Making sure that it won't break and disappear
I just want to treasure this feeling I have now
Dreams and hopes are overflowing from those hands held together
That's what I believe in so
I can continue on without getting lost

There isn't anything that overwhelms this feeling but
I do become sad at times when we get near
I just don't want to be taken only by things I can see

Don't speak with sweet and kind words
Because it stings my heart and make me want to cry
Because you're always by me and giving me strength
And because you're protecting me
I want to sing

The time spent together just makes me happy
I want to feel this destiny with you now
I can't tell you, but there are days I want you to embrace me
I'm attracted towards you so much
I can't help it

A certain warmth could be felt through that cheek that settled so nestled in it's place. Only a few hours had passed or that's how it felt yet rest had been disrupted by some nagging at the back of her mind and she roused but barely so. Slow rhythm of breath rocked her and a strong beating of a heart not her own filled her ears. Slowly eyes drifted upward without the need to raise her chin. He was fast asleep or what seemed to be. Either that or napping, it was hard to tell with him.

A slow smile crept into place and she nuzzled that cheek against the firm surface of his chest. The smile faded a little as she glanced along his chest, gaze finally resting on the vial.

I don't ever want you to leave, or go away. I always want to see you. *Always.* And I know that you're not going to just get up and do it. But there's a difference..between wanting that, and not wanting to keep you from doing something you want to..

Those words, even a few days cold, still swam around in her mind. Along with some other words that he had said that night. She wasn't quite sure where the sudden spur of words came from and she still found herself thinking them and his actions that followed. Thinking of them very heavily. Under other conditions she might of thought something different of them. But she knew better..

She knew better then to even attempt at hoping..

But that was okay! That didn't mean the words didn't have a warming effect on her heart. It was comforting too even if she didn't really completely believe him. But...with the past could he really expect her to just accept his words at full face value? He had a horrible track record of changing his mind on a whim and of course the whole withdrawal thing. The past riddled with reason to make her question the measure of truth that came with his words. But they were still welcomed. They still made her feel important.

The hand against his chest shifted, fingers curling in the gesture he had done. Stuck together. She wanted to believe that. Stuck together. Her lips twitched faintly when she remembered his words defying her own..

Well I think in the future we may have to become a little unstuck..But that doesn't mean I still won't be around

No, we don't.. Stuck is good..

She stared at her crossed fingers against his chest with a quite little chuckle. A quite little sigh escaped her soon after and she settled back into the warmth that bathed her. She could just enjoy the moment and try not to dread what would eventually come to pass again. They were not as inseparable as the words made it seem but it was a nice pipe dream.

Eyes drifted closed and a small sigh escaped her. Dreams were for the dreamer. And that was what she was suppose to be doing right? Sleeping...dreaming...

She hadn't been sleeping well and she couldn't help but wonder why as she started to drift back into slumber. She also, by his own words, haven't been eating normally. Been eating less. She wasn't upset. In fact she was quite happy and why wouldn't she be?

Mayu was completely and totally in love. Without a doubt her little ..sister? was completely and utterly in love. Constantly she found herself mentally squeeing for Mayu. Even if Mayu didn't see or feel her as a sister any longer, that sisterly protection remained ever intact for the younger female.

Ixora was going to see her mother. Family was important. It was a good thing she was going! And she was going to keep true to her word. If Ixora came back hurt she was going to kick everyone's rear end that was on the ship!

And she... She was at her best friend's side where it was nice and warm. Safe...

Maybe she needed more blood but the idea of feeding from him again so soon saddened her for some reason. She was taking too much from him. Even if he offered it...

Slowly her body began to sink into that wanted place, feeling a touch fuzzy as sleep began to creep back in. She could sleep...

...for a little longer...

.: June 9th - Afternoon :.

First we touched and we heard each other
Then we tear our hearts apart
We are too close and I can feel the pain
Fill my empty heart

Is this pain too much for me?
Can I stay the same?
When this pain consumes my heart
Will I be able to hold on to myself?

Kindness is something I don't want or need
The sunshine would just dissolve me into light
Give me a pain as pleasing as your sight
So I can feel you all the day and night
And keep me from fading away....

Even when we behold each other
Somehow our eyes do not meet
And when you hold me in your strong embrace
Still I feel no heat

But it gives me such delight
To feel you close at night
I know I am true to myself
Though it comes deep into my heart sometimes

Kindness is something I don't want or need
The sunshine would just dissolve me into light
Give me a pain as pleasing as your sight
So I can feel you all the day and night
And keep from fading away....

Among the field of flowers and trees, beneath the moonlights beautiful glow she stood with a familiar face. A smile looked as if it were about ready to split his face. His aqua gaze stood out amongst the dark like two piercing jewels. He seemed happy..

The warmth of his hand, so gently cradling hers, gave peace to a weary mind and heart.

That warmth didn't last and grew cold, that hand clenching against hers painfully drew her attention to the figure at her side. Tan skin bled out, turning snowy white. The whiteness even swallowed up the uniquely shaded ginger without hesitation. Sparkling gold, wild and full of hatred stared down at her.

She knew these eyes.

They had glared at her before.

"No.." A gentle whisper melted from her lips and her body tensed up as the other hand swung around, grasping her throat and easily rising her from the ground. Feet kicked the air, trying to find support.

Hand released by his own the white, large hand met her back, clawing into the flesh and causing her to cry out in pain. A grin tore across his face, enjoying the agony caused. Then just like that she was dropped but hardly the end of her pain arrangement. Before she could curl up or escape a foot came crashing down once to her chest which caused a sickening cry of pain. The foot reared back and kicked her side, causing ribs to crack and her body soaring through the air.

She landed amongst the flowers, petals disconnecting from the steams to take flight in the night sky. She rolled a few feet among them before falling still, back towards the quickly approaching figure. A hand grasped at her shirt, pulling her limply from her rest. This hovering face glaring, hatred and the enjoyment of watching her writhe in agony like no other was set upon the white features.

Staring at the face she smiled faintly. There was a snarl even a few inches from her face but she didn't flinch. Shaken hands rose up to cradle the familiar face, no matter how distorted and lack of coloring. This was not Toby. This was...her fear...

"I'm ..not giving up...on you..." she smiled awkwardly to the figure who in return gave a bizarre look. A surprised yelp escaped her as she was dropped to the ground, spilled in a mess. Looking up she spied the figure stepping back. In his hand..

"No. Not again.." Pushing from her place she tried to get to him before it was too late. Why did the world spin so slowly as compared to moments before? It was too late. The dagger, spun of brilliance, was plunged into place, skewering his own heart. She couldn't even make it in time to ease his descend to the ground.

Knee taken to his side she felt tears rush their way down her cheeks. "No..."

The look on his face. There was color again and that smile. It was so..sad.. "No..."

The aqua colors of his eyes were dim and his breath so ragged. "No..."

She pawed vigorously for the vial only to find once it dangled from her fingers..it was empty. "No.."

Fingers grasped at the dagger, pulling it from it's warm place. Heart in her throat by the sound he made and the gush of warm vital that spouted from the wound. She took the dagger to her own wrist far too deep. Wrist forced between his lips she watched.

The breaths grew slow. He wasn't suppose to give up. This wasn't suppose to happen.

Not Again.

