Brian left the Abbey in a rather foul mood, and with good reason. It seems the entire matter dealing with the child and artifact was taken out of his hands. In truth he was a bit relieved, but it bothered him in the way it was done.

Once he was back in town he made for his office, and wrote a letter to Katharine.


Kat,

I know we spoke earlier in regards to the child, and what I wanted to try to do. I visited the Abbey and spoke with Mother, they advised I am not to pursue this any further. They are apparently dealing with this and I am not to be trusted due to my own dealings with the artifact. In any event, please disregard what we spoke of, and I will be in contact soon. Take care and as always my best to you and the children.

Brian handed the letter to a courier and watched the lad take off on his horse. Moments later Brian headed back towards the Inn.
