***As she awoke the sun was just coming in thru the massive pane glass window which faced the East. Having been raised to rise and sleep by the lights of the sky, she had made adjustments to her new home to make it more accustomed to her likings. What is the point of living in a home you don't enjoy.
Although the bed was a four poster with chiffon draped all over the top and sides and down the posters....it was covered with a fine eqyptian sheet....(the softest known to man)....and over her she lay pelts of some of the rarest animals known to roam in the wild. Some she hunted herself, others were gifts. She never bought a pelt. Ever. The one she did not own nor ever would, gift or not...would be the white snow leopard. She believed they were the most gorgeous creatures on earth.
She wished she could own one, but to do so would be a sin. Such animals should wonder free...just as man should.
Stretching out upon her bed....she did so till she felt a few cracks of her back. Letting out a sigh of relief, she slowly rose and sat on the edge of the bed. Looking out the window, she had to shield her eyes in order to set them on any one thing. The light was so bright, there wasn't a cloud in the sky, and it looked like Spring was trying to make her appearance.
Rising she walked to the window, placing one hand on the pane of glass.
It amazed her at how clear it was. It was as if she could reach out and touch the ivy which grew up and around the windows. Casting her head down, she could see where the sun was literally rising over certain parts of Rhydin.
Boudicca loved the area in which she lived. On the map it was not too far from a compund owned by some neighbors she had never met. Seeing as how people in Rhydin kept to themselves, she thought that had they wished to know her, they would have welcomed her to the "neighborhood" so to speak. This was the hardest adjustment Boudicca was making. People. She was raised amongst a Clan. Everyone knew everyone and they all watched out for one another. They knew one another's strengths and weaknesses and instead of taking advantage....they accepted one another at face value.
Albeit, her once being the Queen of Caledonia did give her certain treatments at times....but none that she would not bestow upon someone in her Clan. She did not play favorites. Living with these people her entire life, she loved them all equally. The fact the she was able to join the warring Clans and spoke to the Chieftains into stop warring long enough to fight the Romans out her in a special light. Truth was she was a woman. She knew how to talk to each Chieftain. Find their soft spot...which in reality is a man's pride. Working on that....and the idea that they as a people could one day become slaves to Rome was enough to bring them together. In doing so, some Clans that had been rivals for centuries now actually had marriages between them, uniting them now in blood.
Caught daydreaming already and she'd just gotten up. She was homesick and she knew it. Suddenly there was a knock on the door and there was her servant Emma with her morning tea. Thanking her, Boudicca set the tea to steeping as she asked Emma for the paper. Emma then informed her that The Oracle hadn't been out for a month or so now. Giving Emma a nod, she thanked her anyway....and rose up and went to her ceiling to wall bookshelf. One of many in the house. Picking out a book she'd been reading...a book of poetry....she opened up to her last marked page and began. Sipping her tea...reading one of her precious books and daydreaming with the sight of the morning sun.
Such was the beginning of her NEW day.*****