A cold dread settled into place when the last breath was released, his chest settling. There was no more movement. Her own blood seeped from the corner of his lips, overflowing his mouth.

She heard a distant rattle as the dagger was dropped to the ground, eyes staring wide in disbelief. "No.." Slowly her hands raised to her hair and she shook her head sharply back and forth. "No. Noo..NOOOO!"

Come on..

There was a gentle warmth across her cheek that swept back to her hair. Eyes fluttered open to find that body still laying before her. Where was the warmth coming from that was trying to coax her from her pain?

"You can wake up.. It was his voice tugging at her ears and yet the lips of the figure before her didn't move. The warmth cascaded down her, like a blanket wrapped around her. It felt..safe..

It's just a bad dream..

Just.. a bad dream? Her eyes fluttered open to look at the fallen once again only to find it was gone and replaced by a pair of ..bare feet. Blinking she slowly looked up the figure until she found ..his face. A cheerful smile set in place that threatened to swallow up his stare. A hand outstretched to her offered to help her to her feet. At first it was stared at but slowly she reached out, fingertips touching his own....

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A deep break was shakenly inhaled then released with a murmur. She began to rouse, hand under his relaxing and attempting to rise only to find that there was pressure against it. A few rounds of blinks would have her eyes lazily opening. A grunt and they closed. Bright light! Eyes still closed she tipped her head. There was warmth rather close. And that wasn't a paw on her hand! "Nuhhh..Toby?" Her throat was a bit dry.
"Mhm.. You did it, yay.." He grinned, ruffling at her sticky hair. "You had a bad dream.." He nodded, leaning back to sit straighter. "I didn't think you'd wake up this fast.."
She gave a lazy grunt when he ruffled her hair and she attempted to reach back and fix her already bed hair. Rolling onto her back she turned her hand to the one that was against hers while the other moved across her face. "Bad..dream?" She blinked. Her face was really wet. Using the back of her arm she started to wipe at it.
"Mhm.. You don't have to tell me about it.." He shrugged, ruffled his own hair. His other hand relaxed over hers. He didn't know how tense it had been. "It was just a dream though..so you're okay now.."
A yawn was produced so heavily that she shook head to toe. Attempting to hide it at the end she flopped back down. A light squeeze to his hand before hers retreated and both hands rubbed at her face. "Uhh...Yeah." As her heels pressed into the back of her eyes she jumped a bit and quickly shoved both hands down to look up at him. Pupiless greens focused up on his face, main target would be his eyes.
Toby grinned, pulled his hand back..scooted a bit more onto his side of the bed than hers, leaning back on his palms. He blinked as she looked up at him..his head tilting. He met her eyes. "What..?"
Was that all it had been? Just...A bad dream...?
In a dream I could see you are not far away.
Anytime, Anyplace. I can see your face.
You're that special one that I have been waiting for.
And I hope you're looking for someone like me.
In my dreams I can hear you calling me.
In the night, everything's so sweet.
In your eyes I feel there's so much inside.
In the nights, dream delight;
I want to see you standing there.
In the nights, dream delight;
I've found someone who really cares.
In the nights, dream delight;
I want to see your smile again.
In the nights, dream delight;
You're the one I waited for.
In a dream we can do everything we want to
There's no where I'd rather be but here with you.
The stars above light the way only for you and I.
I'm so glad I've found the one I've been looking for.
Of the one you're hoping for
Love can come through an open door.
Just be strong.
And you're sure to find the one,
the one, the one, the one.
The air was thick with mist but there was no way she couldn't tell whom it was that sat at her side. Sitting on the flat span of a cliff they were faced over a beautiful green vast of land. If it were not so misty they probably could of spied other colors. Legs drawn to his chest he was all but balled up from the edge, shoulders squared to keep himself balanced.
She sighed. It was peaceful but there were some things she just couldn't set aside.
"It's okay to hope, you know." his voice was soft to her ears.
She snorted quietly, feet bouncing off the edge of the cliff. Hope. He had told her to hope at one time. Then told her that he had hoped it would change. But it didn't. Lips curved down into a frown. "No. I can't hope." It finally came out with a sigh. She could see from the corner of her gaze that he started to frown as well.
"Why not?"
That..was such a stupid question and her head turned to give him a flat look.
Sheepishly he grinned at her and waved a hand. "You want to. We both know you do."
Scowling she looked away. He was right. She wanted to. She just..couldn't bring herself to do it. It was just a heartbreak waiting to happen. Again.
"I know you believe I am sorry. For everything done.."
She blinked slowly and lowered her chin. She did believe him. Why couldn't they be together. Why couldn't they be a couple like Mayu and Evelyn? Why couldn't they...
"Because I don't love you.." he stated simply and she blinked. Pupiless greens drifted over to him. How did he know what she was thinking? He grinned at her and she felt herself frown. Heavily. "We are confused.."
"Yeah.." Sighing she looked forward. She didn't feel like looking at him very much after that. It was okay. She could keep it bottled away. Even if she basically told him that she wanted to be his and he hers.
"You don't get it yet do you?" He inquired curiously, watching her intensely with those aqua jewels of his.
"What?" She murmured quietly. Her mind was in a whirl. If he didn't love her then why did he say all those things to her. If he's been feeling them why not tell her in the first place?
He chuckled at her and nudged into her shoulder softly. "Because I don't think it's fair, remember?"
She blinked and peered at him. "What the hell..?" He was peering back at her, grinning like a cheshire cat. "How isn't it fair? Do you or do you not want me to feel that way about you? If I did then wouldn't it be ..shared?"
He shrugged at her. "I don't know. I'm confused.." The grin faded into an also sad expression that tugged at her heart.
"That makes two of us." she sighed and leaned back.
"No. Only makes one of us." He sounded like if he was correcting her. He still received a confused look from her and soon enough he was grinning again. "You don't get it yet?" Inquired yet again.
"Get..what?" she asked very carefully.
"Really, Katt? Do you think we'd be sitting here in Silverymoon, by ourselves, talking about this so soon after-"
He was cut off by a choking sound. "Oh for the love of..I'm freaking dreaming?!"
He laughed at her squeaking voice.
A hand met her face roughly. "Well no wonder 'we' are confused! And why you keep seeming as if you are reading my mind!"
"Because I am you.."
Hearing him say that sounded-
"-Creepy" The both of them said at the same time. She laughed a bit nervously. "Geez.."
The both of them started laughing and looked out to the scenery.
"Do you really want to be mine?" He asked and she scowled him...herself..uh..Gawd it was confusing. "Heh." As if he knew she was confused. "I mean after you told me that you know I could change my mind."
"Yeah..I know." Drawing her knees to her chest she attempted to hide her face among her knees.
"Do you really want me to be yours?" Another question that was stupid.
Of course she did. But that hope was..
"It might be okay...I mean..I told you all that stuff and I kissed you. Maybe there is a chance in hell?" He raised a brow at her.
She shook her head, arms drifting over her head to hide herself. She didn't want to hear this. It was strange enough that she was attempting to persuade herself through HIS face!
"You do. You like the idea that there could be a sliver of chance. Of hope." He continued.
"Shut up.." She murmured. She felt his finger poke at her forehead suddenly.
He was laughing. It was warm and happy. "Oh come on you like the idea that there could be just a little chance that I c-"
"Shuddup!" She all but screamed. She didn't. She couldn't! "I don't want to! I don't want to believe there is a chance..Because it's not true. I could never be true.."
