Holiday seasons was overshadowed by the whispers of an unusual death. In an alley within the city a frozen body, bathed in crystallized blood. No one knows of the person or the gender but it is said that the person was clenching a hold of some sort of silvery bracelet.

Worthless..

Go away..

Words she thought she never thought she would hear from Mayu towards her. It seemed all she knew..all she had grown to love..was collapsing.

For a brief moment in time she had seen a glimpse of happiness. It seemed she and Toby were growing closer together. Something she only dreamed could happen. When his lips touched hers it was like electricity that sent her nerves dancing and at the same time made her melt to him. He was very unorthodox and confused her enough. One moment seeming like he didn't care and the next totally breaking down, begging her to stay. She felt ..important to him..

And Mayu. She could never ask for a better friend then the girl was. Mayu was a breath of life that danced like a summer breeze. Warm..Comforting..Full of life and revitalizing spirit. Most like her..avoided Katt yet she clanged so desperately..

Until recently...

Over a misunderstanding Toby harbored hate for her. Punched her mouth so hard that she bled. All she wanted to do was bring him back because she didn't want him to think that what was going on with Mayu was his fault. She couldn't do things alone. She had no idea how to help the girl who had apparently gone blind and mad.

He hit her..without even thinking of her words. Like she would really think that of him to being with. He struck out of complete rage. And she was stung in so many more ways then just the pain that radiated from her mouth. She bled..she didn't care. She wanted to floor him with all her strength but ..she couldn't bring herself to hurt him. Aside that she needed her strength. She had managed to belt out that she hated him before leaving..Leaving to return to Mayu.

She spent time after that attempting to calm the poor girl from her maddened state. It broke her heart to see the girl in such a state of being. And what hurt even worse was the fact that she could do absolutely nothing aside from just..being there..

When she did settle into a state that seemed more common she was watched cautiously. Like a mother hen over a precious chick. When she demanded time alone she couldn't help but allow it. It was what Mayu wanted after all. Helplessly she watched Mayu stumble out of the door. Her mind wheeled over things she could possibly do to help Mayu. Bring her to the clinic? Could they help her? Apparently those at the place she called the Academy couldn't..

She had barely heard him come inside. Toby. Thinking it was Mayu finally coming back into the cold she looked over. Upon seeing who it was she turned around sharply. She ...still hated him. Hated him..for just abandoning Mayu like it was nothing to him...

She tried to make things better but of course he wouldn't allow it. He seemed perfectly all right with just letting her go now. There was no more care there..if there ever was care to begin with. It stung to think such things. But..she had no time to worry about her own emotions. She had to make sure Mayu was all right. She had been outside for far too long.

When checking on her she found that Mayu was not outside of the shop but rather down the street, attempting to ..leave? When approached Mayu all but dismissed her. How could Mayu really think that..Katt cared then didn't? That her feelings were..worthless..

It stung..deeply.

She wanted to help and continued to try but was dismissed again. Since she couldn't do anything she made her way to the teas. She was barely able to cling onto her common senses. She even walked past the one person she was going to the teas to announce about Mayu. The door had been slammed open long enough for her to call out to Toby then it was closed.

She walked down the street and sank into an nook in some dark alley. She shut down then..everything just..went numb. There were silent tears but raspy breaths on the air. Nothing more.

She didn't even feel the hands that brushed her hair. Someone had chanced upon her. A large male of sorts. He was speaking to her but she didn't react in any shape or form. She was grabbed and forced to her feet, back against the wall and the grip of the dark haired man was the only things keeping her at her feet. His hands roamed where no man's hands should, groping her with lustful fever. He was more then delighted that she didn't even budge to stop him. He cooed at her wantonly as he pulled at her hoody so hard that the zipper snapped down. It was tossed away leaving her exposed to his eyes and the elements. He noticed something around her wrist. Something that looked like it could be worth some money. So that would be the next thing he'd remove.

She snapped. In an instant she was upon him like a rabid animal. Hands grasped his shirt and he was swung around until he was pinned up against the wall. At first he thought it was her ravaging him in the lustful way he had been going at her. He was horribly wrong.

