"The bell tower?" Maria spoke with a hint of question in her voice. Her answer, in the form of a single nod, would be all the smaller girl gave in return. Nayun stood there in silence as she watched the Nun press a finger to thinned lips in thought. Would she not allow it? Nayun was no longer the Baroness of Old Temple - her requests could be denied without even a second thought to them. The young Adennian attempted her best to show no sign of these troubled thoughts; her face wearing the guise of that lack of emotion she had grown used to masking with.
".. Ah, yes.." The Nun spoke. Her lips curling into a caring sort of smile. "I do not see how it would hurt.. but, it is late. You wont be allowed to ring the bell. It was something you enjoyed doing, wasn't it?" Hint of a chuckle left those lips. Something hidden away by a well placed white-cuffed sleeve. Nayuns shoulders relaxed slightly then. Though her face spoke one thing, this small tell tale of body language could have been seen as another. Those same shoulders would find palms pressed to them, and soon enough the vision of Maria pushed forward in a lean. Closer and closer she came to Nayun. "I thought we had lost you.. but to see you return." The girl kept still. Feeling the older womans palm gently caress her cheek. "It's heartwarming.. that's what it is." Another palm took her other cheek. It lingered along with its twin for only a moment and soon released. "Now, come. The sights of Old Temple await you."
Step by step. How they felt so long. What usually took minutes felt like hours for Nayun. Step by step. Closer to the summit. Nayun could see that bell as she looked up. So close, yet felt so far away. The only sound between the two had been their own steps against creaking boards that made up those stairs. Another step taken, then a turn. They'd resume their climb up the bell tower. It was then that Maria spoke. "I'm still surprised you came back.. It is the Lords work." Nayun watched as the taller woman gave a nod of her head while the girl herself tucked in her lower lip.. but then footsteps stopped. "Why are you so quiet, child? Is there something on your mind?"
So close to the top. Why did she have to stop? Nayun stood there with that blank expression, one that Maria looked to in question. "... I wanted to see the church again.." The raven haired girl spoke in almost a whisper. "It leaves that effect, doesn't it? It is God calling back to you." The Nun said with a smile. That smile. How bright it was. Nayun could look to it and without a second thought know how true and genuine it was. The walk continued then, this time with Nayun keeping red eyes on those wooden steps.
"Here we are." Maria spoke with spread arms after taking that final step. They fell after Nayun took her own. Turning, the Nun looked to the smaller girl and gave her that bright, heartwarming smile once more. Nayun stood there beside the stairs; frozen.
".. Does your God.. really see everything?"
".. Ah, yes.." The Nun spoke. Her lips curling into a caring sort of smile. "I do not see how it would hurt.. but, it is late. You wont be allowed to ring the bell.
