Brian,

I hope everything is well back at home. Physically, I'm healing up very nicely according to the nurse that came by yesterday to check up on me. She was a little concerned about the bruising along my spine that is taking a while to heal but the best thing for that is to be in the water and, naturally, I have no problem with such a remedy.

Today is one of my better days emotionally so Amanda urged me to write to you. She's standing over my shoulder at the moment, making sure that I ask you to look into how Alex is doing. She knows I'm too angry and hurt to ask without her watchful eye on me. She would write to him herself if we could even fathom where he is, but who ever knows?

I'm sorry, that probably sounds rather bitter on my part. I hope both you and Charlotte are well and staying out of trouble- that, of course, is directed to you not her. I hope to be amongst you soon once more, whole and myself again.

Much love,
Jewell

The most recent letter to arrive at Brian's villa was written in Amanda's somewhat childish print; Jewell still had the hardest time getting her to write in script.

Uncle Brian,

I wanted to write to you 'cause I know mama isn't keeping you up-to-date enough. I'm worried about her. She goes out running and working out from dawn 'till evening every day.

I also wanted to see if you could send or give the letter pinned to this one to daddy-Alex because I'm worried about him too; I think he and mamma fought before we left. They're such a mess together but we all miss him.

Love,
Amanda Ravenlock

P.S. One of us girls gets to be the flower girl at your wedding, right?

Attached to this letter was the second she wrote of.

Daddy,

We're all away at this old lord's manor for now, by the water. I don't know if anyone told you that. I know mamma probably didn't 'cause I think you guys fought again but we came here after mamma got hurt really bad a few weeks ago; I think she burnt her magic out for now. And Aunt Amthy died so I think mamma just kind of broke under it all, she just cries a lot anyways.

I hope you're okay without us all. Where are you living? Will you come back homr when we get back? Mom only rented the house for June so hopefully we'll come back at the start of July.

I'm actually writing because mamma mentioned that something didn't feel right with her link to you but her magic is so off so she isn't quite sure but she won't write you. She looked really sad when I asked her to. I hope everything is okay. Moradin says he hopes you're okay too- but I won't let him write, his print is too hard to read 'cause he doesn't study enough.

Also, I found your echo thingy creature so I guess I'll take care of her until you come and get her again.

Hugs and Kisses
Amanda

P.S. You can write me back, mamma won't see the mail before I do so she won't know if you don't want her to.

P.P.S. Everyone else says "I love you" and Eva-Jade sends kisses, too.

Brian sat and read the letters time and again and truthfully wanted to do anything else in the world, than having to respond. But he knew she would want to know. So he sat and wrote once more.

Jewell,

I hope this letter finds you well, and still improving. I also hope you are not over doing it, and remember to try to take it easy. We miss you and pray for all of your safe returns.

In regards to Charlotte and myself well, that's a long story.. The short of it however is that we are married now. I will fill you in on the rest at another time. Also a very lonesome young man has expressed to me in a most profound manner that he misses and longs for you, and misses the scent of your hair, the feel.. At that point I had to cut him off and remind him that you are my sister. Needless to say, Skyler misses you a great deal and cannot wait for your return. He looks a tad pitiful, but i don't blame him. I miss you a great deal and eagerly await your return. Granted I don't "long" for you and the such, I still miss ya just as much.

Now to everything else.. As to Alex, he has decided to go his own path once more. He has since taken up with Lucy, and they have been quite busy. They have a small cadre and have attacked Katharine, and others. This has gone on since you left. I stepped in, due to the attack on Katharine and tried to deal with this. Needless to say it was a mess. Lucy has decided to take up her Mother's work and run rampant, and Alex is doing the same thing in his own fashion. Truth be told, we think it has to do with these two beings, Lucy created. Kat has sensed Alex may not be doing this all of his own accord, my opnion is he knows what he is doing to an extent. It's happened before, and I should know how power can corrupt.

As far as Alex and Lucy they are on their own, and I have no intention of stepping in. As it stands other powers are gathering, and I am sure this will deal with itself in time. They have chosen to keep their activities out of Rhy'din, and have instead decided for easier fish well outside of town. All I want to do is take care of Charlotte as we start our new life together and that doesn't entail running amok. If Amanda asks I cannot find Alex and do not know where he currently is, but if I do. I will send word.

Tell the children we love them, and we will make up for having an early wedding. There is more I want to talk to you about, but in person is best. I love you sis, and please come back to us soon.

Brian

She stood for some time with her brother's letter in hand, staring at it with eyes unfocused and lips screwed up in a little frown. She had smiled when she read the news of Brian and Charlotte being married and smiled further at the mention of Skyler. It had gone down-hill after that. The whole bit about Alex and Lucy...but a little head popped around her back at that moment to take a peek at what she was looking at, "Oooh a letter, is it from your boyfriend?"

"Get outta here," she swatted her eldest daughter with the letter but that was her undoing as Amanda caught sight of the familiar writing.

"From Uncle Brian?" She made a grab for it but the paper was quickly held above her head.

"Yes, from Uncle Brian for me, not for nosey little girls like you. Though, there is a line for you here," Jewell held the letter up so she could read it better yet still keep it out of the grubby hands of her daughter, "I take it you wrote to him?"

The lack of anger in Jewell's voice gave Amanda the courage to answer affirmatively, "I just wanted to check up on dad."

"Well, he says here he doesn't know where dad is- he's made some new friends and been keeping busy with them." Oh, the little white lies we tell.

Amanda didn't seem fully convinced but she nodded all the same, "Thats good, I guess. I wish Uncle Brian at least could have gotten my letter to him though, so he woudln't think we just all forgot about him."

"I wouldn't worry too much, little love. We'll be home soon enough and you can tell him yourself, won't that be much better?" She gave the young girl one of those perfected smiles that instantly made her feel better. "Why don't you go find Moradin and give him the news so he won't worry?"

"He's outside playing soldiers with Oz and Raven," she mentioned as she moved off out the glass doors in the hallway that led to the expansive flower gardens. Jewell just nodded as she took a seat on one of those useless decorative chairs to read the letter again and perhaps form some sort of reply.
