It was surprising how nervous she was but at the same time not, once she really began to think about it. When was the last time she had been out on a honest-to-goodness date? The sad part was, she could only think of one instance that could even come close to counting as a date and she thought the fact that is was more of a dinner with a friend than anything else discounted it entirely. Her relationship with Skyler had been teeming with plenty of nights spent together and time alone but nothing that would fit under the fashion magazine definition of ?date.? She didn?t even bother to try and evaluate her relationship with Alex in such a way, it would be a waste of time: the two of them had always been more comfortable at home together or out causing trouble somewhere. And there was nothing really wrong with all that, Jewell enjoyed a casual lifestyle, it was one of the many reasons she had hid herself away in RhyDin so many years ago.

Still, there was a nervous excitement running through her at actually going out to a planned dinner with someone, someone she was increasingly crazy about too, that made it nearly impossible to put her pearl earrings in. She had retrieved from her house enough costume and accessory options to be completely indecisive in picking what to wear and having to force one of the Sisters to help her pick a suitable combination. Eddie ended up being her safest choice for consultant as she was one of the youngest and did not have the whole ?men are evil? mentality quite down yet (Jewell was, in fact, working very hard against Eddie ever adopting such a horrifying attitude).

With the young judge?s help, Jewell picked out one of her more old-fashion styled gowns with a modern twist. From the front, it appeared to have a full bodice: low-cut enough to be enticing without being immodest, the stiff navy blue fabric decorated with swirls of silver. It was the back of the dress that departed from the standards of the time it was made to reflect as it simply did not seem to exist, leaving her exposed from shoulder blades down to the small of her back. She expertly piled all of her hair atop her head, a host of bobby pins utilized to keep curls in place. A few of the pins were decorated with pearls, looking like little drops of silvery white amongst her blue locks, to match both the earrings and simple necklace she chose. She also slipped on one of two mother-of-pearl rings she owned: not the engagement ring she had received from Alex so many years ago but the ring which Gene, her much beloved nephew of sorts, had given her. She ran a finger over the precious?because of who had given it not because of its worth?pearl a moment before shaking reveries from her mind.

She struck a pose for Eddie and grinned, ?How do I look??

?Perfect,? the teen replied with a smile, giving her the encouragement she needed to actually leave the Sanctuary for the dinner she had spent a good portion of the afternoon preparing for.

?I told Stephen to meet me here in a little while, I suppose I could go out and wait for him in one of the main rooms.? No one had ever explained to Jewell that game women play of making their dates for the night wait for a while once they arrived. Instead, with her jacket draped over her arm, she left her room, fighting the urge to get one of the Sisters to tell Stephen she had suddenly fallen ill and would be unable to go out tonight.
