Lasherette

Lasherette had taken care of Boudicca for as long as she could. When even she coudn't heal her wound, she sent for a true Dr. One from Caledonia, their ancestral home. Taking Lash out onto the balcony, he leaned against it. An older man, balding, round tummy from the pints of ale he'd partake of. Glasses sitting at the tip of his nose. "M'Lady Lasherette, I am afraid I have done all I can for her. The infection has permeated the bones." Lasherette looked at him, at first it didn't register, simply because she didn't want it to.

"Thing is, I dont know when she got here. She kept talking about a Jonathon."

"Perhaps that is part of her problem. You see, it is true what they say about dying of a broken heart. One look at her, and you can see it's true.
Regardless, Lady Lasherette...what is it you wish me to do now? Cut the arm off? It would have to be by the shoulder down." Lash stepped back covering her mouth in horror.

"Surely there is something else we could try!" Her hand shaking over her covered lips.

"Nay child...it is too far gone. And even detaching her arm doesn't mean she will survive. Might buy her time. But for what? The misery emotionally she feels....waiting for her Jonathon to arrive? It's obvious he isn't returning."

"That son-of-a-bitch." Lash seethed, spitting out the words. Here she came back hoping the return would somehow stop the injury from ever happening....I still dont understand that. I guess she was talking out of her head." Turning her head looking out over Rhydin. Concentrating, reviewing in her mind their discussions before the high fever hit Boudica.

Looking back up to the doctor. "I know why he left. If he left her then he could never harm her even by accident!. But it was all for naught, for now he not only left her dying by his sword...but leaving her side when she needed him most."

The Dr. looked Lash in the eyes."Was that not her love she spoke of who brought her here? The one you told me about who lives in Caledonia? Lash let out a long sigh. "No, that was David....her father's best friend and her forbidden love. That man would die for her. He left before he saw that she was alright or not. Jonathon had come and peeked in on her twice. Kneeling bedside of her, he prayed and he begged her forgiveness.

Lowering her head, she wiped the tears just as they fell from her lovely peridot hues. The Dr. ever the gentleman, handed her his handkerchief.
Dabbing her tears away from her face, she looked up to him. "What should I do? She has daughters who need to make this decision, not I."

Well seems to me that you care very much for Boudicca just as a sister
would...or like a Mother, for that matter."

"Given her condition when I found her I could not leave her there. She was unconscious when I saw her on the side of the road."

"Of course you had to help her. It is in your blood, fair one. Giving the Dr. a soft quick smile, signaling her appreciation. Just then she thought about this David fellow. Quickly she made her way into her bedroom to redress. "Dr. I will be just one moment." Wearing riding attire, she bolted back into the room Boudicca occupied, and their sat the Dr. beside the sleeping Warrior Queen. He was singing to her an olde Celtic lull-a-bye...

"Dr. I am going to send word to her family. I will be gone just long enough to take Warren with me, we will return. Boudicca will not. I will leave her, so that if indeed these are her last days. they will be spent with those she adores most, her daughters, their husbands, and grandchildren....and David. The Dr. nodded his head. That is a wonderful idea Lass, but can she make such a trip?" Stopping dead in her tracks, she then looked to the Dr. "I will deal with that when the time comes. And besides we have to get you back to Caledonia as well. As much as I love and welcome your company I am sure you wish to return home as well.

You are so insightful, Lass." That familiar blush rose to her cheeks. "No, just headstrong." With a kiss to his cheek, and one to Boudicca's. then she whispered in her ear."You hang on for me....alright? Don't you even think about going anywhere." With that she was bounding down the stairs she grabbed a waist coat, and headed to the stable. "Warren....I need you!" Lash called out to her stable boy, as she ran out towards the horses.
