The little brown cabbit was resting on her stomach as she was lying on her back on her bed. Her head was propped up with a pillow and she was feeding the little animal bits of carrot from a bowl at her side.

?And what should I name you, hmm??

Brian and Jen had gifted the adorable little animal to her on Saturday, during their party. It was a replacement for her long-lost cabbit that she was almost 99% sure that Alex had eaten?she used to insist that it was Brian and Alex that had eaten the poor thing but Brian was now guilt-free in her mind after this gift. They had made jokes about cabbit strew for years, but her poor pet had never returned.

Now she had a replacement and he was in desperate need of a name.

With her free hand, the other still busy with feeding the cabbit and herself with bits of carrot, she flipped through a book at her side. It was a naming book; something she had picked up after she found out she was pregnant with the twins. Seldom used, she was finally getting her money?s worth now.

One could search through it by meaning. She was currently looking up the word ?love.? ?How about Dwyn?? Casting a glance to the furry little creature munching on a carrot stick, ?He was supposedly the S?Seal-tik,? she sounded the unfamiliar word out, ?god of love.? Little wrinkle of her nose, a gesture the cabbit imitated, ?You don?t really look like a Dwyn to me.?

?Eros? It means love?in some language I have never heard of.?

She gave a little scritch to the poor unnamed pet?s head, ?Maybe I should just name you Brian?though that could get a little confusing with Moradin living here and all, too. And,? delighted laughter, ?I don?t think my brother would appreciate it too much!?

She lifted a bit of carrot to eat herself, when the little cabbit snatched it from her hand before it could get to her mouth and happily nibbled away at it. She stared incredulously at her pet, ?You little mooch!? Little laughter, ?I could name you Moochie, then you?d always be mooching off people.?

?Who knew this would be so hard?? She groaned, dropping her head back onto the pillows. ?But you need a name, little one.? She flipped through the book lazily, stopping on random pages until a few folded pieces of parchment?covered in her own handwriting?fell out. ?Hmm?? she lifted the papers and looked them over, smiling when she remembered what they were, ?lists I composed?of Elven names I liked. Perhaps I shall find you a name in here.?

Pouring over the list, she announced several names that struck her fancy to the cabbit, ?Siar?it means cat or feline man. Mmm, that wouldn?t work for you but perhaps I shall take to calling Panther such. How about, Sehron, soft walker?? She patted the animal on the head, ?Only I heard you thumping up the stairs a little while ago.?

Finally, she folded the papers and stuck them back in the book. ?Those names are too serious for you. Maybe I should just call you fluffy-kins or hippity-hop. Or maybe beasty!?

The poor cabbit had to wait another day to be named; it wasn?t until Jewell got back from the cemetery the following afternoon that she figured one out. She came bursting in through the front door, ?Come out little hippity-hop! I have a name for you!?

He came hopping down the steps to meet her, having been hiding up in her room from the horde of crazy kids that inhabited the household. She caught him up in her arms, spinning the tiny animal around, ?I?m going to call you Lucky! Because I?m Lucky to have you and have such a wonderful brother and sister to give you to me.? She didn?t even realize how cheesy that was; in her mind, it was perfect.
