Watching Shai swaddle Nikolai after his warm bath, Rochelle spoke up. "Shai, have you begun to think of Nikolai's christening ceremony as of yet?" The woman knew her to be stretched piano wire tight these day's, but it was something that needed attention for the coming month's.

"Oui, I have, Rochelle. It will be planned after the new year, fairly swiftly, I think." Giving the child a nuzzling kiss to his neck, she cradled him close and turned to face Rochelle with a little smile.

"Of course, Kruger and I must discuss it and decide upon Godparent's as well how the ceremony should unfold. Religion is not something he approaches very easily, but it is a necessity."

As far as Shai knew, Kruger did not practice a particular faith, he had little to say about the God's as a whole. Which seemed rather ironic, considering Shai was Greek.

"Indeed....as well unless the Godparent is of the Orthodox faith, they cannot serve as such. At least not beneath the typical criteria." Rochelle, busied herself pouring out the bath water and adding more wood to the bath stove.

A non Greek/Eastern Orthodox person may have limited participation in the baptismal service but may not fully participate in the sacrament.? This is because they do not profess the same Creed as Orthodox Christians.?

A Godparent who is a full Eastern Orthodox Christian must be named who can fully participate in the sacraments of the baptism.

If there are two Godparents and one is not Christian Orthodox, the Christian Orthodox Godparent will be the one to serve as the official sponsor ? and can not rub the oil on the baby or sign the baptismal certificate.

"I am thinking to perhaps make this a simple christening for Niko and not of one of specific faith..." Shai's word's were presented carefully to Rochelle.

This, however did not stop the absolute astonished look upon the older woman's face. Genuinely shocked, Rochelle looked away and was folding a towel.

"All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples off all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded You; and lo, I am with you always, to the close of the ages." (Matthew 28; 16-20)

"This is what matter's, Shai....it is never simple..."
