Brian arrived back in Rhydin not long after sundown. He had just gotten back from Bastok in Vana'diel where he had some work to do with Henrietta and Narin concerning a rare metal called Vitrallum that needed to be obtained. Once that was done Brian also needed to pack whatever he had left behind in his Mog House (An apartment in the residential district) and bring it back to Rhydin with him. Luckily he didn't have too much in the way of property left in Vana'diel. His break up with Gorg pretty much solidified that little fact. He made a mental note.. Never leave all of your property at the home of your lady love and expect to get it all back in the event of a break up. He laughed to himself and remembered when he would never leave any of his belongings at home of any woman he was involved in. Ah the days when life was much simpler in Rhydin. After he was done packing his horse Brian decided it was time to go back home to drop off his items. That being the case he set out for the Northern town gates and to his Villa.

Brian drew some curious looks as he rode his horse along the cobblestoned path. He nodded politely and wondered why he had recieved some of the looks he had gotten, and then he laughed to himself a bit. He was still dressed in in his Federation Aketon and Ranger gear, and colored in two shades of green, black and gold. An outfit not worn by many in Rhydin, if any at all. He made a note not to wear to many outfits from Vana'diel while in town, as he didn't like to stand out. Leaving the town gates Brian then headed North and soon was taking that familiar right turn and then down the dirt trail that in about a mile would lead him home. With the moon light as his only source of light Brian looked around the area as he continued. The ground still covered in a light blanket of snow, gave the illusion that the ground was a literal sea of white, save the various naked trees about the area. Soon he saw the lights from the Villa and he smiled. "She kept her word."he said as he rode towards the house. Through the wrought iron gate, and up the small path that lead through the door he went. From the front the house looked the same as it was over two years aho when he last lived there. Since then he had paid a woman by the name of Emeralda to look after the Villa. He trusted her enough for the job and if she got out of line then Jean-Luc would have alerted him. He trusted the large Moor Cat more than he trusted himself at time and was think of him when he looked to the porch and saw his eyes. "Took ya long enough, ya mangy cat." Stopping the horse and hopping off, Brian then took off the saddle bags and tossed them to the porch. Taking a moment as he pet the large cat roughly on his head and then lead the horse to the stable. Once that was taken care of Brian made his way back around and grabbed the bags and opened the door. The smell of beef stew was the first thing he noticed, and the aroma hit him just as hard as when he was punched in the kisser by the lap dancer from Windhurst last summer during his training at Heaven's Tower. His eyes widened as he moved inside and was followed by Jean. His eyes glanced around the foyer as he noted various candles lit around the living room and dining area and a small note had been left with a large bundle of what looked like mail. The note read :

"Mister Raven,

Welcome back. Dinner is waiting, I made enough to last a few days. I will be back in about three days to check on you. I have kept your mail for you and also took care of your other requests. The Villa should be just as you left it. If you need me sooner I will be at my cousin Trielda's home on the east end and can be contacted there. Also "David" has been moved to the back yard as per your request. Katharine also came by many times, but I have not seen her in over three months now. Just thought you should know. Again welcome back.

'Emeralda"

Smiling as he read the letter, he set it down and grabbed the bundle of mail and moved to the dining room. He tossed the bundle to the table and went into the Kitchen and began to serve himself. He was home again and it felt good. There was a lot to do and quite a bit to sort out as well. But first it was time to eat and sort mail.. Or maybe eat again.

Dinner was damned good. So good that Brian thought of keeping Emeralda around permantly now that he had returned home. Pushing that thought aside, he took a look at the mail that had been left for him. Taking a slow sip of wine, he then set the glass down and started to sort though everything. Requests for services, a few promisary notes for services rendered, a few bills from his tailor, Guild requests and two personal letters from Katharine and Megan. Brian quickly opened the letter from Megan and read it aloud.