He was staring at her, finger lingering near her forehead. "You are afraid that it is true." Conclusion given voice. "Maybe I don't feel the way you do about me but there is something..Something I am confused about. Something I feel that I am not suppose to feel. Like that stuff I told you about me being jealous.." His shoulders raised slowly. "Maybe in time I will figure out what it is.."
"Time.." She murmured quietly. "You have all the time in the world. I am not..going to go anywhere. And ..my feelings for you are nicely bottled away.
"They aren't so bottled. And we both know it."
She whimpered quietly. "I'm trying. I don't..want you to feel guilty for not l-l...for not feeling the same way I do about you.."
"But I told you already. I don't feel guilty anymore." He reached out finally with that finger, poking at her forehead a number of times. Each time she grunted quietly.
"Brat.." That single word he hated so much but coming from her it was a term of endearment. Held quite a bit of affection when it was spoken.
.: June 23rd - Midnight / Early Morning :.
The past few days had been spent at the side of her best friend which she'd rather no other way. They not only kept each other company but they knew nearly everything about each other that at times they simply knew what each other was thinking.
Nearly everything..
She was learning newer things that he had apparently been hiding away. Been hiding them away really good in fact. Some things she never realized..
For one ..He didn't like other people touching her. Familiar or otherwise. He wanted that only for him. Color her surprised when Toby had told her that. Sure she understood about when it came to Tylor. That sort of went without saying but everyone else? It was a little hard to swallow at first.
Then there was this regret he spoke of when it came to their..past and the things he had done to her. Everything he did to push her away he regretted and even speaking of how it almost succeeded seemed to throw him into a very sad state of being.
There were also other things like his expression when she called him 'boy friend' in front of someone. Of course she didn't mean boyfriend but rather boy friend as in ..a boy..and a friend. But the owlish expression he gave her was nothing short of adorable! And then him telling her that he no longer felt that friend or best friend felt..enough.
All this stirred her in a way that was alarming and quite frankly she was afraid to think too deeply on it and be..wrong..
She wanted to be right. She wanted to be his and only his.
Currently he was awaiting her outside of the condos while she got 'freshened up' for their 'date'. It was suppose to be a secret. Along with how close they seemed to of gotten of late. That really made her wonder if it was temporary. She was waiting to wake up one morning and he be gone. But as of late even if he's out of 'their' room he'd leave her a note. Normally with cute lil smiley faces on them too! She liked those. It made it a bit easy to judge his mood when he was writing.
Why a secret? She didn't know. Maybe he was afraid of upsetting Mayu? She found herself wondering what Mayu would of said if she knew Toby wanted to take back those words back on that day before her birthday.
Did he really or was that just the guilt talking?
Sometimes it's hard to know.. She wanted to believe.. She was suppose to trust him. And she did...Mostly..
As much as she wanted to relax into the ideas of him being there. Of there..seemingly being 'more' she just couldn't put faith into it. She could put faith into him as her best friend and someone dear to her but..hoping still was far too hard to do.
Freshening up consisted of a change of clothes. A simple white dress that was cute enough. Her old clothes had been worn for almost two days. Standing before the mirror she watched herself work the ivory and silver comb through her now white hair. It settled into fine waves the more she combed through it. Staring at her reflection there was almost a sense of dread lingering in her expression. Fear. She was setting herself up again to be hurt..wasn't she? This..was going to pass. Like it did in the past. Even if he swore he wanted to take back all the painful things he'd done in the past. It ..just wasn't meant to be.
A sad little smile formed and she quick brushed the rest of her hair before venturing out the condo to meet he who was waiting patiently.
His hands found his pockets. He counted the stars between the dark clouds as he took slow steps away from the door, down the street. He didn't know she was behind him..yet..
Her eyes ticked to his feet of all places. Maybe she should fuss at him for shoes? Nah..Hands clasped at the small of her back and she gave a small chuckle, eyes raising to the sky. "It's a nice night.." Still a little warmer then she'd like but..yay for light clothes!
"Huh..?" He blinked slowly..half turned to look back, then fully faced her after a moment. She *did* dress up.. He offered a weak, helpless smile. "Yeah.."
This, to Katt, wasn't dressing up. Eyes drifted down to him and she smiled. "Uh..something wrong?"
"No.. Not really.." He shuffled back a couple steps, his head tilting. "You wore a dress for it.."
"Uh..Oh. Well it is still hot outside. I figured since I've been wearing the same clothes for almost two days that I'd wear something light during out walk." She brushed the dress a few times. "Should I go change?"
"Nah.." He flashed a bigger grin at her, shook his head. "It's not bad at all.. It's cute.. Least I don't feel that funny about not wearing much now.". Snickering. He held a hand out to her.
"I'd much rather you wear some shoes but I know even trying is fruitless." She sighed and swayed slightly. Not bad. "I can..mrmmm." She shook her head and raised her hand, sliding her hand into his. Smiling she stepped close to him.
"Yeah, trying won't really get you anywhere.." He squeezed her hand in his. "You look just fine.. I kinda wasn't expecting you to wear something different though.."
"Well I did say I was going to freshen up." She stepped even closer, her fingers curling softly to his. "Won't get me anywhere huh? Even if I pouted all cute like?"
He grinned slowly. "We're already outside.. If you did that, it'd probably just make me sad.."
She craned her head softly to the side, the waterfall of milk bouncing across her shoulders. "What if I offered a prize?" Cute lil smile.
He glanced down to her neck, then up to her face. He felt a nice twinge of anxiety somewhere.. "You should've told me before.."
She watched his face with that winning smile. "Oh? Guess it's too late now huh?" Le-sigh..oh hum..too bad for him!
"Mhm.. You never know.. I might be mean 'cause I didn't get a prize.." He smirked softly in response to her grin, tugging softly at her hand..turning to start walking down one of the several streets. He sort of didn't care which. Being outside was already helping..
"Mrmmm..Hmm.. You realize that just means you may not get any presents in the future?" Grin began to spread as she followed in his step, fingers curling softly to his hand. "Going to make me all scared and stuffs." Sage nod.
"Mhm.. I'll have to think about it.. On the other hand..it's sweet..that you worry about that.." ::He nudged her arm with his elbow. "That's the part I won't get tired of.."
"Mmmm. What that I have to fuss at you like a mother hen just to get you to wear shoes? I guess I could always stick some glue in your shoes." Her head swept down slightly to peer at his bare feet. It was..tempting.
"Yeah, you could.. I'd get pissed off, but you could.." He snickered softly. "But no, that you worry I'm gonna step on something.. It's cute.."
Steady strides that silently struck steep, steel frames of street lamps carried that blazing ball of cardinal red from one road to another--distance traversed in the manner of minutes counted as mere seconds. Thick, encroaching midnight was Phantasneko's aegis. Dull, idle banter was her distraction. Her source of transportation equally became a source of residence; gripped by the warm frame of glass for unrequired assurances that she would not topple.
Katt's lips parted to state something but decided it was best not to go there. Instead she shrugged and glanced at her feet. "I guess.."
"Well, really..who would want glue in their shoes..?" He grinned, leaned his head back to stretch his neck..watching the sky instead of the street. "Are you really asking me to..?"
