Brian had finally done it. He proposed; and Charlotte couldn't be any happier. Congratulations were given, and the two lovers grinned like fools all day. And now, after the initial shock had worn off, Char still couldn't describe her happiness.
With Brian at work, Charlotte had decided to invite Jewell and Kairee over to look through wedding magazines and tell boy horror stories. Kind of like an early bachelorette party. She was skittering around the kitchen, trying to make tea...but she couldn't even get the water to boil. Brian was going to have to explain how to work all these weird appliances. She shrugged and just decided to summon some tea when the girls arrived.
Moving from the kitchen to the livingroom, Charlotte picked up a bag that she had set by the couch containing several magazines, pictures, and brochures. All had to do with weddings and vacations. Though she was sure their honeymoon would be spent in Vana'diel, Charlotte still wanted to give Brian a few other ideas. But Char was actually looking forward to visiting Brian's old home. She'd get a chance to meet everyone he talks about all the time, and also see Jeskola again!
Everything was dumped onto the coffee table in a jumble. A loose sheet of paper missed the table and floated to the floor. AS Charlotte bent to pick it up, she smiled, immediately recognizing what it was. She gingerly picked it up and brushed her fingers over it. It was the picture that Jayde had drawn which Charlotte would be framing and giving to Brian on their wedding day. The picture showed Charlotte's engagement ring hanging on a string, with a man's wedding ring hanging along side it. THe picture was in black and white and had great detail.
She tucked the paper into one of the magazines so that she could show the girls later. Turning out all the lights, save the ones in the hallway and livingroom, Charlotte was just about to grab another blanket out of their room when she heard the doorbell ring. Who could it be?
