Skyler was always trying to think of new, interesting ways to express his feelings for Jewell. He thought he had done a fair job so far. He had written poetry, love letters, given her a motorcycle, stood up for her honor, fought her husband alongside her. Furthermore, he had expressed his love in its physical form time after glorious time. But, he knew he could do more.

The day after his excursion at the Crouch Pit, Skyler borrowed the Hummer long enough to make a special delivery. Under the warm August sun, he drove to Jewell?s villa. Beside him, in the passenger seat, sat the suitcase full of silver he had earned the previous night.

He was glad to find she wasn?t home. This surprise would be much better if she were to come home and discover it rather than him simply bringing it by.

Skyler let himself inside ? she had told him he was always welcome, and he had certainly already spent many blissful nights with Jewell here ? and made his way to her bedroom. Once inside, he emptied the entire suitcase onto her bed, all one thousand silver crowns. The coins were freshly minted and polished and shiny. They glimmered like a sea of silver stars on her mattress.

He found some paper and penned her note.

Jewell,

I had a pretty good night at work last night. These are for you. I thought you might want to do some shopping. Enjoy!

Love,

Skyler Jackson Chamberland

He left the note on the top of the pile of silver, then exited the villa. He felt happy. Giving always made him feel happy, especially when he had worked very hard for the gift he gave.

Sometimes it felt like the Divines, if they really existed or not was merely a technicality, were against her. She was having another bad week and these bad weeks were starting to blend together and form a series of bad months and perhaps would eventually total a bad year.

Okay, maybe that was being just a tad dramatic. She was having an awful day, though. Ever since yesterday she had this empty feeling inside that weighed heavily upon her. She didn't know what it was from, or perhaps refused to identify it. Add that to the knowledge imparted to her by Des regarding Skyler and she was just in low spirits.

She chose to avoid her children so they would not notice her distraction and depression. She sent them on a picnic in the park with one of their governesses while she opted for solitary rambles along the ocean's edge. She could easily get lost in thought there, losing track of time. Night had fallen long ago when she finally did return home, ignoring the soaked and salted state her clothes were in.

She crept through the halls, it was so very easy for the fae not to alert anyone to her presence. She was ever silent when she wished to be, her feet need not touch the floor if she desired such. However, as silent as she may wish to be, she could not contain her little squeak of surprise at finding her bed covered in shine-ies! Not just any shine-ies, though, money!

She approached her bed with a smile growing on her lips despite herself. The note was easy to spot amidst the shimmering silver and she lifted it to read. She felt her anger towards Skyler ebbing a little-- it had already been turning passive under that pressure-like emptiness inside.

Too tired to count it all, she didn't really care, and feeling light-hearted at the idea of shopping and the kind gesture she simply threw herself onto her new bed of coins with a small, girlish laugh.