Katt's shoulders bounced in a single shrug. "Doesn't matter either way.." The way it was spoken was as if she was pretty much shooting and killing the subject, burying it. R.I.P!
The glint of pure white met a lower, plush lip as four separate ears drank from the forbidden pool of conversation that lingered not too far ahead. A slithering tail uncurled from the waist, motioning in suggestion for the owner to take flight and continue on. That mix of christmas cheer complied, launching from another post and taking residence on another lamp. Paces were paces; she but yards away now.
"Yeah, it does.. There's a difference between joking about it, and being serious.." He really hated this conversation. It'd probably be easier if he just wore the damn things.. He grinned wryly at the half covered stars..studied something he thought he saw some distance before them, then looked down at Katt.
Target designated. A methodic voice like a dull breeze acknowledged. "Roger..." the cardinal shade replied. Lifting upright, tail snaking about the waist it originated from, the christmas themed woman prepared herself; exposed digits sneaking into the folds of her ruby dress to acquire as-of-yet unseen equipment.
Katt shook her head a single time, not looking up if only because her shoes were mildly interesting. "Mrph. Andddd...how long have I been 'bugging' you about wearing shoes?" That should pretty much sum up an answer now shouldn't it? She shrugged after a moment. "If after this long you don't want to do it..sort of just seems to be more like I am bothering you so ..yeah..doesn't matter.."
"In the end, I guess I should.. Since then you won't have to keep worrying, or something..and then you won't feel like you can wander around without shoes and get sick again, so.." He grinned. "But..really..now the condo's all the way back there.. He glanced over his shoulder. And I kinda don't want to buy new ones..I've got a bunch already.."
Activate. That secondary voice stated, carrying spirited vigor. Slipped between several fingers were spheres no larger than jellybeans, bright like the starts that speckled the velvet night. Those shards of glistening wonder were coiled into a balled fist, and thrown with accurate precision in the vicinity of the two present below. Contact with the ground was the intended, but any disturbance that might be had following the release would result in the same reaction: a vibrant, green mass of waking light.
"Or I should just stop bothering you about it alll together and you won't have to be bothered by it." Her free hand lowered to point at her shoes.
"Yeah.." He jumped and turned..squinting horribly fast. His head jerked to the side, free hand lifting..crossing over his face to protect his eyes. Everywhere else was dark..it made the light stick out so much more.. "What the hell..!"
Katt blinked and tilted her head also, brows slowly lowering as she slowed. " Mrmmmm...d...dunno.."
Favorable success. "Right!" The blossoming explosion of pure light was the cue for the cute, agile, feline-type woman to make an entry; leaping from the street lamp that she was on. Dexterous like the cat she resembled, she acrobatically somersaulted onto the scene, landing perfectly onto the large pair of shoes that she wore. A rush of white ribbons, snapping greens, and tightly-fit crimsons blurred onto the scene precisely where the orbs shattered. From seemingly nowhere, a hand had found itself a steel, pink rod with a firmly planted golden star latched onto the end. Brandishing the air with it, she proclaimed, "I, Phantasneko, has arrived! Citizens of this awkward, yet familiar city, beware! Truth and Love shall... hold on." A freehand produced a sheet of paper, squinting at it as the bright light she produced had begun to wane. "...That's right. Truth and Love shall prevail in the face of all that dare challenge it! Do you, strange people, dare challenge such!?"
He shuffled backward, his hand tugging at Katt's..trying to get somewhere away from the light..since it seemed to be everywhere. His eyes felt like they were full of knives. He thought he'd heard another voice somewhere.. "Strange people..?" He rubbed his watering eyes with his knuckles.
The sheet of paper was thrown aside, and the rod Phantasneko carried was lowered to instead be brandished on the one that asked such a question. "That is what I said!" Strange and Awkward.
Katt hissed at the light, driving back as she was tugged yet attempting to slide herself between the voice and Toby. "Ach. Newcomers. Hey? Um..mind dimming the lights so you don't make us go blind?" Her free hand rose to rub at her eyes and/or shield at them from the bright light.
"Uh huh.." He shook his head. He couldn't remember what the person had all said..something about challenging things.. He dared open eye. It sounded like a girl..
Phantasneko's rod was lifted, angling it aside to the woman. Despite the easing of the blinding light she made her entry with, the star-tipped staff continued to glisten with a faint hue. "Never! The light is a required effect for the entry for one Phantasneko!" Glorious Entry.
"Least the stuff is going away.." He waved his hand, like the light was smoke..blinking, staring out through a slit thin space in his eyelids at the person that was in front of them.
Katt sighed quietly. "Ummmmm. If the light is too bright for people to see you isn't it sorta like..lacking the point of a showy entrance?" She rubbed at her eyes and attempted to lower her hand some. "And what do you mean by..um..challenge?"
A pointed, dangerously sharp tip of the star was moved to throw cascading teal over a narrow, exposed shoulder. "We sensed something strangely conspicuous around these parts!" Unsettling. "As I see you two, I am left with no choice!" Another sheet of paper was produced from the folds of the cardinal ruby shade of fabric. This one came with swipes and slashes of thick black calligraphy. It was pinched between two fingers, and lifted toward the woman first; runes faced outward. "Truth and Love requires a test!"
He rubbed at his eyes again, this time with the heel of his hand..then finally lowered it, glancing down to Katt in front of him..and the person beyond.. Who apparently had a piece of paper.. He blinked in surprise. Truth and love..?
Katt squinted at the figure and for a brief moment thought she saw..teal? And ears? Instantly she thought..Mayu~Nyan? But..that voice wasn't Mayu's. A blink, which she would regret after a moment and started to blink a few more times. "Uh. I still don't get it..?"
"There is no need for you to understand. Only for you to destroy this unsettling feeling inside my heart!" Terminal Eradication. "Truth and Love demands such!" The sheet of paper shimmered to life, burning with a hazy blue aura that didn't consume the paper much like it would were the flame a natural element of the physical plane. Curling her arm inward, Phantasneko extended her arm in a sidelong heave; launching the sheet from her possession with the velocity of a bullet from a rifle. The intended target was that which stood in front of her.
"What the hell.." He frowned softly, shoved his thumb against Katt's hand to get it to let go. It was just paper..that sparkled.. It couldn't really do much, right..? How are we supposed to challenge it if we don't know what it is..
"Mrmmm.." Katt was confused... Toby's hand was released but she didn't budge from her place in front of him. Nope! She blinked seeing something zooming her way. "Uh.." Fire paper? A hand reached up in attempts to grasp it. Like Toby she thought..was just a paper..Even if it made impact..umm worse that would happen would be a papercut?
The paper's approach was hasty, but nothing that the supernatural eye couldn't keep track of. The hazy blue hue resembled a serrated end of a blade; yet encompassed the very most of the sheet itself. Were it to naturally be caught, it would unnaturally slice something in half. The questions that were meant for her ears came without reply; as her focus was set on the sheet of paper that she'd enfused and used as a weapon.
Depends on what is said about natural right? Considering Katt thought it was nothing but paper she attempted to grasp it upon approach. She found her palm bitten into at the force. Not expecting that nor the force behind it, elbow bent and the tip of the paper met skin elsewhere. Springing forward her hand attempted to pull the paper from it's resting place. She found herself wondering..if she had been human..would that of sliced her in two? Kind of a scary thought..
