((The following post has been edited from its previous version.))

The Marketplace in mid-afternoon is different than she normally sees it. With the sun bathing every nook and cranny, it's hard to imagine that she herself had left two bodies here. As she sits on the fountain's edge, gloved fingers begin to tap lazily against the stone.

She had successfully spoken to Korlian about the portal business, and oddly enough, he had agreed without much question. To her complete surprise. The exit point of the portal was to be in the Marketplace, and to her questions about why, he said nothing.

So Jalleia sits on the fountain, leathered legs crossed and waiting somewhat patiently. This was the first step of many, and the thought of the final prize made dark lips smile.

Ayai

Everything had been settled. Taken care of and presented in a neat little package. All she had to do was press the button.

At least, she hoped.

Swirling prismatic elements presented themselves before her within the square, acknowledging her presence. All she had to do was suck a breath, and step directly through the oval-shaped tear in the fabric of reality, and be done with it.

Spiraling to life on the other end, the twists and turns resembled a brief taste of chaos as the power sparked to life like a conduit. A brief, yet steady pick-up in wind cycled about the statue, sending small splays of water splashing over the various cobblestone as it fell into full swing, allowing the delicate elf of mirrored proportions to step out.

Or, was supposed to be the plan.

Briskly falling through the portal as though she had tripped on a wire not taped down on stage was that of Ayai Dawnchaser, clutching in one hand a larger than average suitcase that was of grand proportions; barely sealed shut by several clasps not originally of the design. She was on her hands and knees, scuffed briefly by the encounter with the ground, and incapable of spotting anything two inches in front of her as locks of jet black hair had tangled themselves within the large set of goggles she wore.

"Oh, for the love of Koi-Koi! Anu'dorinni'talah!" She spouted in a fit of anger, clutching the large package close as she floundered to a stance. "Gah!" And behold, the sight of Jalleia sitting just nearby on the fountain. The sight of the elf so suddenly had her fumbling backwards, and nearly into the portal that had just been erected for her travels.

She would be thankful to note it closed shut just as she was falling towards it.

"Oh, for the love of Koi-Koi! Anu'dorinni'talah!" At this expulsion of profanity, Jalleia unfolds herself from her seat and up to her full height, slipping her hands in her pockets. Her head lowers in what could be mistaken as a nod, though is, however, a motion to catch all the amusing movements of her friend as she falls backwards. Glowing greens are full of mirth as she watches, and begins to path towards Ayai.

"I see you've made it to this world relatively ah.. unharmed," Jalleia says chuckling. Upon reaching her, she holds a gloved hand out to the smaller female for her to use to pull herself up. "How does Moonsorrow fare these days?"

Ayai

Piqued interest at the hand offered, hands parting long enough from the tangled locks of jet black and accept the offering, and pull herself on up. It had been a rough ride, and the icing on the cake was not her favorite flavor.

"It fares, Koi-Koi," she announced, smug as it were. Her tone suggested she wasn't a fan of the location, nor the option of where she wound up. She had just been on the ground, after all.

Her hands brushed away cluttered dirt that grasped ahold of the delicate dress she wore, paying little heed to the fact that her roughness was presenting definitive wrinkles in the clothing. She paid little heed, nor care.

"Me friend an' I are intrigued by zee offer, Jal-Jal. The Koi-Koi say very much 'dis unique trade be of favor to the Ayai-Ayai," she continues, flavoring each spackle of words in an accent different from one another. Her flourish of the word 'Koi-Koi' in specific brings but a glowing chuckle from within her throat.

"Tell us more, now that we may relish your attention in person," she purred quietly, setting the suitcase bound closely in one hand to the cobblestone.

As Ayai lifts herself, Jalleia lets her assessing gaze pick the smaller female apart. One gloved hand lays gently along Ayai's cheek, tilting her head upwards and then to the side. Fingers of the other hand play with and style still messy hair with an expert touch as she speaks.

"The trade..?" she queries, quite used to the language, though for the first time in a while is confused about the meaning. Once she finishes preening her friend, Jalleia's hands fall away and slip back within the interior of her jacket.

