In light of recent events, it seems prudent to write a few things down in the event that I am either injured to the point of not being able to tell others that need to know -- or worse, in the event of my death.

As the latter is simply inevitable I have taken up this personal task of a journal though it might one day aid the great Tower of Tar Valon and those who serve it.

It will be self-evident that some things here will be as personal as they are a log of events that must be chronicled but even thoughts or feelings on certain matters might serve the Tower -- no matter how rediculous.

__

Three weeks ago, I was nearly killed.

This is, of course, not the beginning of such a story to be told but near the tail end of it.

A woman that had the spark of the power of the Once Source was being tracked by me that night three weeks ago, after a long and drawn-out following of her actions.

She had been within RhyDin's realm for almost two years and had been the whisper on the air that had drawn me to the lands after the death of my Warder that I had at the time.

The power the young woman she had within her was so chaotic that there was never any hope of guiding her. She had to be stilled, or killed. Though, for an Aes Sedai to be Stilled is one's prelude to death anyway; normally.

That night I had one of the youths that I pay to run errands and deliver messages follow me to where she was. Of course, he was told to stay at a safe distance. There was the possibility that aid might be needed and he could send for it -- but what wasn't anticipated was my own pride and self-assessment.

I thought that I would be able to see to dispensing with the woman from the realm or from this very existence if I had to. But I had sorely miscalculated this.

She weilded a knife and her mark was through my flesh and between ribs to nearly find my heart by the angle of its point. But the boy was quick on his feet and brought me help.

It would take me days in fever and at the hands of a skilled, elder Healer before I realized what had happened.

I had killed the woman that had held the feral power within her to kill and the strength of it enough the it should have been at least three or four of Aes Sedai to see to the task.

But I am the only known one here, within the boundaries of RhyDin and I had to see to her immediately. It is likely that my present Warder Raytheon felt the pain and near-death that I experienced but as he was out of the realm at the time and the distance was so great --- I will need to ask him to find out.

More care will be taken and, perhaps, just perhaps, the need for a second Warder will be weighed in thought for a time. For even if Raytheon had been at my side that night I believe that more than one would have been needed to successfully fend her off and hold her long enough to have bound her for transport back to the Tower in Tar Valon.

There is within the realm someone that has been met that proves both interesting and distracting.

His name is Duncan and he is as much a stranger here in the lands and realms of RhyDin as I am.

There is a strength about him that is beyond the ways of brute and blade and as many seeming layers of who and what he is as there are with me.

And despite the awareness there is a feeling of a certain feralness about him, there is trust for him and with him.

There is much still unknown and perhaps that will never be known about him. This is expected with many I meet, especially in the Westlands and Tar Valon -- but I find myself leaning in to learn more.

Time and circumstance, yeilding with reason to trust on both sides -- time will tell and the Wheel will dictate in its great weave what will come of it all.

Duncan held promise to be close to me but has not been seen by me in a very long time.

But my warder, Raytheon, stepped into RhyDin's Red Dragon Inn a handful of days ago -- not long after I had decided to make an appearance there. The Bond is strong and remains so and I am glad for it. Raytheon's loyalty is steadfast and normally without question. Though I smile to think of the times he has questioned me. Even though the times have been very few, he has the courage and sense to do so.

There are reports of darkfriends in the lands. It was my hope to never hear this. And Raytheon says that its was a sister of the Red Ajah who was there to meet an incoming ship.

Red Ajah. Of all the sects a sister could be from, that one is the most irritating to my sect of the Blues. We shall see if she shows herself again.

A man with a scar upon his face was seen recently. There was something about him that reminded me of Duncan, but it was not him.

I will send one of the street youths, Kolbi, to watch for him. Perhaps the boy will find out something useful.

The scar still bothers me.

Despite my Warder being within the area again, it has not fully healed. What was on the knife that crazed woman tried to kill me with over a year ago?!

By The Wheel, I am in pain this night!

One day, if the Wheel wills it, a sister of the Blue will be in the lands or even a Green, and perhaps they will know how to ease it. It seems not to heal fully inside, though the wound in flesh has been closed fully since two weeks after.

I find that I have neglected my journals. Any of those who are Brown Ajah might chide me, justifiably, for it. I know very well that were something to happen to me that I would be found poor in my responsibilities for it.

Much has happened since I have put quill and ink to these pages.

- Raytheon is in the depths of looking into things that cannot even be put in these journals. Though the bond between us has not weakened, I find that I am missing his company.
- I do believe I shocked someone one day, months ago, by telling him quite matter-of-factly that I was considering taking a second warder. He seemed to know very well just how rare that was for one of the Blue Ajah. What I did not tell him was the story of how long it took to acquire the only one I ever had before Raytheon, or that I was living with a never-healing wound that I needed constant bond with to keep from hurting so much from. But it was amusing enough to see the surprise on stranger's face.
- A man who knows exactly what kaf is has made it for me at least twice in the last few months. An offer by another to see to getting me some for my own personal brewing pleases me.
-A scarred man, the one that reminds me of Duncan somehow, was seen a couple of times. Gabriella was seen with him but the man does not seem pleased to be around her at all. Perhaps to the point of blatent distrust. I am curious to know the full details of why.
-And one called Rollo has been met with a couple of times. He seems to be currently without purpose. Perhaps there is more to the stories barely told. I will ask more of him on this, but have also told him of the ruins and work at Bulwark Cove if he is in need of work and coin.

