That's what the subject says. Any questions, comments, concerns, gripes, put them here. Gotten a few IMs, PMs, from people wanting to help or join in. So this too will be the place to step up.

Seems we're getting a lot of the action here! I like it!

Seems like a good time for the former professor to come back and fan the flames some more.

I'd also like to play along if you don't mind.

------------------------------------
Now there are a lot of us involved and that means things could get hella crazy in the postings. However I think we are all experienced enough, and skilled enough, to roll with things as they progress. It's a battle so keeping things a little chaotic will help with the speed of flow. As much as taking turns in posting might seem easier, it'll slow things down significantly. Just my thoughts since this isn't a game of D&D and there aren't any initiatives to roll.

I'll try to keep up with campus descriptions in the setting as best I can. I was going to be lazy and post a screen shot from the online map, but apparently I didn't see the post about re-leasing the spots. So I'll have to go by memory since that map is crap-tacular in waiting on it to load and fiddle with.

Synopsus thus far:

Briarius is pinned down, wardings failing, and is now baiting the original Shauri into a one-on-one throwdown.

Artemus is down to 1 golem and activated the constructs around the academy given the anti-magic things cropping up and sprayed a group of Stormtroopers with chain-lightning. Calling Atlas, he had the construct unhook the globe of the world it carries and got inside. He's not rolling it around the campus like a mobile fortification as he gets the students rallied and formulates a structured defense.

Aquilonius showed up on the scene and returned fire on the Shauri-Craven taking the bait.

Craven is drawing Aquil out apparently for some one-on-one face time.

Rhaine has threatened to throttle Art if he gets hurt then summoned a swarm of self-propagating insects and a life-draining mist telling the Headmaster to get as many students inside as possible.

Vinny arrived on campus and began seeing where he could cause the most distraction to help the invaders. Decided to pick a fight with Wyheree.

Wyheree summed a massive blizzard that covers the entire southern half of campus that's freezing everything near Absolute Zero. And just finished fighting off one of Vinny's doubles as it was a distraction.

Shauri has devoured the souls of 20 students so far, sent a Fire elemental to take out Wyheree and her blizzard along with an Air elemental to disrupt Rhaine's life-draining mist.

Leuni had joined the fray, currently entranced watching Aquilonius in action as she's never met an actual Jedi before.

Somehow I think that's like the pot trying to call the kettle black.

Anyway, looks like 2 characters and some storm troopers against everyone else. I think? Maybe we should have a running list of Goodies and Baddies cause I'll surely get confused.

2 Characters plus 1000 Storm troopers against 5 characters. I would think the sheer numbers favor the attackers.

Shauri

I never said anything about what favors who. And to correct you, since you wanna be picky... technically it's 4 characters and 750 stormtroopers (minus a handful or two) against everyone else.

 Chalk one up for me.

Just wanted to say it?s great to see all this participation. Makes things exciting!

But I also see a problem with some of the placements. Thought I?d add in a note on my last posts, which I just made. I?m categorizing the groups by location North (front side), South (Backside), East and West. I figure that?s a more stable way to visualize my groups since the leaders will randomly switch.

Hope this helps.

Since the RDI map refuses to cooperate AT ALL. I pulled up the RoH map, they're the same image pretty much, just without RDI's markers. And remember this is from when I "owned/leased" the spot previously. Forgot to get the spot back, so not intending to step on anyone's toes if any of those spots are now taken

(click to enlarge in another window)

Summoner's Circle that Rhaine and Wyheree came through is the Square building closest to the East-Most bridge. The little bush there is a spot students like to sit at while reading after taking books from the library. Needless to say the school is in fact over-run as that's not much room to work with. The quad is where Atlas is swinging his chain, this area is where the two center buildings are, the T-shaped one was torn down along with the tiered building to the right of it.

The main class building (where students are being directed) is the largest of them, the red-roofed structure. Since the attack came at night, students would have been in the two buildings along the road to the north, these are the dormitories.

Also, this may effect some post-play from me. I am getting put on a new shift at work. My times will be limited to before 2pm and after 11pm EST. That's right 2nd shift.

Okay, so I was right... the southern edge could be considered a backside.

I was looking at the campus map the opposite way, so in talking to Arte's player, I think I'll post this up incase anyone else was looking at it wrong like I was.

The campus basically fits between that eastern bridge and the first dock to the west. If you go north across the eastern bridge, take the first road to the west, you'll be travelling along the shore to one side and the southern edge of the campus on the other. If you go north across the eastern bridge and continue forward (northwest) along the road to the second road, that marks the eastern side of the campus. If from that intersection you turn west towards the market, that would be the northern edge of campus. The western edge of campus is actually just after the two dark grey buildings, both rectangular running north/south with a little bitty brown building between them. The northern building has a metallic looking circle on top of it, whatever that's supposed to be. The two grey buildings are the chem labs.

Anyway, wow, didn't realize the place was so close to the market. They might even be getting some fire from the ships. LOL Trav wasn't kidding! That's too funny! :D

----------adding----------

It also causes a slight problem but... as with anything, there is always a way to work around it.

1. Maybe attacks on the market were centered on the market in the center of the market district, and not so much areas further away from the center. If we use that for our purposes here, it doesn't overrun the area.

2. Alex has launched more ships against the Abyss, which will probably take away some or most of the attacks they'd been doing on the market area.

3. Alex has also brought in his own troops not only to protect Exodian investments into RhyDin - like the jumpgate and Exodian Enterprise's stores right by it (which are located down the street from Arcanum by the western bridge) - but to protect the citizens and lend aid to their immediate safety. Which means, some of the troops are going to end up here in Arcanum. Note... Some.

