Lilith walked down the street with a purpose, feeling better after a quick stop back at the club to freshen up. Her experience at the cell phone store had proven that if you had enough sticks and leaves in your hair, you?d get treated like a homeless nymph. Not exactly the impression she was trying to give to whomever this Empress was. Probably better to look at least somewhat put together. Her business was on the line; she wasn?t going to chance being laughed at.

After asking around town, she had eventually been directed towards Little Elfhame, and someone called The Empress. Her face didn?t show it, but she was very nervous. Where she came from, she was a big deal ? capital B, capital D. Here, Lilith was simply a half-bred club owner who may or may not belong in a looney bin. Hopefully this Empress would be able to shed some light on what was threatening her business.

Turning the corner into the corridor of shops, she took a moment to admire how nice everything looked. So different from the half-dilapidated look of West End. Practicing her manners, she asked a few wandering people where she should go. They all seemed to hesitate, as if they had more than one location to choose from. Eventually, she found herself in front of a simple wooden door with a sign hanging above it. I?Yulna.

It wasn?t quite open yet, since it was still morning. A few smooth movements left Lilith sitting cross legged next to the doorway, waiting. Someone would come eventually. Hopefully it was before she was mistaken for a beggar and kicked out of this quaint area. Should she have brought some kind of gift, or offering? Oh, well. Too late now.

While fae ran wild throughout RhyDin, Little Elfhame remained relatively peaceful. Even if she was quieter than in days gone by and her presence less obtrusive, The Empress still reigned supreme in that little slice of Old Market and the fae knew it.

?I told you, I had to accept it.? The faerie walked down the cobblestone street backwards, arguing with her knightly companion. Ever since the failing of the Veil, there was a steady stream of people entering Little Elfhame, every one of them in need of assistance. Jewell found herself working hard for the first time in months, spending a majority of her time helping those plagued, tricked, and bespelled by the fae; those glamoured by the gentry; and those who had lost their homes or businesses to the faerie wyldes. She even rode against the Wild Hunt, or at least one incarnation of it.

She didn?t look ready to face the Wild Hunt now or even ready to hold some bastardized version of a Faerie Court in her bar. She was dressed in flip flops, short shorts, and a backless tank top that read ?Faith, Trust, and Pixie Dust?. Her pointed ears, decorated with bits of true silver, were on prominent display as her short, dark hair was styled up in a faux-hawk. Hardly impressive. A few of the petitioners the other day had been extremely disappointed that The Empress didn?t look more regal or noble.

Jewell had just laughed at them.

?But Mira,? Ishmerai was incredibly exasperated even if he was glad to see his lady showing interest in life and work again, ?what are we going to do with five crates of talking dolls? They are creepy.?

She waved her hand imperiously, ?I?m sure the Kids of Summer Foundation will have some use for them.?

?I suppose.? The knight didn't seem too convinced. Those dolls were terrifying. ?And the mountain of other useless gifts and trinkets people have given you??

In accord with faerie custom, many people brought gifts to give to The Empress in exchange for her assistance: a trinket, a service, a song. Others found themselves making deals and bargains with the faerie. A perilous decision, but perhaps the lesser of two evils in this case. Jewell seemed fair-minded for a faerie. She didn?t appear to take unfair advantage of the petitioners. She even accepted subpar gifts!

?I will go through them when I have time.?

?But--?

She held up her hand to forestall any further complaints, ?When I have time. If you haven?t noticed? I haven?t had much time to do anything but work, so it?ll have to wait.? They were almost at I?Yulna by that point, and Ishmerai nodded his head in the direction of the front door. Jewell groaned internally. Wasn?t it too early to start working? Then she spun about, smiling when she saw Lilith. It was time to play The Empress. ?Hi there. I?m Jewell,? she offered the woman her hand to shake or perhaps even a hand up while Ishmerai stepped around them to open the door to the bar. ?Shall we go in??
