A light sigh escaped from parted lips as he walked up the hill that overlooked the wide lake. He always enjoyed the calm tranquil sounds that the small river produced as it flowed from the edge, creating a vivid waterfall - and arching rainbow upon a sunny day. As he slowed, he motioned outwards to the world that was before him, "Well, this is it."

The little girl with him, who was a common figure at his side since their escape from the link, slowly peered over the edge, and out to the vast display before him. Alex always liked to tease that it was, 'the summit of the world'.. even if it was far from the highest point. Her emerald hues widened a bit at the display.

"Different from your world, I imagine?.." Least since his brief visit. Between cities was empty void..which left him wondering if the cities were built amongst the stars, or if it simply was a world seperate from what he was familiar to. ".. yeah. I figured. Anyway.. we can set you up here.. it's out of the way from people - so you can't really be bothered, much." He looked down to her, a light smile present. "And, of course, it's not too far from the house."

She appeared to protest as she turned to look up at him.

"What..? Well.. see, we have a bundle of kids, already. Not to mention I don't know how Jewell will react. After all.. I seen her for days.. and she didn't say a darn thing about it when I came back with Renna at our porch. I'm sure everyone's got this bright idea I'm sleeping with her," He simply shook his head as he looked out. It honestly appeared to have no limit, "Besides. At least you'll be safe, here."

Her head shook, as she lept forth to cling to his leg. For a girl that was supposed to be the savior of some world, she sure didn't act like much. He didn't even sense anything from her, against people like Jewell.. hell, even rabbits. He found himself sighing, then. ".. alright. Then.. well.. you know.. I can't hardly say ever say no! Fine! You can come with me. I don't know what Jewell is going to say, though.. this isn't exactly all clear to me, either." She smiled up to him, her grip tightening. Reaching over, he snatched her up into arms. ".. then let's go meet the crew."

As he arrived to the home, he glanced to the child that was on his shoulders. "Okay, the lady is Jewell.. and the kids .. we'll meet them as we go." He wasn't sure why he was telling her, this, since she has yet to say a word. But, with a shake of his head, he popped open the door and made his way inside. "We're home!"

There was a surprise for her as she worked in her study- Alex was home. Purposely situated near the main entrance so she could intercept anyone coming into her home if she wanted to, Jewell's study was her haven. Bookcases were set into the walls and filled with books from all over the galaxy, scrolls too. She had been working on a small library but these books were for her own use; they were on topics of particular interest to her: magic, the study of manna and ley lines, species, space exploration, music, literature.

She left the book she had been studying-A Geographical Study of Planet 54-open on her desk as she went to greet her husband. She leaned casually in the doorway, the door itself was usually left an itsy bit open for the kids to poke their head in just to see she was there, a brow raised for Alex and the child on his shoulder.

"Darn...did I forget I had another child sometime?" She could be so dry sometimes, "Or is that an illegitimate child of yours from someone else?" She added a little smirk to the latter question, it wasn't meant to sting.

The many possible responses he could have started with didn't seem fitting. Especially with the 'wonderful' greeting he recieved. The girl was slipped from his shoulders and set to one side. She never actually touched the ground - it was something he rarely saw her do, "Is that all you think of me, now?.." Perhaps it didn't mean to sting, but it certainly hit the mark. He only sighed at her as he reached out to take the girl by the hand, leading her towards the stairs to head up, ".. no. She's not an illegitimate child of mine from someone else. She's not even mine." He glanced to Cat with a little smile, motioning ahead of him, "Go on up and say helllo.." He blinked, "Er.. well, go up and head down the hall. We'll get you situated, in a bit." He playfully bumped her in the back with a hand before turning around to Jewell, "What's wrong with you?" His voice lined with a certain concern that generally was lacking in almost any other situation. She'd always be his weakness, which constantly stirred in him when something seemed out of place.

Jewell watched the little girl, frowning at Alex's question. He really knew how to sap away any good mood she was in. Everything always turned into a fight with him.

They'd get her situated? A brow was raised as Alex just sent the strange little girl up the stairs with no other directions then that and to "say hello." She wondered briefly if the little girl would get lost, wandering room to room confused as to who she was to say hello to.

As the little girl disappeared from sight on the stairs, she switched grey eyes back to Alex. Her brow furrowed, lips curled down when they had so recently been up. "What's wrong with me? How about what's wrong with you, Alex. You say you're back but you're never around and who the hell knows what you're actually up to. You go about, talking to Renna as if its no big deal, ignoring any warning that she's a compulsive liar. Then you just waltz on in here with some strange little girl and when I try to joke with you, you have to get all defensive." She had straightened from her lean, her voice kept low so the children would not hear.

He smiled to Cat as she took off, but had fallen quite mediocre as he returned to Jewell, "Whoa.. easy.. I only ask because of your question.. a little strange for a greeting, Jewell." He rolled his shoulders.. "Anyway - since you ask.."

