(Thanks to all who played this out with us live in chat. We're much in your debt. Note: I changed somethings and deleted others to make the story smother and not as long!)

It had been another long, successful night for Natchez. They completely rocked Eclipse, the club none other than Chase Rosewinds frequently played at herself. It was one of those sets where the music took over and the band played on and on and on...well over three hours. Kota was tired as hell, but as satisfied as he'd ever been. Wanting a drink after the show, he and Jade decided to make a rare appearance at the RDI.

He was still in what he wore on stage...vintage black Allman Brothers t-shirt, black New Orleans Saints hat worn backwards, ripped up jeans, and his black boots. In his left hand was his black case which held his acoustic guitar, and his right hand held the left hand of his beautiful wife, Jade.

She beamed up at her hubby, as dirty and sweaty as he still was from the set. She didn't care. Jade was donned in her usual gear she wore when she went to watch her hubby rock. Dark fitted jeans, stiletto boots, and her old old tight Guns N' Roses tee. Her raven locks were freed in loose waves. But those crimson lips, oh they burned a smile. Her hand twinkled about in small waves to those around she knew and those she didn't.

He slowly headed towards the bar, giving his wife's hand a gentle squeeze, still so thankful he had her in his life. And could it be that he was actually causing her to LIKE his band's style of music? Sure, they rocked...just with a bit more of a down south flavor to it. He always gave her hell over the fact that she never liked his kind of music before. Sitting down on the first stool in sight, he set his guitar case down, eyeing around for any familiar faces.

They grooved, and bands that grooved rocked to her. And maybe that her hubby was great caused her to like the music more. She sat in the stool beside her Kota.

For the next hour or so, they spent their time at the inn drinking and mingling with the patrons.

She gave out a content sigh and set her head on Kota's shoulder, "Tis a busy night, love, full of surprises!"

"Absolutely, darlin'..." A hand runs through her jet black locks as he sighed contentedly, then kissed her on the side of the head. "Just glad I have you back for good..."

Right ontop of Jade's head the bright pink little hatchling was dropped. Blink, blink, Chirp?

Another bright smile to her husband, "Nae not a worry, my love. You shall always have me, even when I be not near." Then... blink. Moment over as a hatchling appears atop her head. "Hello, my dear." Crooked smile to the hatchling.

Another chirp, before she Peered down at Jade, then sniffed, before the hatchling stretched her neck out so that she could nuzzle her cheek, seemingly content.

Elessaria nodded, handing over the bar towel to Tara,"Aye, I was going to remind thee about our conversation regarding Jade and Dakota's problem." Her voice dropped more quietly.

Tara blinked, looking back to Eless, "Problem?" Another blink as the memory of their conversation is remembered, "Oh right.....problem."

Eless nodded, "Right. That problem." Blushed faintly at how the whole conversation started off before.

Tara took her hand and marched over to Jadey and Dakota, "Yes, their problem. Come now, Emore. There is work to be done."

Eless squeaked as she's roped into this conversation, already blushing.

"Jadey! Dakota!" Singsong as Tara moved through the crowd.

Her jade hues widened at the stomping and storming Tara. And the worst part? She was coming their way! Jade murmured to her husband, "I fear trouble is coming our way, love." She meeped, pulling her neice into her arms.

Elessaria is dragged as Tara bulldozes her way over to Jade and Kota as only Tara can, "Me? How am I supposed to help?" Tryed to come up with an excuse on the fly, "I do nay know anything about vampires, Tara." Gave Tara's targets a sheepish smile as they swooped in.

The hatchling snuggled into jadey's chest, warm and comfortable. And obviously happy, 'cause she was purring softly.

"Yer there to lend moral support an' to clarify should what I say get confusing, Emore. Yer a pro at that, relax," And then they are both standing there in front of couple. Tara smiled brightly at them and nudged Eless to do the same. Out of the corner of her mouth, she said to Eless, "No, but you are engaged to someone who has spent his whole life killing them an' you are holding the hand of one you know probably better than most."

Dakota just sat there, unworried about a thing.

Tara said to the two, "Hello Jadey. Hello Dakota."

Eless smiled more brightly if a bit stiffly as she's nudged, "Well, yes... but...."

Tara smiled at the hatchling, "Hello 'gain little one."

"How ya doin'...?" Dakota said as his arms rested on his guitar, which in turn was resting on his lap

A friendly little chirp to the hatchling as Eless stood there next to Tara, shifting her slight weight from one foot to the other.

Jade blinked to Tara and Elessy, "Yes, my dears?"

"Hello again," Eless quietly said.

"Better, Dakota, now that the lump on the back of my head is starting to subside. Thank you for asking. How are you?" Tara eyed him carefully. She checked him over to see if he would make good vampire material. Eyes concentrated on his veins, mostly. If she was going to bite him to make that a reality, she had to find a good spot to plant her fangs.

The hatchling peered up at Tara with wide eyes and chirped softly, tilting her head to the side after a moment.

Elessaria nervously glanced from Tara to the couple.

