Millie

It was a superficial evening. One-sided drinking and idle conversation. They?d talked about Rakesh, and Daemien. How Millie was feeling with the pregnancy?though the vampiress seemed to skip on right over the question of what she planned to do with it. In her defense, Ada knew that it was a taboo question. Just like it was taboo for her to speak of Malcolm. Both wanted to ask the questions, one had more self-control than the other. Or so it seemed, anyway? Maybe Millie was just waiting for the girl to be drunk and open to talking about it?or maybe she was hoping the alcohol would spill her guts in the less gross and gorey way.

Millie wasn?t sure how they became friends, it was just one of those things that happened. Probably a tad with Malcolm?s prodding to take Ada out back in the earlier days. Now she didn?t need to be told, they just got together every now and again. Ada knew that Millie was pregnant and conflicted?and Millie knew that Ada still had feelings for Malcolm?even if she was trying to suppress them and make things work with the stud-ly veterinarian.

And sure, Millie would love for Malcolm to smarten up about Ada and stop being a prick? But the doubt of that happening was like a looming shadow over the room. Mostly, she wanted the Indian to be happy?and maybe she wanted to take credit for setting them up.

It was on their way out that the two began laughing and opening more, but Ada was showing no signs of mentioning Malcolm. "Alright..." she finally said, "I haven't decided-decided, so I don't want to confuse Daemien...but I think I know what I want... I want Daemien to be the first to know, but I'll tell you after that. Deal?"

Ada stared her down for a moment as if considering the offer, the two walked down the street together toward the coffee shop. Finally, she rolled those big browns away. "Alright..." she nodded once, watching Millie do the little victory arm pump out of the corner of her eye. "I'm not over him...but I'm trying to be. I figure if I cut our time together some, I'll have to be. So I'm trying to focus on Rakesh... And I like him, I really do. I think, I might have feelings for him. Or I could, someday.. Y'know?"

"That...seems fair," Millie nodded. "Sorry my brother's such a jackhole..." she frowned.

Ada snickered, "Sorry you got pregnant..."

"I'm not," it slipped out, and Ada's eyes popped open. Millie waved her arms, "No! I didn't say that! I did not say that!"

The Indian was well on her way to doing a happy arm flail, "Milliiie," she half whined. But the moment was soiled when screeching tires rang out. It was enough to make the vampiress cover her ears and hunch down some. A man quickly got out, but his face was...she couldn't explain it. It was almost blank in its plainness. He wore a ballcap over it, and seemed to rush up to both of them. One hand wrapped a rag around Millie's nose. The other shoved Ada, who went down pretty easily in those heels.

The now-free hand was quick to wrap back around Millie to keep her struggling at bay. It wasn't long before she was out, folding limply into the man's hold. Da--!! was all she managed to get out in the chaos of it all. "Millie!" Ada cried as the man loaded her into the back seat of the older Hyundai Sonata.

Ada tried to do a million things at once. She tried to clear her head, get a look at the car, and memorize the impossible features of the man. But on top of it all, she was jumping up and moving toward the man, heels kicked off right before she jumped on his back. "No!" she cried, and tried to choke him out.

The man was quick to just go straight down. He hopped slightly, and used his weight and gravity, to slam Ada down hard. Ada felt her head crack against the pavement, but her back had met first. "Ngh..." she whimpered, arms untangling from him as he struggled up, her consciousness began to waver.

Looking between the two women, he slammed the door shut to seal Mil in the back seat, and then loaded Ada into the front. Then he was jumping in, and driving off.

It was almost as if the room was built to be oppressive. The flickering overhead lights seemed to hum a song of gloom that spurred on the rhythm of the leaky pipe dripping water into a puddle below. The floors were old tile that were surely housing at least one layer of mold beneath. Stone walls contained questionable dark spots and cracks that let in a musty draft from outside; but no noise of traffic or hope of a rescue.

Ada was the first to wake, groaning a bit with the pain radiating in her head. She blinked the blurriness away with a flutter of lash, and began to sit up to get her bearings. Upon the movement, she heard the unsettling rattling of chain on tile. Brown eyes followed the noise to see that her ankle had been cuffed with a shackle that seemed much sturdier than the basement wall that held her. Not that she had the strength to break either one. There was no question of how she got here, those memories were painfully fresh in her mind. Though she did start a bit at remembering Millie's involvement. It didn't take long to locate the unconscious vampire. Ada had it easy comparatively. "Mil!"

Ada scooped herself off of the floor, wobbling a bit. Her jacket had been stripped off which had her phone...but everything else seemed to be untouched. Millie had been strung up in a standing position, her arms held high over her head which was all hair at the moment since her chin was currently touching her chest. She moved over, but seemed to be just out of reach. "Millie, come on..wake up!" she yelled out, triggering the sounds of footsteps above. Her eyes immediately went to the ceiling, and she switched to a more hushed tone. Ada crouched back down and began prying at the cuff, grunting and straining.

The vampiress' head lifted slightly to the sound of Ada's voice and she let out a light groan. Her arm muscles strained some as she tried to bring them down, probably to wipe at her face... "What the fuck..." she hissed. Her memory wasn't quite as clear, nose scrunched up and she began wiping her face against what part of her arm was available. "Ada..." she mumbled.

