*****Jonathon and Owen had spoken to the girls, and explained everything. Of course they agreed with the plan the two men approached them with. Lexi knowing how terribly Jonathon ached inside, was kind and spoke little. Katie kept hugging him, reassuring him that she would be sure to explain it all to her mother...every detail. How Jonathon loved her so much....so unconditionally, that he let her go, and would never see her again....so that such an accident could never happen again.
Lexi arranged it so that Jonathon would ride Boudicca out to the Glen, to the portal himself. Holding her close to him, cradling her in his arms as they proceeded to the vortex that lead towards home. Reaching the same spot as he and Boudicca their first night in Caledonia alone together, he leaned his head down and kissed her cheek. Then reaching up, letting go of the reins to his horse, he kissed her full on the lips. "Good-bye My Beloved. One day I pray you come to know how very much I loved you." As tears welled in his eyes...he looked to his side...and there stood David. A mixture of feelings hit him just then. His stomach knotted up and he felt he was going to be ill. Handing Boudicca down to David, just as one would with the care of a sleeping Babe.
David cradled her easily within his strong arms and broad chest. He took care to make certain Boudicca was wrapped tightly in a worsted wool blanket. Hesitating, he then looked up at Jonathon. The men may have been rivals for her love. But one thing was certain is that they BOTH did indeed love her, and would die for her. David stood there holding her as her girls came round to her, and to look up at Jonathon. Doing his best to wear his best smile, he bowed to Lexi and Katie. Nodding to Owen and Katie's husband and children, giving the kids a small wave. Clearing his throat his hues of azure glanced down into Boudicca's face for one last time....and with a slap of his reins to his horses side, he took off and made a leap into the vortex, right before their eyes.
After the girls took turns kissing, stroking, talking, praying and weeping over their mother, unsure if this would truly work...they stepped away as David placed her into her coach. Having brought the seats down into a bed, just as it was that night she and Jonathon had first arrived in Caledonia. Plenty of pillow and blankets cushioned her body, her wounded arm tied in a splint, placed close and tight to her body, she merely moaned and groaned occasionally. David looked in at Boudicca before closing the doors, turning to the girls, he reached out to them with open arms. Taking each one of them in each arm, he pulled them close to him, just as he had a hundred times before. "I shall take the best care of her." He whispered, then placed a kiss to the top of their heads. "I will return as soon as I know she is safe."
Stepping back, the girls wiped their tears as David checked Boudicca once more, before closing the coach doors. Hoppin up onto the coachman's bench...he nodded then gave a wave, as he brought the team of horses to a full trot and he too passed into the portal, just as Jonathon had moments before him. Once through, David slowed the team....checking the area...which was similar to the Glen in Caledonia, he put the brake on. Hopping down...he looked in on Boudicca. She was sound asleep still. But already her face appeared nearly back to normal.'
Jonathon had given him directions as to how to reach her Manor. Wanting to spend as much time with her as he could, he rode the team at a mere walk. In no time, he pulled up to the Manor, just as Jonathon said he would.
Going up to the door, he was recognized immediately by Boudicca's servants whom she had brought from Caledonia with her. They tried to welcome him in, but walking to the coach, he explained briefly what all had happened to her. The servants appeared horrified at the news of their Mistress. Opening the door of the coach...they all stood there staring at her. Slowly, Boudicca began to move about beneath the blankets. Then coming up with a start...she sat up and stared back at all the eyes staring at her, with all explaying different emotions. "What?" Asked Boudicca...surprised at the sound of her voice...rather rough and dry. She looked from face to face, and was a bit amused at the way they stared. Moving her arms to push herself to the edge of the coach, she found her arm in a sling. "What did I do to myself, now?" David stepped forward, reaching out to stop her from removing the sling, when she looked at his thick hand gripping her good arm. "David, what is it?" "J...just be careful with that arm, Boudicca." "Ooohhhkaaay....."she said confused and a bit bewildered. Removing her arm from the sling, and pulling the sling off from around her shoulder and head, she lay it down beside her, with her "injured" arm. She held up her arm, turning it this way and that, staring at it. "What's so wrong with it? Did I sprain it?" She looked to David. A wave of relief washed over his face, and a smile a mile wide broke over it as well. Seeing his reaction, she furrowed her brows.
"So...can we go inside now? I really need something to drink. I feel like I've been asleep for ages." David, had to chuckle at that remark. Holding out his hand to help her out. She took it with her once injured arm...David stared at where the horrid wound once was. Still smiling, she looked up at him. "What are you so happy about...not that it's a bad thing to be happy." David nodded. "There is much to discuss....I will take the time to explain it all, and will leave you as soon as you wish." Now Boudicca was nodding. "Where is Jonathon?" With one arm about her waist, the other holding her arm, as they entered the Manor, the servants all going back about their chores...David cleared his throat. "Well...I am sorry to tell you, and mayhaps I shouldn't be the one to tell you....but you will never see Jonathon again. He as left." "LEFT!?!"
"Shhhhh...Boudicca...calm down. You have been through alot, come...let us get you comfortable and we will talk." Visibly shook, Boudicca nodded as they entered the Manor.*****
