"Here we are sir, the town of Bale. I thank ya for your patronage, and trust you'll tell your friends who to come to should they travel in this region."

Brian absently nodded in reply to the guide. In truth he didn't catch a word of what had been said, as he was captivated by the sight of the mountain ahead of them. Brian eyes panned from the base to the clouds and back a good while, as they approached the town itself. Brian also made note of the river that ran down the mountain, and the fact that the summit could not be seen. It was a rather impressive view to see all of it together like that. But Brian didn't travel to Bale to see the sights or romp through it's rather infamous brothels (Cake Shoppes were another story altogether), instead what had brought him here was an offer.

Brian had recieved the offer roughly a weekand a half ago, in truth he didn't put much stock into it and set it aside. Much of his time had been spent handling the Renna/Emma situation, and his own problems with the Gauntlet, and trying to get some kind of a date for the wedding. With Charlotte out town for a few days, Brian had some free time to himself to just sit back and do whatever he felt like.

So Brian had made sure the Den's renovations were under way as all the new landscaping around the old fortress turned future school. A letter was left for Charlotte as well, and a quick visit to the Abbey to check on Lucy.
An with all that done, Brian was soon traveling to Bale. It had taken him a good dayvia horseback and ferry to make his way to the mountain town. But he finally arrived, and began checking a map handed to him by the guide for the location to the Dragon Slayer's Inn.

The guide left Brian at the entrance, and went off on his own. Brian made his way into the town and began his search. The first thing Brian took notice of was all the Dragon statues in the town, there were a great deal of them leading into town, and even more once he made his way into the town's square. What really caught Brian's surprise was how rustic this town looked, and how heavily armed the people seemed to be. Unsheathed blades tucked into belts, huge battle axes and pikes slung on peoples backs, and nearly everyone Brian had passed wore some kind of armour, most of it being leather. In truth it looked like a town under seige, but everyone was going about their business and seemed to be pleasant enough.

Brian drew a few glances and whispers as he rode through the town, he figured it had to do with his attire. Since he was wearing his Federation Aketon and noct gear, Brian looked sorely underdressed, and even under armed. The guide admitted the town didn't get much in the way of visiters, save those who attempted to hunt dragons. Brian wasn't truly interested in hunting dragons, bit after dealing with Shadow aka "Boots" Brian deemed some research would be benificial, and it would also get him some time away from Rhy'din and the usual chaos. Still Brian wondered why the town was so heavily armed, were the dragons truly that bad to deal with?

Brian's dealing with Dragons was fairly limited in Rhy'din. He had none for friends save Icer and her family, and has only fought a handful and those fights were years ago and ended up near disasters to begin with. He had no real fear of them, but then again it wasn't like he was gonna run up to one, kick it in the shins and throw down on the spot. In Vana'diel however that was a different story, as the Kingdom of San'doria openly trained and recruited Dragon Knights, or Dragoons as they were known as. Brian was trained as a Dragoon, but in Vana'diel they held a different purpose. Dragoons there actually had dragons that were bonded to them and fought along side them. While Dark Dragons were fought, for the most part other dragons were revered by many of the nations. Brian trained for roughly a year and a half, and was held in good standing but was a long way off from mastering the art. All the ponderings on Dragons brought Brian back to his original reason for even arriving in the first place, the offer and invitation.

An invitation to join a group of self proclaimed dragon slayers on a hunt up the large mountain. Brian wondered how hunts for such fiersome creatures were done in these parts, and it was an easy excuse to get the hell outta dodge for a bit. Brian had no idea, how they even heard of him, let alone wanted to invite him, but he didn't sweat it. He didn't care, and it was just the excuse he needed.

Brian missed living this way a bit. He missed being able to just up and roam on a moments notice, and do whatever he felt. Lately things have been so hectic he hadn't even had a time to even think, let along anything else. Now that things were stabalized a bit, it was time to unwind and get a last jaunt outta his system, so to speak.

After a bit of time, Brian arrived at the Inn and secured his horse. With his duffle bag in hand, Brian made his way up the stairs, and paused a moment as he heard some conversation.

"Ayeee! Big as a giant he was! His claw, this BIG! Only on the one finger - he GOUGED out my eye! But, I took my sword and thrusted it RIGHT through his heart and then... For the final blow I-"

Brian chuckled a moment, as he heard the man speak and the crowd inside go wild. He knew this would be a post of fun if anything at all, and that would be the ticket for him. Hunt or no, he was going to relax, and as it seemed entertainment was not too far off by the sound of the man and crowd. Brian opened the door, and made his way inside the Inn and was stopped in his tracks by another voice.

"Oh do shut the hell up!"

Brian turned and saw the girl who blasted the older man, and shook his head as the gathered crowd let out a chorus of "oooooooooo" and then began to poke and jab the man with humoruous intent. Brian eyed the girl once more and took note of her Katana, and then made his way towards the bar and then signaled the tender.

Tossing the Invite to the bar top, Brian nodded to the tender and looked about the room once more. Looking to the tender once more, Brian smiled faintly. "So I hear there is a hunt to be had?"

"No! Sir! No hunt here!"

Brian raised a brow at the old man's reply and tried to ask again and was swiftly cut off.

"No! No hunt! Go away! We don't want you bringing the Dragons' wrath onto us! Go! Go I say!"

Brian shook his head and tried to speak once more, and nearly gave in. But his mouth got the better of him. "Listen old man, someone went through some trouble to summon m'ass all the way down here, er up here. Whatever the ^&%$, someone sent for me to this specific place. An why-" Once again he was cut off by someone else.

"Ayyyyyyye there be a damned 'unt!"

Brian looked to the man now speaking and recognized his voice as the one boating before he made his way inside. The man looked like he was a bed of sheets to the wind and Brian smelled the liquor on him from across the room. Brian tried to speak again but was cut off by hiccup after hiccup. Finally it stopped and Brian cut in. "Okay will someo-" Once more he was cut off, cripes this was getting to him.

"She be the one ya look'in for! She's a bounty hunter 'round these parts! A mean old bitch she be! Tore off a man's arm with her bareeee hands! Ayeeee! Her bare hands! Took on the legions of the undead, of demons and man alike!"

BANG!

Brian raised a brow as he watched the old man's antics and listened, and then the loud noise caused him to look to the woman he noticed earlier once more as she slammed her own head against the table multiple times.. Brian whispered to himself. "What the ^&%$ did I get m'self into."
Then the old man continued.

"AYEEE THATS HER! A psycho too!"

That was followed by a request from the old man for booze, and then he fell out. Brian laughed for a good moment and shook his head. He walked about the room a moment, and looked the patrons over as he spoke.

"Alright, someone sent this to me, an you all obviously have some kind of a problem here. Why the hell else would everyone be armed, and your tender pisses himself at my question. So what the hell is going on here?"

Then Brian came to a stop and walked over to the woman at the table who had finally stopped muttering and banging her head on the table.
It grew quiet, as Brian set his hand on the table, and leaned over a bit. His eyes narrowed and a smirk on his face as he spoke to her.

"So, sweet cheeks? You gonna tell me what's going on 'round here?"
