Finally he had made it.

Impregnating the Kurgan was said to be an impossible task, but if enough legends had been written about you, the more impregnable it became. It was said that the Kurgan was not breachable because, of the three airships that soared over the domes, it was strongest; there was also the fact that it was an airship. It was difficult to raid airships.

One thing that grand and very large-scaled stories had as a weakness was that no one particularly notices the lone man that climbs up the arm of the titan.

Declan had boarded the Kurgan alone, and he was dressed for battle. The Belgarde family robes he wore were a red tunic and matching shoulder and breastplate lined in gold. Signature to him was his sheathed sword position at his back-most belt loop where Nokosu awaited to behead Declan?s foes.

He ascended the Master Stairway of the Engine Room. There was staff on the Kurgan. It was impossible to man without a crew. But none of them were worth his time. He?d come for the ship captain, and this stairway would lead right to him.

It started out as very poor steel grates outside that were just enough to hold a man, or a couple of men up. From there and inside the Kurgan itself, the stairs were wood. They switched to undressed and uncovered steel in the matching gray engine room, and leaving that, they became handsomely dressed maple, and further up that they were shone upon by cathedral windows with access to the outside light.

Upon stepping one of the stairs, Declan tripped a musical-queued switch, and a song began playing as was designed to make atmosphere for the users of this staircase. He paid little mind to it except to bob his head a certain way in approval and even attempt to walk ?cooler.?

Declan entered the captain?s throne cabin at the top of the stairs and walked across the burgundy carpet to where Alfonso Carlson Avery had been sitting cross-legged.

?Enough of your tyrannical rule over the innocent citizens of the domes, Avery!? Declan decreed.

Alfonso removed his cheek from his fist-rest and looked at him. ?Oh? Another one? How do you pesky heroes keep getting on my ship??

?Nevermind that. I will not let you imbalance the fates of so many lives any longer.? Declan pointed at him.

Alfonso waved him off. ?Now hold on. You don?t know them. They might like my bombs.? he shrugged.

?There is a reason why you have no acquaintances.? Declan stanced with one foot out a little ahead of the other before he would pocket his hands.

?Yeah, it?s called having a legion of demons in your eyeball.? Alfonso replaced his head on his fist and looked to attempt at something along the lines of a powernap.

Declan rose an eyebrow to him, ?Come now, you?ve seen the same people here that I have. Having a host of demons inside you shouldn?t affect the man you are.?

?WHAT IS A MAN?!? Alfonso tried to interrupt him, even surprising him a little as he seemingly sprung to life out of nowhere, but he quickly returned to how he had been when he saw that Declan gave him no reaction to it.

?And props to the rock anthem trap you have setup in the stairway. Very nice,? Declan looked aside, admiring the abundance of windows that give off a bridge-like panoramic view for the captain even in his private throne cabin.

Alfonso continued to rest and disregard this conversation as a threat. ?No one uses that stairway but you guys anyway. I figure if you?re coming to fight me, why do it to the sounds of engine belts and valves and timing gears??

Declan sighed, ?Surely you can?t like killing all these people. No more than I want to stop you.?

Alfonso opened up his only eye at him and regarded him seriously for a moment, ?You know I don?t really think that I enjoy it. It?s more of my doing what the voices keep telling me to do. But that?s all whispers most of the time, so you think I would be able to just ignore it and go on about my ambiance gardening or my work commute, you know. I?d like to pick up something like flambeing, or joining a coffee shop social. A healthy hobby. But enough talk! Have at you!?