"Yes, I would be delighted to hold you 'gain an' rock you to sleep, little one, but in a little while, okay?" Tara said to Sunset with a warm smile.

"I'm just livin' a dream, Tara.....thanks for askin'..." Dakota was definitely watching her curiously. Oh, she'd have no trouble finding his veins. "I'm playin' music for a livin'...got a beautiful woman. A man couldn't ask for much more.."

Mira Cigargirl tried again after a while of not having spotted any interest, hoping she had not missed anyone, "Chocolate, candy, cigars, cigarettes, Holiday favorites!"

Elessaria pondered making a silent promise not to mind other people's business after this, then sighs audibly, knowing she can't keep it. It's her turn to now give Tara a gentle nudge to proceed.

Jade quirked a brow at Tara's gaze, narrowing her own at her's. Oh wait, beautiful woman? She preened at that. Candy? She waved to Mira, "Chocolaaaaate, Miraaaa! Please!"

Another chirp, and a bob of her head. The hatchling definatly enjoy being held by Tara, and being sun too.

Tara grinned at his response, "Yer an easy going fellow, Dakota. I like that about you an' you are good for Jadey in my opinion. She is special to me, very special, as are you since you are her husband. I know we do not know each other that well but I'd like to change that, if I may, an' in doing so, help you both out because I am a fan of Love. Married fifty times, I come to find it in the most unlikely man who I am not married to an' never will. So when I see people who are married an' who are in love, I tend to want to help preserve that, you know?"

Mira heard Jade and hurried over to her, "Good evening. What kind of chocolate would you like best this evening?"

Tara released Eless' hand to press hers together, looking between Jadey and Dakota.

Elessaria took a teensy step away, spying someone who could save her from this conversation.

"Sure...." Dakota said while nodding slowly as he listened. "And how do you propose that you could help our lil predicament...?"

Tara glanced to Eless, assessing her commitment to this project!

She pressed her lips together, not jumping to anying at the moment. Little swirls of red appeared in her eyes. Her mind was jumping. But at the sight of Mira, the red faded. "Milk chocolate, please." Jade smiled and picked up a small santa bar, "How much?"

Elessaria turned and put on a brave smile for Tara, nodding, "Aye, true love." She was being supportive.

Looking back to Dakota, Tara smiled like she's placing a fast-food order, "I am going to sire you so that you may live forever with Jadey an' make little Jadey's an' Dakota's."

"They are a copper each," Mira returned the smile with one of her own.

There was a peer to what Jadey had in her hands. A sniff, before the hatchling gave a soft chirp. It smelled good!

Eless gave another little step away toward her savior's direction.

He blinked......and blinked again. Was NOT expecting this at all! Kota'd brought the subject up with Jade before and she had seemed to be firmly against it! But then....a calm smile came over his face. He didn't even think twice about this. Setting his guitar down in its case, he stood up. "What do I gotta do....?"

Jade set the copper down. "Thank you, dearheart." Then her eyes lit up red hearing Tara, "You're going to what?" Then she looked to Kota, as he spoke, "What ever that is, you aren't doing it!" Oh, she was hot now.

Tara had to tilt her head back to look up at him now and she is blinking too, mostly because no one's ever been so eager to be bitten by her before! "It's really very simple. You lean down. I bite you on yer neck. Yer mortal body dies. Yer soul is surrendered an' then you...." Gestured, "are immortal. Easy peasy." Kablinked at Jadey, "Uh oh. Why do I get the feeling that you are not down with all this, Jadey?"

Eless spinned quickly out of the conversation while she still could.

The thought of FINALLY being able to have a child with Jade was all he needed to hear. Dakota did not care what he had to do.....of course, the thought of actually DYING sounded a little more intimidating once those words actually came out of her mouth. He then glanced over at Jade as she realized what was going on. "Jade....this is the only chance me and you will EVER have of bein' able to live together forever and have children. We really ain't got much other choice."

After a moment, the hatchling squirmed out of Aunty Jades arms and scampered towards someone else, chirped softly, before she clambered up their pant's leg, and headed for their sholder.

Tara gestures with both hands to Dakota, smiling to Jade, "See? He wants to put a baby in you. I want to help. I love babies. I collect them!"

An eye twitched. She was fuming. Her face was flushed as all the blood rushed to her face. Slow unneeded breaths were suddenly too needed. Jade looked to Tara, "Because its not happening." She looked to Dakota. This would not be an argument. Slowly, she spoke, "Dear, I'm not turning you into that. And Tara sure isn't. If it were to happen, it would be something I'd do myself. And let me tell you something. I'm not like Tara. Even if you were to be vampire, we couldn't reproduce. The only chances of this were to be if I was human."

Dakota looked between Tara and Jade, not having a clue what to say there. "I have no idea how that sheet works....y'all need to figure this out and decide who's right.."

"Dakota, I cannot bite you if Jadey doesn't approve, so think about it, discuss it an' let me know, okay? Jade, I have only sired one other vampire in my time. I do not do this willy nilly," Tara spoke to the couple.