The scar still bothers me. I tell no one. Raytheon, I believe, and the woman that weilded the tainted blade last year, are the only ones that know.

A spark was recently felt. There is at least one young woman within the realms that can touch the one source, that one power. But it is a very vague thing. Perhaps because it has just begun in her or is weak within her? Perhaps the distance is great between us.

I will look into these matters.

The ink can only convey so much and the rest is left to the imagination.
Sometimes, this is not for the best. Sometimes, it is completely necessary.

I have been so long out of the public eye with the work on the Four Keeps, my home and other buildings here at Bulwark's Cove, the some thought I had left the lands for good.

Perhaps this is good. Perhaps it is not. Word from the Tower in Tar Valon advises me against being too much to myself. What do they really expect from Aes Sedai? A festival of colors and invite everyone in for Games of the Houses or playing games of dice? Hardly my interpretation of their 'advice'. I will make myself more visible. Maybe even approachable.

I am planning a trip-a short one-to have a few dresses made. A Lady needs dresses, does she not? Maybe I will even indulge some niceties that seem to come hand-in-glove with socializing.

It does not appear that the wound at my side will ever heal. This is not mentioned to anyone. It is not the only wound that will not.

Word has reached me that the Red will be delayed. Something in the pages she sends mentions a lead about male that might have 'the spark'. It could be little more than Red wanting to do harm to men in general. I will ask more about this upon their arrival.

The distance from my Sisters is painful. I am feeling it a lot lately. Though I am trying to open up more to the citizens of this city, I naturally want to withdraw. This will be my greatest flaw and I can only hope that it will not mar the work and the weave. There are years of work yet before me.

Supplies have been acquired in anticipation of our guests.

We shall see how Yrsa Sedia enjoys her stay while here. It is, most certainly, not as illustrious as Tar Valon and many within RhyDin have a spark of some kind. I suspect it will prove a little unsettling for her at first as it was for me upon my arrival and feel the use of power daily by someone within the area.

Tomas Nur was here tonight.

Work at Bulwark's Cove has been complete for a month but he showed here, not to discuss the work but to deliver a gift from the RhyDin scholar, Skelrisan. Skelrisan has been met with a few times over the last few years. He has proved to be an veritable 'fountain' of information. The male, articulate, and strange being that is Skelrisan sent me a gift.

It is a brass ball or globe that can tell what local time one is in, the weather, and displays cartography of that area. It is astounding but I suspect that these are but a few of its functions.

Adriahnu Sedai -- of the Browns -- and her Warders, Elan Ashren, have arrived at Ashandarei (Sword-Spear) at Bulwark's Cove in RhyDin.

Adriahnu is most-trusted. We will discuss a special correspondence I received and many other matters in the morning. First, for them to rest after their journey through the Gateway connecting the Westlands to RhyDin.

The Gateway was successfully stabilized over a year ago, though this year will be the one that it is being used more frequently.

I was visited by DaNel this night.

She might appear to be a young man to glance at her first-off, but she is more of a mother hen in this pecking-order of the small 'flock' of those who serve as my Eyes and Ears here.

Much information is gleaned, thankfully from DaNel and the dozen or so she employs for this purpose for me. All information has proved to be very reliable. Only a few times in the last five years was there any reason for disappointment.

I will speak with DaNel at length in the morning. It is time to secure her a stronger, steeper position so that she does not ever have the need to get payment elsewhere to survive. The girl is valuable.

Of all of the people to dream about the night before, it was of the Gleeman.

His name is Ian Warcrest. I suspect that he is still living after all of these years. A Sister of the Tower said that he was seen near the Blight several years ago. Though she was certain it was him, she hadn't made herself known to him or spoke with him.

Warcrest. A most unsuitable name for a Gleeman. They are known for the stories and song as well as their antics. I knew him for more than just these superficial things of his trade.

And it was an odd dream. I saw him stepping out of a thick fog and beside him was a yellow horse. Ridiculous. No horse is that color. Not a yellow one with a purple blaze on its forehead.

I will confer with one or two others of the shawl to see if there is some symbolic meaning.

Ardiahnu and her Warder, Elan Ashren, left this morning with DaNel.

The Amrylin knows of their mission to seek out the child suspected to have the spark.

The Gleeman arrived at Bulwark's Cove.

A dream of him and then he came by way of the Ogier's gate.

Hours were spent speaking with him. Only the top layers of why he is here have been divulged.

We will speak further soon.

The Gleeman has been here for days. Forgotten was his talent for a tale. What he has told me though will need much investigating. Beyond what I can do alone.

Peretti of Essania has been sent for.
