Topic: I Have to Get A Job?!

Rayvinn had the very attractive young man from the boutique carrying bags to her doorstep. She had paid him to drive her home and carry her purchases simply because she had purchased much more than she could carry. There were four bags of nothing but velvety boxes housing necklaces, earrings, rings and bracelets. Mostly bracelets and earrings. She had decided her jewelry box was appearing a bit drab and needed a few new items. She had also taken inventory of her closet and noticed that the large rack of purses along one wall had several open spots that looked rather hideous. Hence purchasing twenty-three new purses. Excessive, of course. That was Rayvinn's normal mode of operation...lavish excessiveness. A grand total of her shopping trip today was enough to feed and house a family for many years. This didn't seem to phase her.
The code was punched in to the security system and she opened the door and motioned the eye candy to enter, smiling as he expertly carried all fourteen bags inside. The door was shut and she motioned him on into the kitchen and pointed at the dining table. "Just set those down right there, Javier. You are a darling for helping." Already reaching into her purse for a tip, she offered him a winsome smile before holding out the pouch of coins. "Would you like something to drink before you leave?" Ever the properly mannered hostess.

"Yes, would ye like a drink?" Jono had heard Raye enter as he was in the living room reading, and he saw the man enter with all of the bags and Raye follow him to the kitchen. Bookmarking the chapter in his novel before following after, the smile he gave to the man would be what one might think of as a smile a serial killer gives before murdering his victim; not too far off in this instance. Jono's tall frame and build could come across as intimidating when he desired, and this was such a time. The young man apparently got the hint, and he quickly took the offered tip with a "T-thanks! Gotta go!" before he found his own way out the door. Jono watched the man go before turning a much softer smile to Raye, walking across to greet her with a kiss to her full lips. The shock of all of her bounty would come after he gave that kiss to the elf; she was always the focus of his attention, especially after they were apart.

Thin, inky brows were drawn together as she frowned slightly, watching Javier quickly walk away. Attention shifted to Jono and she tilted her head ever so slightly, accepting his kiss before expressing her displeasure. "Your behavior was atrocious, you realize? You appear as quite the brute at times and scare people. It won't be long until no one will carry my purchases for me because they are afraid of the crazy Mr. Rayvinn." Since she was on a first name basis with the majority of the sales clerks at the stores she frequented." She affected a slight pout, not really angry but wanting him to squirm a little. If he ruined her shopping trips, she would be requiring much more squirming!

"They can carry yer purchases to the door. So long as ye keep tipping them like that, I think ye'll be fine." He gave her a smile before brown eyes glanced over the multitude of items that she purchased. He leaned over toward one, tugging the bag open to see it full of purses. He then moved to look at another bag, seeing yet another one full of purses. "Ah, Raye, how many purses do ye need? I know that we can afford it, but for how long? And then people are going to ask what I do and what ye do for jobs... I don't really want people to know I killed for a living." There was just a slight frown as he looked back to her. He truly wasn't upset with her spending money, but the questions it would bring about both of them and where the money came from.

Blink. Blink. She had the most dumbfounded look upon her face as he asked her about purses and money. She drew a light breath and set her features before beginning to speak to him in a tone of voice that was very soft and slow to show she was trying to be exceedingly patient with him. "Sugarlips, I need nearly as many purses as I have outfits. I don't want to use the same one numerous times. As it is, I am greatly doing without an adequate number of purses but I am making due."

If he had any remembrance of moving her clothes and had paid attention to her purchases, he would know she was far from having her goal number of purses. "I am not in the slightest bit concerned about money running out. I have more than enough to run an entire kingdom, let alone fuel my small shopping trips. Just because you do not see the money does not mean it isn't in existence. It is not in merely one location." She arched a brow at him and reached up to draw him into a kiss that was an attempt to hide the activity of her other hand that was reaching behind her and pushing the jewelry bags a little further away from them so he wouldn't notice them. Or so she could hope.

That height was good for seeing things that would otherwise be hidden, although he wasn't about to deny either of them the kiss that he was drawn into. Though he did reach behind her, fingers running down the length of her arm to her wrist to indicate he was well aware of the action of that hand. Hair falling into his face as he pulled back, giving a smile.. her kisses always made him smile, no matter what his mood or frame of mind. "Raye, it isn't about it running out... it's about people questioning where it comes from. Does anyone know yer royalty? Does anyone know I made a living from a lifetime of taking lives? If we keep spending money, questions will lead to these answers."

Uh-oh busted! She did what anyone caught in that situation would do, she drew away from the kiss and pouted. Oh yes, it was a tactic that normally could bring around great results.

