"That's not the problem here. It's been you."

I don't need your protection, Katt. I don't need either of you to do anything for me; because all along, it's been you two that's been driving me through a brick wall of raw emotions. Your constant claims of 'protection' has done nothing short of cause more problems. Meanwhile, you're nuts about Toby, who you think has something for me. I, on the other hand, have no feelings for him. So even were it true, it's a waste of energy to sit around and cry how he doesn't love you. Here's a solution. Try not being like a jerk and thinking something's wrong. The secret here is to not be so crazy, and maybe he'll actually like you for who you are. You're so busy crying and giving him a headache, he can't see anything but your negativity. And since he'll never get with me like you think he just might, you have nothing to worry about. Is it so hard? Or is the idea of being with him not in your best interest?"

Words had never clawed so deeply into her very core before. Coming from Mayu in such a fashion made her want to just disappear. Even if Mayu didn't understand the words stung so massively. It didn't help that she was completely alone in the conversation.

Why did it have to end up that way?

Why did Mayu have to throw the necklace Toby gave her like she had?

It was sort of ironic really. She being afraid that he would leave because she angered Mayu. And in the end..that is exactly what happened. She wasn't sure if it was hatred she heard in his voice but she was pretty sure it was close to it. His words after Mayu left were nothing short of heated blades into her very soul.

Stay away from me.

The emotion that came after that was like a violent burst. She had to watch as he hasted away out of sight, sickened with being near her. Stay away from him? Forever..? She wasn't sure.. All she knew was her state of being had deteriorate before the conversation, thus why she was going to rest. But this..This destroyed her. Pain raised high then ..snap. It was like a slow filtration of being emptied out. She felt ..cold.

She had managed to tuck herself into a corner of a stall's deep shadows, body curled up as she cried into the early hours. She fell asleep crying and woke some time later. Wet. Melted snow and what have you was cold around her. It didn't matter..

Standing she shook off the coat so it didn't get any more wet and started down the street. She didn't know what to do. The problem, as Mayu said, was her. So ..she should remove the problem right? Toby would want that too. He didn't want her around him..So if she was gone..Mayu would be happy. Toby could go back to being around her and not worry about Katt's stupid feelings.

As things stood currently..That seemed the right choice. Motions became empty as she moved, mind blacked out as she was doing. It hurt too much and yet at the same time she couldn't feel anything. It was disturbing in a way.

A thicket of heavy parcel paper was bought and the coat carefully wrapped up in it. Tears strolled down her cheeks as she continued on her way with the package in tow. She stopped into Ichiraku and the serving girl blinked at her as she offered over the package.

"The..man ..I came with before..give this to him..p..please.."

The serving girl seem irritated but by the looks of Katt she didn't give her much of a hard time. "I am not a delivery girl."

"I know..but..please.." Katt managed to croak out painfully. Her throat hurt..It was a struggle to hold out the coat towards the girl.

"Are you okay hun? You look horr-" she tried to take the package from Katt.

Katt turned away before the girl could finish, yanking the package and holding it close to her chest. She was already slipping out. Arms folded across the packaged coat as she looked around the market. Maybe..hoping..

Turning she started off to where she would go. Denise's cabin.

The path there was far too long and sluggish. Along the way she was stopped by an annoyance. She noticed the man that Mayu had been..flirting with? Really..Katt wasn't sure how to consider what she had witnessed between Mayu and the man. Specially when she heard Mayu tell the guy how lucky she would be to have a boyfriend like him to bring home. And yet Mayu said she had no interest? Why was he bothering her? He kept getting in her way. Trying to help her. She didn't want help! She just wanted to go to the cabin and hide away until she was able to rest decently and figure what to do.

The cold, empty feeling she felt made it easy to deal with him and the other figure that attempted to help her. This other figure posed a offering that she felt herself almost accepting. A knife dropped at her feet telling her to kill herself..

It had been considered..

She was the problem after all..

Nothing more then a headache..

She just..wanted to go to Denise's cabin and sleep. Why did he have to continue getting in the way. Like he cared. Like anyone really gave a shit about her..

She finally was able to get away from him but only after a sort of agreement. One she didn't exactly plan on dealing with anytime soon.

Milky fleshed and strength nearly gone by the time she reached the cabin. The hole was still there. It didn't bother her. Pushing the door open she stared across the small building towards the bed. Her heart clenched up into her throat at the sight of it. For the first time since she woke up she had a stew of emotions. Turning her eyes away she crept to a corner and tucked herself to the wall. Legs pulled close to her chest and face buried against the package that had been placed against the bend of her knees.

She didn't know what to do..

Would she really lose him forever? Would she..go back to the darkness that he unknowingly pulled her from?

Was her protection, as Mayu said, really a problem? Was she really a headache to him?

What she did know was the cold abyss that was starting to wrap her.

Night.

How long had it been since she's been there? When did she actually moved from that corner? The wrapped coat had been left in place and strangely enough she was about the cabin, patching it up. There was little to no strength but she was managing well enough. A piece of board maneuvered carefully over the hole in the wall was being banged into place by a large stone. Each sounded thud of stone to the nail made her body tense, threatening to collapse. She should of ate back then. It would be only after that last nail was hammered into place that her hand slung down, stone released to hit the ground next to her foot. All done. Not bad even by those pupiless eyes.-

Night. The shadows' cling made all but the deceptively delicate footfalls of the figure discernible from the folds of the forest through which it traversed. Cowled head down, hidden eyes of molten silver nigh on lazy in their venture across the forest floor. Not weeks ago, the figure had abandoned these trees, these surroundings that had become its home. Called back now, from that same feeling that drove her away, she stood at the very edge of the clearing which housed her cabin... a silent sentry, observing the sounds Denise heard from within its termite infested walls... with interest.

A deep, slow breath filled Katt's lungs. It was hard to do. It hurt mid-point through the drawing of air. Shaking her head she turned her eyes to the floor. How was she going to fix that. Staring blankly at the hole she slowly crept towards it and sort of just dropped herself right next to it. She wasn't sure what she was doing. There was nothing down there any longer so it wasn't as if curiosity was there. A hand reached for the hole only to draw back and raise to her mouth. Pressing into her lips there was a struggle to keep air and not cough up precious vital. Shoulders shook then relaxed with the effort and the held breath was released sharply.-

"Most peculiar..." Denise whispered dryly to herself. Grass that had just been kissed by the outside air was subsequently trampled underfoot, small emerald blades springing to life as if she had not just bestowed her full weight upon them. Upon reaching that oh-so-familiar door, her slender hand paused in its rise, only but a moment taken to collect more visual evidence of something within. Something that was sentient... "Child, is that you. Have you retrieved your dog yet," spoken whilst she shoved the flat of her hand against the door barring her entrance, forcing the crude planks to squeal and whine in protest as they swung inward swiftly.

Katt's chin rose faintly when she heard a voice. Unfamiliar and yet she didn't go for the twin-bladed sword that was resting place against her back by means of a rather unique baldric. Female. First thing that hit. Strong. With words said she was easy able to gather who it was. Truth be she didn't expect Denise to return to this place which is why she had chosen this place of all to hide. Dulled out, pupiless greens shifted to look over her shoulder towards the door as it came in. She might of actually gotten to her feet..if she had any strength.

The putrid air of the cabin was what hit Denise senses first, though just a millisecond before she registered that of a crouched figure at her feet. Shadow swathed silvers narrowed to slits behind the overhang of her cowl, finely tapered digits drifting across the wood of the door. "And just who, exactly, are you." This was no longer her cabin, though Denise was unable to ignore the slight pang of... annoyance at being trespassed upon.

Slowly her head tilted away from the woman. Strangely she felt..absolutely nothing from the female's thinned silver eyes. Somewhere in the back of her mind though..there was a reminder of someone else. Muscles coiled, telling her to stand and yet. Fully her head turned away. "No one.." It came from barely parted lips and a very strained throat. As if she had been screaming for hours and had nothing to drink.

"Hmph. Whilst I don't believe that to be your true name, if you wish me to call you such, I have no complaints." Finally, Denise let her doe skinned feet cross into the cabin, shifting only slightly so as to not barrel into the ragged woman before her. A firm brush of authoritative contact, however, would not be passed up. "You smell disgusting, like that of a half eaten corpse. What are you doing here."

Katt had been called worst so that sort of slipped off like water from oil. Hands collapsed in a bowl at her lap she stared at the hole. From it all she saw was darkness. It mimicked the cold, dank darkness she felt. Empty? "I don't know.. Fixing..your wall?" If it was still Denise's place she had no right to stay correct? Head ticked faintly even with contact. "You..are Denise?"

Denise gave a grunt, the closest sound to amusement she had recently allowed herself to convey. Other than that small uttered noise, she offered the woman nothing else, but swept her solid figure in one strong stride before the dead hearth riddled with ashes that she could just barely recognize over the stench of blood. Kneeling before it, the heel of her hand was sent down hard upon that scored floorboard, sending it up into the air at an angle to be caught and pitched aside in the woman's direction carelessly. Denise dipped low within the hidden crawlspace, digits gracing over her sparse store of materials. "You have been told of this place, correct? There is only one of whom I know that possesses such knowledge. You are an acquaintance of Toby's, are you not."

Pupiless greens watched in silence and even when the floorboard came her way she raised a milky white hand to bat it aside. The effort was enough that nearly sent her body tipping to one side. A slow blink followed and she turned her head to the wood as it danced upon the floor then fell into a place of rest. "Acquaintance..." What was she to him? Nothing anymore more then likely. "I ...don't know.." There was more that wanted to be in that sentence but it died off on her tongue.

From within the hole, she produced a nearly empty book of absurdly large matches, and tossed it to the floor. A further lean performed, and she began to toss small piles of ash aside, feeling about for the amount of kindling she had to work with. "Are you dense, or have you been beaten about the head recently? How can you not recall of you are known to another." Orange firelight flickered, briefly lighting up the harsh line of the lower half of her face, soft alabaster flesh belying the stone-like set of her hidden features. The match was pitched down upon the hearth, half charred logs arranged until they roared and filled the room with light and heat. Her attentions shifted aside to the woman, taking in her appearance for the first time now that she had adequate lighting.

Katt's eyes settled blankly upon the flames as they came to life. The dancing flames are the only thing that light her delicate, pasty features. "We..know each other. Have known each other since we were younger. However..now..he has told me to stay away from him. So I do not know what that would place me in ..concerns to him." The words flowed almost as lifeless as those eyes stared. After a handful of moments her eyes tilted from the fire and onto the figure that questioned her.

"Hmph. Perhaps I should have worded such differently. I have not asked for your life story, so as of now, it is of no consequence to me. It is enough to know that you know of the child," brushing the flat of her palm against her leathered thigh, a well placed puff of air sending a few last flecks of ash to die upon the air. The woman was not what she had been expecting to find. She was neither gangly, nor dirt ridden like most travelers who happened upon abandoned cabins usually were. Slender fingers slide beneath the lip of her cowl, drawing it back from flaxen hair so pale it nigh on matched the hue of her own flesh. Jagged bangs fell before her left eye, tracing the scar so akin to a vein cutting its way down that side of Denise's nose. "Since you seem to need special treatment with questions, I shall ask you something simple. What is your name."