The element that infused the sheet tapered off almost immediately following impact. Another had already been drawn into the same hand, this time aimed at the male. It was without the haze of blue so far--the presentation a matter of principle for the moment. "Does that answer your question, sir?" For the record, she's holding onto the sheet for the time being. It hasn't left her grip.
He didn't..really understand the point.. How did throwing paper see if people challenged love and truth.. He stepped up beside Katt..looking down at her first..then over at the other girl. His head slowly shook.
Katt was attempting to figure out how the heck the paper sliced into her skin. It stung..burned. Yanking the paper free her head jerked up and she shook her hand out towards the female, paper and all. "Don't you bloody dare think about hurting him!" Blink. She noticed Toby was no longer behind her.
"The paper hurt..? Really..?" He peered down at Katt again..eyes a little wide, eyebrows raised. "Where..?" He still..kind of couldn't believe it..
Phantasneko rose the star rod into the air. The paper that she had fashioned began to develop an aura much like the first. The hue in question was a faint golden one. "There is no harm where Truth and Love shows face! I, Phantasneko, have no choice in whether or not pain shows itself!" Twisting her arm in a downward slice, the second card left her grip, nearly twice as fast as the first had. It was intended for the male.
Toby grunted a surprised, mildly pained noise..his eyes lowering down to the paper lodged beneath his navel. It wasn't what bothered him. It felt like fire exploded in his veins..his eyes burned, and he knew they changed. By the time he realized he hadn't one it himself, bone white color was spreading from the point of impact. His hands paused in attempts to take the paper out, fingers tensing to white claws as he slowly lowered down to his knees.
Katt's hand lowered to show the neatly cut palm. Luckily the paper's edge hadn't sliced into her dress. It was nice and white! Except for the small stain of blood just above the collar. " Something's not right.." She answered to Toby and glanced up in time to see...zip. Blink. She turned and glanced to Toby. "AH! T-Toby!" Paper released she moved quickly to his side. Not good. Not good. Why was he white so quickly? "T-Toby?" Concern wasn't the only thing in her tone.
Direct impact. "It is!" Reactions present. "So that's the unsettling feeling! We found it!" Terminal Eradication. "You said that already!" Phantasneko was aware that her card had struck. The golden hue died out immediately once again; it having seeped into the open wound like a venom. Yet, despite her awareness, she was deadlocked in conversation with the secondary voice that followed her presence--orginating from that which crowned her.
"Take it out.. T-take it out..!" It was all he could do to keep from moving. His body trembled with restrained tension..he looked up at the girl that had thrown the paper. He yelled..feeling the structure of his face snap and change. His teeth were sharp and biting into his lips.
"Hhahhhhh! Toby!" Her eyes grew wide. Why did she suddenly feel as if she was in one of her nightmares? Her hand attempted to tear the paper from his skin. Her hand went lower still, digging for the dagger that was normally at his ankle. Would she..be able to? "You idiot!" She all but screamed at the girl as she yoinked at the purple-hued dagger.
Threat analyzed. "Did we have a plan B?" Phantasneko didn't wait for a response, retreating several steps in quick strikes that left blurry remnants wherever she might previously have been. The star rod was lowered into a defensive hold.
He wheezed, staring with wide, yellow cat's eyes at the girl behind Katt. He was trying..and it wasn't doing anything.. What did she do.. "WHAT DID YOU DO?!" His voice echoed, he snarled after he screamed. The paper was gone..but nothing had happened.. He couldn't see the purple color now taking over white. There were talons instead of nails..knives instead of teeth. Prismatic colors rippled in a circle surrounding his kneeling body.
Threat analyzed. "You're repeating yourself again. Retreat?" Retreat recommended. "Roger!" Phantasneko took another quick step backwards, and seemed prepared to do just that.
Katt jumped faintly, tears staining her cheeks. She didn't want to. But ... She stared at the distorted figure that was Toby. Stupid girl. Stupid..stupid.. Her right arm flung around Toby. "Stop.. Stop it!" The other hand jabbed forward in attempt to plant the dagger where it had been done so only days ago..
He shrieked again, the sudden new pain in his chest something of a distant memory. The colors dancing around them rose toward the sky, shimmering. Scared.. Pain..was that not working either.. It wasn't going away.. He could still feel it..
Phantasneko didn't move from place as soon as she had intended to. The vibrant colors enveloped her attention to the point that all she could muster was the ability to gawk.
It took everything Katt had to do it and ..it didn't work? She sobbed out, fingers tightening around the dagger. "Toby stop. Stop! Please!" She said the last through clenched teeth. She told herself..she wouldn't let go. If pain didn't work..What was she to do? "Stop..please. Please!"
"Ag-gain.." He was in control.. He could still talk, he could still think and see.. It was that girl's fault..she did this.. "DO IT AGAIN!! Make it..c-count.. I'm not g-gonna do this..I'm not..!"
Katt cried out at his demand, teeth clenched with an expression of pain. Tears worked down her cheeks as she shook her head. Despite not wanting to she grasped hard at the dagger and yanked it out from it's place. Make it..count. That meant he wanted her to.." I'm sorry.." She nearly choked on a sob as she shifted the dagger in her hand and plunged it into his chest, almost a complete crossing over one of his older scars. The crunch was enough to make her feel sick. Her other hand was clenching, fingernails curled into white flesh that wasn't her own.
Toby gagged, sagging forward immediately. Crimson dribbled out of his mouth and the now two holes in his chest. He could feel his heart beating in his head..trying to pump with something foreign in it..slowing. A yellow glow, akin to the one the offending paper originally held flickered and died in the blood pouring from him. He wasn't..going to die here.. His arms thudded weakly to the ground, his entire weight leaning into Katt's arm. The purple and white hues on his skin faded, leaving a sickly complexion. The bones in his face restructured..talons disappeared, and teeth shrunk down. The prismatic colors surrounding them drifted off as if coaxed by a breeze. He hung his head.
Katt grunted out quietly when his weight fell forward and she curled her arm best so that she could lay him back onto the ground without actually dropping him. She found herself shaking violently. So tensed up she could of snapped like a tightened piano string. Arm sliding out from him once he was laying down she brushed her hand over his hair. She wasn't going to let him die her. First she had to..urg..The door was torn from flesh for the second time that night, mutters of apologies barely making through the sobbing. Shaking her head she dropped the dagger and began fishing for the vial. " Toby?" Please...please answer.."
"They fixed it?" Problem solved. "Wasn't the idea here to eradicate it? That's not doing it!" Reapply. "It's not like I brought a huge cache of cards, you know." Fingers pinched another sheet, lifting it up into the moonlight. The calligraphy glistened and rippled like water as it began to show face. It had been written on without pen; without physical contact.
He wanted to hurt that girl..at least after he figured out what she did, why nothing short of this didn't help him get control. He followed Katt's direction without protest, weak coughs shuddering through him. Crimson dribbling out of both corners of his mouth. He watched the fuzzy looking sky from under half closed eyelids. He was sleepy.. He could deal with this stuff later..after a nap..