He explained the story, then, to her. Everything about the girls, and their claims of who he was, to them. The entire claim of how they're his 'sisters'. Simply everything. His explanation held much concern as he went on, but he was sure to involve everything that he had recently been through, other than his time in Lazros.

"It's all because I went to the Villa.. I don't know what ties it may have - but I really believe it's because of her.. something about what's gone on there.. she's using it to field a strength." He was pacing as he finished the story, then looking to her. "That's Cat that I sent up. I'm sorry I haven't been here like I said I would be - but it's really not all been under my control. Typical story.. but.. if she could talk - she'd tell you herself. It's only temporary, at least until either she can explain what needs to happen, or I finish understanding it myself. As for me speaking with Renna," He continued. His pacing slowed as he looked back to her directly, "I know she's a liar. A user. An evil bitch. I know all of it - and I know because she tried to kill you.. harm you. Do you honestly think I'd ever want to 'consult' with someone that would do that to you? From what I found out before I talked to her.. she hates Brian.. in fact, hates Ravenlocks. As long as I have her totally believing that I do, too.. I can dip far into that well and see exactly where that rabbit hole goes. .. just like I did back when we first met, Jewell... I simply cannot let someone bring harm to you and let it go untouched. If she wants to lie, and use.. so will I. I promise you.. it's not for anything else other than for the benefit of me.. or us."

He looked at her after his rant, blinking only briefly to her. "I'm sorry I haven't been here.. or able to explain all of this to you, before now. When we were ranting that one evening.. I.. well, I wanted to tell, but I didn't know how.. or what to do. I don't want to fight with you.. over anything. You mean entirely the world and beyond. I'm sorry.. I know this is my fault.."

He realized all along the children weren't very far off, which is why his rant was quiet, and quick. Cat, on the otherhand, he already knew she would head to their bedroom and wait for him to come up. The near direct connection they had would cause such.

"So.. talk to me. Any questions..? Comments?" He slid over next to her, hands out to take hold of her better arm and hand. As always, he urged for that special contact.

She watched him silently as he paced and told his story, lips pressed thin. The details weren't overly important to her at the moment, she'd get them straight later. There was the slightest tinge of alarm; did she really want Alex and this little girl, magnets for trouble perhaps, mixed up with the children right now? It was one more thing to worry about and she shifted her shoulders as if to adjust that imaginary weight.

When he came to speak of Renna her expression completely soured. This she would not let go and excuse, "Alex, I don't care what your intentions are however noble and touching they may be concerning Renna and myself. I know she hates Brian. I don't care; I have simply washed my hands clean of her until she makes herself a hindrance again. And I don't care for the sneaky techniques of deceit either.

"So she tried to kill me, it has happened before and will probably happen again. All the more reason not to trust her and be uneasy about anyone who has dealings with her that are not clear and out in the open. I don't need you to pretend to be her friend for my benefit. Renna is a temporary annoyance, not a major problem in my life."

You mean entirely the world and beyond. It was a nice sentiment, often repeated between the two of them. A nice sentiment that she was sometimes hard pressed to put faith in when all they did was fight and live separate lives. She allowed him to take her hand with another dry comment said almost begrudgingly, "Nice to finally know what you actually do with yourself when you're not here." If he failed to bring a smile with that touch to her arm and hand it was no surprise to her. She had been in an almost perpetually bad mood for weeks now and his near presence didn't have a great enough affect to change it.

"It's deserving for her, being sneaky and deceitful herself," It was his reply to her not caring for sneaky techniques of deceit. "However, if you believe honestly she is not a 'major problem', as you say, then I will speak to her no more. I have no interest in her, otherwise. We'll just have to do it the old fashion way when the time comes around, then." He sighed, afterwards. The touch lightened up, as he felt little to no reaction to it. "I'm sorry for speaking to her. I did not realize it was that bad." There were no other words he could muster other than those on the subject.

".. heh, well.. you did always mention how much you missed the old days. They're sorta here!" It was a light comment to attempt a smile. He even had one curling at the tips of his lips as he mentioned it.

It was true, though - the several times he's shown company, it hadn't been on the best of terms. And, he'd not deny it, he wasn't the absolute best, recently. "But - I also apologize I have not been.. well.. the best of company. This has all been.. rather taxing, to say the least. And I'm sure I can say that neither of us want to fight, even if it's a common thing in life." He pulled that gaze away from her, and looked over the study. Other than the one spell tome he toated around, his interest carried over into diverse history. He'd really have to sit down and see what all she had. The brief pause he managed forced him to change the subject. He really wished for the stale attitudes to taper off like a fog, "What do you think - if we got out of here for a bit? Took a trip out? Get a cabin somewhere - with this really big lake. Like a giant pool! Bet we could even get Brian and Charlotte - finally get that 'dinner' put together that he was talking about. Could be really nice." He whirled around to her, then, smile more present than before.

