Boudicca

~~~~~Boudicca had been home for well over a month now. She was nearly back to her old self. She was even seen in the glen, practicing with her left hand, with her broadsword. Her daughter, Alexandria, concerned for her mother's well-being....sent guards with her, but they were to remain out of her way, and generally out of sight...but were to report back to their Queen any "odd" behavior the former Queen of Caledonia may exhibit.
Alex also saw that a bounty was to be put on the head of Jonathon Delacourt...and that "portal" was to be guarded at ALL TIMES. She would not permit anyone coming to Caledonia, from that hell hole Rhydin.
David was with Boudicca now. Alex permitted him residence in the Castle. Whether or not they were lovers, mattered not to her daughter...only her mother's happiness did. Boudicca spent quiet afternoons with David....evenings with everyone...especially her grandbabies, Katie and her husband. But sometimes she would slip away unnoticed, even giving the guards the slip, every once and again.
The wound on her arm left her right arm was useless for fighting. However, she did have use of her hand and fingers, although it appeared they would remain numb probably for the rest of her life.
Alexandria did send a messenger to Rhdyin, before she closed the "portal" to Caledonian citizens. It was the form of a reward. She had granted Lasherette the freedom to come and go as she pleased to her original homeland, though she must come alone. She gave her a Clan shield...and the permission to consider herself a member of Boudicca's Clan the Gordon's. Such a thing was a high honor. Lasherette accepted the "rewards"....viewing them as gifts....and wrote back claiming she needed no reward for helping the wounded Queen...but that she was honored and humbled by the gifts she received.
Boudicca didn't talk about Jonathon ever again. Unfortunately, she came to accept that she was stronger mentally and emotionally than nearly every man she knew. David was more her equal....always had been. Sometimes you don't know what you have, until you lose it. Boudicca was thought "lost" to her family...and her David. The loss she felt over leaving Rhydin soon enough passed. The genuine kindness of the people, men and women showed her, in her homeland, was a welcome respite.
It seemed Rhydin to her was just a place where all the creatures of the night congregated...the low-life's of the world came to call home. And all the "wanna be's" tried to live out their dreams. No...Boudicca could never had fit in there. Afterall....being a Queen...a Queen which had driven the mightiest Empire on earth from her country...she could never be anything less than what she was...And most certainly could not sink so low as to be what the majority of the citizens of Rhydin were....sheep.~~~~