"You mean the reason I've requested you here," her tone slow, gaze questioning as she levels it on Ayai. "Well, I have neither seen nor heard from you in a long while, and was hoping to ah.. reminisce. There is also a very puzzling male whom I've had the opportunity to become acquainted with, and once I told him of you, he was quite curious." It can be noted that her eyes flick off to a spot above Ayai's shoulder and settle there as she sinks into pleasant thoughts.

"Tell me, dear, how is lovely Jaela doing," she says as she gestures towards the fountain. The weather is nice enough to be enjoyed for quite some time yet, and Jalleia already moves in that direction, taking up her previous perch as if she hadn't moved. She nods to the space next to her, indicating Ayai should sit, too.

Ayai

"Ri?" Ayai questioned, brushing a hand over her chest in reiteration. A tinge of pink crept along her cheekbones, always one for being thought over curiously. "Koi-Koi, be amused!"

Her bemused features became startled at the mention of the Ranger. It was rather clear, even before she put her thoughts to words, Ayai was nigh hating the lass. "Kim'jael! Jaela displeases Ayai-Ayai with her rants. Shunt. Shunt!" she spouted, digging a pointed toe of one thigh boot in between gaps of the stone. "Enough of that Koi-Koi.

"Share with me, Jally-Jal. You wish of the Koi-Koi to present itself, and I have. I wish to know of you, your male. Your male, oh yes," Came the seductive tone, stepping forward before Jal to run several fingers along a shoulder as she moved off, away from the fountain and point of entry.

And strangely, away from the conversation that she had shared interest in only seconds ago. "Oh, Bweeps-n-sheeps! This is shopping!?" Exploding her hands out before her, turning about in a haste before Jal. A wonder if her eyes were bulging out from beyond the illuminating set of ruby goggles she concealed malachite behind. A quiet whir sounded from a sprocket that off-set the frames on the right side, just as she considered a nearby stand of pastry goods. "Koi-Koi must see, you show!"

"And so it begins.." Jalleia mutters to herself, glowing greens flashing as Ayai first mentions Alex, then is completely derailed. At this hour, there are a few carts set up to be mobile desert trays for those patrons who've just eaten lunch. Thinking that she was wrong to even attempt to sit in one place with her friend, Jalleia nods to Ayai as the female moves before the cart.

"You wish to know of me..? Well, there's nothing much to know aside from what I told you long ago. I'm living, and ah.. am living quite well.

"Jaela rants now..?" suddenly curious, eyebrows lifting. "I hardly remember her speaking other than to give orders.. Well, that's ah.. a small change, but I assume she's getting the hang of her duties. Are they still that unhappy with me?" she speaks through a smile, clearly amused at the thought of their armor in a kink over what she'd done.

Jalleia decides to keep Alex from the conversation until Ayai shows her interest. There was nothing else like dangling a treat in front of someone's eyes.

Ayai

"Kim'jael! Kim'jael!" Ayai repeats, shaking her head from side to side in utter hatred for the continuance of the present conversation. Primed eyebrows knit close as she returns her attention Jal, lifting a finger as if to cut her off. Even if Jal was finished with her question. "Kim'jael."

The lifted finger joined the rest as she sailed a hand over the cart in contemplation of a tasty treat, plucking what appeared to be a crispy one shelled in oogles of chocolate. She smiled politely to the man, and strode along, entirely oblivious to the fact that one would have to pay to take such a thing and chow down upon it.

"Living quite well, Jal-Jal? Oh, Koi-Koi so certain to know, zat zew live like now, j'ah?" she comments, sneaking a glance over one shoulder as a second bite was taken. She was considerate enough to speak only between bites for the time being. "And so of curious minds wish to know, if not the Koi-Koi, you speak of males. Is your Korlian wishing to court my Koi-Koi so openingly, now? To think, curious of Ayai-Ayai."

Munch, munch. The remainder of the chocolate crisp was lobbed over a shoulder, running sticky fingers along the silken fabric that concealed a trimmed, curvy hip. She wasn't one to lick up every last morsel so soon in the afternoon, of course.

Her strides ceased mid-step as another cart was examined, this time of folded articles of clothing. Of the most notable, patches were seemingly in style from this fine lad of no older than fifteen. Considering his age, this would have to be his first real attempt at selling to the outside world his tailored acts. A still slightly dirtied hand clasped a shirt, drawing it up to the large goggles. "Koi-Koi ask, Koi-Koi know. What is this rubbish? You!" Pointing to the child. "Koi-Koi condemns acts! Zat zee way dat zew tenk, you sell? VELL!?"