The vial was removed with shaken hands and Katt found herself pausing. Looking over at the movement she glared. "Haven't you done enough damage?!" She managed a pair of droplets between Toby's lips before replacing the vial. She wasn't..She wasn't going to let this happen again. "I am not..I am not.." She raised to her feet after the dagger was collected, lip turned up into a snarl at the girl. "I am not going to let you hurt him anymore!"
Blink. Blink. "Then you challenge Truth and Love! As the protector of the sacredness, I have no choice but to remain and defend its purposes!"
His eyes had closed. He could barely see the sky anyway.. He didn't need to see when he was asleep.. The muscles of his neck relaxed, his head dipped to the left. Blood dribbled from his mouth even after the wounds had begun to fill in from the inside. There were voices..fuzzy voices..interrupting his sleep. They should just..be quiet..
The dagger was spun sharply in Katt's palm then grasped firmly with the blade posed for strike. "Listen..I don't know who you are. Or what you think you know. But if you are fighting for 'love and truth' then why the hell are you hurting people you know diddly squat about? We've been through enough crap. We don't need this..or you to tell us what is truth..and what is love.."
He sucked in a sudden breath and choked, rolling over..quickly coughing out whatever blood was in his way so he could breathe..spit..repeat the process. He pounded the outside of his fist into the ground in frustration, then started to push up. Sleeping..wasn't going to happen..
"Truth and Love reprimands all things that challenge it! Foul creatures such as that are a bane to Truth and Love all together!" She nodded once. "I, Phantasneko, battle all things that dare defy or damage what brings Love and Honesty to the world at large! And if things threaten it...!"
"Threaten.." He spat again, dragged the back of his hand across his mouth..staring groggily in their direction, his eyes flicking between Katt, and the girl. If the girl could do that..release his yoki.. He had to get up..
Sliding forward once she saw Toby move Katt planted herself before him, pupiless greens glaring at the girl. She hissed. How...dare she call Toby that. "If you have problems with him then you've problems with me. And I am not letting you touch him again. So you can either leave or I'll gladly rip out your spine and shove it down your throat." She glanced back to Toby when she heard him speak. She felt..a very heavy relief.
Phantasneko's fingers tightened about the paper that she held. At first, to the man's movements. Then to the woman's words. "Such angry words!" Bitter and Spiteful. The sheet she held flared to life, the golden hue shaping around the page in a larger, more vibrant hue. It was infused with excess energy. "Take that back!"
He touched his chest, fingers skidding around the blood splotches..feeling for the wounds. They weren't there. He just..felt tired.. He was still pushing to get to his feet..one hand on the ground to support him as he righted his legs. "Don't.." He grunted, his eyes widening. They matched the golden, cat version of just minutes earlier. He lifted his head to the girl beyond Katt. "Don't hurt her.."
"Like hell I will! First you ruin our date and then you attack him! You could of made me lose him forever. I will not forgive that." Katt hissed, trying to keep herself in front of Toby. "I am..not going to let anyone.." She couldn't leave him. Not with that girl flaring her shiny paper. He could get hit again. And at this point it was an 'over my dead boy' feeling.
Toby hobbled forward, having enough faith in his body to not topple over for at least the few steps it would take to stand at Katt's left shoulder. Golden eyes flicked to the paper the girl held, then back to her face. He shook his head once.
The card Phantasneko carried was infused with energy to the point that it had developed the ability to hum quietly. It wasn't overloaded, or to the point of no return, but it did intend to share that the bark was not without some bite. Menacing, were the previous example needed to be drawn upon. Teal locks shivered as her head shook. "As I said! I, Phantasneko, do not carry the power to draw harm! Only Truth and Love can decide such things!"
Maybe that was what she called her damn paper.. "Then tell truth and love to knock it the f*ck off.. We're not challening anything.." He glanced over to Katt..then back to the girl.
"But you are a threat to everything peaceful" Unruly havoc. "That is the judgment!"
Oh to hell! She was challenging to no end! "Only thing threatening peace tonight is YOU!" She barked at the female and attempted to press herself back in front of Toby.
He blinked..his eyes flickered back to silvery aqua once. He forced them to burn again. He didn't know what to say..
Phantasneko carried a sad countenance. "That is an unfortunate opinion!" Discussion over. She lifted the star rod up into the air, brandishing it at the speckled sky. The card that burned with a glorious golden hue, like a king stapled to a throne, was curled inward to her navel, and thrown outwards much like the previous two had. It spiraled as it made it's direction known--the male that was hunched over on the ground yet again. Her eyes followed the trajectory of the card more intently, this time...
He palmed his back, finding the hilt of his dagger..flipping it over. His arm flung out much like the girl's had..weapon zipping through the air at her person so quickly it whistled. If he was going to get hit again..he was going to do something too..
"Funny how your opinion is the only one you give a damn about!" Katt blinked and turned quickly to Toby, wrapping her arms around him in a hug. She would take the hit. She didn't care if the damn thing sliced her in two. She was not..letting it hit him again. She was not going to lose him. She had barely managed a shift of person, skin bleeding into a white that her hair now matched with. A single feathered appendage tore free from her shoulder, arching skyward then dipping around to shell around he one she held. What looked to be another pair of spined wings remained arched but not as feathery in glory.
The blurry motions of a knife caught the Phantasneko's attention, which meant the built up power of the spirit card that she had thrown was no longer under her guidance. With her manipulation faltered, the card itself shred into two, and imploded on a spot. Hazy, golden residue graced the air in a gaseous cloud--that which surrounded the pair as the presence of the card itself had grown only mere inches from connecting into the woman before it had done so. She was forced to shift in her posture, feeling the bite of steel tear into an exposed arm. It was better than getting it in the skull, she had assumed.
"What.." He gripped Katt to him, trying to see her back..feel it..for any irregularity, blood.. Anything.. "What the hell are you doing.." He hissed, weakly shaking her..then curled his arms tightly around her torso. He was hardly paying attention to the wings surrounding them..or the wispy spit of gold in the places that the wings didn't take up.
The fact that the female pretty much ruined the night annoyed Katt. Hands shifted up to nudge Toby's shoulders. " I am not losing you. Deal with it.." There was no impact. She didn't know why. Didn't want to know why. She grunted quietly. " Go...Please? Whatever she did to you..I ..We can't do that again.."
"Shut up. I'm not f*cking leaving you here, do you understand me? Don't even say that sh*t to me.. She didn't do anything.." He lied.. " I'm fine.." What the hell was this stupid gas..? It didn't smell like anything. He tensed, though. His eyes died back to their original state, but he grunted as they were forced to change..again..
Phantasneko was still, feeling that burn from snipped flesh develop further. It put her mind into a distracted state. As she hadn't tended to it yet, she decided it was the appropriate time. Slicing two fingers clear into the air, they puffed to life in a faint green hue--an aura surrounding them much like her cards had been. The fingers were applied to the location of the wound. Her gaze never once left the presence of the two.
"I'll kill her.. I'LL KILL HER..!" He threw his hands away from Katt milliseconds before they could latch on and bury themselves into her. If this was going to happen.. He snarled, blood standing out on flesh that was, once more, too white. The color stretched into his hair. "Let go. Let g-go of me.."