Special treatment? She required no such thing. At least not to her own eyes. Eyes followed after Denise's movements. She was taller then Lisa. She also looked as if she had seen more of the field. Aside the scar she found Denise to be very beautiful. Even if her eyes looked as if they could slice through a person with a single glare. Air filled her lungs, as if to prepare for what was to come next. "I shall leave. It is your establishment after all and I apologize for intruding as I had. -Hands placed onto her thighs and pushed as she forced herself unsteadily to her feet. She wanted to at least get the wrapped up coat that was laid in the corner before she left. "Katt."

Another amused grunt squished free from her throat. Denise rose as well, though she noted it was a great deal smoother than the woman's own movements. A sideways glance across the rest of the one room gave her the last bits of information she needed. The source of most of the smell was that of the small pot still tipped over in the corner. The bed against the wall looked like it had been touched, however. She lifted her chin, gleaming silvers boring down upon the woman five inches shorter then she. "So it is you... From how the child spoke of you, you seemed to be closer than this," a dismissive gesture of her dirty hand towards Katt.

Katt might of been slightly uncomfortable under the hard gaze but if she was it didn't show at all. Spoke of her. Everything about her seemed so slow. Even when her gaze moved lower to watch the gesture dished out towards her. "I was nothing more then a headache to him. A problem." She swallowed hard, jaw flexing under the attempt to keep herself from crying at those words. For the first time she actually felt a small ting of sorrow. It was very, very small.

"Has he told you such himself?" Denise didn't move, didn't waver... a stone amidst the teaming and crashing waves of the sea. That hardened gaze only traveled across the woman's face, searching for any silent answers to her query.

"Someone we both know did. He didn't bother attempting to say anything against it. Instead he told me..to stay away from him." Her eyes remained, strangely, on the woman's hand. As if searching for something.

"I see." Beneath the layers of her cloak, shoulders shifted as if to suggest a shrug, but as Denise had started to move in the direction of the door. Another firm touch of contact sent into the woman's arm whilst she pushed forward, her blond head not turning to acknowledge the woman with any more scrutinizing glances. "You are welcome to stay within this cabin whilst I am here, and after I have departed, if that is your wish. It is also your choice if you do not do such." A sweeping turn, and her form disappeared around the corner of the cabin.

The contact was enough to send Katt unsteady to one side but this was corrected with a handful of shuffles and a hand to the wall. A confused sound painfully rose from her throat at Denise's words. Welcomed. A step was issued followed by another slow one. She was attempting to follow the other woman but stride difference was leaving her in the dust. She made it to the door in time to see the last wisp of Denise circle the corner. "Were..you hoping to see him again?" It was an assumption as to why she would return to a location even though she knew she was a hunted person.

The stockpile of wood was bypassed in favor of the small pond hidden amongst small, naked trees. Sometime during that window of time, Denise had collected the bucket that had been hiding in the shadows of the wall. Her head tipped to the side, recognizing soft sounds of speech. She didn't bother to answer until she had filled said bucket, and gathered a large armful of kindling, carrying both with her right arm and reappeared around the corner of the modest building. "I had told him such before he departed, yes."

Katt moved, weary step taken outside and away from the door, arms held out in attempts to help with the burden of the kindle. She probably shouldn't stay and damp the chance of that happening. Maybe ..one more night. She nodded a single time while thinking back on the night of their arrival. "He..was disappointed you were not here when we came. I..was a little as well." A confession that didn't need explaining unless asked. For now she set her sights on simply assisting. If her body allowed.

An obviously confused look was given down to Katt and the white arms she was extending. Denise's features remained frozen as such for several, long seconds, her gaze raking across the woman as if she was nothing more than an eyesore. Later, however, she shook her arm towards Katt's hands, sending several sticks in her direction. She then began the short trek to the wide open cabin door. "Is that so." Denise didn't pause on the threshold, merely stepped over it, her form hidden once more by the walls.

Katt's arms rose to capture the pieces of wood between her arms once they were discarded her way and she followed behind though in that slow state of hers. She simply gave an affirming sound but nothing more seemed to follow after it. If she had caught the look that Denise had shot her way it was either not noticed or it simply didn't phase her. Remaining behind the taller of the two to keep out of the way, she was like a extended shadow. Only when given the room to do so would she place the kindle where it went, a few bits tossed for the fire to eat at.

The tip of a doeskin boot was used to nudge the floorboard back into position. Denise knelt down before the iron stove on the left side of the room, setting aside the bucket of cold water... spreading the logs of kindling in a wide fan across the floor. "So he did return, then. I should have expected such since that dog was nowhere to be found within the vicinity."

Once the wood was placed down Katt moved to the corner with the package. A hand settled to the wall to ease her way down to the floor. She didn't..want to remember their time there. It made her chest ache to the point she released a soft sob of pain. Half way down the attempt was simply forgotten and she landed on her rear with a thud. Grunting she drew back until she felt the wall. Knees pulled to her chest she gave a single glance towards the package that was now tucked between her and the wall. "Yeah.." Slowly Katt's eyes returned to Denise, chin lowered to her knees as if to get comfortable. She was far from such.

Slender brows drew together on a forehead void of wrinkles. Denise's attention shifted from her material tasks towards the woman whom seemed to be attempting to make herself one with the wall. No words fell from thin lips and soon, that molten gaze returned to her duties.

There was so much Katt wanted to say to Denise. Thank you among the words. But the underlining want and will to do so was simply not there. Blank stare was upon Denise. Watching the tasks being performed. Maybe part of her was expecting to be ordered to do something. But it was simply best to remain out of the way, right?

"I am to assume by your presence here, and by the words you speak of that child, that he was successful in his mission against the Voracious Eater whom resided in this forest," pushing up from her knees and leaning towards the almost dainty cabinet at the head of the bed. Digits slid into a small groove and she drew it slowly open, pulling the last wooden bowl from the only shelf. She shook it free of any impurities prior to dunking it beneath the surface of the water and capturing a good amount. It was presented to Katt.

"Voracious..Eater?" Was she speaking of Tylor? She had lost sight of Denise between the question and the offered bowl. Moment of blackness if you will. She blinked, staring at the bowl then up to Denise. Arms slowly uncurled from her arms to accept the bowl. It was brought close and settled against her knee. She couldn't even look at her own reflection she was so disgusted with herself. Instead she overlooked the bowl. "He called himself an ..awakened..Are they ..the same thing?"

That same expression was given down to the woman. Denise had refrained from asking Katt to repeat herself with a hard purse of lips. A sharp turn had the edge of her cloak swaying behind her legs. The feeling of uncertainty was creeping upon her and it was an uncomfortable sensation. "Hmph. I suppose that is true. Though Voracious Eater the term with which I was told to call them," something acidic just barely lacing the tone of her words.

The change was noted and Katt glanced up towards the retreating Denise. Had she said something wrong? "Denise..? I want..to thank you. For all you had done to help Toby."

"Thank me," she repeated, kneeling once again before the water bucket, dunking the lip of a clean metal ladle beneath the waters surface and bringing it to her lips. The smallest of sips was taken, the utensil then lowered to rest against the side of the wooden bucket. "He expressed the same sentiments to me as well. You are not going to attempt to hug me though, are you. I may have to injure you further than you appear to be."

"You do not have to worry about that." She didn't feel like even hugging herself let alone someone else. Katt eyes drifted to the edge of the bowl and it was brought to her lips for a sip. Features twisted up and the bowl was lowered. An attempt was made to stop herself from coughing at the horrid sting. Brows bunched up and nose wrinkled for a brief moment before slowly relaxing.

"Good." Her sights were set upon the fallen pot in the corner. She tipped it onto its rightful side with her toe and was greeted with several colors and smells that she was certain did not come naturally from vegetables and beef.

Snork. Yep. Katt did it when she caught the first scent. She hadn't..really been paying attention to that pot. She felt the urge to empty her stomach. Disgruntled sound came as she lowered her chin. "Mrmmm.."

Grunting forcefully, Denise caught up the edge of the pot with the tips of thin fingers. "Tell me, Katt, what is it that brought you to this place instead of any other within this realm." Standing upon the threshold of the cabin, she tossed the rancid pot to the winds. It cleared the vacant ground and sailed far into the trees. She then shut the door upon the elements.

"Because it's far from the city. And.." Her eyes lowered to the bowl's edge. "I guess I was hoping to find some direction in which to go. I suppose..back to Unity or Mandrake." Seems only proper she return to service where she belong. Her chin lowered until her lips found the bowl's edge. They just settled there. She..didn't belong here..

"I see. It is difficult to hold a conversation with you, has anyone told you such before?" a slender flaxen brow arched as Denise queried, brushing the top of the mantel free of dust. Fingertips upset one of the three stone knives which she herself had extracted from that child.

Katt was silent for the longest time. She could of so easily pointed out to Denise it was only going to get worst. That ..eventually she would just be a thing worthy of labor..of killing.. Her eyes rose up and she attempted, and failed, at a smile. "Forgive me..I just..don't know anymore. I am ..lost..?"

"I am aware of such. I have been since I had laid eyes upon you. Am I correct in assuming that it was not just because of that which you have suffered at the hands of the Eater. That child told you to stay away from him, correct." A gentle lean was taken up against the wall, elbow resting on the very edge of the mantel.

Katt's fingers crawled tightly into the bowl. She had to stop herself from applying too much pressure. Slowly she nodded and lowered her head until only her bangs were seen over the bowl. It wasn't just that though. He didn't even attempt to help her. He left her there like a steak to be gnawed upon. Then left her overall. Left her to nothing but the cold dark. Alone.

"I have absolutely no notion why I am even asking you this, but what did you do to provoke such a response. That coward was nigh on death from hyperventilation at the mere thought of your death, I cannot see what would cause such a change so quickly." Fingers rose to brush golden bangs away from her features to tuck them away behind the cuff of an ear.

Katt wanted to fuss at Denise. Tell her that Toby was no coward. "Mayu went off on me..like she has many times before because she doesn't like what I do or how I am. She went on to say how I was always sulking when she and Toby are together. That I always 'disappear into the sunset'. But I never leave unless there is a reason. I am jealous, a little, but she thinks that it's more then that. She saw me sulking and thought it was because Toby gave her ..some birthday gift..I tried to explain that I didn't even see...I just wanted getting something to eat then going to sleep. I..wasn't feeling good..and was scared over something a Yoma had said to me the night before. She told me I was lying. That I was twisting things around to somehow look like something else is going on. She said..I was the problem. She said..she didn't need my protection ..ev...even though I gave up my life to protect her from Tylor.." She felt the bowl under her hands and it whined out. "She said..she regretted ever being friends with us..And then she tossed something at Toby. He....H..He was mostly quiet during it all. He picked up whatever she threw..and..t..told me..to stay away from him. Then he..left...."

Knuckles had curled, resting gently against Denise's temple and she let brief relaxation into the muscles of her neck. "So you can speak..." she muttered under her breath for her own amusement. One corner of rose pale lips inched higher than the other. Denise listened without much evidence that she was doing such. "I regret asking you this question for I was hoping for a shorter, less long winded answer, though I am thankful you provided me with more than a mere sentence. I do not know of this Mayu that you speak of, either. He did not inform me of this person. And you are here because you felt that you had no place else to reside in whilst you picked your face up from the floor and arrange it back in its rightful position. I must tell you, Katt, that the emotional constipation I have witnessed from both you and that child staggers me."