Her whole demeanor changed and cooled noticeably as he spoke of her birthright. "I do not have this money because I am the heir...I have this money because I took what was mine in blood money. I put a price on the lives Lialin stole from me and I ensured he would not have my kingdom's money to further his cause, which was to hunt me down after subjugating my people. There is more money than could ever be spent but it will never be enough to cover the cost of what I lost. So, if I want to fill that void with diamonds and purses and shoes, what business is it of anyone else?" She knew he hadn't brought this up to hurt her and he wasn't implying anything about the money but it was a festering wound, none-the-less. "Besides, I earned some of what wealth I possess by means other than stealing or harming others. Not a majority of it, of course, but some of it was honest pay." Maybe not really honest but it was pay.

She bent over and removed the white heels, tossing them aside before unfastening the garter and sliding her hose down each leg. She continued speaking as she did this, "What is it that you are suggesting, Jonothon? That I do not spend the money that is mine to spend for fear that someone will ask questions? Since when do you even care what others think? You have lived this life for so long, as have I, what has changed?" Oh, and she wiggled her right hand in his direction to remind him of his purchase of the nine carat diamond engagement ring. No one would notice that, right?

"That's exactly why ye shouldn't be spending so much of it so often. I have people who would find me if I went about spending all I've earned so often." He glanced down at the ring, knowing the point she was trying to make with it. Giving a sigh, he pushed a hand through his hair to move it from his face. "That was the most expensive thing I've ever bought, and I had to empty an account to buy it. But I emptied it into other smaller accounts and pulled from each of those so it couldn't be traced. Raye, if yer trading yer treasure for gold or for items... ye can be traced."

He didn't speak down to her, or in a chiding tone. But his words were carried with worry as he slid a hand down to capture that hand of hers which carried the engagement ring. "Ye have Lialin looking for ye... what if he found ye? Or found us here? Or if after years of this after we had a child, he found us then because of our extravagant living and knowing that there's an elf who always trades gems and has deliveries made here? I'm just asking ye to be careful."

The lovely tanned elf was suddenly a bit paler of face. There wasn't much that caused her to be afraid for herself. But she remembered every detail of her captivity and what Lialin had done to her family. She swallowed a few times, throat feeling tight as her mouth went dry and her hand became clammy. "All...all the more reason to do this now. Let him find me now, Melamin." Jono would likely not have a clue at how much he had shaken her when he mentioned Lialin finding her after they had a baby. There would be no mercy for that child and more than likely it would be a drawn out process while Raye was forced to watch. Just as it had happened so many years prior, only this time it would be her child.

She slumped into a chair, the stockings balled in one of her fists, knuckles as white as the material within that hand. (w) "Gods...you are right. Its never going to be over. It is time to pack up and leave." And as suddenly as she had dropped into that chair she was up and dashing past him, calling over her shoulder. "Just pack what you can carry, a few bags. Don't worry about supplies. I do have enough gold to keep us fed and supplied until we are far enough away to exchange gems for more gold." Apparently, she was right back into that mindset that screamed for her to run if she would survive.

"Raye!" He still had her hand, and he tugged as she went past him, attempting to keep her close. "What good would it do? We're as safe here as we are anywhere else. If ye run now what's to say it won't lead ye right to him? Maybe the last thing he'd expect would be to look for ye in a place like this, with someone else." He tried to pull her into his arms; maybe he could offer his own sense of protection and survival. Though he would run with her if it came down to that, he would go anywhere with her at a moment's notice. But he was sincere and felt that they were safer here than somewhere unknown. "We have friends and allies here, Raye."

She had burst past with with such fervor that she felt a jerk in her shoulder as he kept a hold of her arm. Jono's strength was far greater than her own and if he wanted to pull a fleeing elf into his arms, that is exactly where she would end up. Her fists were pressed to his chest as she stared up at him, almost unseeing. Her voice should have been full of the emotion that coursed through her hotter than her own blood but it was flat. "I had friends and allies in my kingdom. He butchered them. I won't have the blood of the innocent upon my hands again, Jono."

She shook her head, finally focusing upon his face, pale green eyes wide as she stared up at him. "You would have us stay here...and do what to solve this problem?" She was ready to run but unless she actually assaulted the man she loved, she was going nowhere. He had been a stabilizing force in her life in so many ways and now just by merely forcing her to stop, he had her thinking instead of merely reacting.

He didn't mean to be so rough in pulling her back in, so his hand was released as he gently rubbed her shoulder, leaning to place a kiss on her bare skin as an apology. "I promise ye nothing like that will happen again. If he keep running and deny yerself happiness, then ye'll be haunted forever. I love ye and if ye want to leave, then we'll leave. But I think we're safer here." His eyes found her jade hues, looking between the two as she stared at him. "Just not live so... luxuriously. We have all we need here, now. And I don't want to stop ye from shopping or anything, but we just have to cut back a little. Maybe each of us would need a job, and what we earn there we can use as spending money. But we're safe here, so long as we aren't flaunting who each of us are."

