It was almost morning. Late. Still. Silent.
Jade had just fallen into a deep sleep. The week had grown busy, from the engagement, the packing, the moving, the emotions. Though she was happy, she was stressed.
And it was paying a toll on her. All she felt was stress lately. It was wearing away at her control, control over herself. Her true self. The monster inside her. It was one thing after another.

Her head rested on Gabe's chest. His heart beat always comforted her. But not in her sleep. Her sleep was not of anything like a human's. In her sleep, she was almost in a dead like state. Deep sleep. But she still dreamed. It could be anything from fluffy kittens to real nightmares. Her's were harsher than anything you could imagine. It was of her past and her future. The monster, the dark, the red. And it was nightmare night.
In her far off place, she couldn't hear the comforting sound of Gabe's heart beat. Only the sound of screams. Screams from her victims. But she saw nothing, only darkness. Flashes of red here and there.
"Make it stop! The screams, the red!" Jade pleaded into the darkness.

As her pleads stopped, her vision blurred and she was thrown into a memory. She was living it. It was her on the ground. There was a strange feeling in her chest. It was not empty. And the thing inside was beating. It was a heart and she was alive. But the beats slowed as her breaths shallowed. She wouldn't be alive for much longer. Jade tried to scream, but nothing came out - her mouth didn't even open. Her neck.... there was a pain in her neck. Her life was draining as the monster ontop of her drained the blood from her neck. But when she was saposed to have knocked out from the lack of blood, the memory kept going.
Jade was cold, so cold. She only had a drop of blood left in her body. Somehow the ground under her in the cool summer night was warmer than her.
"Pretty little girl, you were tasty," a harsh voice said in her right ear as a drop of her own blood dripped from his mouth onto her skin, "But I know you were meant for much more."
There was a crisp clean sound of flesh being cut open. Then the copper taste of blood filled her mouth. The monster's cold skin of his wrist pressed against her still warm lips. From fear of dying and with her last bit of strength, she willed herself to drink. As everything shut down in her body when the change started taking place, her vision went black again. The copper taste in her mouth remaining.
"Stop the memories!" Jade cried.

The red seeped in. And a familiar scream could be heard.
"Jadden no! You don't want to do this! You can't! My neice is not a monster!" She heard Uncle Borus' yells of terror.
Her first kill.
Jade's vision was blurred once more as she was thrown into the past again. She was coming at her Uncle with full force and nothing but animalistic hunger. He was the one who found her after she was turned, her poor uncle didn't know he would be first. He didn't know he would die at his own blood thristy neice. He feared vampires, but he couldn't fear her. He should have feared. By now in the attack the animal in Jade would have already switched and she couldn't control herself, remember nothing. But Jade could see everything she did, though she still couldn't control herself.
She tossed her Uncle to the floor like a rag doll. His kind blue eyes wide in nothing but terror. Seeing his own death. As she sank her fangs in his neck, he only let out a short gasp - but did not scream.
"Jadden dear... you... are not this... monster..." Uncle Borus gasped out in his last short breaths.
Moments later, he was dead.
Being feed, the hunger went away. The monster in her went away. She regained control. Though she saw everything, Jade still played out her memory. She had no control over her moments, her emotions.
She shook away the monster and realized what she had done.
"Uncle?" her as her memory called out to the body below her. She fell to hold the body in her arms. Jade began to sob.
Her first kill. Her first time seeing red. Her first time witnessing her crimson tears.

It was black again. Tears still cold on her cheeks. She was tired of putting up a fight. The red was winning.
"Don't..." Jade whispered. The red knew what she meant.
There were screams again, but it never stayed the same for too long. Never the same voice. Every few seconds it would change into a new victim. This lasted for minutes, maybe it was hours. Then it settled on one. A small girl's.
"No... Not this... any other memory but... not this one," Jade tried to plead with the red again. But the red hated her. For keeping it surpressed for so long. The slip ups, the defending bites were not enough. It wanted innocent blood.

The walls of her mind shook as the roar of the red came crashing in. Her memory of this was saposed to be clouded, but not this time. The red wanted her to see.
She had the small girl pinned to the wood floor. Bethany was only 7. Bethany had befriended Jade, kept her safe from the daylight, made sure no one knew who or what she was, kept her feed. Her tiny scream rattled her to the bone. But it only rattled Jade on the inside, because the outside Jade was an animal and kept pressing harder on Bethany's wrists to hold her still. Animal Jade was enjoying this. Inside Jade couldn't stop this.
"Jade no! I know you don't mean this! I'm sorry I couldn't find you blood in time before you woke up! I'm sorry! You're all that I have!" Bethany screamed before short sobs bubbled from her tiny throat. Her screams stung Jade's ears as she bit into her neck. The screams faded into a rasp. She was almost completely drained and Jade's hunger was put to an end. She came to and realized what she was doing to poor Bethany when the small voice spoke again.
"You were the only thing I had. Mommy... you were the only family I had," Bethany whispered into Jade's ear.
She took her mouth from Bethany's neck as she let go of her wrists. Jade wrapped her arms about the small girl's form before crimson tears pooled in her eyes.
"No no, not Bethany, not the child, not my child," Jade repeated over and over as she buried her face in little Bethany's shoulder. A hand running through her blonde locks.
Jade held her until her tiny body gave out and went limp. She swore she heard a "I love you" in a whisper of breath.

Her vision swam black. She could still feel herself holding Bethany. The the red returned, only brighter, brighter than she ever saw it before.
"Make the red go away!" Jade screamed as she covered her eyes with her hands.
She was thrown back into the bed. Jade jumped up, fully awake. Her cheeks were flushing warm, but cooled by the sweat. She was warm? That only happens when she feeds...
Jade slowly twisted her head around to look at Gabe. The sheets were bloody, his neck torn open - left to right, his eyes open in terror and disbelief. Much like Uncle Borus' and Bethany's. She touched her lips, feeling them. She looked at her fingertips. Blood. Jade began to scream, jarring herself awake - totally this time. She jumped out of the bed, to her feet. She was cold, ice cold. She dabbed her lips and looked at her fingertips. Nothing. She looked at Gabe. Asleep. Alive. But the movements in the bed had caused him to grow restless in his sleep. Jade looked to the clock. 5:45 AM. He was bound to wake up soon.
She pinched herself. Yes, she escaped the red in her sleep. Jade would be tired the next day, but she would take her chances. She wasn't going back to sleep.

She suddenly felt as if she was going to be sick. She had seen too much. Jade shoved her way into the bathroom jointed to their bedroom. Soon bile exited her.
It was red, blood red.
