envelope. Fingers gingerly slipped towards the present and slowly and carefully unwrapping it she set the flat wrapping next to the box she eyed it, it was a jewelery box. Gloved fingers gently pulled open the box and she gasped. Her eyes alight with suprise as she touched the locket with a gloved fingertip.

She didnt speak, just stared at it with a happy smile. She didnt know what to say. But she did know she wasnt going to be giving him the dogtags. Maybe she would make him a romantic dinner so they could picnic by the lake. Her gift just seemed too stupid compared to his. Flipping over the locket she read the inscription and her eyes welled up. Looking up to him she just smiled through a short stream of tears. She choked on her words but managed them.

"I...I love it...Its beautiful."

Stalker's heart seemed to skip a beat. He was glad it was obvious she was happy with the gift. He let out a breath he hadn't realized he was holding. He stood up and moved over to Kali. He gave her a quick kiss and whispered in her ear, "Happy Valentine's Day, Honey."

He reached out and gently took the locket and gold necklace from her and moved to put it around her lovely neck. He fumbled with the clasp a little. His fingers were slender for a guy's hands but there were still very much a guys hands. His fingers were too fat for the necklace clasp. The tab for the clasp slipped under his thumb nail a couple of times. Once he had it around her neck, he sat down next to her. He motioned for a waitress to bring her a glass of water and a slice of the same breakfast cake he had ordered.

Stalker moved his chair as close to Kali's as he could get. He wasn't concerned in the slightest if she had gotten him anything. Just as long as she was happy. He gave her a hug and placed a hand on her arm, giving her a smile. "Did you sleep well, Honey?"

"Happy Valentines day to you too darling."

As he fiddled with the clasp she took the chance to take in a deep breath of his scent. It was something she had been missing all morning. Finally he was close enough for her to lean over and rest her head on his shoulder. Eyes peering up to him with a strong adoration. She would be diplomatic in answering him. She didnt know exactly what to say though. She decided the truth would be easiest because, truth be told, Kalista was pretty much the worst liar of all time. Her cheeks flushed a rosey pink as those piercing green eyes searched his.

"To be completely honest with you, I thought it had all been a dream. That I had fallen asleep alone and dreamt you joined me. Then when I saw the note I realized it wasnt a dream and I felt strange knowing you werent there anymore."

She wondered if the words falling from her mouth so clumsy like, made any sense to anyone but her. She smiled up at him, just glad that they were together again. She wondered if it was normal for two people who just started dating to want to spend so much time together. Dating really wasnt her thing.

"How about you? Did you sleep alright?"

stalker

Stalker listened to what Kali had to say, her head on his shoulder. He took a deep breath of her perfume. "If it was a dream, Kali, let's stay asleep so it doesn't end."

Stalker gave Kali another hug and was considering where they could go or what they could do. He didn't care as long as she was with him. "I slept good. I was tempted to curl up in bed with you when I placed you there. I...I wasn't exactly sure if you would have approved."

Stalker felt his face flush at that. He really did want to curl up with her and wrap his arms around her, holding her close instead of going on his errands. He really wasn't sure what her reaction would be. He hoped she didn't get offended, as that wasn't what he meant.

"I mean, not that I would do anything you wouldn't approve of, that isn't to say that I don't find you attractive but..." Stalker just stopped. He felt like he was digging a hole for himself. He took a deep breath and started chuckling at himself, shaking his head.

She didnt have to fall asleep. She knew that even though she was awake, it didnt mean she wasnt still in her fairy tail. As he spoke through the next several sentances she snickered to herself. Yeah he was opening his mouth and inserting his foot. It was making her laugh really quietly. She reached her hand up and two gloved fingers were pressed to his lips before he got himself into any more trouble.

She thought about it. She wouldnt have minded if he had curled up in slumber with her. The thought made her smile again. Then she stopped herself. This wasnt the type of behavior that she usually approved of, but there was something different about the two of them. She was certainly not ready to make the final step with him, but this didnt bother her in theory at all.

"I wouldnt have minded if you laid down to sleep. I know you wouldnt do anything I didnt approve of and, I would like to say I am a very big girl who is capable of telling someone No if I need to"

She nodded sharply and didnt realize how silly she sounded saying that she was a "big" girl. She was too little to be saying anything like that but she was sure he knew what she meant. Her face upturned to kiss him on the cheek. Then smiled to the waitress as they brought her cake. She nibbled on it and watched him. Not all that interested in breakfast.

Stalker smiled at her kiss. He understood what she was saying. He watched her for a few moments nibbling on her breakfast. She apparently didn?t want to be there. He had forgotten all about the last bites of his own food but he wasn?t hungry anymore. He gently rubbed her back, careful to avoid the knot that held her corset tight. He still thought of the thing as some type of torture women endured but he?d never say anything. Kali was very proper and, compared to her, he was a rogue. Sometimes, he wondered if he was just out of his league.

?I was trying to think of something we could do, but I haven?t been able to think of anything. So, I thought I?d leave it up to you.? He looked over at her, still smiling. He cleared his throat and did his best impersonation of a Lord. At least, he hoped it would come across that way. He lowered his voice a bit. ?M?lady, I am but your humble servant!? Stalker added a grandiose bow to her and held it for a couple of heartbeats. When he came back up, he gave her a wink and gave every effort to not laugh at himself.