It had been her own momentum that had caused the pulling of that shoulder than him tugging her back. Still, she accepted the kiss and massage of her shoulder as she listened. "I trust you, Jono...but...he always finds me. If we run, we can keep our friends safe and he can't take you from me."

She was certain, after all, that something was going to ruin this happiness she had only just found. She had finally reconciled herself...no, that isn't right. She had finally willingly embraced the idea of being married to him, so she was absolutely certain something would now happen to ruin it. She just hadn't thought of Lialin. She would have, no doubt about it, as the black hearted elf was never far from her mind whether awake or as the star of her nightmares.

But what was this? Was Jono suggesting they...get jobs...like normal people. Settle down, get married, have jobs and kids and they had even talked about a pet. Almond shaped eyes widened even further beneath thick onyx lashes. "Oh gods...it has happened. We are chaining one another down into a life drowning in ordinary!" Though, there was really nothing ordinary about either of their lives let alone their collective one.

That made him blink, then he laughed. Giving a small shake of his head and grinning wide at her. "We aren't chaining each other down, love. We're putting on an appearance of ordinary. Both ye and I know that isn't the case, and at any time we can go or do whatever we want. I don't want ye to feel chained to me, Raye. But seeing as the fact is that both of us sort of caused a... scene at that bar last week, we don't want suspicions cast our way."

"But..but...the pet and the kid...getting married....jobs." She was about to begin a full fledged rant when he soothed her a little with the words "appearance of ordinary." Now that, she could accept. As well as recalling what they had done at the bar. "You are right...we do need to lay low and try to act normal."

She took a deep breath and nodded lightly before pressing her forehead to his chest and encircling his waist with her arms, clasping her hands behind his back. "I don't feel chained, my love. I feel blessed, though I have done nothing to deserve a blessing such as you."

Lifting her head, she gave him a small hint of a smile. "Shall we get dressed and go out and try to act like normal people? Perhaps apply for a job." Oh yes, her nose was indeed crinkled up in distaste at that idea!

"Yer asking me if I want ye to put more clothes on?" An eyebrow ticked upwards at that suggestion before he laughed softly, arms wrapped around her as he hugged her tightly. "I've been blessed with ye, Raye. Ye've given me purpose and something to live for. I would be lost without ye." Head titled as he pressed a kiss to the crown of her head, giving a happy sigh. "But if we must, we must. Though if we're going to try for a job, we should think of something that would be fun and not too stressful."

"You said we have to be ordinary. So no jobs involving killing, removing clothes, pirating, removing clothes or...removing clothes." Seems she thought Jono might decide to strip to earn a living, right? He did only just mention not wanting to put more clothes on!!

"I would prefer jobs where we left clothes on, yes." Nodding a few times. "And it would be best to not kill or pirate... and at a place where we wouldn't have to work often because, let's face it, we don't need to."

"And we are going to use our combined pay to fund my purse and shoe addiction? While not working much? Darlin', I will be very honest with you. We couldn't buy the heel off of one pair of my shoes with a month of our combined wages."

She unwadded the hose she had balled up in her fist and began smoothing the wrinkles from them. Stepping away from him and lifting a leg, she began to slide one of them over her foot and up her leg then repeated with the other leg. Satisfied that she was in pristine condition, she rehooked the garters and went to retrieve her shoes. "We can think of suitable jobs while are out." Retrieving her lipstick from her purse, she began touching up her make-up as she waited for him to get more clothes on. What a shame that was...she was always quite happy to see him in his boxers only. Seemed to be such a waste to cover perfection.

He was too busy watching her to make any motion of his own toward the bedroom. Head tilted as he leaned to one side as she llifted a leg to slide the stockings on so he had a better view. Then she spoke and he blinked, grinning fiercely. "Right! Think of jobs while out! I'll get dressed!" And he turned around, though that just led him back into the kitchen. Then with a snicker he turned around and tried to play off that misstep as he walked past. "Er, I'm not thirsty after all. Let me go upstairs and get some clothes on! Ye look lovely, by the way." Nodding a few times.

"Yes, darling, why don't you go upstairs and get some clothes on. If you are a good boy and do that quickly, I will buy you a drink while we are out." Spoken in a teasing oh-so-patient tone as she was quite aware of what had caused his misdirected steps. She found this to be quite amusing and one of his endearing qualities, being rendered senseless by the sight of her. Isn't that what every woman wished from the man she loved?