Ramblings were ramblings, and as quickly as she had begun to scold the child for selling patched goods on the open market, before her very presence no less, the shirt was unfolded and cast upon the child's head. She scoffed, and turned to Jal with a second knitting of eyebrows. This time, a suggest glare was beneath the bright ruby. "Show me to your chambers. The Koi-Koi are most unpleased with this unsightly Fa'lah!"

Jalleia was sure to press a silver coin to the pastry male's forehead, chuckling a response to Ayai's question about Korlian.

"You would have to speak to him yourself about that, dear, I'm sure he'll listen to you." Something in that tone suggests otherwise.

"Curious minds, correct..? Mm.. what can I say about Alex.." a gloved finger lifts and plays with her chin as she follows at a distance behind Ayai. The pastry remains bounce a ways from her boots, and she sidesteps it, giving it a look. "He's fairly tall, long pale hair and green eyes. Very handsome and comfortable.. I'm ah.. sure you'd like him," she says coyly, giving Ayai's back a wink.

Even through the rampage on the poor ruffian's wares, Jalleia keeps walking, maroon lips ever smiling. The only thing that halts her steps is Ayai's stare.

"I doubt that my room would be much more to your liking, however, Korlian has let me decorate, so we shall see.. You also need your own lodgings, and they always seem to have one available. Mine is quit full, you see."

Ayai

Date: 2008-02-15 04:58 EST
The stare remained intact. Long, hard, and direct. Hardly a blink, although let it be known ruby glass refused to announce such a hardened state. Ayai's mouth flipped open, flicking her tongue back and forth to tap the insides of her cheeks as she considered Jal's words carefully. "Ahhlicks? Who the Koi-Koi Fa'lah is a Ahhlicks?? I was referring to your Kor-Kor."

The senile elf snarled at the little one before closing the distance between the two elves, causing her delicate, conservative dress to flutter briskly in the wake of her steps. Heavy sleeves draped over Jal's shoulders as Ayai rested her wrists onto blades. "The courting of my Koi-Koi with your Kor-Kor is more interesting than your Ahhlicks.

"Although," she quickly interjected, gaze diverting to one side in contemplation. "Maybe your Ahhlicks and Kor-Kor can interest us Koi-Koi."

Leering, Ayai closed the distance between them to get a decent look at Jal. Even the goggles were pulled up to reveal pure malachite that delivered a piercing glare, nearly too bright for natural eyes to gaze directly at. She squinted in near determination to this suggestion. The closeness between them allowed soft tinkles of chains upon slender, pointed ears to sound merrily. A quiet sucking of air pocketed safely in her cheeks, presenting a bloated expression as brows perked. Then expelled gently at Jal, wafting of resembling spearmint.

The goggles were snapped over her eyes in haste, reverting to her previous stance by the boy, glaring with renewed, seething hatred for the child's choice of garments. "I sleep with the Jal-Jal, or the Ayai-Ayai returned home with the Koi-Koi.

"You. Decide."

Jalleia

A genuine look of surprise coats the porcelain mask of her features, and then disappears just as quickly. A side glance is given to Ayai's arms as her own snake around her waist, hands clasping at the small of her back.

"My apologies," she whispers, studying Ayai's now goggle-less face. "Although, I thought you remembered Korlian quite well, he's ah.. not one to change so drastically.." Jalleia's voice trails off as she listens to Ayai's proposal of Korlian and Alex. The dark smile she gives her hints that this prospect has also been in the back of her mind. She chuckles as Ayai pulls away, and Jalleia folds her arms over her puffy jacket.

"I sleep with the Jal-Jal, or the Ayai-Ayai returned home with the Koi-Koi. You. Decide."

Twice in the same conversation has her expression changed. The shock seen in Jalleia's eyes is quickly hidden, however, as she thinks quickly.

'I share a room with Korlian, though he's hardly around.. Alex usually takes his place.. There is no way I'm going to take in another boarder, especially one that-.. Remember the prize. Collar shopping is nigh!'