"I'm here," she answered, cold chain rattling as she stood. "I don't know where here is...but I'm here. Are you okay? Did he hurt you?"

"No...no I don't think so, but... who is he?"

"I didn't recognize him...his face was...nevermind." Ada shook her head. "Not important right now... we have to get out of here."

"Yeah, you think?" Millie grunted and pulled at her bonds. Her feet couldn't get planted enough, or whatever she was attached to was sturdy. Either way, she wasn't suplexing her way out of this. "No use..." she whispered, shaking her head violently to get her hair from her face. Green eyes stared at Ada to check her over, "You alright?"

"Not really..." she admitted. "I'm cold, and scared."

"I'm not going to let him touch you..." Millie promised, her eyes flicking to the ruckus overhead. There was clanging and banging, and she couldn't even imagine what the plan was.

Ada looked at her incredulously, "I'm not worried about me, Millie.." Hell, she wasn't even sure that the man wanted her. If she hadn't tried to intervene, would she be here? Did she regret it? Yes and no. Not because she was now at risk, but because she might've been some use to those looking for Millie. But that would mean leaving the girl alone. She regretted not being strong enough to protect Mil, that was for sure.

The two both began trying to escape, but to no avail. Something down there was offending ever sense that Millie had...weakening her. Ada couldn't break metal and had stopped after trying to saw through it with a piece of broken floor tile and cutting herself. Less because she hurt herself, and more that Millie had gotten a teasing whiff of her blood and it showed right away. "Gah! I'm sorry! I..."

"Ada, I know it's hard but you have to try and calm down. You can't stress yourself out right now..." Millie tried not to show it, but the strain was there. "We can't exactly get you to a hospital if you decide to throw up blood again.."

"I know, I know. I'm sorry..."

"Stop saying you're sorry so much," and she watched Ada open her mouth and quickly cut her off. "Don't you dare apologize for it.."

"I'm--...right. Sor--bah!" A quick shake if her head.

The sound of the basement door opening drew both their attention...and both began struggling a bit harder.

The sound of footfalls coming down the steps was almost agonizing, and Millie couldn?t help but wonder if that was how Echo felt. The thought seemed to make her wince, but it was short lived as her eyes stayed glued on the doorway leading to the stairs. The sight of feet made her lip curl upward, a snarl of warning ringing out. Her defensive expression didn?t last very long when she saw exactly who walked through the threshold. ?Hello, Millie, Ada?? a smile resting on his face. It looked and sounded just like Daemien. He was carrying a plate of food, and a glass of water, setting it down within reach of the Indian on the floor, and then started over to Millie who was staring him down.

The girl tried to find a flaw, something that was out of place?but he even smelled like Dae, even his style of dress was dead on. She wasn?t fooled, though. Ada didn?t seem fooled either, but both girls remained silent. Millie zoned out, because she wanted the real thing?

Daemien?are you there?

Millie... jesus. Fuck. Are you okay? Where are you?

Those eyes rolled shut, relief rushing through her when she heard his voice in her head. She knew Daemien would never do this, but part of her was afraid of a weird body snatching scenario. It was already awful that Ada was dragged into this mess, but for someone to be controlling Daemien? She wasn?t sure if she could handle it. It was hard enough seeing someone wearing his face?

I'm not hurt, but I don't know where I am.. Someone took us, and we can't get away.

Ada's with you? I found her blood... and.. shoe.. It'll be alright, Mil. I'll find you. Do you remember anything when you were taken?

Not really.. Screeching tires, a rag over my face...then I woke up here. I'll ask Ada, but I can't right now...he's here.

He? Who's he? What does he look like?

Like... you.

Like me? Or.. similar to me...tan, tall, dark hair?....

Like...just like you. Smells like you, dresses like you..

How is that... Just hold tight, Millie. I'll find you, okay? If you find anything out, talk to Ada, tell me. But you need to focus on him right now. Don't let him know you're talking to me.

I know you will, Daemien... Okay, I won't let him know anything.. I love you.

I love you too.

The entire time, Millie glared silently at the man; perhaps wishing that looks could actually kill. He didn?t seem all that offended, he worked a vial out of his pocket. ?Stop wearing his face you coward?? she hissed through her teeth, reddening eyes twitching to the small glass container he?d been working the lid off of. She recognized the scent immediately, it was reaper blood.

Ada?s widened when he grabbed the vampiress? face roughly and tipped the flask to give her a few drops. "Don?t touch her!? she hissed. ?Stop it!? she cried helplessly.

Please stay down, Ada? Millie?s mind cried out, not wanting her to end up getting punished in her own defense. The way he had her face tilted up, she couldn?t help but swallow down the blood. ?****er?? she hissed, snapping at his hand and growling.

?I love you, too, honey,? he smiled and began backing up to get to the door.

?W-wait,? Ada cried out, looking down to her meal and then up to him. ?She?she?s pregnant, she needs more than that. You gotta give her more than that!? the Indian began standing up and trying to go after him, tripping up on the chain while he left without another word.

Ooc- Many thanks to Daemien for helping with the scene!