She huffed a little, "Can you stop apologizing? You're not a kid and I'm not your mother. We're adults, we do things...they happen for good or bad and we move on." It was a dream world. Reality didn't work that way. Why was she still dwelling on killing that man if it did? She didn't have anyone to apologize to for that.

The change of subject raised the smallest of smiles, a pathetic attempt on her part. "Getting away sounds pretty nice, when have we ever done that?" It sounded even nicer that he wanted to try and include Brian and Charlotte. A grin formed as she really thought the idea over, "But you gotta figure out what we do about the kids."

He blinked for a minute, having though he mentioned them. "Well - we could always find us a nanny. Er.. hm. They could always come with, too... but I was kinda hoping we'd get you away from being mother hen .. and just be Jewell. I miss Jewell.." He'd mock a pout as he reached out for her, again, ".. more than I'd let on, too.."

His mind trailed, briefly, to Cat, who had been upstairs probably waiting on him. As he looked over his shoulder, though, he saw her peering from the stairs down at them. He only nodded, lightly, turning his attention back to Jewell, the fake pout ever present, "As for apologizing.. I'll stop - the second I quit making some stupid mistakes. I want to make you happy.. and sometimes.. I just don't know how I can. It may not always be something I can do.. but no matter.. I won't ever stop trying.." He was too sappy for his own good - and if there were any other person able to bring it out of him, he'd probably kill himself. It was making him slightly lose face, though - which is why he quickly reverted to the previous subject, "Whatever happened to our last nanny? I thought she was still around?" Being a year out of the loop wasn't always beneficial.

Something about the idea of "just being Jewell" again rubbed her the wrong way. She was really trying here, for him, to be happy and smiley and all that nonsense. Take one step forward and two steps back, "I am Jewell. This," she made a wild gesture around to the house, "is me...not some girl you worship in your memory, love." She spoke without the bite of dryness- she was long resigned to the fact that she was not the same person of a year ago, three years ago. He obviously wasn't.

"And you don't have to make me happy, Alex. That's not your job. I have to make myself happy. Its up to me," and what did that say about her current disposition? She frowned a little, thinking over how that sounded, "I mean...like I don't want you to help to make me miserable, by any means. Its just that, its not any of your 'stupid mistakes' that makes me solely unhappy by any means.

"And our children have two governesses now...kind of like nannies only better because they teach them too."

"Pardon," Lightly, as he looked her over a moment, "but I don't worship a memory. Or a girl of my memory. My missing you - is my missing you for not always being by you like I used to. It is something that I miss, and is what I'm getting at. Not a memory of how you were. Or what I remember of you. As for this," The same wild motion was made, "I understand this is you. This has been you years before, perhaps with a little added flare. It's no different."

He took several steps so to lean up against a near wall, legs crossing just at the ankles, "And I understand it's not a job of mine, or I don't have to make you happy. I'd just like to. It's part of the packaged deal of my loving you. I understand, in the end, it's all up to you. I'd just like to assist, if it is possible. And, if I can't, then I'll just trot along and simply be here for you. Otherwise.. what good am I?" He looked just past her, then, at that consideration. He shook his head, then, planting a smile that was much larger than before as he looked back at her, "Well.. I'm just glad to be home, and with you.. hope I didn't worry you all that much."

She kept silent for a moment, words weren't always needed and she tended to speak too soon. The more she thought over his words the less she had to say. It was necessary to speak all of the time, to always have a defense ready or a sharp word.

She swore she could hear her old Mistress of Decorum yelling in her ear to keep her big mouth shut right about now.

When she did speak, it was too address his last statement. She had calmed herself down in minutes, pushed all those messy emotions under the surface. Who needed them?

"Worry?" She gave a little shrug and smile combination, "I guess so. I mean, I always worry to some degree but one of us going off without explanation for days at a time is not exactly unusual so...I didn't get any gray hairs or anything from anxiety." She gave a little flip of her curls then, "I couldn't have my perfect image ruined, yah know?"

Alex Ravenlock

He chuckled, in response, "It is rather true. I guess it's an old habit we'll have to fix .. the whole 'going out and not leaving notice.'" Of which he already planned to do, himself. At least, when he could, "And - regardless what you or anyone else says, there is little chance that you'd ruin your perfect image. I mean.. it's you, afterall." He adjusted his stance, legs having swapped positions. "Regardless.. I'm only keeping Cat here for a few days.. sorta - to just settle down for a bit. I can't say she's had the luxury to do such a thing since she was born. Show her around, kinda like a tourist. The inn, the temple - even my old villa," He added that last bit in there on a whim, "Then, when all is good and well, I'll take her back where she needs to be." Which was more complicated then he'd initially believe. He rolled his shoulders, both out of tension and to further what he was explaining.

Words.. he hated them. In fact, he never liked using them - mainly because anything he expressed was a garbled jumble of senselessness. Which is where he constantly reminded himself - stay low, quiet, and keep close to what you believed in mind. Having to explain all that he had to, now, made it hard. His arms crossed over his chest as he regarded Jewell, again, remaining to smile, and remaining still.
