Topic: She is in Summer land. Tending to Kitty.

Chryrie

Chryrie returned from the Inn in her usual puff of dust outside. She looked up at the dark building that was House Helston for a few moments before making her way up the steps and through the door.

Jade was sitting in the main room, reading a book while keeping watch over Kitty. The couch had been altered via magic to be wider and more comfortable for the ill moredhel. Kitty was sprawled across it, entangled in sweat drenched sheets. The IV that Chryrie had hooked up to her was silently dripping it's contents into her bloodstream. Chryrie checked the time, then picked up a syringe, shoving more medicine into the IV to help with the fever. It was becoming less and less effective anymore, but it was all she could do at the moment.

Once the medical details were dealt with, she settled next to Kitty, her fingers weaving through Kitty's sweaty hair to magically clean and dry it. The whole time she spoke to her as if carrying on a conversation.

"I saw Luse tonight. He said he would stop by and give you a good talking to. I dare say you need it. Maybe a few words from him will get you to start fighting this, hmm? Sid gave me a few things to try. Perhaps they'll have some impact on this sickness. She told me to tell you to get better soon. And Scottie even sent you something. See? He let me take one for you. That's saying something. I thought he always insisted people get their own. " She tied the soft ribbon of various greens around Kitty's wrist gently.

"Tasha and Taneth sent you flowers. They're very pretty. I have them preserved for you so you can see them when you're better. " She paused a few moments. She glanced to Jade, then looked back to her sister who's eyes seemed like they were slightly open.

"When I talked to Luse, I suggested taking you elsewhere. We both think having you stay at the Blood House Onyx for awhile might be better than staying here. I know you're partial to this Helston place, but there you have more family around you. They might be able to do more than I can. And right now you need to be someplace safer than I can provide." Her voice cracked as she said the last sentence. She stopped talking as she tried to regain her composure, but failed. She just crumpled up next to Kitty and let the tears flow in jerky sobs.

Jade watched quietly for a few moments, but said nothing. Eventually she moved from her seat and headed upstairs. The noises that came from Kitty's bedroom could only be interpreted as Jade packing some of Kitty's things.

After awhile Chryrie calmed and wiped the tears from her face as she sat back up. She gently wiped sweat from Kitty's face with a cool moist cloth as she sniffled and worked on her composure.

"We'll get you healthy again, Kits. You just have to fight for it too."

Take me to Summerland
the place where we all go when we die.
Take me home to see my ancestors in the sky
take me home to Summerland

The black. It surrounded her now. She struggled to find the pinpoint of light that would bring her to the waking world. She didn't want to be forever lost in this haze. But she was so tired. So very tired. Maybe she should just relax and let go? No.. no.. she can't do that.

It was if she were a prisoner in her own body. She could hear what was going on around her. The voices reached her through the blackness as if coming from someplace far away. But she couldn't reach out. Her own mental power had betrayed her. It was if there were something boxing her inside her mind, preventing her from reaching out to those she loved. She fought against it, and sometimes she would manage to almost break through. She could move some part of her body and she would try to speak, but not enough to be coherent. She heard Chryrie speak of delirium. She wasn't delirious! She was there! Oh why couldn't they hear her?

When she was awake, she couldn't remember anything of what she wanted to say. It was like she had dreamed it and it was lost. But once the darkness overtook her again, she remembered everything.

Time had lost all sense of meaning. She no longer knew when it was day or night. Chryrie rarely slept, so she couldn't go by that. Jade came and went, but never conversed much. She never conversed much with a waking person, let alone one who was essentially going in and out of a comatose state.

Chryrie's voice returned to her, reaching her again in that black nothingness. She spoke of Luse coming to visit. Luse? Visit her? Yeah right. That boy avoided sick people like.. well.. the plague. She didn't blame him. There was something her and Luse had in common. The hatred of feeling helpless. She was certainly hating the feeling right now. She heard mention of Sid and the medicine. Oh lord. Who all knew about this? Well, maybe what Sid gave Chryrie would help. Something had to.

She felt Chryrie tie the ribbon on her wrist from Scottie. The instant it touched her skin she could feel the energy that radiated from the ribbon. For a brief moment the blackness was disturbed by a vision of a coyote turning into a crow and then flying away. She watched it fly away until the blackness overtook the image again.

Tasha and Taneth sent flowers? The girls were always so sweet. It worried her that she wasn't able to look out for Taneth.

Wait wait wait.. she was being moved? To the Blood House Onyx? She was perfectly safe here, wasn't she? She would have protested if she could, but then she heard Chryrie's voice crack. The sound of her sister's sobs made her heart feel like it was breaking. Damn this! What the hell was doing this to her? She heard mention of poisons. Who would poison her? And what kind of poison would do this to her?

She was so angry... and there was nothing she could do about it.