It didnt take her much time at all to completely neglect her breakfast. Psions were more capable of getting energy from tapping into another person. She smiled looking up at him as he offered himself to her as her humble servant. Hey giggled to the lavish bowing and nodded her head gently to him. Standing she dipped low and curtsied to him.

"I was thinking I could make you something back at the house. We can use the formal dining room. See I got you something as well. But it cant compare to this locket. Its amazing. So I want to do something completely personal."

She nodded and looked up at him. Anything to get a second chance at cuddling in with him. She blushed hard as she thought about it and then shook it off. A smile and she laced her arm into his. Walking with him slowly back to the treehouse. The breeze tussled her hair about behind her as the walked.

Stalker blushed as Kali gushed over his gift to her. ?You know you don?t have to do anything special for me but that sounds wonderful. I?m also flattered that you got me a gift. What is it??

He gently stopped her walking and she had that ashamed look on her face. He shook his head and gently reached out for her chin, lifting it. ?As long as it came from you, I?ll love it.? He gave her a kiss. ?I love you, so that?s all that matters.?

They turned to continue walking to the treehouse. He put his arm lovingly around her, his hand resting on her left hip as she was walking on his left side. He loved feeling her warmth against him. He didn?t want the day to end.

"Of course I got you something! I wouldnt ever leave you hanging on a holiday. Even if I am crummy at picking out gifts."

She shoved her hand into her purse and pulled the dogtags from it. Canting her head to one side she smiled to him holding them out for him. She shrugged her shoulders and tried to think that they werent as bad as she thought they were.

"I thought they were a great idea until I saw how amazing your gift was. But I am going to make you something to eat and we can sit out on the balcony while you eat. It will all be very romantic."

She smiled and slipped her hand into his as they walked. She nestled herself against him as they walked. When they arrived at the tree house she smiled and unlocked the door for him. She smiled and leaned up on her tiptoes to kiss him.

"Make yourself comfortable and then you can join me in the kitchen."

She smiled and as if walking on air she glided away to the back of the house. The dragging of a chair could be heard, as she used it to climb up and get into the cabinets.

Stalker picked up the dog tags and looked them over. He hadn?t expected her to get him anything. After all, they had only recently started dating. But it had grown into a serious relationship. Stalker saw the date and both of their names inscribed on one dog tag and on the other dog tag was the phrase ?If you were the rain, I?d wish to be the Earth so I could embrace you and all that you are.?

Stalker blushed. He had known that she liked him but he didn?t know to what extent, for certain. He looked into Kali?s green eyes, a tear threatening to come to his eye. ?Oh, Honey! I love them. You did great. Honestly, I was expecting a hug or a kiss at the most for Valentine?s Day.? He was a simple person. Would that ever be good enough for Kali, he wondered to himself.

They walked for awhile, hand in hand and Kali was nestled close to him. Stalker hadn?t expected to find love for a long time, let alone love like this. When she kissed him and pulled away to go make something, he looked around the tree house. What he wanted to do was go into the kitchen to help her out.

?You know, if you keep this up, you are going to have me so spoiled.? he called out. ?I don?t mind helping you, either, if you?d like?? Knowing what the answer would probably be, Stalker took a seat on the couch, studying the inside of the tree house.

She smiled as he looked at his dog tags. She suddenly felt they were a little bit less stupid than she had first thought. It was amazing how happy he was with them. She thought he would be upset seeing how amazing his gift to her was. She touched her locket and smiled to him brightly. He never ceased to amaze her, something so simple seemed to mean to much to him.

As he blushed she reached two fingers up and touched the blush with another bright smile. Her face turned up to his. She giggled and obliged to him. Giving him a hug and then a kiss. If that?s what he thought he was getting that?s what he was going to get. She pretty much thought he deserved everything.

?Happy Valentines Day to you too sweetheart.?

Once they were in the house and she was in the kitchen it would give Stalker a chance to look around the tree house. It was something that had once been simple. Alana had moved in there with her husband Feilas when they married after Alana being here for a year or so. Feilas had a thing for everything being simple as possible and so much of the time he had been there everything was neutral and simple. Since Feilas walked out on Lana and the two little ones last time Alana had gone to changing EVERYTHING. The walls were covered in pictures of the Family. The children, Audren and Kali, Lana, Mason, it was more or less kept to one area above the fireplace. The rest of the room was a bit more Alana. Black lush leather couch, with matching chairs. A glass top coffee table, and end tables. A strange touch was the candles. Everywhere there were candles. None were lit but there they were. Littered all over the room. Everything fragile was kept high up to safeguard it from the toddler.

?You can come on in if you like. I am not the greatest cook. I am sure you could show me a thing or two?.Or a hundred?Or a thousand??

The last bit was murmured to herself as she filled a pot with water and set it on the stove to boil. Kali went about dicing tomatoes quickly. Praying to whomever would listen that she didn?t slice the hell out of herself as she cooked.

Stalker walked into the kitchen and watched Kali work. He walked up beside her. He smiled.

