Beautiful, beautiful boy.....

Close your eyes
Have no fear
The monster's gone
He's on the run and your daddy's here

Before you go to sleep
Say a little prayer
Every day in every way
It's getting better and better

Out on the ocean sailing away
I can hardly wait to see you come of age
But I guess, we'll both just have to be patient
'Cause it's a long way to go, a hard row to hoe

Beautiful, beautiful boy....

There was a certain peace that had settled over Belglade and Shai was quite convinced, that Spring had a lot to do with it. There was a lively bounce to everyone's step, and a jovial sound to milling voices.

Day by day, hour by hour, the chill of winter was leaving bones, and the warmth of spring begins to fill all veins. The sun seemed a bit brighter, and the colors a bit richer. Flowers are bursting from the ground giving the air a sweet smell. Animals emerge from their sleepy hollows to chitter and chatter. A crisp mist greeted by morning and a warm night waves goodnight in the evenings.

Nikolai was nearly 10 months of age and growing, like one of the spring fed weeds in the garden. He was into everything and had gained mobility on chunky knees. Shai could watch him for hour's, as he explored and played. The children of Belglade were always a source of companionship to him and held his attention in perfect check.

His demeanor, was entirely filled with giggles and squeal's. He loathed bedtime, but his fussiness was short lived as he would catch sight of the ceiling in his nursery and was once again content enough to drift into exhausted slumber. Inky locks were near touching his little shoulder's and the splinter-dash of green and brown in his gaze, got brighter and brighter.? Gifted with limitless expression's, Shai would never deny, the boy was the spitting image of his father, lest one was to consider the color of his hair. A heady mix it was.

Life was settled into. More and more, Shai resembled a disheveled mommy, in her not so brocaded fabrics and messy hair piled atop her head, instead of the perfect and pristine Lady everyone was so accustomed. She was comfortable in her own skin and it suited her.

Business matter's also seemed to be settled comfortably, and it was nothing for Shai to pass off a sticky Nikolai to the courier without a blink, while she signed document's to be returned to the Solicitor.

All in all, things were just fine in Belglade.