Okay, so about being overrun...

1. I don't think Arcanum is as small as the picture makes it seem. A lot more people can fit there then it looks. Well, I think that would work for an excuse! ;D

2. While it probably was overrun to begin with, lending to why so many of Sha's troops have been killed so quickly, along with the powerhouse attacks thrown at them, I did state that there was a barricade being made to fend off attacks from the outside of the academy and so likely most of the men would've been stationed there as well, spreading out between the barricade to kill off anything in the area too close like a few houses away or to locations across the street from the academy and definitley thick around the eastern bridge.

anyone else have any thoughts on this?

Rhaine

Date: 2010-10-23 23:11 EST
An OOC note on Rhaine's spell effects. Since my char is a bit weird, and to avoid misunderstandings, some notes here.

Mist: this isn't a spell. It's basically a "spellmadness forming the major part of me", as Rhaine prefers formulating it, an energy matrix. What it does unless targetted: every target every second has 1-3% probability to be drained of life energy. When targetted, it performs functions of spell channelling, vision filter, molecular+magical structure scanner. Best way to deal with it - get out of range, or be in an antimagic area.

Swarm: designed arthropod-like creatures (material ones), with enzymatic mechanism for melting through most armors (pure titanium, gold, some other things _might_ help). After melting through living one's armor, they kill the victim with neurotoxin, and infect the corpse (the temperature inside armor is about 39 C); within 2-4 minutes a new generation springs out.
Ways to counter-act: flamethrowers or similar effect spells burn them, tornadoes also have a chance (not against the underground leaping swarm though). Swarm isn't affected by antimagic field (only initial swarm creatures are assembled magically).

Chain reactions: specific spell type, requiring a bit more time to cast than your average fireball, but allowing precise manipulating biochemical reactions into combat biomage variants: destructions of phospholipid bilayer, protein denaturations, force insane enzymatic activity (like, activating hydrolaze enzymes for cells to "digest themselves from within"). Contagious ("leaping") chain reactions are able to affect groups of enemies. Chain reactions may also include induction of such disorders as severe hallucinations, heart attacks, blood vessel walls bursting (and Rhaine knows what else... these are just most useful).
Counter-act: get into the antimagic field before the chain gets you.

Hope that helps.

Wyheree

Date: 2010-10-23 23:51 EST
For those curious, this is what I typed in to get the translations for what Wyh is saying in her post:

"Ice and snow, blizzard winds, heed my call and come to me!"

"I am the mage of ice, the queen of night and winter - obey my will! Destroy my enemies!"

She's on the south side, along the river - temperatures plunging beyond the worst Arctic storms, with the very ground freezing as a result, now engaging Vinny in a throwdown. ::grins::

Rhaine

Date: 2010-10-24 00:16 EST
Aw, you're making it more difficult for my swarmies to get out from underground! :: pout :: :-)

Wyheree

Date: 2010-10-24 00:20 EST
Just on the South side - anything north of that square building is cold, but not utterly frozen. :)

Just so it's up there for those following along and reading, I will update the program of events as they unfold.

Gotta say, I'm having fun with this. Who else?

Yep! Been trying to put together something similar with Bri and Sha, like Wyh and Vinny did.

Maybe that's something others can do as well. Like Cain and Aquil. Looking forward to seeing those two interact.

Anyway, soon as we get it completed, I'll post Sha and Bri's little action up.

Shauri

Date: 2010-10-26 11:15 EST
And now I got that part up! yay!

Gotta say I've been glad for this thread and some of the explanations added in. It does help! Especially with Rhaine, hun you're right that character is a wierd one. LOL Just like Sha. So I can relate it's difficult to explain some things to others. I'll do my best to try and understand it.

And I have enjoyed the little side fights too. Great job everyone!

Although I think I'm going to wait for Aquil and Cain to catch up some before I post any more. I feel like we're leaving them a little behind in the flow of things, which I think what they do might be important, at least for my Sha's to react to. And I know both players have been busy in life and trying to get their schedules together, so I'm taking a time out for them. No pressure guys. ;-)

Also, I loved what Trav had to say, too. Just had to pop a link back to it. http://rdi.dragonsmark.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=130436#130436 He rocks! +crazy+

Shauri

Well, considering all of this ... http://rdi.dragonsmark.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=130795#130795

I'm not sure what to do here. I know I said I wanted to wait on Aquil and Cain to post, but apparently that might not happen for a while. And Trav just said he wanted things wrapped up because he's going to start up the Heros section soon.

What does everyone else want to do here about this? Continue on and finish this or wait? ...... or just leave it?

I apologize for my silence. Seems Aquilonius and I were thinking the same thing. Wait for the other guy. Anyway, I'll have something up in a day or two. Been dealing with a bug of my own.

Since the RDI map refuses to cooperate AT ALL.

I just remembered it was a glitch I guess someone wasn't able to compensate for. It's been like that for a while. You have to outsmart it to get it to work.
Just kidding... Really, You just need to click on any of the listed links below the map and then the map will stay in view from there.

Briairus, please check your PM about your recent post. Thank you!

Wyheree

Again, for the curious - this is what Wyh is saying in Common (English):

"Fire does not always defeat ice - ice can vanquish fire."

"Are you afraid of me, cowardly bitch? Dance with me, if you dare!"

Shauri

Well... I wAs having fun. I seem to have a really big headache now. It hurts to read things. Maybe I need new glasses?