" Like hell you are.." Her eyes shifted to his face, pleadingly staring. " Please Toby.." Her wing slowly lowered, feathers fluffing out. She blinked at the sudden outburst and she shook her head. " Stop it.. Now.." Her voice was firm, arms refusing to leave him. " Please..don't make me lose you.."
Danger. Fingers sliced over the length of the wound, finding itself healed in full in a matter of seconds. The pain lingered, but the flow of blood had ceased. The most of Phantasneko's distractions came to a screeching halt when her narrowed gaze returned onto the male; the fit of words her focus.
"I'm not t-telling you to let me..d-die.. I'm telling you to let g-go.. It's doing it ag-gain.." He gulped, shuddering on a wave of the purest pleasure as yoki ignited in his system for the second time in an hour. He bared lengthening teeth at the girl some distance away. "I w-will hurt you..if you don't.. I can't do it mys-self.."
"You are going to attack her and who knows what she will do to you. She may make it worse. You need to calm down! I'm serious Toby. Please..Just look at me. Don't worry about her.." She whimpered. He was already as white as she was. She couldn't swallow or breath. She didn't want to let him go..
"WHO CARES?! I don't know what made it stop last time.. But if it's n-not going to *now*, then the least I can do is take pieces of her off. " He shook his head as the bones of his face shifted..muscles straining under white skin. His fingernails bit deeply into his palms.
"You don't care if I lose you?!" Katt frowned at him and she swallowed. Spined wings rose up then bowed forward. "You are giving into it and you sound like.." She felt so..numb with ache.
He sagged in her grip, the shock of what she said hitting him like a brick. "No. I don't c-care..if she makes it w-worse.. You have to tr-trust me.. " He wasn't watching himself, or the purple skin tone that was taking over the white. All he knew was that it was getting harder to form words..yellow, razor like teeth gnashed behind his lips and all he wanted to do was snarl.
Trust him.. Slowly Katt's arms drifted from him and she hugged herself. Wings, both feathered and spines folded back and fell lifelessly behind her like a beautiful white feathered cloak. Trust him...Her head slumped deeply forward. "....."
He growled, hunched over as soon as he felt her hold slip from him. There wasn't a breath between when he was at that placement, and when he was before the unknown girl, muscles rippling under murky violet skin..talons slashing toward any spot on the girl he could reach.
Color or rather what little that normally touched Katt's skin bled back into skin and the wings shuddered then collapsed upon themselves, breaking into dust and fading into the air. She managed to move a arm to paw the ground, searching for the dagger she had held earlier. She felt wrong about what she had done but he told her..to trust him..
Hazard. Fingers curled into the star rod that Phantasneko was carrying. Her opposing hand drifted into the excess of her cardinal ruby dress to produce several of those beans once again. The motion was as lighting fast as the sudden eruption of light had been. She would use that blaring, exposed shine of pure white to remove herself from the assault that was impending.
Light. It stabbed into his eyes again. He faltered, clawed at his own face..flesh tearing beneath nails. He sprung high into the air, looking down on the explosion of light below. Where did she go.. He didn't have a lot of time..
Distance was acquired quickly. All most inhumanly. Phantasneko was positioned on a street lamp some yards away. She felt the location adequate, even though he had taken to the air. The burst of light would wane in the coming seconds, but she decided to refrain from any further action from the time being. Calculating.
He was using his yoki..trying to see better, move faster. If he was right..he would be able to do that twice more.. Maybe even once.. Until he would have to focus and try..even though that wouldn't work.. He couldn't think about that.. He shoved off from the air, rocketing through it in his search. He angled himself for an irregular looking lamp..diving for it, a fist created..swinging toward the figure standing there.
Focus at the moment was very, very hard to do. Katt felt herself shaking. She was..going to have to stab him again wasn't she. Slowly her head tilted, pupiless greens attempting to find where Toby had disappeared off to. She felt strange..and didn't like it..
Phantasneko's cache of bombs, like her storage of cards were soon to be, had been exhausted. Her gaze followed after the bouncing bundle of demonic presence, arms extending outward in front of her to take the brunt of the attack that was being thrown at her. He would feel the connection made, and find a streaking shimmer of red and green launch itself in a diagonal motion clear for the ground below. The impact itself appeared brutal, kicking up a flourishing level of debris following.
Toby roared. It felt..amazing.. Using yoki, hitting..damaging, breaking. He dropped down to the ground with a similar thud, but only a small crater was made. His body jerked to stand upright, a laughable excuse for what it used to be. Hulking muscles under purple skin..face wide with new bone, saliva dripping from a maw chalk full of yellow fangs. He figured it was enough..the girl had been small.. He stood, watching what he had done.
There was no motion as the dust settled around the christmas shaded figure. Phantasneko was laid out flat, face planted firmly in the ground.
Katt spied the two of them and she felt herself tense up at the sight of Toby. " nNnnn.." Tears began to spill from the corner of her eyes. Why...Why did this have to happen. Why did that stupid girl have to.. She swallowed a breath, unable to take another. Eyes focused on the hulking figure that was Toby. She felt..afraid..
He felt..pleased.. He'd done it.. And he'd done it right.. He snorted, turning sharply to look over his shoulder..fully facing the figure now behind him. Bright colors swirled around his feet, lit up his neanderthal features. Was this a threat too.. He growled.
Phantasneko glanced up when she no longer felt the presence of eyes on her person. Truth and Love would find its day! Lifting up onto her feet in a quick motion, she turned and leapt from place without hesitation. She was no sooner gone than what blinking the eye would be capable of missing.
Katt just stared back, unmoving. She felt a strange pit in her stomach at the way she was being looked at. Or was it..the growling. " Toby.."
There was a sudden moment when his vision cleared. The colors dancing around him fell back to the ground, he knelt heavily along with it. The purple hue of his skin was sucked away, leaving white..then white left tan. He grunted softly, leaning too much to the right. He felt the crumpled street on him..she looked sideways. He stared helplessly up at her. He didn't know what happened, why it stopped. All he knew was that he hadn't done anything.. It would have kept going.. Moisture dripped from his flickering eyes.
Katt sobbed out a sound that was joyous. She quickly sped from her spot and towards him. Once close enough she flung her arms around his neck so that he would have her to lean on instead of falling to the street. Which it looked like he was heading. Her muscles twitched to the point they ached. She didn't sit still. Fingers felt like they had to brush up against him. He as okay? Really? " Toby.."
He was too surprised. He was allowed to cry for a little bit.. He didn't know what else to do, and he couldn't lift his arms to hug her back yet.. He shook his head weakly against her grasp. "Almost.. I..alm-most.." He couldn't believe that part either..
Elbows dipped against him as she tried to pull him tighter to her. His words made her want to cry even more. Katt wasn't sure if she was happy or terrified. Both? Tears spilled from her eyes none stop, dripping from her chin and onto his shoulder.
"I had to..bel-lieve..that I could d-do it.." His voice broke, he shook his head again..his arms tentatively touching her back. Still scared.. He didn't want to hurt her.. He was surprised that he didn't.. "And..that I wouldn't h-have to..d-die..to stop i-it.."
" You kept your promise.." Katt sobbed the words out. It nearly caught in her throat. " I..I was so..s..scared.." And if her shaken breath wasn't evident enough her trembling body probably was.