Under different terms Katt might of laughed at that. Or at least cracked a grin. There was absolutely nothing. No phase from the words. She should drink more and yet found herself clenching onto the bowl like it was the only thing keeping her there. "You are..partly correct. I am here because I have no place..I suppose I could of ..went back to that village..It was just this was closer.." Denise's later words caused her to resume to that silence and she stared at the bowl. Emotion.. What was left was slowly bleeding away. She didn't bother in attempting to correct Denise on 'arranging her face'.

"I see. And you have not tried to deny such, you have not tried to stop that child from escaping, nor talked to him since then. Are you going to just sit here, with tears on your face whilst this happens?" Denise straightened from her placement against the wall, stepped to stand in the direct center of the room, her rock hard gaze burning down upon the wrinkled sheets and blankets encasing the mattress she had never used. "I do not know what sort of atrocities are performed on those that man age to find themselves alive within the clutches of a Voracious Eater, but if you survived such, you are strong enough to stand up for yourself. Unless I am wrong in my assessment of you."

"He told me to stay away. What right do I have to ..do otherwise? All it would do would further his hatred towards me.." Again her own emotional state was ignored. Until.. She thought of Denise's words and she raised her eyes to the woman. "He tore at me..emotionally..physically..Tore everything I knew asunder. Everything I loved and cared for..he ripped at. I have been trying to collect myself back together but every time I try..something comes up..

And normally it was Mayu throwing a fit over such little things. Things that..Toby didn't even attempt to protect her from. Her lips thinned and she stared the bowl and herself. "And I've tried..But Mayu sits there and 'debunks' my words. And Toby..he will always believe her over anyone else. He listens to her over anyone else. She's...more important to him then anyone .."

Denise's chin lowered smoothly. Instead of the bed, now, her gaze rested upon the scored floorboards beneath her feet. "That is not the point. You have survived that which has been impressed upon you. You have pulled through the Voracious Eater, and you have done the same through this altercation with that child and this Mayu woman. It is true that you cannot control that which happens to you, but have control over yourself, and how you respond," as she spoke, her cloaked form turned to face Katt, nearing her with measured steps that she normally reserved for the hunting of Yoma. Her expression would easily go along with that. "I do not wish to deem you pathetic, I sincerely do not. For then I will have to assume that the woman of whom Toby spoke, his best friend, that which has remained the same and been here for him... all of that disgusting sentimental nonsense... was for naught. And therefore, I, who have taught him instead of doing what I should have done with ones such as he... have wasted my time."

Her eyes turned onto Denise like green fire. For the first time since..well..Darkmere..She felt a lil anger rising up. That wasn't particularly a good thing. Pain and all didn't stop her from rising to her feet. Rasped voice raised sharply, cracking at one point. "Don't you think I've tried?! But every damn thing I've done has been wrong! Every time I do something and Mayu doesn't like it she gets angry at me. She grinds me into nothing and no matter what I say she has to always be right. And it doesn't matter what is said. She will make Toby agree with her if she has to or find some way to make her point look valid. I told her there are always more then one side to a situation she told me there is only one side." Her jaw tightened as she hissed. "And what you've done for him has be no such thing as a waste of time. You've helped him greatly and for that I am more then thankful for."

Denise's expression momentarily twisted into that of one who had been abominably disrespected. She did not step back, nor utter a sound of surprise at the woman's sudden surge of energy. "Then what will you do. He has told me that you love him, and whilst it's true that I do not understand, nor care to, that which is involved in human relationships, you do not sit in a corner and watch the object of said affections slip through your fingers. But that is of no consequence. I can see that this situation is riddled with emotions that I care nothing for." Denise lifted and waved her right hand, clearing the air of the words just spoken as if they were little more than dust. From her vehement defense of her tutelage of that child, she could only assume that the woman knew nothing of whom she really was. And such caused the first sneer to break the stony mask of her features, teeth revealed in a sharp knife's edge.

The look on Katt's face faded some. He had told..Denise that? She didn't know how to react to that and it showed. "Yes..I do love him. He is ..more important to me then I can ever explain. It was because of him I truly found what life was. What it meant to laugh. Really laugh. But I can't..just follow after him. He already hates me now. If I do so will only flame it more wouldn't it? He..already wishes I didn't love him to begin with..he doesn't exactly..share the same.." A hand rose to her heart and pressed those knuckles harshly. Slowly fingers uncurled and she bowed her head. "F..Forgive me..I didn't mean to upset you." It was rigid at best, stiffening herself from falling over in the mark of humbleness and respect. "I just honestly don't know..what to do. If I do follow him no doubt he would be angry." She didn't even want to think what Mayu would say... "He said..he wouldn't let me if Mayu ever got angry with me and yet..he did. He's never..stuck up for me when it comes to her..and I don't..know what to do." Her fingers clenched at her chest again. "What do I do..if everything I do is so wrong?"

Denise's own facial set relaxed to nothing more than slightly attentive. "Believe me, Katt, it takes a great deal more than emotions between others to upset me. And I regret to inform you that I am not the right person to ask for advice about matters such as these. Your story seems to greatly go along with many of my comrades'. In another world, I daresay that you would be one of us. I shall answer you honestly, however. You will never truly know if everything you do is actually wrong. It ma feel like such at the time. If you think that this Mayu woman is incorrect in her assessment, then fight it. On the other hand, if you think she is correct, and if it is something you wish to do, change yourself... so such is not true. Either way, sulking within my cabin is not within your list of options."

Granted if Katt kept on this path Denise would find she was much more like a claymore then anyone would like. Ever. The look settled on her face like she wasn't quite sure how to feel about that one even if she knew about her past and Denise did not. "And if I were to fight it. If I were to do as you say..and stand for what I believe in. She may very well turn him against me. She's already turned him against Ixora, who was very worried for my well being. And while granted Ixora didn't seek out Mayu as to what Mayu would say was easy, Ixora was places that Mayu could of very well visited. Mayu stated that Ixora doesn't care about her enough to check if she was okay. In the end..I..don't even think Toby has spoken with Ixora since. I can..can't lose him...It terrifies me. Not only because it would mean losing him..but myself. Searching him out..I am worried that would cause more problems then solving.."

Denise scoffed softly, hardened silvers rolling up towards the ceiling as she turned from the woman, presented the woman with her back and the slim hilt of her hidden weapon. "What is it about this child that is so important. I have been trying to discern such for the longest time. He is not special, he is barely more important than that of any other human saddled with the burden of living in a world such as ours. But he is less than such now... and yet," she turned once more, the edge of her cloak fanning away from her legs, momentarily revealing the trim, stiff ebon leather armor she encased her body with. "Here you stand, defending his existance. It sounds like you two women are fighting over this insignificant child, becoming enemies for his sake. I do not understand this."

It was a strange fascination that Katt would no doubt be caught upon. She had been staring at the hilt of Denise's sheathed blade. She still felt the want to test out the one that Toby had. Bloody freaking weapon junky! Her eyes snapped into attention when she heard Denise. "He is special. He's special to me. And we are not fighting over him. At least as far as Mayu would admit. She says she has no feelings for him. That she doesn't, and would never love him. And when I first met her she was very dear to me. Like ..a sister. But then ..she started getting over critical over everything. Tearing into anything I did and not caring if she hurt me or not. Hell..she threw utensils at me. If Toby hadn't moved in the way a knife would of.. " Her hand raised over her heart and pressed firmly. It came with a sigh. "He did nothing more then give her a puppy look. Anyone else would of done that to me..he would of been so pissed.." Her head shook slowly. "I am...happy he has her. She makes him happy. But it seems that Mayu takes that for me being jealous."

Both of Denise brows lifted upon her forehead and she stared down upon Katt as if the woman had misheard her earlier question. For she didn't detect an answer anywhere within that monologue. "You seem to be defending yourself against such accusations. Am I to assume that this Mayu woman in incorrect, then... But I am also confused at that which you've said. Because you have stated that you are, indeed, jealous. If only a little, it must have shown to this Mayu woman for her to make such claims about you."

"I do not leave because she and Toby are doing whatever. If I leave there is a reason behind it. Even if something as not feeling well. When I say I am jealous I mean in the sense that...he seems to totally change around her. It's bewildering. She holds this..power I don't quite understand and I find myself jealous of her. I'm not jealous of them being near each other is my point. Heck I have, on a number of times, told him to go be with her if only so he'd be happy because for a time it didn't seem like..he was. At least not around me. He..sort of corrected me on that train of thought." She shrugged a little and leaned back. She was starting to feel weak again. Was like dying down way too quick from a sugar rush. "I just..seem to make her angry with things I do..and in turn he takes her side..and gets upset too.."

"I am still not seeing the issue with you and those you surround yourself with. Perhaps it is because I have spent most of my life around those which do not have the want nor the energy to tell lies, and thus, do not do so. But I have a hard time believing that this woman Mayu would make up such stories if she does not see these qualities within you. Whilst I admit that it is curious that that child behaves differently around this woman, I believe the fault also falls on you for showing such things." Denise released a forceful sigh, running her index finger across her right eyebrow. "This conversation is quite something, I daresay. You have not answered my question, however. What is it about this brat... that makes him worth this much of a headache. For I am gaining one and I have not been within his presence for several days."

Katt sighed and slowly sank down until she was sitting. "Before I met him Denise. I was voided of anything such as..emotions. Even ..'life'. I was a mere piece of property and nothing more in the sight of others. A tool. A weapon. A doll of destruction. I was tortured in ways that, although physical, could of put even Tylor to shame. Then I met him." Her head dipped down as she thought back to those days and a rare little smile crept in. "He is my light. My laughter. My heart..He is my humanity. Without him ...-The smile faded and her brows furrowed. "I've always had the thought of him with me. Even when I was forced back into servitude. They tried to rip the very memory of him from me. He is very much a candle light in the darkness that has been my life. And me falling in love with him..just sort of happened from that. And it's something I've never..strayed from."

"Hmph. I was correct. Your story is indeed like those of my comrades. I do not think Lisa held the boy on such a pedestal as you, but there was most certainly a reason why she kept him around. Though, several of my comrades also do such to avoid being threatened by the Organization." Her right hand sliced through the air in another dismissive gesture. "Before I state my opinion on such things, I have another question to ask you. If you were void of such emotions and life, as you say, how is it that you know that what you have this very instant is just that. I shall assume that you have not been in love before, nor cared about any one person save yourself."

"I've never even cared about myself.. " It was an idle correction as she pondered on how to explain. Slowly her eyes closed. "I have seen people truly in love but to explain it. That's not easy. I know how I feel. I know it's true." Her eyes opened a bit and she tilted her head. Slowly a hand rose and she rubbed at the silver rose earring. She blinked and suddenly turned her eyes up to Denise. "Being with him makes me happy. Being away from him is like..having someone tear at my heart with a finely heated blade. Small things he does..makes me feel safe. When he kisses me it's painful and calming all at once. Like my mind is lost in a swirling void. And the thought of losing him...is not something I wish to consider.. It's not easy to explain but I know what my heart feels."