His screams echoed through out the alley as she clawed away his flesh with claws of Ivory and bit into several places of skin. She drank from him and heavily. But even then she didn't stop shredding away flesh.

Suddenly she felt hands grabbing her own with strength that could barely contain her in their hold. She thrashed around and turned with a bloody snarl to whoever dared. The body, still grasping her bracelet, fell in a slump at their feet.

He was tall with white hair and pupiless obsidian eyes. Sad eyes that stared at her. She saw his lips move but his words were gibberish to her. Both of her hands collected in one of his large ones he grasped her face with his newly free hand. She snarled out and thrashed even harder. His hand lowered and with a fist it landed firmly into her torso. Her mouth gaped open in a gasp and her body lurched forward from the impact. She gasped for air as she was slung over a shoulder and taken to the hall to be taken care of.

The body was left as Aren took Katt to the hall and settled her on the couch. By then she had settled in a calm state of sorts. Breathing..and just staring.

He frowned down at her as he tried to clean her up. In respects to her he used his own shirt to cover her up. When he tried to speak to her he found there was little to no reaction. As if she had totally shut down her entire being aside from her much needed functions.

He remained there even as she finally fell asleep. He would remain until he knew she would be okay to be on her own again.

She awoke feeling as if she had been in a dream state for days. She felt eyes on her and slowly her eyes drifted open. Head tilting she expected to find Mayu or Toby..but instead she found...Aren?

Sitting up she groaned and he quickly moved to shove her back onto the couch.

"You are exhausted. Rest." His voice was an attempt to sooth her and in return she shoved his hand from her shoulders.

"Back off.." She sneered in respond. Things were hazy but the largest question, "Why are you here?"

"Geez Nice to see you again too." He settled back into his seat while watching her with those large obsidian eyes of his.

She sat up and rubbed her face. Looking down she noticed the blood on her hands and she lowered her head. It hadn't been a dream. She attacked someone...viciously.

"Noone knows it was you." It was like read her mind and she visibly flinched. "What ..caused that? And where are those friends of yours that are suppose to be keeping you safe?"

"They wanted me to leave.." She spoke quietly. It was hard to speak. Her body was vibrating with life and yet..she felt dead inside.

"Wha? Why?" The confusion rang in his voice and he leaned into his knees to watch her closely. "I thought.."

"You thought wrong. I'm just a monster to people. Not worth keeping around." It was a snap that drew him back and she didn't care. It hurt deeply. Why couldn't things of just stayed the way they had been when.."Go back to Unity where you belong."

"Kathryn..?" He stood and moved to embrace her and she hissed at him. She scooted across the couch not wanting to be touched but he didn't let up. He grasped her and forced her into a hug that she fought against. She wailed and thrashed but he held on her as much as he could. "Shh.." He kept attempting to sooth her and suddenly she slacked in his arms. Clenching to him she sobbed out and sank into him. His hand drifted over her hair and she jerked her head away. It reminded her of...

"Please..don't..do that.."

He was surprised by her demand but nodded, his hand settling on her head. "Okay..Sorry.."

She relaxed and shook her head. "I..don't know what to do. I've lost..everything.."

"Come back to Unity with me then if there isn't anything left for you here.." He pulled her softly and she shook her head.

"I..can't."

"Why?" He demanded a respond.

"Because.."

"Are you hoping those that wanted you to leave will want you back?" He inquired quietly and her head lowered. "Then go to them." He urged her and slowly released her from his grasp.

"I can't..I was told to..leave."

He sighed and rubbed his jaw in annoyance. "Fine..then stay here. But if you need anything..you are always welcome back to Unity."

She watched him stroll away, his gait so strong for someone his age. Sinking into the couch her eyes closed. "Thank you, Aren."

He chuckled and waved to her on his way out. "They are some lucky folk to have such a devoted friend. Blessed be, Kathryn. Until next our paths cross."

The last she heard was the door closed before she settled to curl up on the couch even more. Lucky.. She had always considered herself the lucky one to have them.