He laughed. It sounded pitiful even in his own ears. "Y-yeah.." His face crumpled, he sniffed..drawing his weary arms carefully around her back. He wasn't the only one that was supposed to feel better. "So was I.."
Katt didn't seem like she was going to be easing up just yet. In fact her arms tightened up more and she buried her face against his neck. She was mumbling something repetitively but it was muffled. There was absolutely no care if her dress got blooded. She just..needed to make sure...
He sniffed again, swallowing..blinked to get tears out of his eyes. "I didn't th-think..anything was gonna happen.. I c-couldn't..'cause then it w-would.." His lips and chin trembled..feeling her clutch at him. I didn't m-mean to scare y-you..
Katt's head dipped down, just enough to allow herself the ability to breath past his skin. " You didn't think anything was going to happen to you?" But it did happen. He turned...Her body suddenly felt very..heavy..She felt like she was about ready to pass out and both arms latched more to him.
"I couldn't f-focus on it.. Or what I'd do if I awak-kened.. " He grunted softly at her added weight. He felt like he needed to keep her up. He could do that.. Really.. "After you he-helped..I was thinking ab-bout stuff.."
Her head shook rapidly. Helped him. HA! Her fingers curled against his back and she shook her head even more. " Stuff..?"
"Yeah.. " He didn't want to tell her to let go..but he wanted to see her.. He bit on his bottom lip, gently tugging at her shoulders and leaning against the hold she had on him.
Katt's arms released him against her will. Depending on how she was moved she probably looked a bit slouched. She looked..drained. And her face was soaked with tears. She wanted to go home with him and just..curl up. To hell with the world and it's crazy people..
He slid his hands along her neck, capturing her jaw in his stained hands..nudging her face with his thumbs. He tried to see her. It was..sad.. "Stuff.. Like what I'd say..if I *did*.." He trailed off..huffing a breath. He had to finish that. "...*did* die.."
Katt obviously didn't want to think about that. There was a twist of expression as she looked up at him helplessly. At that moment the only thing really keeping her head from slouching was..his thumbs. His words only provoked more tears to flow and all she could really see of him was a blur.
Toby been expecting that. It wasn't really a good subject. He gave her a sad smile..constantly wiping tears from her cheekbones as they came. "And.." He licked his lips. "I didn't want to..without being able to.." He looked over her face. This was the weirdest time..
Katt figured her mind missed something because she didn't understand. But that was okay for now. Because was okay. She tried to smile back but her lips only shook with effort.
"You're listening, right..?" He brushed his palms over her face and ears..keeping away from her hair as much as possible, save for a few messy locks here and there. "And you'll believe me..and you won't..you won't doubt it.. Or..try not to.. 'Cause I'm expecting you to..sort of.."
A small nod rocked her head. A motion she nearly didn't want to because of his hands. She was trying so hard not to cry any more. Really she was.
"Look at me..?" His eyes moved between hers. He wondered if it would be easier to say if she was looking somewhere else.. He'd never done it before..he didn't have anything to compare it to.
Another small nod and Katt managed a small smile to him even if it was sad in nature. " Y..Yeah.."
His heart clenched in his chest. All the determination he had was quickly leaving. "Okay..I.." He swallowed, matched her sad smile with one of his own. He felt like his body was going to implode. Why was he this nervous.. He shouldn't be. "I don't want you to be scared..of telling me you love me..anymore.. Really.."
The sad expression was overlapped with a touch of confusion. That..was something odd to bring up so suddenly. Brows knitted if only a touch. " O...Okay.."
He didn't..think she understood.. It was okay..that was a gigantic leap to make.. He grinned, with a little more amusement, brushing his fingers over jaw. "Tell me now.. Say it.."
Katt felt..confused even more by the request and it took her a moment to register what he was asking. She found a worry about saying it. When she did he tended to look..sad..There was enough of that already. Why.....Why was he asking her to tell him that..now. ..of all times? She didn't say anything at first, just sort of stared at him in that confusion. Slowly her lips parted. " I ..I love you, Toby.."
He did look sad..watching her face, her mouth as she said it. But there was something different about the expression..almost grateful. His brow knitted..he feathered his palms across her cheeks again. "Really..?"
Slowly her eyes closed. It was getting hard to keep them open. Even more so with the caress. " With all that I am.." It would be a lie to say otherwise..
"Heh.." He had to do this.. He had to finish what he started.. He didn't know what would happen tomorrow..or even on the way back.. If they were in their room, would he lose control..? Would they even make it off the ground.. Would he get another chance.. He licked his lips, leaning..tucking her against his chest in a warm embrace. He held it for a moment, tightened it..his mouth found the outside of her ear. He deep a long, slow, deep breath.. "I love you, too.."
" Nnn.." She didn't want to be brought so close like that. His warmth didn't help with the want to curl up and just...pass out. Tomorrow would be better right? She laid still in the comfort of the firm embrace, silent even as she felt the bath of breath. Eyes popped open suddenly. She choked softly on a breath when she heard those words. Words she was almost afraid to believe she heard. She stared forward owlishly, lips parted as she tried to really figure if she had heard it or not. It took several tries to find voice. " P..please...." Her brows knitted as she turned her eyes up, attempting to find his face. " S....s...R..Repeat?" What she was going to originally say..too many words.
He snickered quietly. He said it..and she didn't hear.. Maybe she just wanted to hear it again.. He knew that feeling.. He leaned back on his heels, chewing on the corner of his mouth. He still tasted blood.. "I lied..I knew what was going on today.. I didn't need to come outside and think about it.. I knew yesterday too.." He leaned back further as he noticed her looking up at him..smiled as he studied her face. He'd said it once, he could do it again.. He brushed her chin with his thumb. "I love you, too.." It felt..nice.. Moreover, it felt like enough.. Beyond best friend..he wasn't sure it was beyond girlfriend, but..he didn't hate how it sounded.
Katt's brows knitted up as if she were in pain. In truth her chest was in a pain she wasn't exactly familiar with. She gave a soft sound of surprise which was rushed out in a breath. She couldn't breath very well afterwards. Never had she imagined those words..Those three words..would ever be directed at her..by him. And he ..meant them. She was shaking but this time it wasn't fear or anything bad. It was..happiness. Joy? " O..Oh...W..wow.." Poor girl...So happy she couldn't even think straight.
Toby laughed softly. It wasn't one of the few things he was expecting her to say, but..it wasn't bad.. He shook his slowly. "I knew I'd regret it if I didn't say it.. It wouldn't have been bad if it was the last thing I ever said.. I wanted you to know..though.."
He loved her. Really..And he said it. Katt's fingers suddenly curled to him. " I ...mrmm.." Her head rocked forward, forehead meeting his shoulder, maybe a bit heavier then she would of liked. " I feel..f..faint.." She laughed weakly at herself and how stupid that sounded.
It made him laugh a little more. He nudged his cheek gently against her hair. It was a little more than arrogant to believe that it was his fault..but it was nice to think that he added to it..a bit. "I don't blame you.. Some date, huh..?"
" I never..I never thought..I'd..I'd..hear you say those words..not to me.." It was such a weak confession. A true one but weak none the less.
"I know.. I'm surprised you didn't tell me that I was lying or something.." He grinned..leaning against her hair. "We should get up.. Can you..?"
" No..I can't.." She whimpered quietly. " You ...You..aren't..You aren't lying.." He told her he expected her to believe him. Suddenly she slouched and her eyes rolled closed. Toby done made her faint!