"I see," pale head nodding as it turned in the direction of the fireplace. Her right arm crossed before her torso, digits wrapping around the slim curve of a hip. The folds of black wool shifted around her as she did such. "Whilst I know it is not my place to judge what another does with their own existance, I shall offer my view to you. You should not stake your being, your heart, or otherwise upon any one person as you have done. Especially not one such as he, or any of those like us. Fo]r you to say that he is your humanity..." a quiet sigh broke her lips as she watched the orange light of the fire dance about in its resting place. "He is no longer human, and he thus not even able to be such for himself... let alone someone else. He is tainted, as are a great many of us. It is not something I expect you to understand, having not gone through such a process yourself, feeling the way that we do."

"It's not something I can change. And bull. He is human. Even if part of him is 'tainted' he is still human! He isn't like you. He isn't like those that Lisa has described to me. He doesn't want this. He wants to be normal and he's striving for that! And he will fight the yoma that dwells in him. And If I can help him learn how to deal with his yoki and this yoma then hell I will!" She shrank back when she realized she said 'will'. There was pause in her words and she stared at the floor. "I've seen him..live normally. I've seen him have emotions like any normal person. He cries when he's sad. When he's..happy. He is human.." Her eyes tilted up faintly towards Denise. "He is..just different..We all are."

Molten silvers narrowed on the fire and it was a look that transferred to Katt. She had not realized, until that very moment, how much she welcomed solitude and the lacking interaction it indefinitely came with. The expression she was giving the woman upon the floor now was not one reserved for Yoma, but for those which she had passed upon her daily travels, those which jeered, sneered. Those that had whispered behind meaty hands of the coming doom one such as she inevitably brought down upon their pitiful lives. Were it not for her, and her comrades, they would be nothing but dried blood, pieces of organs and strips of flesh hanging from the gaping jaws of a Yoma. It was far from a friendly countenance. She found herself unable to speak of move lest she put this woman through the wall and across the forest in one swift, deadly attack.

Katt's eyes raised to Denise to find the glare and she was stared at. Slowly she shook her head when she realized her words were incorrectly placed. "Even you must notice that he different. Your own words were of his emotions.. I am not saying you do not as well." She wanted to venture into that thought a bit but didn't want to pry into Denise's privacy. "You are correct. I do not know what you've been through in the means of process. But I know it was painful. I've had a mere taste of that pain. However, he is different. He doesn't want what has happened to him. He wants to live normal and he wants to fight becoming an awaken. I want to be there to support him in any way I can. That's why I..mmrmmm.. "Searched out lisa..She flinched thinking about that.

"It is no place of mine to put such into perspective for a brain so obviously minuscule as yours, but I feel that since you are here, and I am in the right mood to do it." The distance between Denise and the woman was closed in a mere step, a languid bend performed. Her right hand, swift as a viper attacking its prey launched forth to grip hold of Katt's throat directly beneath her jaw and apply pressure... hidden strength tapped in an attempt to draw the woman forcefully to her feet, and keep her pinned to that wall she seemed to hold so dear. (s)"Toby is not human. Just because the child looks human, acts human, even seems to posses the same qualities as one would denote a human to possess, make no mistake, he is one no longer. Your feeble defense to that fact is nothing but mere words in order to ease his pathetic moaning over his fate. Whilst I know that he did not choose this curse, he is nonetheless still trapped within it, and he will learn to live with such... or risk consequences." She brought her face close to the woman's, their features all but breaths away from one another. "Consider your grip upon this child, your claims that he is your humanity, your life. And how you do not wish to lose such. It is the same for him, and myself, my comrades. But we have already lost that which deemed us human. And we do not wish to remain here."

Katt squawked out and choked. She couldn't even muster her altian strength in her state. She didn't thrash but rather reached forward to grasp Denise's wrist. Applied pressure in attempts to get her to ease the grip she coughed out. "B..Bullshit!! You haven't lost it! If you did you wouldn't be angry right now! It's just stuffed away." Pupiless greens met the silver ones that glared at her so. She tried to gasp out a few breaths in attempt to speak. "E..Even..T..Tylor..th..that awaken being. He.." Gasping she attempted another breath. "Goddamn it release me! I..Have a point!"

Mercury gaze took in the features of the woman she held, those unnatural eyes so close to her own. She silently assumed that not even she was of that fateful group called 'human.' Nevertheless, Katt still did not seem to grasp that which she was trying to explain, and she deemed any further action towards it unnecessary. A slow breath trickled from pale lips, the grip she was forcing on the woman's flesh slowly lightening until she could no longer feel the outline of her trachea through her palm. A slow half a minute later, digits left Katt's neck and Denise took a small step back, her murderous expression underlined with a hint of expectancy.

Katt inhaled sharply and quickly filled her lungs. Back met the wall and she rubbed her neck slowly. She was careful on how she was going to present the next. "Am I allowed a few questions before I present my point?" She made sure to keep an eye on Denise's hand for obvious reasons. If she was at full health..Denise would of had a problem.

"Very well." Denise allowed herself yet another step back from the woman, her right arm hooking about her middle as if it was folding with her left. Once more, the folds of her cloak rippled, telling of such an action.

"When the organization takes ..one to be a claymore. Do they normally take them young? Train them?" Her chin tilted then turned up to Denise's face.
Slender brows furrowed as Denise briefly attempted to discern just what exactly it was the woman was driving at, whilst she formulated her answer. "That is usually the case, yes. Prior to our infusion, we must be able bodied. And after it has been administered, we are trained in various arts of battle, espionage and self control."

Katt's chin dipped to the other side and she slowly shook her head. Lips pursed and she thinned her eyes a bit. Deep thought this one. "It is my belief that they strip you of your emotion to easily control you." The conclusion was easy because she had been there herself. Turning her head she looked at Denise, eyes softening a bit. "Tylor...Said the organization killed his lover. If your kind cannot..have such emotions then how can he claim that? And while he was quite.." She didn't even know how to describe Tylor really..Her lips pressed together as she continued to think. Slowly her lips relaxed. "Why..are you hunted? Because you went against their orders?"

The woman's queries were taking an unexpected turn and there was a break in the expression Denise was giving Katt. Molten silvers traveled her form from the crown of her head to the soles of her feet in a swift, but thorough assessment. "Whilst you may be correct, most, if not all, of the time, they do not need to do such. For they chose those which have already lost everything they held dear to them and are thus blank slates for their proverbial chalk. The Organization is not, by far, stupid." The words fell from her tongue sharply, as if she would rather not speak them. Katt's last spoken words caused her chin to rise in acknowledgement of a smart question. "That child informed you of such, didn't he."

"Hardly. It is a process to train weapons. It is a process that I had undergone. I came to the conclusion myself by things. This is why I think he is different. He didn't go under such training. He's not under control of anyone. He's able to live his life as he sees fit. However..different factors create..different paths. You..and Lisa. I see difference between you both. And while I do not know the organization I know that people have done such things to keep people under thumb. Granted...I have seen also that ..things are driven by your emotion as well." Her head tilted to one side thoughtfully but not wanting to lose herself to it she furrowed her brows. "Tylor had a rainbow of emotions and a very insane mind. That..isn't something that can be created..

"Granting their warriors the strength, skills and opportunity to slay those which tore their life from them does not require much force. However, all cases are not like that, and others do, in fact, need further persuasion." Beneath the cloak, fingertips kneaded the warming leather strapped about her torso. "What will you gain by trying so very hard to convince me of my absent humanity... by comparing me to that of a Voracious Eater." A dry, humorless laugh pierced the air. "It is true that that child has not undergone that which I and my comrades have endured. Even so far as his own infusion, for he has not been gifted with the same amount of tainted pieces as we have been. You are correct, he is not like us. I have gone so far as to assume that he is worse off."

"Then how can you say he is not human?" She shrugged slowly and leaned more heavily into the wall. "A new question. What is a Voracious Eater? I mean..it's a different term for awakened?" She was still trying to figure something out and she was seeking certain answers.

"Because he is not. Having even the tiniest sliver of such within one's system is enough to change one for the worst." Once more, her brow furrowed in thought, deeper than she had allowed herself to sink into when Katt asked her first questions. "I am assuming so, yes. That is the term which I was instructed to use for a Yoma who is exponentially more powerful than those I am used to facing in battle. If this Tylor referred to himself as an Awakened, as you say, then they do seem to mean the same thing."

Katt's eyes drifted up to Denise and settled heavily. "Claymores..become awakened when they reach their limit." Thank you Lisa! "Tylor had silver eyes..he claimed himself an awakened. And yet he looked human. In fact he acted more human then.." Most humans she knew. Aside from the insane nutjob he was. Her brows dipped down. "I thought..awakening meant losing yourself. Tylor..was very much in control." The confusion of her own thoughts came across her face and she shook her head. Off track!" Just because you are a little of something else doesn't mean you cannot be human. And he doesn't want to awaken. He's ..promised that he would fight against it. And I know..his emotions aren't fake." Noone can cry like a baby like that and be faking! She tried hard not to smirk at that lil thought. "You have emotions too. Dormant. Not as easily shown. Your anger for one.." Her brows ticked slowly down then raised. "You..never did answer me.."

"Yes, they do. Make no mistake, however, that what you interacted with was indeed a monster, albeit a monster in its own skin. Yoma themselves are naught but demons and can hardly walk this earth as they are naturally, and they thus eat their way into a human body and take residence. Awakened Beings, on the other hand, are one of our ranks that has completely given themselves over to the taint that resides within them," silver gaze moving aside to the door so closeby. An almost lazy step was taken towards it and she drew it open, feeling immediately washed by the rush of cool air that was sucked into the cabin by such a movement. She did not venture outside. "They are no longer themselves, they are merged with their own yoki aura. They seem in control of themselves because there is no longer anything to fight against." Digits drifted up towards her face, delicately training wispy locks of flaxen blond away from her brow and nose. "I shall tell you the same thing that I told that child when he asked that of me. I had a disagreement with someone whose status outranked mine in the Organization. Such an altercation, and the events that followed it, were frowned upon and I was deemed a liability."

"It that what they tell you or what you know as a fact?" Her eyes shifted after Denise as if to challenge that information. From what she seen in Tylor..that could be questionable. He was very much in love at one point. She found herself wondering if ..killing his mate is what set him off. Brows dipped faintly as she listened and a frown crept to her lips. It..didn't sound right to her. The frown seeped away and she glanced down. "I have..one more question. A favor if you will.."

"It is fact, and I must tell you that your words on my dormant humanity will get you nowhere with me," glancing briefly back to Katt over her shoulder. "Very well. It shall be my choice whether or not I carry out said favor, and you should know this before you ask it of me."

"I would have it no other way. I respect you Denise and hold you in high regard." Her eyes drifted down as she started to sink. The strength was leaving her. She should probably eat soon. She glanced to the bowl that barely held any water after being tossed aside. Should she drink again. "I would like information on how to assist Toby with learning to control and use his yoki." Obvious reason. Did it need to be said?

Denise frowned thoughtfully out at the darkened clearing which lay before her. After another long inhalation of air that wasn't stained with the hint of blood or rotten food, she swung the door closed. "So you have decided then, have you." The flat of her hand remained upon the door's surface, even as her pale head turned to regard Katt more firmly over her shoulder. "You will not stay away from him, as he has impressed upon you. You will be a strong woman, worthy of a sacrifice, regardless of how honestly pitiful he is?"

Katt stared at Denise. "He's not pitiful.: She swallowed thickly. Be a strong woman..against Mayu. She already knew where this would lead. "If..to help him.." For how short that will be. She wondered what she meant about sacrifice. She waited in hopes that Denise would..explain. If she tried any more of that 'he's not human' crap though...Well that was going to be a circling event that would never end.

