Vasvrae

It was rare for the drowess to actually attend her classes on a regular basis. In fact, if she showed up at all in a months time it was considered a miracle of some sort. However, since the dark-skinned woman's return to the surface she had decided that something needed to occupy her time and terrifying her students to the brink of insanity seemed like a good hobby to pursue.

So, as the students filed in for their normal session they were somewhat disheartened to see the drowess lounging quite leisurely at her desk with a cruel and twisted smile spread across her face. Whispers filled the room and soon were hushed with a mere glare from the professor. Everyone had moved to take their seats and as they did Vasvrae rose from her leather highbacked chair.

Congratulations... you are all now fourth years. And as such I expect that you have learned a great deal of magic and knowledge through your studies. A truly sadistic grin set itself on her face.

As such, I would like to test your skills. I feel that, in my absence, you have not truly been able to understand the darker side of many magical creatures. So, we'll be taking a walk.

The students looked to each other in a state of mild confusion. They weren't going to complain as it was a gorgeous day outside and getting onto the vast grounds of the building seemed a much more satisfying alternative to being locked in this classroom with their drowish Professor. One by one they rose and Vasvrae led the way down the stairs and onto the grassy lawns surrounding Arcanum Academy.

It seemed everyone was fine until their heard a piercing cry coming from a little outcropping where a group of about five drow stood. The students could feel the pit fall from their stomachs. A strange creature with what looked to be tentacles in all directions was writhing against its chains undoubtedly coated in some powerful kind of magic. It was a child of its species and every cry it made would send waves of pain over its captive audience. Vasvrae rounded the front of the class and stood to the side of the creature.

This, children, is a mind flayer. I will give a passing grade to anyone who can tell me of this species.

After attempting to vend off the need to vomit, students began to raise their hands reluctantly. What an interesting school year this was going to be.
