The immortal never strayed too far from home?the home that Daemien claimed as hers anyways. She was a long way from Sama, but that didn?t matter as much. Not to someone who couldn?t remember it in the slightest. Her bottom lip stuck out lightly, given the cold weather, there wasn?t a lot of creatures and critters for her to gawk at and follow around. Despite that, the reaper had to stretch her legs. Her blood ran hot in her veins, making it so she didn?t have to wear more than what was needed to cover her body and still stay warm. So, she was sporting a sun dress as if it were the hottest days of August, and a pair of white flats to match the fabric of the dress. She?d gone down to the dockside to see a certain hydra and was now making her way back home waltzing on the tips of her dainty toes.

The first time she spotted him, he was standing with his back resting against the building, staring her down with a crimson gaze and a fat grin plastered on his expression. Her brows knitted together lightly and she shifted her eyes away. Immediately, she felt uncomfortable and she hadn?t a clue why. It felt like in her dreams, like he was one of those faceless figures that haunted them. She began to walk faster, and he shoved off the building in pursuit. ?Martyr,? he called out, stopping her in her tracks.

She stiffened, froze and slowly turned to him. ?Y-you know m-me?? she asked, tilting her head. The fattest part of her bottom lip was taken into her mouth and feasted upon. ?Er, I m-mean? W-well, what I m-mean is? I?m afraid, I d-don?t remember m-much from b-before a c-couple m-months ago, and I?? The reaper sighed lightly. ?F-f-forgive m-me?? she muttered in defeat.

Solaris smiled softly, ?Darling,? he said with a shake of his head, two hands coming up. ?There is nothing to forgive. My name is Solaris,? Yeah, he was eating this up like a glutton. ?We got into a fight a while back, you nearly killed me. In fact,? he leaned in with that fat grin plastered on his face. ?Nobody has come quite as close.? That usually didn?t mean good things. It meant the risk outweighed the reward, which was never a good thing. Even for the best of poker players. ?You?ve been a stranger ever since, and here you are? No memories. How sad? Are you alright, pet??

Martyr seemed confused. For someone she nearly killed, he sure was being awfully nice. ?Oh, I?m s-so sorry, I d-d-don?t remember that at all?? she whispered. ?I?? Martyr sighed lightly. ?I d-don?t think I h-have w-words?? she sighed.

Once again, those hands came up, ?No need, pet.? Solaris said with a smile. ?When someone is especially strong, and especially useful, I tend to make an exception for misbehavior.? Softening his gaze on her, he leaned in and inspected her face. She didn?t seem to be making it up. If she remembered him, she wouldn?t be standing there right then.

The fairer reaper?s eyes closed warmly, and she nodded. ?W-well, thank y-you so m-much!? Martyr chirped and dipped her head. ?B-but I am s-sorry again for w-whatever c-came over m-me.? If he had admitted that he?d been attacking Daemien, she probably would not have been apologizing. Still, hindsight was 20/20. ?I should g-get home b-before they start t-to wonder where I am..? Maybe she didn?t want to admit that Solaris gave her the creeps. ?It w-was nice m-meeting you again, Solaris? Oh, and th-thanks for forgiving m-me,? she said with a chipper smile before continuing down the path to home.

Solaris moved after her, the glimmer of metal showing as he pulled the sword free of the sheath. ?There is just one issue?? he muttered idly before thoughtlessly plunging the red blade through her midsection. ?There?s already two of you, I don?t need three. You understand?? Then, without warning, he yanked the blade out and sheathed it, turning around casually and moving down the road as if he never knew her at all.

The immortal froze in her tracks, her heartbeat rang in her ears as she looked down to see the blade poking through. It felt?different. Way different than ever before. She took in a breath and then grunted painfully when he ripped it away. She collapsed down on her hands and knees, watching the blood free fall to the ground. Why wasn?t the wound healing? Why did the air outside feel so cold all of a sudden? She didn?t understand? All she knew was that her body felt different, that the pain was lasting and she was losing blood.

Without memories of the man, she?d been defenseless to his ruthlessness. Without memories, she couldn?t possibly have known. The worst part? She thought she deserved this.