"Very well. I shall hold you to this. For I, honestly, do not wish to think of you in the same light that I do him. He is closer to me because of what he is, but my opinion of him is quite obviously very low indeed. And I also do not wish to think either of us wasted our time getting him ready to hasten to your rescue." She turned smooth on a heel, leaned back against the door in what could have almost passed for relaxation.

Katt eyes found the bowl again. Her..rescue. How he changed so quickly when they returned. "What did you mean by sacrifice?" Fingers stretched out towards the bowl in attempts to collect it. Her throat hurt more now then ever thanks to Denise's grab. Drinking wasn't easy and she shuddered during the process.

"You do realize, do you not, that he could have been killed in his attempt to retrieve you," a sudden thought struck her mind and she smirked, breaths falling from sharp lips in silent, brief chuckles. "The child barely slept during the handful of days he spent in my company. He bawled like a babe taken away from his mother, he panicked as I have seen none panic before. He pushed himself until he was no longer able to stand upon his own two feet and all of this was for you, the person whom I was told that not even I had the right to harm. I do not wish to think he would place that much importance on one whom doesn't deserve it. Such would be pitiful beyond comprehension."

The look that followed as the bowl was lowered was nothing short of complete..surprise. Says the woman who begs to differ that Toby wasn't human. The bowl was lowered to her lap and she stared at Denise in a sense of disbelief. Something she couldn't easily hide. There was a very large sense of..guilt..Brows lowered and she glanced down. Jaw flexed under the flesh as she stared at the ground. If she was so important then why didn't he protect her against Mayu? Why did he abandon her like that?! She felt her chest tighten up and she lowered the bowl aside in order to pull the parchment wrapped coat into her lap and hold it close. "I know he could of..I am ..very aware of that fact. But most of the rest I didn't.."

"So I am correct in assuming that he has not told you everything," Denise nodded to herself once. She exited her lean and positioned herself before the iron grate of the stove, pulling it sharply open and clearing it of the black charred, useless wood. "Learning to control one's own yoki is a process that is different for each individual. Some have trouble with such, others excel at it. Toby has the added issue of not only having missed the training through which I and my comrades have gone through, but," she replaced the old wood with the new, twisting to pull a flaming log of kindling from the fireplace and shove it into the belly of the stove. Rising to her feet, she sent the iron grate shut with a well placed shift of her knee. "He also does not have the standard amount of Yoma flesh implanted within his system. I do not know what challenges he will face, and I therefore cannot give you foolproof advice."

While she listened she had opened the parchment and slowly pulled out the coat. Looking at it she softly settled it against the bend of her knees. Slowly she leaned into it and buried her face into the collar. Cannot give foolproof advice. He could..control it. She trusted him. She knew he could do it. "I see.."

In a room as small as the one they both occupied, it was hard not to miss the movements of the woman as she shifted around. Denise halted her search for the extra pot to observe. "That is not to say that such cannot be accomplished. If the child said he will fight his awakening, I see no reason why such a claim should be doubted. From my experience, having one close to us who is aware of what is happening within our bodies seems to have a great deal of effect in and of itself."

If there was anything that showed on her face was ..exhaustion. Her strength was depleted. Pupiless eyes were half-mast but were watching Denise. A sign she was still attempting to pay attention. One close who is aware.. "Really..?" She wondered if that meant ..she was a bit of help to him after all.

"Yes. An ideal candidate would be one who has already gone through such, or who is in the midst of it. As I do not plan on being readily available at a moment's notice, you will have to do. That conversation can wait until a later time. Come, you look ready to fall face first into the floor." Once more, she brushed her palm across her knees to clear of soot. "I do not use this bed for its intended purpose, but you may do so for as long as you stay here." She took hold of the blankets' edges and tore them aside, revealing creamy white sheets beneath.

She blinked and raised her eyes up to Denise. Well..that had her attention.- "Are you saying ..that in order to help him I must..become .." She glanced at the bed then down to the coat. Wetting her bottom lip she stood slowly, keeping the coat close. Nodding she sluggishly moved towards the 'prepared' bed but was apparently still awaiting an answer. Was Denise telling her she would have to..become a Claymore?

"Good God, of course not. If I was not so concerned with having to lift you from the floor afterward, I would, in fact, strike you for making such an absurd assumption," she said nigh on exasperatedly, flipping over the two pillows that were stationed at the head of the bed. "You will have to learn all that you can about what is involved with creating a being such as I." Quicksilver gaze fell to the coat that Katt had produced from the parchment wrappings. "If I recall correctly, within that coat is a parchment detailing such. I would read it if you have not already done so. Whilst I am still here, I will try my best to answer your queries upon the subject. It is not everyday that our existence becomes something of an interest."

"Toby..emptied the pockets out before I took it." She scooted onto the bed and all but buried herself under the covers. She shifted one side then another as if attempting to find a spot. Once it was found she nestled her head into the pillow. Coat held to her chest she glanced up to Denise. She felt..relieved she wouldn't have to make that choice. Eyes drooped a bit. Why..did the bed have to be so comfortable? She started to curl up a bit in order to still the pain in her stomach and chest. She remembered Lisa all but hissing when Katt asked questions. Denise..though shorter on a fuse..was nicer. Face dipped down into the coat and she murmured. "Thank you Denise.."

"Is that so," she all but muttered, however the tone of her words was a great deal more thoughtful than the last time she had uttered them. She waited until Katt had gotten settled and didn't move for a time prior to pulling at the edges of the blankets once again and loosely arranging them over the smaller woman's shoulders. "I appreciate the sentiment. Rest now, there shall be food when you have done so."

It was a lil strange being tucked in by Denise but there was absolutely nothing that was done to stop her. A strong inhale was held then released in a string of shudders. She finally settled quite heavily under the blanket, eyes falling closed. Food.. Body said yes..and no. Morning was going to be interesting! Ahem..If she woke up during the morning..

The woman was observed for a time before the search for the spare pot was resumed. Having found such hiding in the shadows of the small cabinet, Denise placed the iron quietly atop the stove then turned for the door to the cabin, slipping outside into the cloudy early morning with naught but a whisper of wool on leather.

And all of this was for you, the person whom I was told that not even I had the right to harm...

He had told her..she could take her time to recover. Take time to piece back things. Not worry so much about what was happening. Just focus on recovering.. He lied.

He said he would protect her. He lied.

He didn't bother protecting her an ounce from Mayu's fit. Things that she knew were false. Or..she hoped. Was Denise right? Or was it just a show he put on..? She had a feeling if it was a show Denise would be furious..

Mayu. Katt use to hold such respect for her. She care and love the girl. Went out of her way to buy a large apartment. Make sure it was so richly furnished and that Mayu would have everything she would need to live a cushiony life. She even, constantly, gave Mayu money to do whatever she wanted with it.

She threw herself into harm just to protect her. Was her sacrifice..her protection..her care...Did it really mean so little to Mayu?

She got more emotional support and care from a woman she barely knew more then she did Mayu. Mayu would rather fit over small things, picking on Katt, rather then be understanding.

How was that?

How was it that Mayu could say things to her...hurt her..and Toby just stand there?

Why couldn't things be happy?

How could Toby be mad at her..?

It wasn't fair....

She needed to be strong... She needed to face Mayu..

She knew where it would lead. She would tell Mayu things. Stand up for herself. Mayu would throw a fit. Toby..was going to hate her more. She would lose him...

..Forever..

Or maybe..

Maybe...Mayu would respect her enough..?

She could hope..couldn't she?

Mayu had said she wanted Katt and Toby to be together. She wanted it. Is that why she hounded into Toby about how he felt about her? Was she really trying to get Toby to confess or was it an act? It was hard to tell. Mayu had been acting so differently..

The thoughts rolled around in her head, making sleep very hard to keep. Tears streamed down her pale cheeks and soaked into the fabric of the coat she held so dear. She floated in and out of slumber until she was entirely too exhausted and ended up passing out.

A full day passed before she'd wake again. She felt drained more then rested. It didn't help that she was surrounded by the familiar scent. She even woke half-expecting him to be there..watching. Protecting...

Instead those hated eyes, that should of never been directed at her, haunted her mind.

The scent the bed held didn't help her at all. A tightness crept up in her throat and tears started to roll down her cheeks. In the middle of a sniff she smelt something else. Red strained eyes turned over boiling pot at the fire. How long had it been cooking?

Managing to peel back the covers she stumbled towards it. Her stomach tightened at the thought of food and yet..she was starving. She sighed at the pot and stared at it. Moving to collect the bowl that was once filled with water she used that to ladle in some stew.

Would Mayu ease up if Katt stood up to her? Or was it going to get worst..

If she was strong and lost everything then what was it for?

She didn't have time to recover from an emotional state. She couldn't afford it. She..couldn't lose Toby..If she hadn't already.

A frown crept her lips thin and she stared at the stew. She wasn't going to 'sulk' anymore. She would be strong. Show Toby she wasn't crazy like Mayu thought. He should of known better to begin with. He knew her better then that!! He even told her so. He knew her because they were so much alike. They knew each other very well.

Sighing against the edge of the bowl she carefully sipped the stew's dark broth. It stung painfully and caused her eyes to tear up in pain. She forced herself to eat down chunks of meat and veggies. She needed her strength and health back. That meant she needed something more. She needed...

Blood.

A momentary thought of how Denise would react to that caused her to lower the bowl. Staring at the nearly empty bowl she sighed.

She felt..scared.

Scared she would lose him...If she hadn't already.

Her mind needed to be on something else. She needed to do ..something. Denise wasn't around and be damned if she was leaving before she had collected the information she needed to help Toby.

She would cross the bridge if she would be able to help him or not at a later date.

She couldn't let herself think about losing him. She couldn't let herself cry any more about that. She had to steel herself for what she knew what was going to come. What she hoped against but knew better. There was that hope..Hope it wouldn't end up like that. Losing everything she held dear.

After eating she left the bowl near the fire before turning to the bed. Coat settled barely under the bed then she started to strip it. Blankets, sheets, and pillows. She saw the stain of red where the scent had been coming from. The coverings were bundled and tossed close to the door. She would find something to cover the scent of old blood.

Turning she stopped and glanced to the mantle. The knives. She recognized them. Ones from Tylor. A question came to mind. Several questions she would direct to Denise once she could.

Turning away again she moved to the door. A chill ran down her spine at the cold outside but..the sun was out. The cold wasn't so bad..

Maybe it was a sign. Things would get better? She could..hope...

Collecting the blankets and sheets she started out. The task of washing them wasn't a easy thing but it got done. Scented by some winter flowers that she managed to find and by the sun's light they dried.

While they dried she unsheathed her sword. A flick of the wrist caused the hilt to break in two, double blades parting into single bladed swords. While she waited she would let the cabin's air filter out and she would get some workout in while she could.

Smooth movement of her body swept in a tightly knit circle, swords gliding through the air in elegant, deadly motion. Slow for the reason of straining her muscles but the rhythm became faster..faster..

The breeze made her think of ice skating with Toby. It made her..smile. Just a bit.

The motions became swifter. Deadlier.

Her mind drifted when it shouldn't of. Toby seemed furious that she thought Tylor was still alive. She never told him that Tylor was dead. She just couldn't..stand seeing him like that. Losing himself.