Kota looked towards Jade, more than a little pissed off at the moment. "Are you NOT interested in doin' whatever we have to do to be able to have children? What's the problem??"

The sick part of it was, she actually was trying to help. There was nothing to be gained here for her, which was usually why she involved herself in the business of others in the first place. Everything that came out of Tara's mouth to Jadey and Dakota had been the absolute truth.

Her face lost its color, but her eyes did not lose the crimson. Jade only nodded to Tara, straining her words as she spoke, "Thank you for the offer, but if there should be any siring, it shall be from me." And her gaze snapped to Kota, "Me? I've but only prayed to bear children, Kota! Claira is but a blessing. But I'm not letting you be a monster." Soft snarl, "Actually, if it be your worry, I was thinking of dying as a solution!"

"I'll leave you two to yer discussion now," With a wince Tara stepped back from the arguing couple and heads for someone else who was summoning her.

"YOU dyin'.....? No...HELL NO. That ain't happenin', Jade. I can't go through that...I can't watch that," Dakota said as he lit up another cigarette quickly. Oh, the argument was on, wasn't it?

Thank you Tara for bringing the sore subject out... in the middle of the inn. A swig of her beer was taken before Jade spoke, "Yes death, Kota. But ye could bring me back as human, an' then we could finally live a normal life! I dun care how much of a daywalker I am, it's not normal. An' ye a vampire? Ye couldn't be a daywalker for several hundred years!"

"As much as I've had to endure over the years.....you truly expect me to be able to handle watchin' you go through that? Watchin' you suffer so much pain that you actually stop breathin'....? As much as we've been through together....an' you expect my mind to be able to handle that...? HELL NO...." the husband shouted to the wife.

"An' you think I could handle you go through that transformation?! Kota, you will die. It will break me. If that happened, ye'd be a monster fer the next five years or more. Thinkin' nothin' of blood and killing. You won't even be the same person! And ye think that my death would be worse than that? You think I want ta go through that?" Snarl.

After another long pull of her beer, she glared back to her hubby. She wasn't pissed at him, persay. But pissed at the situation.

Dakota nodded......calmly....quietly. He had nothing else to say, but he did pick up his coat that was slung over his shoulder as he walked into the inn tonight. Reaching into one of the inner pockets of the coat, he pulled out a small lock box. Setting it there on the bar, he stared at it for a long time. Jade knew exactly what it was.

Then she looked back to her hubby. Her now crimson hues widened at the sight of the box, "What the hell are you doing with that out?" Her eyes shifted from him and the box several times. Her mouth hung open, but she couldn't speak.

He didn't respond to her. Instead, he slowly unlocked the box. Leaving it open, he stared at the contents of the box, choosing to not remove whatever that box contained. What the hell was in that box?

She slowly gulped as he opened the box. Her body started to shake as her eyes faded back into green. "Da..kota...?" Her voice quivered as large crimson tears started to stream down her cheeks. "The ritual is written in a book named Hope. I hid it there. You'll need help."

Oh God, no.....she was crying. He had his back turned to her, but he heard her voice quiver. It was more than he could handle. He still wouldn't look at her, but he lifted his head, staring straight behind the bar instead of at the box's contents. He'd pulled his hunting knife that he kept sheathed in a leather pouch along his waist....had been holding it for several seconds. Tears streaming down his face, he quickly took another drink of his beer, slammed the bottle down on the bar, and struggled to stammer these last words. "I love you, Jade..... please.... please come back to me."

And he plunged his knife into whatever was in that box. He used such force, the blade actually went through the bottom of the box, and the entire box was impaled as the blade connected with the bar.

A shriek to end all was unleashed from her crimson lips. She stood, and staggered. She held onto her chest, as it slowly set itself ablaze. Her head was thrown back as Jade fell to her knees. "I..." she stared at her chest as it was consumed with fire and ash. It started to spread about her body, "love you... more."

Small was the girlish laugh that tried to escape her lips. It probably went unheard as another series of agonizing sounds came from her. Ash fell to the floor as her body was engulfed. The small blaze reached her face, consuming her crimson tears and jade hues.

Until she was nothing, but ash upon the floor of the inn. The Jadey was no more.

Kota couldn't watch. He kept his back turned. He knew it was the only way...although he had fought this and fought this with her. He knew she wasn't going to allow him to be turned into a vamp. If they were ever going to have a child together, this was what had to be done. He was sobbing as he heard those last words from her.

Moments passed, and then finally, he stood up, went behind the bar, and grabbed two bottles of Jack Daniels. One wouldn't suffice tonight. He had to drink himself to the point of unconsciousness. It was the only way he'd sleep tonight. Jade would be back....he knew she would.

But tonight....he'd lost her, and it was as though it was his own heart that had been stabbed. Going back to where he sat at the bar, he removed the blade from the box....the heart that he ran his blade through no longer inside the box.

Closing up the box one more time, he placed it back inside his coat pocket, and with his whiskey in tow, he left. God help Dakota Steele. He just ran a blade through the heart of his own wife. But it had to be done.
