Jade colored hues popped open, fluttered, then instantly turned onyx of the blackest color. Brows furrowed, as the hand that had propped up her head fell onto the arm rest of the seat she sat upon. She straightened up in her large throne. Jadden looked to each side of her, then jerked her head left with a loud series of cracks. She gulped and realized she was quite a bit parched. Grimace.
"Helen! Bring me my wine!" She barked from her candle lit office.
Within seconds, the elderly vampire maid appeared in the room. Her jaw held itself slack as she looked over the half demon.
"Helen, you forgot something," crimson lips pursed together. Legs shifted and she crossed them to the other side.
"Mistress!" The white haired woman finally said in a gasp. "You're awake!"
"Yes, Helen. And getting annoyed. What have you caught? Because clearly you are ill," hands were brought together and fingertips tapped to their partners rapidly.
"After the fires, you went to sleep!"
"Yes, Helen. I had expelled quite a bit of energy, much more than I was used to. Speaking of, any news about East End?" Sigh.
"Jadden, you have been asleep for months!" Helen practically yelped.
Jadden gave the woman a look. Perplexed. Annoyed. Angry. The fleeting look in Helen's gray eyes gave an answer. She was telling the honest to God truth. Jadden paused in thought and fell silent for some time.
She held up a finger to the elderly woman, "Don't go on just yet. Bring me a large goblet and a bottle of bloodwyne first."
"Yes, Mistress!" She meeped. Within minutes, she reappeared into the room. Helen set the goblet into Jadden's hand then poured the wine in.
Jadden took a set of deep drinks from the goblet even before Helen had set the bottle down onto her desk. "More..." Jadden grumbled as the woman went to step away.
"You came home... went straight to the office... and didn't come out," she said slowly while pouring another glass for her mistress. "I came in to check on you some time later, and you were asleep. You were perched just as you were."
"And you never thought to wake me?" Glare.
"Yes, Mistress! We, all of your loyal servants, hath tried! We shook and shook... tried and tried. You only sat silent, unmoving, eyes failing to even flutter in the slightest. A breathing statue," the woman nodded sagely, white bun bobbing up and down with her.
"Strange... I will have to scry Lady Lilith as to why..." She trailed off, taking in another deep gulp. "Strange dream... She's fighting for a way out..."
"What?"
She shook her head, "Nothing, Helen."
"Oh, and... Mistress, your brother came and visited you earlier on today. I told him you were busy, but---"
She was swiftly cut off, "Brian!?"
"Yes, he pushed me to the side and came down to the caverns. Even with my mad dashes behind him, trying to talk him away. Don't worry, the guards didn't bother with him. They knew not look at him twice, on your old orders. But... it... was odd. He went straight to your office. No directions... Funny, yes?" It all came out quickly, for if she spoke too slowly her mistress would surely bite her head off. This was about her brother, after all.
As Jadden listened, her eyes went off. Onyx hues lit up, as if searching for a memory. Her hand lost grip and the goblet fell to the stone flooring.
"Mistress Jadden?" Helen asked, taking a step towards her.