A step wavered and she stumbled. Sweeping into a motion to correct it she grunted. If Tylor was alive.. it didn't matter. He couldn't go after Mayu or Ixora. They were..still safe. Even if Mayu doesn't want her protection. Her eyes drifted closed as she concentrated on what she was doing.

The day passed far too fast and she slowed into a halt. Her arms ached in a pleasant burn as they hanged loose at her sides. Sweat claimed her in cold grace. Heavy breath escaped her chest and her eyes opened to look up to the coloring sky.

Things Denise said...

She wanted to talk to Denise some more. Not just about Yoki and how to help Toby. She wanted to know more of her time with Toby. What he said. After all she did say Toby hadn't told her everything.

Shaking her head she snapped the blades into one and shoved them into the baldric. Blankets and such gathered she started back in and folded them. Setting them aside she went into the task of taking up a shredded piece of cloth. He..had used part of these cloths against her brow after shadow-stepping. Her eyes drifted closed. They felt almost bittersweet...

Shaking her head she gathered the bowl and after cleaning it she filled it with clean water and started scrubbing the mattress. His blood. It would start to stain the clean water a dark shade of brown. It eased the scent so it wouldn't fill the cabin. Once she was done the mattress was flipped and the bed remade. Once done and the pillows set she stared at the bed.

She felt she could pass out again but she couldn't.

She needed to wait for Denise.

Once more the figure broke through the fringe of moist, naked foliage. Sans that which shrouded her in shadow for so many days previous, flaxen locks spilled free, dusting leather encased thighs with a feather soft touch. Left shoulder and side concealed by a shroud whose hue matched that of the leather armor barely covering curves of deceptive femininity. Digits met the wood of the cabin door once near enough, pushing it inward with but the lightest of touches.

The smaller female was still standing next to the bed and staring rather somberly at the freshly made bed. At some point she had, also, removed the pot so things within the cabin were settling down scent wise. Steps were heard first but there was no real attempt to move just yet. It could only be one person after all. Something was roaming that brain of hers and she ..didn't want it. It made her chest ache. Unknowingly she was forcing her knuckles against her chest, over her heart. It was almost : a kitten's kneading but not as affectionate as it should be.

"Well... what have we here. I daresay you do indeed have your uses," not closing the door, but stepping inward from it... allowing the crisp outside air to rush within to aid that which the woman had already started. "Is something the matter with your chest."

There was a slow twitch of Katt's head that shook the chocolate strains. Uses? She didn't bother asking but rather addressed the second half. A brief hint of confusion before she realized when she was doing. Eying her fingers she pressed them into her skin. "No. Just..thinking. W..Welcome back."

"Hmph. It is a nostalgic sight, I must say. You remind me of that child, though it is no surprise the reasons why you do." Right hand settled around the thin hilt seen jutting above that respective shoulder. A swift Ssssshnk! of metal leaving its home of a sheath and the behemoth claymore was settled against the wall near the door. Slight shoulders rolled to adjust to the lacking weight.

It was simply a normal thing for Katt. The kiss of metal caused her left arm to twitch and lower to the angled hilt of her joint swords that acted, as of now, as a single entity. Scolding herself on such an old habit she relaxed the arm muscle so that it seemed her arm was falling to her side. "Why I do..?" Her attention was between Denise and her sword.

"Indeed. It is something that he also performed at certain times, though I knew not why. Had I cared more, I would have inquired." Slender tips of fingers drifted across her brow, brushing pale bangs aside. Beyond that simple movement, her form remained still, gaze resting on the smaller woman before her. "You love the child, it is not impossible, therefore, for you to acquire mannerisms," added nonchalantly, noting she hadn't quite satisfied Katt's question.

Katt's eyes drifted away from both Denise and the blade. Head drifting side to side she never realized she did it. But..Toby had while he was there? "It..hurts sometimes. I was stabbed here around Christmas and when my heart aches..it really..aches.." She wasn't sure how else to explain it. Slowly her eyes lowered more, following the line of the sheets. Loved him..

"Is that so. Perhaps his own pained him as well. I have noticed your apparent upright position, as well as the show you put on previously within this very clearing. Am I to assume to feel better than when you arrived." Right arm crossing over her torso beneath the shroud, gloved digits wrapping about her side.

Katt's shoulders shot forward like a child being scolded from their hand in the cookie jar. She was there?! Shoulders slowly relaxed and the hand that had been clawing at her chest drifted to her bangs and rubbed at her hairline. "I suppose." And yet she was still very pale. Sickly looking even. But..moving around so it was a start. A sharp turn upon heels had her facing Denise and a smile was granted towards the silver-eyed one. "Thank you for the food that was awaiting my rise."

Denise lifted her arm, palm facing Katt for but a moment before settling back down from where it came. "There is no need for such. I had said there would be food, and thus, there was. However, you are welcome," last three words sounding foreign falling from pale lips.

The hand at her hairline slipped down and she stared at Denise briefly. Question swarmed with no line. "How long had you been watching?"

The corners of those lips twitched as if attempting at some sort of amused set. "Long enough. You are no stranger to a blade, I am left to wonder how it was that one such as you were to be claimed by the Eater."

"I was brought up as nothing more then a weapon to those who I was property to." The words came flat and toneless. Denise's words struck up memories and a hand raised to her cheek to rub idly. "I was ambushed." There was no other way to put it. Slowly a frown began to crease at her lips.

Denise's chin lowered in a slight nod. "As it most always happens. I do not believe that is much to be ashamed of. Your presence here must count for something." As the first comment from the woman was of no importance to the current words being exchanged, she let them die off in the air without a response.

"It is normal for a 'Eater' to ambush?" Katt's hand lowered, fingers curling to the crook of her neck and shoulder. "I have a few questions for you. When and if you are willing."

"Voracious Eaters are indeed smarter, more calculating, and more dangerous than their mere Yoma counterparts, for they were once human and one of our ranks," gentle shuffles from hard soles of thigh high boots that scraped wood beneath her, and a lean was affirmed beside her both hated and treasured blade. "They therefore know of us and what will inevitably happen to them if they are stupid and make mistakes. Ambushing one's prey is a rudimentary skill to any hunter." A slender brow quirked up on her smooth forehead, an expression of intrigue gifted to Katt, along with a silent nod.

"A hunter rarely tortures their prey. I daresay sometimes Tylor was far too affectionate towards me. He took pride in stripping me both physically and mentally." Her skin started to crawl very unpleasantly. Settling down to sit on the edge of the bed she stared at the floor, thinking back to those days. She told Toby everything but he'd much forget it then really listen. And she wasn't going to bore Denise with details.

"You are correct. For most, the thrill of the chase it enough to arouse pleasure throughout one's senses, but for one that calls itself an Awakened Being, most standards set down by the law of nature do not apply and such should not be compared to them." Quicksilver gaze narrowing only slightly, a hawk watching the movements of a mouse within tall grass. "You said that you have questions for me, and I have already stated that whilst I am here, I shall do my best to provide responses. I must warn you, however, such may not be true for much longer. You may ask what you will when you are ready," brief further narrowing of eyes, an expression which she was forced to shift towards that of the hearth.

Katt nodded slowly and measured the importance of her questions. Tongue crept along her teeth behind sealed lips before settling. Lips parted in a sigh. "Can you tell me of the events of the time you two spent together? If he's not told me everything I find myself a bit curious." It was...not as important as the others but it was important..to her.

Stone-like facial set then shifting to one of surprise, albeit contained. Flaxen head turns back to regard Katt for several long heartbeats before Denise even contemplates an answer. "I must first learn of what he has told you, for a repetition of such will serve no purpose."

Her lips pressed together and a look shot across her face that could only be considered totally painful. It caused a lump in her throat. I..c-can't...lose you..Her throat flexed as she attempted very hard to shove Toby's voice out of her head. "Uh.." Her voice strained as she forced it down harder. "That..you found him in a cave and took him here. Took care of him. He then asked you to help him.." She felt something wet on her cheek and quickly raised a hand to swipe away the rogue tear. "He was..very vague."

"He was truthful, for that was the most of what transpired in this location. During those nights, I was tracking that of a strong concentration of yoki that was always on the move. When I could feel such no longer, I assumed that whomever possessed it was suppressing their aura. The last location I felt it in was the cave of which both of you speak. I found the child and brought him here with me," gaze traveling back to the mantel as words were spoken. "His injuries were vast and only partially healed, as if he tried to keep himself from death, though at a painstakingly slow pace. I extracted three knives from his person which were soaked in the taint of another, one of which was lodged within his spine and rendered his legs mere sacks of meat attached to his hips. I am not aware of how he was able to regain the use of them, but once he did, he asked me for help, and I gave it to him. The next days were riddled with training, tears and panic attacks, mostly from that child."

As Denise spoke more was remembered. She was acknowledging most of what he said. She nodded slowly. "Panic attacks.." The memory of him collapsing into such when he thought she didn't want to see him again came to mind. How..ironic wasn't it? Hands bowled in her lap then slowly curled into fists. "Is..it possible for one who does not posses yoki to sense such? I..found out.." Late.."That Toby feels..ill when a yoma is near?"

Flaxen head tilted to the side, expression curious... as was the set of the lean she was now fixing upon the wall at her back. "If you ask for the possibility that one such as you should be able to perform such, I regret to inform you that no, it is not possible. However, this realm is quite a puzzle within itself, though I have no interest in experimenting," a wry smile briefly twisted her mouth. "Only beings such as I, my comrades, and others that possess yoki are able to. Make no mistake that while the child barely has any Yoma flesh in his system, he does indeed have it, and is thus able to use it. The nausea that he experiences, I am told, is very common amongst those who have not been trained in the proper use of their yoki. Also, in his case, he fights the sensation of the resonance he feels, and it backfires on his body. I have already explained such to him. I see now that he did not listen."

Slowly Katt's head shook and the frown on her lips started to grown. That explained a few things. "He..was acting odd a few days ago and I thought it was ..something else. It started to get worst and I told him we should go home. Apparently a yoma had been following him around during the day and made itself known. He..was far too busy emptying his stomach and too weak to move to even run.." Her features softened. She wondered..was he safe now? Hands turned in and she started to fiddle with the misty ring that wrapped her finger.

"Hmph, is that so. A mere Yoma caused such to happen?" a sound akin to a scoff broke through her lips, white teeth exposed in a sneer she directed at the flames in the hearth. "Why you continue to defend and possess feelings for one such as he is a mystery to me."

Katt's eyes closed slowly. She couldn't...really defend it. Maybe Denise was right. Head dipped down more at the terrible ache. As if her heart was stabbed once again. "Is it true what he says. That Yoma always lie to mess with your head?"

Some moments of observation were taken, pale forelocks disturbed along with the fire from a breeze that smelled of rain. "I have not thought of such. Yoma, to me, are things which I killed and nothing more. They do not speak other than insults and useless garbage. But, once again, if you are referring to your Eater, anything is possible... that is if he really was as unhinged as you claim him to be."

"No. The yoma that approached us a few nights back..He told me something. Something that had me thinking. Something that I probably allowed to fester too long. My mood became effected by it." Her eyes panned up towards Denise and her chin craned.

"It is best not to dwell on things which things that are less than beings say to you," chin tilting, mercury gaze leveled blankly upon Katt. "They are not worth your attention save for the energy needed to dispatch them."