"Oh, I don't know if I'm any good at cooking. I can do a few things but I'm not a chef. What would you like me to do?"

Now the kitchen was something else entirely. Modern deco top to bottom. Kali?s sister Audren was actually the one who got to decide what happened to the kitchen. There was no traditional table in the kitchen instead there was a marble topped island. On one side was the sink and several drawers and the other side was lined with chairs. She smiled and in front of him she set down a cutting board, a knife and a whole mess of fresh herbs. Rosemary, thyme and basil mostly. She smiled as she dropped all of the diced tomatoes into an empty pot and added some oil. She smiled and looked him over and shook her head.

?All I need is that to be chopped up really tiny so I can turn the sauce on. Im not making anything fancy. Just spaghetti and sauce. Im not much of a chef either?

She giggled and watched him as he seemed a bit nervous in the kitchen she laid her head on his shoulder as she added a pinch of sea salt and a teaspoon of Olive Oil to her pasta water. A kiss to his cheek as if to assure him that it wasn?t a big deal whatso ever.

Stalker chuckled. He wasn't nervous because of what he was doing. He was nervous from being in her home...again. It all seemed to be moving so fast, but he wasn't complaining. It felt so good. He shook his head at himself and chopped up the herbs as finely as he could. Cutting he could do. He just wasn't very creative when it came to cooking.

"Honey, I'm sure whatever you make is going to be great."

He chopped everything up and, when Kali moved, he dumped it all into the sauce she was making. He moved over to the sink and hand washed the knife and cutting board and put them back where and he moved to stand next to Kali, he placed a hand on her shoulder and gave it a gentle squeeze and a kiss on the cheek.

She nodded. She was sure it wouldn?t be terrible so she just went about getting the pasta into the pasta pot and pushing it around with a wooden spoon she peered into the pot standing on her tiptoes. Hmmmm. She though to herself that she should turn up the pasta and turn down the sauce. So she turned the sauce very low and covered it. Turning the pasta up she smiled to herself and folded her arms over her chest. A sigh to herself as she could smell the sauce and it was actually smelling like really yummy ?made from scratch? sauce. Her eyes sparkled as her meal started to come together.

As he placed his hand on her shoulder she looked up at him with a little smirk. She didn?t let on that she was probably the words worst cook. She giggled at the thought as the top to the pasta sauce started rumbling and shaking. Wide eyes she reached over deciding the sauce was ready. Only a few short minutes later she was smiling up to him. She had to go to the dinning room and get everything ready in there. So standing on tiptoes again she kissed his cheek.

?Ive got to go and get everything ready in the dining room would you be able to strain the pasta?

She didn?t wait for him to answer she just wandered down the hallway and went about pulling a bottle of merlot down from the rack near the cellar door. She smiled to herself as she glided into the dinning room. Setting a place at the head of the table, and then another right next to it. Filling water glasses and setting the wine down on the table. She lit the candles and smiled as she set out the crimson napkins with the sterling rings. She was pleased with herself and turned and made her way back into the kitchen to put everything into serving plates.

Just as Stalker was about to respond, Kali slipped out and into the formal dinning room. He smiled and wondered. He wasn't use to someone doing something for him. Anyone he's ever dated in the past, he HAD to do something for her. Kali seemed different. She seemed to genuinly appreciate what he did for her. Stalker thought that made her all that more special to him.

"This was going to take some getting used to", Stalker thought to himself.

He stirred the sauce...it smelt delicious. He stirred the pasta and plucked a strand out of pasta and plopped it into hsi mouth to test, the way his mother showed him when he was a kid. It was just right. He looked around for a strainer and found one quickly. He set it in the sink and, using a kitchen towel, picked up the pot of pasta and dumped it into the sink, in the strainer. He had just turned on the hot water to rinse the pasta when Kali came back in. He smiled at her and his blue eyes twinkled. There was something about her. He just couldn't figure out what it was.

"Pasta is ready, Honey!" He said as he rinsed it. He turned off the water and turned to look watch Kali. He could watch her all day. She moved with a grace he hadn't seen in woman before. The more time he spent with her, the more he loved her.

?Yay pasta!!!?

A childlike smile stretched across her lips and she reached up to take down two crystal bowls. She poured out the pasta into one of the bows and then poured the sauce into another. She smiled and handed Stalker a towel. She used a different towel to lift the sauce and nodded him to follow her to the dining room. She glided towards the dining room and when she arrived set the bowl down. Leaving space for him to set his down.

Once Stalker had arrived and set the bowl down Kali started serving them both. She smiled as she poured out the faewine. Very odd wine indeed, the smell it emitted was that of blossoms and fruit. She sipped her wine and raised her brow to him.

?Happy Valentines Day Stalker. I?m so glad we are able to spend it together. I couldn?t think of anyplace better?

She smiled to him with complete sincerity. Her eyes went to her plate now. She poked around the pasta and sauce on her plate. The girls in this household didn?t exactly eat the same way that everyone else did. She would look up to make sure he wasn?t staring. And incase he was she would slowly begin winding the pasta on her fork taking a bite. A smile offered to her significant other.
