Chryrie

Chryrie had gone into the Inn just in time to see Taneth being led out by a man in a suit. It wasn't long before the talking of others let her know it was one of those lawyers her sister had talked about in the past. She didn't know much about them beyond that they had somehow hurt the Bloods. That in itself was enough for Kitty to hate them.

She reached out to her sister through the mental bond they had to ask what was going on. All she got back was babbling that made absolutely no sense. She was sure she'd hear about it after she got home.

And hear about it, she did.

She formed on the steps of her new home only to see her sister sitting on the steps of House Helston with her face in her hands. She breathed a heavy sigh and went to sit next to her feline sister.

"What's wrong?"

Kitty's breath was jagged. Her words came in short gasps like she'd been crying. It was a rare thing for Kitty to cry, which only had her more concerned.

"Taneth's working for them! I know she doesn't know what she's gotten herself into, but there's nothing I can say to make her believe me about how wretched those leeches are."

"I'm assuming you mean those lawyers. Where's Artemus?"

"Yeah.. those lawyers. He's inside asleep. They're... oh gods Chryrie. They're going to use her and then when they're done with her.. "

Chryrie nodded and wrapped an arm around her sister. "I know. But she has you to protect her, right? And you know I would do anything to help her."

Kitty nodded, then suddenly she was up and pacing back and forth. "I just don't get it. I mean, they're just wretched leeches and yet for some odd reason the Bloods haven't gotten rid of them. Why does Lankyn allow them to keep existing? And then there's the matter of Lankyn himself. I think that man has said all of maybe three words to me. What does it matter if I rip them to shreds. It's not like he cares what I do. It's not like I haven't tried to be more a part of the family. But instead all I get is silence. And Belial? Where the hell is that woman? Nobody has even spoken about her or where she may be. Is she alive? Is she just on another one of her little escapades? Does anyone even care? And now one of my best friends is working for those awful people and I can't do anything about it! I could tell her how horrible they are, but then she'll have the three of them telling her the opposite. And she's so willing and eager to always see the best in people. She's so innocent. They're going to destroy her. I feel like there's this knife in my chest and I can't pull it out. I feel helpless and there's nothing I can do to fix it. I hate this!"

Kitty let out a growl and kicks a post on the porch, splintering it. Chryrie simply watched her sister and let her rant. There wasn't much she could say to make it better. All she really could do was listen.

"Have you done a meditation search for Belial?"

"No. I didn't want to intrude unless one of the family asked me to look for her. This isn't like Ashram where we knew something was wrong."

"Ah. Perhaps you should ask someone in the family outright."

"Yeah.. I suppose I could. But what about Taneth? How can I let her just be.. USED by those pompous pricks?"

Chryrie shook her head sadly, "I'm sorry Kitty, but sometimes people just have to learn things for themselves. And when they turn on her, you'll have to be there for her to help her pick up the pieces."

Kitty opened her mouth, then she slumped, looking defeated, "I guess. I just.. want to protect her from it."

"You can't protect everyone from the world, Kitty. You know that."

"Yeah.. but I don't have to like it. Especially not when it's a friend."

Chryrie just gave her a worried smile, "C'mon sis. Go inside and curl up with that handsome toy of yours."

Kitty half smiled and nodded, then turned and went inside the House, closing the door quietly behind her, leaving Chryrie in the dark outside. The fae moredhel just watched her go, then with a deep breath returned to her own home. This was not going to be a very pretty time. Perhaps it was time to dust off some of her less than fluffy abilities. She had a feeling her sister was going to have need of them, and soon.