Katt nodded slightly. Maybe she was being over worried. With Denise's words she found she was able to place that worry away. "All right." Eyes turned away and the pupiless greens focused on the flames.

Denise didn't believe that question to be the very end of the interview. The woman was solely watched as thoughts formed connections within her brain, her own questions forming... things that she wouldn't let onto until the oppurtune moment.

Her eyes drifted partly closed. She found herself still lacking the strength she wanted to face things. She was afraid of losing..everything. Losing him. It wasn't fair. Willing herself not to cry she turned her eyes towards Denise. "I am glad he met you. That you were able to help him. Teach him. I..really wanted to help him but.." Her lips pursed and she glanced at her hands. At the ring that gleamed against her pinky. "I want to learn how to help him use his yoki. To control it."

A slow smile began to spread upon Denise's mouth, one that once it reached its fullest form held absolutely no mirth, nothing but amusement at another's expense. Once more, her head turned towards the flames crackling in the hearth. "As I have stated previously, such can only be done by him and him alone. Only he will know his own limits. But another's presence is a luxury that most are fortunate to possess. Those that do not have such have had worse fates."

Another's presence. The..guess he didn't need her after all. He had ..Mayu. Looking up she noticed Denise..smiling. Well that was creepy. Nodding slowly she tried to figure what brought that along. "Is there a way to bring him out of it if he ..starts to lose control though? Ah..mmrmmm..Nevermind." She figured that part out on her own. He.. had to do it himself.

"I don't have an answer for that question as each individual possesses differences and traits unique to themselves. What will work for one will not work for another and so on," she continued to speak despite Katt's protest. "Whilst that child was in my presence, he began to lose himself once. I struck him, and such seemed to provide the necessary incentive to stop. If I had to place a guess, Toby's cause for return may be physical pain."

Her lips twitched faintly as she listened to Denise. She..called Toby by his name. Not..child. It stopped though thinking about striking Toby. If..she had to. If she had to to stop him.. She nodded. She didn't...think he would awaken. He wanted to be pushed. But then again..He ..didn't need her. Hands curled together and she pressed her knuckles tightly into her palm. "What..was said on the parchment."

"You said such was taken from the coat that you have with you?" turning a now curious gaze to Katt and the mattress upon which she sat, looking for the leather garment she herself had searched through. "Have you not been able to see it in the past?"

Katt's head shook a single time. "The pockets were empty when I took it so I assume whatever parchment you are indicating he had removed. I..didn't know of it until you spoke of it."

"I was speaking of just one, and if it is the same that he has removed from his coat before giving it to you, I can only conclude that he does not wish the information upon it to be revealed." Denise gave pause, for but a moment. "I told you previously that it detailed what sort of process goes into creating a being such as I, or that child. It is no mere leaflet of information, it is the notes made by those which infused the Yoma flesh into his system. Everything during a seven day period that was done, and what he experienced, is written there."

It was absolutely no surprise to Katt that he kept something from her. Something like this though. Her hands tightened. Why.. He already knew she could handle it. That she knew almost as much as he. Knew..the pain. Slowly she nodded and forced herself to relax her hands. "I..see.."

Denise pushed from the wall in a fluid motion, steps ringing out upon the floor as hard soles crushed their grain. Her path was to the slight fan of kindling still spread before the stove. A few small logs were hooked with gloved fingers, tossed aside into the flames which sparked and roared all the more.

Katt watched Denise wondering how long Denise would allow her to keep company. Maybe she could..just stay there. "If you want to see him why not visit the city? I can tell you where you can probably find him.."

"I had expressed such a sentiment only for the reason that his dog was still present here, and I did not wish to care for it," pushing logs further into the fireplace with the toe of a boot, gaze falling upon those three knives that remained on the mantel. "It is enough to learn that he did not perish because since he failed to keep his composure when that of a simple Yoma came to call on him, I may not be able to restrain myself from showing him real danger for his idiocy."

"He was trying to protect me. He didn't want me to worry. Granted I don't agree with him..I rather you not lay a hand on him." It came slowly afterwards. "He..wishes to see you though.."

"Is that so," fore and middle finger of Denise's right hand extending, straightening the stone knife on the far left so its tip pointed perpendicular to the wall. "I wonder why..."

Katt noticed the knife and her body shuddered. That question from earlier came up. "His..reasons...I couldn't tell you. Maybe to tell you thank you in person? To make sure you are okay?" She released a slow sound as she stared at the knife. "Even though they are no longer apart of Tylor..do they still resignate of him? Or would the yoki fade if he were dead?"

"These weapons came from him?" asked in Katt's direction though Denise did not turn to offer her a glance to accompany it. Instead, she chose the knife she had just touched, lifting it up before her own face and briefly touched the flat of it to her bottom lip. She then peered intently at it. "I assumed this was a knife made from mere stone, though it was indeed curious that they were tainted. They do not, however, tell me anything. If they were a part of him, as you say, the once they had ceased being such, the yoki which resided in them would fade... for it is not being replenished. They are now simple weapons, and only that."

Katt nodded carefully. She remembered Tylor pulling them out his flesh to use them against her. Burying them in. Her eyes fluttered and a hand lowered to rub her torso. "Mrmm...He..hurt Toby for trying to save me.."

"Hmm. The pieces then fall into place... I did not know the reasons as to why he was paralyzed within a cave, nor did I ask. I had the idea, however, that it had something to do with his situation," setting the knife back down with its fellows.

Katt's eyes drifted closed and squeezed. Hand found it's way back to her chest. Turning her head jerked sharply away from Denise. She created a low sound akin to that of a whimper. Why..did he have to change when they returned back to these damned lands? Why..couldn't he of stayed how he was to her. Why did he have to .."Mrmmm."

Turning upon her heel, Denise watched the woman attempt to burrow a hole through her own chest. Right arm sliding before her stomach, fingers curled around her side once again in rest. "Why do you ask such questions and speak of such things if it bothers you this much."

She swallowed sharply. "Because..he changed as soon as we got back. Once I was safe..he ..changed. The Toby you talk about..would of never told me to ..stay away from him. He told me he ..c..couldn't lose me.. He knew I was trying to recover from things. He told me to take my time. That he would..protect me. (vsw) And yet here I am..and it hurts."

"Ones such as I, and he, do not know the benefits of telling lies, and so we do not. Although, that is my assumption from the little I have observed of his character that was not a sniveling excuse," adopted tone mildly scolding. "I am therefore left to assume that the child did not lie to you when he told you those things, for I have seen for myself what that very idea had done to his pitiful psyche. Tell me, Katt, what color were the child's eyes when he told you this."

"I.." She blinked slowly at the question and attempted to remember back to that day. She didn't..want to. Toby didn't lie. "He has a very bad tendency to.." She sighed and shook her head. That..wasn't the question. "They..were yellow. He was angry because I upset Mayu. Because Mayu..gave him back his gift. At least that is what I think she threw at him in her..fit."

"Then have you given thought to the possibility that his request that you 'stay away from him' have something to do with such? After all, both of us know that he has little to no control over his own body. Perhaps the child was merely trying to protect you again, from himself, if he really was as enraged as it seems. Emotions do, in fact, play a great part in that which resides within all of us," slight shoulders shifting in a shrug that denoted her lack of interest in either case. "It is me rely my own take on the situation."

Katt swallowed heavily and shook her head. "He's never stared at me with such ..hatred. I want..to think that. Think he was trying to protect me from himself but..I don't think he would of. He knows I don't fear him. That I worry about him when he's away. I.." Her brows furrowed sharply. She found she wasn't sure. But she knew.."He..hated me.."

"You say that you love this child and the lacking faith you have in him is quite sad. I have witnessed those beings which trust and believe in each other implicitly to the point that I am sickened," flaxen head turning towards the wide open door as another slight breeze scuttled over the floorboards and across her exposed flesh. "Tell me, do you always think the worst of situations?"

"I do not do it without reason. Toby has a nasty habit of ..saying one thing one moment then saying another when it suits him or because..he doesn't want to deal with anything that upsets him. In fact most things that upset him he just..'forgets'. He doesn't deal with things. And I do not think the worst all the time but I know hatred when I see it. And he's..never looked at me like that before. Even when..we were young.."

A breath of the cool air taken, then let out silently prior to steps leading her towards the threshold of the door... upon which she stopped. The shroud draping over Denise's left side, along with her waterfall of pale hair, were disturbed with each breeze that touched them. "I see. So long as you aren't feeling this way to garner attention, tip the scales in your favor as it were. Since you have stated that he seems to always take the side of this Mayu woman."

Katt wondered if that was even possible. Looking at the ring around her finger she began to fiddle with it. "Do you think it would be wise for me to stand up against her? Tell her to stop using Toby against me?"

"I think it would be wise to find out if that was the true intent of this woman or not. For you have told me many things about her, and I also feel the same sense of truth from her words as I do from that child's. Because if such is not true, the results could very well be disastrous," chin tilting enough so as to regard the woman over her right shoulder. "I think you should approach this situation with your head, instead of your emotions. They don't serve any purpose but turn you into a blob of useless pitiful wetness."

"Mayu has told me she has no interest in Toby.. " She shifted slightly and shook her head. "But..Mayu's..I saw her flirt that very day with a man. Told him she would be lucky to bring a boyfriend like him home. Then turned around and fussed at me because I thought she was interested in the fella. She told me she had no interest in relationships. She's done kissed Toby twice, that I know of but has no interest in him? It's..sending him mixed signals." Her lips pursed and she glanced up. "I don't know ..mrmmm.." She seemed to be thinking off on her own.

A noise akin to a grunt vibrated within Denise's throat, mercury hued eyes lifting briefly to the heavens. "I did not mean her true intent towards that child, I meant her true intent towards you. For this situation has stemmed from harsh words she has spoken about your own character. It has nothing to do with anyone's feelings towards anyone else, it has to do, solely, with what prompted her to make such accusations. If she was trying to turn that child against you, or to bring light shortcomings about yourself that you may not be aware of, or may be, but have yet to do anything about. However. I do not know why I am conversing about such with you. Even if this is directly related to the reasons why you are here, I very much doubt that it has anything, whatsoever, to do with keeping that child in check."

She flinched as she thought of Mayu. "I ..don't know her true intentions towards me. Since. ....what happened at Christmas.." She was hesitant about that. Chewing on her bottom lip she wondered if that was where it stemmed from. But maybe Denise was right. Slowly she sighed. "It has to do with my feelings. She's nothing but jumped down my throat since my return. About little things she claims aren't even important. Then if they aren't why must she make me feel so ..small? I just want to be happy with them and have really, really been trying hard.."

"If you have failed so far, it merely means that you are not trying hard enough. Whilst I do not doubt your experience with the Eater was no walk in the proverbial park, I shall repeat what I have throughout your stay... you are, quite obviously, still here. That child helped you from your predicament, but the fact that you were alive when he arrived to do so does indeed count for something," flaxen head slowly turning, bangs drifting to fall and conceal her left eye. "If you were strong enough to fight through and survive such, you are strong enough to handle these situations and emotions... useless as they are."

"Emotions aren't useless. They are a strength." It was spoken without a doubt. Silver eyes were glanced at. "My mind..was weary. But I guess recovery only goes so far. I will..try better as you say. As I ..told her." Her head turned away and she stared at the far wall. Mentally torn apart she couldn't really expect anyone to understand. She would just have to stick it out.