"Whoever said I wouldn't abandon my own room to stay in yours, mm? And please no nonsense about wanting to stay in my original room, there's not even a small balcony area, it's preposterous.." she shakes her head, golden curls breaking loose from her temples and swaying in the breeze. "I would like a change of scenery, otherwise I ah.. won't be a very happy bunkmate," as the cogs and gears work in her mind, she keeps her face as stony as ever, watching Ayai closely.

Ayai

"Fa'lah!" Ayai spouted loudly, turning on a plated boot and began to move away. The suitcase that was nearly forgotten was pried from the cobblestone into hand. "Endala finel endal! Where does the Koi-Koi assume we shall find our stay, Jal-Jal? To request our presence, from our divine nature amongst the ruby knights, yet cease to bask within glorious eye-sight?"

The large suitcase was hugged much like it were a teddy bear within the hands of a small child. Her chin was propped within the crevasse of the handle that was limp from lacking use. "Does you aggrevate the Koi-Koi so? Does you not understand the Ayai-Ayai claims!?" She question with a shrill.

"IF, and IF, the Jal-Jal wishes to keep the Koi-Koi pleased, she will find for us adequate arrangements.

"Mm? Bandal!"

Jalleia

"Endala finel endal! Where does the Koi-Koi assume we shall find our stay, Jal-Jal? To request our presence, from our divine nature amongst the ruby knights, yet cease to bask within glorious eye-sight?"

"It is something of a travesty, isn't it?" Jalleia peers curiously at Ayai, having no clue why she was throwing such a tantrum. Sure she realized that the place Jalleia was staying in was in fact an inn.. with many rooms. Perhaps she didn't.

"Does you aggravate the Koi-Koi so? Does you not understand the Ayai-Ayai claims!?"

Jalleia's long ears twitch many times as she nears Ayai and slides an arm about the smaller elf's shoulders. Immediately afterwards, she turns in a direction, and is sure to be dragging Ayai along with her.

"Come now, cheer up, would you? Would you be more willing if I threw a few of Korlian's garments into the deal? And it's not like we'll be that far apart, dear, I'm staying in the same building. The Red Dragon has many suitable lodgings, and ah.. I'm sure you'll find something to your liking. I'm more concerned of your privacy," she says, nodding, although that statement was hardly true. Jalleia looks down to Ayai and gives her shoulder an affectionate squeeze.

Ayai

She was willingly drug along, merely presenting a pout and slight drag to her step to mask the fact that she was now getting exactly what it was she wanted. "Koi-Koi. We're pleased to know that you'd so easily deprive yourself of the attention of many to assist the Ayai-Ayai in her recent adventure. We do not generally leave the confines of our city.

"At least," with a wide smile. "Not most recent Jal-Jal. Since our times in the crevasses of the barren wastes and the forests in fierce battle, or the ingido land of sunder, the Koi-Koi find ourselves without much success." Which was spoken with a hint of truth. She huffed heavily as she slipped from the grasp of her elven friend, and pranced ahead some yards away.

"To compensate with Kor-Kor's clothing would be mundane. We Koi-Koi shall first consider this meeting with your Ahhlicks. Only then will we see what the tides consider." She pivoted, moving back towards Jal with a long, snake-like lean towards her friend to consume the gap between them. Her batting lashes forgotten behind ruby goggles. "Show us Koi-Koi!"

Jalleia

They had by this time neared the inn enough so that Ayai would be able to see its north-west corner. Her arm lifts and she gestures to it just as her friend slipped from her side. She chuckles to the recount of her misfortunes.

"I do apologize that I wasn't there to aid you in some fashion, dear." Jalleia's arms fold over her chest as she studies Ayai, her expression changing from serene to surprise once more.

"To compensate with Kor-Kor's clothing would be mundane. We Koi-Koi shall first consider this meeting with your Ahhlicks. Only then will we see what the tides consider."

"You're serious, correct? Oh, my dear, you lift my spirits like no other," Jalleia says, welcoming the small elf to her side with a brief nuzzle to the very point of the nearest pointed ear. "I shall arrange the meeting as soon as I am able, but first, we must reacquaint you with something I like to call relaxation. You've worked yourself hard, my dear, it's time for you to rest."

Once again, Jalleia began to pull her friend along the rest of the way to the door and to the interior of the inn.
