?Oh!? She slammed her little fist down onto the bed, barely sending a tremor through the mattress. ?Let me try it again, I?m sure to get it right this time.?

?Aye, I?m sure ye will, luv. Let?s ?ear it ?gain.?

?Okay,? she took a deep breath before trying once more: ?Ye better watch yerself, lad, or ye?ll be findin? yerself gutted faster than ye can blink yer eye, says I.? Stephen just burst out laughing in her face and she couldn?t help but look indignant, ?What?d I do wrong this time??

?Is jus the look on yer face, murinin. Ye ?ardly be lookin? fierce when yer tryin? so ?ard and concentratin? on getting? it right.?

She tore the hat from her head?the one she had won from him all those months ago and had insisted on wearing because it made her feel more ?piratey??and tossed it at his face. He brought his hands up to protect himself from the attack as he continued to chuckle. She fell back, sprawling on their bed and waving her hand in the air in defeat, ?I give up, this is hopeless.?

He reached out, taking hold of her nearby foot and tickling the bottom of it a little just to watch her try and squirm away, a smile breaking through that pout she had been wearing. ?Nae, luv, yer ?ardly ?opeless. Ye jus be a tad bit slow in yer ?ead like I were tellin? ye back when we first met.?

?I?m not slow and now you?re just being mean.?

?Aye, I know yer nah slow, murinin. ?ow bout ye try it ?gain??

?But all I ever end up sounding like is some lady trying to imitate a pirate.?

He started to chuckle again, ?But luv, that kina be what ye are.?

?Well yeah,? she couldn?t quite argue with that. Instead, she sat up again and leaned over to retrieve her hat, placing it lopsided on her head for it was far too big, before trying again. ?Listen up ye scum,? she affected an obnoxious upturn of her chin, ?me name be Jewell Ravenlock Kidd an? ye shall best not be forgettin? it cos I be married tae the most fearsome cap?n that ever sailed these seas or any other!? A little flattery directed at the judge of her work never hurt.

?Not bad, not bad at all, luv.? Grinning, he reached over to take her hand and pull her closer. ?Now, the next lesson be plunderin?.?

She laughed, ?Now that one I know I?ve got down.?