"Hmph. That, I sincerely doubt. You do not get anywhere harboring feelings for any such thing. But, my own ways are not your own, and I shall not waste my time impressing such upon you," head turning back, silver gaze lifting once more to the sky, though remaining there for a period of time.

"Denise? After I leave. Will it be all right if I visit you?" She wasn't going to press into the subject of how she felt about..feelings. Her mind was already on what to do to..change. Hopefully Mayu just didn't want her all hopping, skipping around. She couldn't help the reserveness.

"It matters not to me what you do with your own time. If you venture here, however, you will most likely find this place abandoned. I have no set domicile as of right now," digits hidden by the shroud slid down to rest now upon her hip.

"I see. I would..like to call you friend. A comrade to call upon if you ever feel the need. That, of course, is your choice. I extend my thanks also for your kindness towards me. Listening and aiding me with your words." It was actually refreshing. To have a view that wasn't jumped or forced upon her. Simply..a outward view. "I do not take friends lightly, please understand. If I do so..there is..trust."

"From your involvement with that child, I shall also assume that you know of my own comrade, Lisa... and have made your own conclusions on those women that call themselves warriors. Our views of humans are almost as low, if not lower, than their own of us. I trust you will keep that in mind if you so choose to deem me friend. For I do not do so, and have not in some time," a step and a half turn, the frame of the open door now resting between shoulderblades. "However, you seem to be saying this as if to merely give me the option. Such has been noted."

"I would not force friendship upon you. But my offer of assistance remains regardless. And yes I know Lisa. Sort of. She knew me when we all were younger. Before Toby was..changed. She doesn't remember me now and that is fine. But she was the first person I searched out in order to help Toby." Arms folded her head slowly started to dip down. Jaw tightening she inhaled sharply. "She still remains within the city limits?" curiosity seeping into the otherwise bland tone that had, up until then, been used for speech. Katt was regarded with the same expression easily discernible on strong, scarred features. "Or did you have to travel far to get in touch with her."

"I called out to her in the forest not far from here. However, from what I have been told.." Katt's chin tipped to one side with a very thoughtful look. "She has made an appearance in town a few times to ..talk with Toby. If you wish to call it such."

"Is that so..." From how the woman spoke of her, Lisa was very much alive. Denise couldn't be sure whether or not her comrade was informed of what had happened within her own group. If she remembered correctly, Lillia was one of Rorel's charges, the same as Lisa. Thoughtful furrow of slender brows and purse of lips followed those mere three words.

Katt saw this and a fine brow began to climb. "If you do not want me to inform anyone of your presence here that I can do. I just request to be able to tell Toby so he can find you." She knew that Denise was wanted..like Toby. Caution was something to favor.

"Hmm. I appreciate that," pensive tone used to speak. "You may do so when you see him again, for I have no doubt that you will. But he will have the same issues locating me as you will if you choose to search for me here. However," looking out towards the clearing and the sparse grass sprouting from mounds of filthy snow, melting snow. "I may also seek them out. I have not yet decide on what I shall do."

"Seek...'them'?" A hint of worry began to creep in. "Toby would very much like to see you. M..Maybe you could...come with me." She didn't like the idea of Denise leaving of on her own. She..didn't deserve to be alone even if she was the sort that would rather be alone.

"Are you concerned for my safety, Katt," something other than mere thoughtfulness lacing her words, form relaxing slightly into the frame of the door on which she was leaning.

"Yes." The answer was easily offered up. She watched Denise relax and her head tilted to one side.

"And why is that," quicksilver gaze trained on a cluster of trees across the clearing, flicking around to others periodically.

"Because you are kind and have not only stretched out a hand to help Toby but myself..You have helped me when I needed it the most. I consider you a possible friend and someone I would protect if needed. It..worries me that you are hunted. N..None of them are your..friends are they?"

Pale features momentarily darkened in a frown, something that Denise leveled upon the woman, but it did not seem to remain in place. "I daresay I am surprised... You hardly know me, what I have done, or what I am capable of and there you sit worried for my well being. Such isn't necessary. I have been engaged in many battles, with Yoma and comrade alike and I have prevailed. As for your query of whether or not they are my friends... I do not know if the Organization knows that I am still alive. I was deemed suitable for elimination, and they have heard nothing of me since. However, one cannot always be sure of such. It is a possibility that, yes, most might be those that I once knew."

"As I said I am picky of those I call friend. I do not make the choice lightly. You may not deem it necessary but it is still there." A small smile was offered up as if to counter the hard frown that was sent her way. "And if you need my assistance then it will be there." Her lips thinned at the thought of Denise being pitted against her friends. Such was never a pleasant thing. Lack of emotion or not.

"Indeed. I, like you, only wish for you to understand that I don't think such will be needed. I do not intend to face any such opponent any time soon. I am merely an observer, nothing more than a civilian as of now," nodding to Katt, then turning a focused silver gaze back out towards the trees which surrounded them.

A respectful bow of Katt's head was granted in respond and she slowly stood in order to join in the air but kept a respective distance. "Do you..view me as human?"

"No, I do not. Now that I think on it, viewing you as such would be a stretch. Humans are not as sturdy and do not survive that which you have endured," wry smile briefly turning the corners of pale lips upward.

She nearly pouted but slowly nodded. It was actually to be expected. Hands settled behind her back, clasped at the small of her back by the latch of her left hand to right wrist. But she found it..again, refreshing. As strange as it was. With Toby able to accept what she was..maybe she was able to do so as well.

Denise basked in the silence now settling on the cabin, and in the dying light of the sky behind trees that looked like veins, sewing up into the clouds. Pleasantly warm though it was, night would soon be upon them. "Have you asked me all the questions you had planned?"

"I have one more but I find myself reluctant to ask. So for now I will hold my tongue. Maybe on the morrow." She didn't ask if Denise had any because quite frankly Denise seemed the sort to ask when and where she wanted. No sooner.

"You should do so now, since I do not plan to stay in the vicinity for much longer," pale head turning, spying Katt standing nearer to her than she thought the woman would have dared.

A side long glance was made towards Denise and a strange lil smile quirked the corner of her lips. "A spar."

"Is that so?" queried with more curiosity than the last few times she had spoken such words. "And why, may I ask, would you want that?"

"I wish to see your skills of the sword. Since I will obviously never see in real battle..Besides..I am rather curious how I'd hold out." A single shrug followed as she looked forward. The air was..nice.

"And you do not think you are too fragile at the moment for such a venture. That is quite interesting. I shall make such thoughts obsolete for you," nigh on gentle tile of the head in Katt's direction, the woman regarded with, on any other face, would be described as condescension. "You would not hold out."

"That's why I said maybe on the morrow. I still..need something in order to fully recover." Her eyes flicked down and there was a hint of a frown that followed. "I am very aware of my state." It pained her to think about doing what was needed. An animal of the forest? She didn't..need much.

"At least now I know what your last question was, and have had the ability to answer it. I have already stated that whilst I was here, I would do my best to do so," unclasping leathered fingers from her side and reaching for the hilt that looked too thin and delicate to hold a blade such as hers. Denise affirmed a tight grip and swiftly stowed the weapon in the sheath upon her back, stepping from the threshold of the cabin out into the early dusky air.

How badly Katt wanted to assess that weapon of Denise's. It was a nagging sensation. Shaking it away her hands loosened from their clasp. "Are you leaving?"

"Originally, I had planned only to stay the night for I was, and still am, on the move. Having found you here, I decided to halt my personal plans for a time, though I do not think I should continue to do so." Right arm lifting to gather the thin fall of flaxen hair, draping it over a shoulder. Digits then dropped to the extra swath of material lying atop her left shoulder and arrange it over her head, midnight shadows immediately concealing that which would easily define her identity. "There are beasts moving within this forest that I have been seeking recently. There are not many, and tend to travel separately. They are too strong to be that child or that of any of my comrades, lest they are suppressing themselves, and are indefinitely too weak to be that of any Voracious Eater. However, they do seem to be traveling, somewhat, in the same direction."

Stronger then any of her comrades but weaker then a Eater. Katt watched Denise curiously for a few moments but eventually slowly gave a dip of her chin. "Then if I do not see you again.. Please be safe until next we meet. And do remember..my offer remains. If you need me you can normally find me in the marketplace of the city. At the fountain. Just..in case.." She shrugged a bit and continued to watch Denise. There was a touch of worry behind her eyes. Would she see the woman again?

"I shall keep such in mind. And I feel it prudent to tell you that I am glad you do not seem to wish to continue hiding here," pale lips forming a brief curve of a smile prior to an almost lazy pivot on her right heel. The lethargy spread through in the pace Denise set for herself, her shadowed form slowly heading after that which she had just sensed.

She licked her bottom lip and tilted her head to look into the cabin. Should she leave soon or..Turning her head back quickly she watched as Denise was swallowed up by the night air. Lips tightened into a frown. "Be safe.." Murmuring with a sigh she stepped back and closed the door. A mountain of information and emotion laid on her mind and yet as she turned towards the bed she found herself ..feeling light. The coat was taken up and the collar toyed with. Did he really do it...maybe..to protect her? Murmuring to herself she crawled into the bed, not under the covers but rather on them. Curling into the coat she allowed it to be her warmth while she basically..passed out. Zonk!

Waking up in the afternoon was something she didn't want. Her head pounded with a thud that made her eyes throb. "Gnahh.." Rolling over she attempted to hide under the coat while rubbing at the space between her brows with her forefinger and her thumb across her cheek and temple. Looking up at the ceiling she stared up at it.

She wanted things to be happy. Between herself and Toby. Between herself and Mayu. She wanted..things to be happy.

She wanted to see Mayu smile and laugh again.

She wanted..Well what she wanted between herself and Toby..

Her eyes stared weakly at the ceiling. Could he of really been protecting her from himself?

Her hand lowered to her neck, fingers trailing in a straight line until she felt the dip. She wanted to believe it. To believe that the hatred behind his eyes were ..

Shaking her head she swung her legs off the side of the bed and forced herself to sit up. She found herself with more question but the biggest was ..what should she do? Approach him? Approach Mayu? Or just..wait. Wait where she can be found and wait respectfully..

She wanted them to be happy. She would be happy with them. She'd try not to worry so much. Try not to ...

Moving to the pot over the fires it was grabbed by the old handle. It was still filled rather well. A bit of it would be poured into the waiting bowl before she moved outside and tossed the remains to the corner of the building for nature to feast or decompose. As she stared at the dark brown seep into the ground she smiled a bit. Denise..had helped her quite a bit. She was fortunate to be found by the silver-eyed woman.

Shaking her head she turned back to slip back into the cabin. It would be tidied up. Eating was a slow process. Still not what she needed but ..she didn't want to think of that either. She could deal with the pain for a bit longer. She ..couldn't sit around anymore. She needed to..go.

Fire put out, bowl cleaned, and the rest of the water tossed out to the grass. She found herself lingering in the doorway staring off in the direction Denise had went. She could handle herself she just hoped that Denise remembered....She wasn't alone..There was at least one person thinking of her and her well being.

She found herself hoping to one day meet the woman again..

Right now though. It was time to head back. Her heart thudded sharply in her ears. She was..nervous.

Stepping out the door was grasped and pulled with her as she started off.

She was nervous..

But she wanted to see him. She wanted to know....