" Brian,

I hope this letter finds you well. As I write this Link and I are preparing to return to the realms after a quick jaunt in Southern Hyrule. We both hope to see you soon and spend some time together. It's been far too long since we have done anything of the sort. I will of course bring pop-tarts as expected and I expect to see you and Lexi fight over a box or two. We miss you all and cannot wait to see you. Please give our best to Katharine, Jewell, Lexi-poo, David and the rest. Take care.

Friends Forever,
Megan"

Laughing aloud as he read the letter, Brian recalled the times everyone would stay at his place and raise hell till all hours. The fights over his statue of David and the wombats running amok through the halls. It used to be such a lively place. Then again that was nearly a lifetime ago. Taking a closer look at the letter he noted it was dated over 3 months past. Meaning Link and Megan may have already arrived and he had no idea. With no return address it would be difficult to find them as well. Setting the letter aside, Brian then picked up the one from Katharine and in turn quickly set it down unopened. Sorting through the rest took about an hour and a half bottle of wine, and when he finished he rose from the table and burned what was left. With that it was time to unpack some goods.

Opening his saddle bags he unpacked a few shirts, some slacks and quite a bit of paper work. Tossing the shirts and slacks onto a near couch, he then grabbed the paper work and headed to the weapons room. Down the main hall he went, checking each room as he passed. Each of the 4 rooms looked just as they did when he left. He smiled, as he remembered when he sold and left the mansion after the clan had downsized and then purchased the Villa. He was rather fond of this place and it suited him to be away from the chaos that was the city at times. Moving into the weapons room, he lit the chain of candles about the circular room. One by one each candle had lit in succession, it was a neat little enchantment he picked up in the highland from some travelers. Soon the room was completely lit and came to life. Various weapons adorned the walls on brakets and full size racks. Small steps lead into the sunken floor and a small couch was placed right in the center. Opposite the entrance was another door and thats where he needed to be. His Office and war room. He took a bit of time, as he set the papers down and unbuttoned his Aketon and tossed it to the couch. Moving about the room he touched various weapons. His first sword, old and weathered with a clumsy balance. But it was his first none the less. The Frying Pan Kat has struck him with then he gave into the gauntlet, complete with dent. He paused on his way around and smiled as he noted a replica of Link's Master Sword. He really was fond of that sword and it was a true testament to Hyrulian weaponry. Lastly he came across his sister's sword. Midara's sword was hanging from a bracket by it's hilt, it's blade just as beautiful as ever. It was a short sword, with an impressive balance and dual edged blade like no other he had seen at the time. No one knew who made it, or even how she came into it. Midara wielded it as if it were her very soul. It was a sight to see and he missed it a great deal. Bowing to the blade a moment, Brian then gathered his papers and made his way into the Office/war room.

The small room was fairly plain, a large table set in the middle of the room with a great deal of rolled up maps laid all over it. Scattered papers all over the table and floor, some rulers and a slide rail, and a compass. "Damn... What a mess." was all Brian could say, as he began to clean up. The last time this room was used was the offensive against Darkin, and before that the rescue of Mystik's children and the offensive against Gannon. Brian hardly ever used this room since he had an office in town for his other agendas. Dust kicked up and caused him to sneeze a few times, as he put the maps away and sorted through papers and whatever else he came across. After filing the new papers from Bastok away, he smiled once more as he looked around the room. He was getting pretty good at this domestic stuff, but he wouldn't let that slip too much. Leaving the office opened, Brian then made his way back through the Weapons Rooms and then followed the hallway as it turned right and then made his way into the living room. A moment then taken as he stoked the fire a bit, and then took a good look around the room. Moving to the dining room he cleaned the table and then went back to the living room and sat on the couch and just watched the fire. This was a nice feeling, just being away from it all. Even if it were for a short bit of time. making a mental note to speak with Jewell on the morrow. Brian had an apology to deliver after taking a few days to understand things a bit better. But that could wait a day. His thoughts then ran to Briallyn, and the hope she would return soon. He truly missed her, and wanted to be with her again. Then within moments sleep crept upon Brian and he was out like a light. The large Moor Cat at his side, as he let the night slip away.
