She walked through the new section of newest building in Harborage, Storm walking right beside her as Allegria stayed a few paces back giving last minute taskings to a handful of Sergeants.

?Commander Ravenlock? it was going to take time to get used to that last part. She had been happy to go by Your Grace, or Commander Angelique or simply, Commander when it came to being addressed by members of the Town or The COS while on Duty. But since her ?Husband?s? Return and the Family, she agreed and finally let the public get their way, accepting Ravenlock as her Formal Last Name.

She was handed a small folder of papers, dossiers on a few people she?d requested, but the aide kept walking after a nod from Jenai.

They came to a rather large room, the front foyer to be exact. She had wanted a very obvious HeadQuarters. The Hub was taking shape well, the Council Hall, WarRoom, Their Warrant?s and ExO?s Offices, separate of course, Supply and Clerks, and her Sergeants Ready Rooms had all been completed. But a few more still had to be finished. Each room serving its own unique purpose, there was still the Library, the Armourer, Her office that required a few more steps to be considered complete.

The Hub would be the first thing people saw when they entered and a very important part of the COS even in slow times.

?I am pulling out a good amount of patrols within the City. Let the City Watch handle it. We will still maintain a presence, but mostly for allies and our own reasons.? She didn?t have to say what those were. But she would not throw people at problems when the City Watch could do that.

?Where is that Aide?? she stopped and looked around, few people here and there working construction on the interior, and others carrying closed boxes. Jenai snagged one of them with a single word.

?You.?
?yes? Ma?am,? It was a younger man, barely old enough to grow a beard but old enough to have a red burn scar barely hidden under his collar.
?I?m sorry, I don?t remember your name.?
?Dixon Ma?am?
?Dixon,? she?d remember that. ?I need you to do me a favor. Its a dangerous one but I won?t forget it.?
The boy started to lose his color. He was no soldier.
?I need you to find Kerri for me. Ask her to please come see me.?
At first he looked relieved then he recalled...
?The girl with the, ears, and the tail ,and the ..?
?The Woman with the ears and the tail and the.. Yeah Kerri. Tell your Master you are on an errand for me first so he won?t tan your ass. I?ll make it up to him later.?

Jenai didn't waste another minute on the matter and She and Storm started to walk away with Allegria catching up.

?I need you to find me this person right here,? she handed a folder to Gria as she stepped in sync. ?its important. Not only is this a diplomat...?
?A dwarf? Your Grace are you sure?? Allegria blinked.
?Diplomat,? She cut her back off. ? and as you know its for our troops safety, not theirs, we locate them and make sure they arrive comfortably.?

She handed a bit of paper to Storm as the three arrived in a quiet hallway leading to the back offices.

?I need to schedule a sit down with Batten. To all of them that helped I owe thanks. But he was of help and lent a hand to this valley before everything went to hell. We?ll see what these others can do, but if They can?t help, I want to see what Mr. Batten can do for us. I, we, will not be caught off guard again. Please see who we need to talk to to arrange a meeting or, dinner or whatever?? She knew Storm would know exactly what to do and how Jen might be able to arrange things.

?Red!? Came a voice down the hall and rather quickly. Jenai hadn?t even expected that quick of a response. It was hard to explain how she felt about, but this was one of the many faces she thought she would never see again and the thought had cut her to the bone.

?Kerri! I need you to find me one of these that can write, read, sit at the front desk, and make coffee.? She held out a sketch of a man-thra. Done by not just one, but two, sketch artists about 11 years old and what they think a male version of Kerri would look like.

She took the slip of paper she was handed by Jenai.

She nodded to that, ?Yes, Commander Ravenlock.? It was purposely done, just to tease her sister-at-arms and not without a bit of playful humor.

The request would require her dressing in an official capacity. She supposed it couldn?t be helped. Armor would not do though. What to do? Storm never wore anything formal or fancy unless the occasion called for it. She strode into the office set aside for her. She had a dress uniform and formal armor hanging and gathering dust. With the past year, there was no point to wearing either. Now she would need it to present an appropriate image. She locked the office door and proceeded to change out of her more utilitarian outfit.

A few moments later, the Special Operations Warrant Officer was striding out of her office on a mission?

The self proclaimed 'Queen of Mithra Mayhem' took a gander at the picture for about a minute or so. I mean like a straight 60 seconds and all that junk, man. An then she did it again, and then once more for the sheer hell of it, cause that's how she rolled, yo.

?They're getting better, an I like the part where he's wearing heavy duty boots for @ss an door kickin', but sure you want this, Red? I mean a Man-thra?? Come on Red, have ya even seen a man-like Mithra? You know there's a reason we keep em home an all that stuff. It's cause they can't fight for sh*t, and all they're good for is knockin' us up and takin' care of the kits. An they suck balls at the first one! So what are ya gonna do with... oh, you said coffee, writin' and all that sissified sh*t, huh? Well, I guess if it comes to that, I might be able to hunt ya one down, but we need to get somethin' straight, Red.?

The Mithra's emerald eyes landed on Jenai, ?Kerri don't baby-sit baby Mithras dig? I got two girls, an ONLY two girls I look after and that's when I ain't looking out for you an Rav-- Brian.?

?......... Damn, Red you don't gotta look at me like that! Listen I'll get yer kid for yas, so don't go looking at me, like I wizzed in yer bath tub, or somethin', 'kay??

?Sides, Red you already got yer work cut out for ya? Heh, that dwarf chick's, a effin' trip! I aim to party with her proper when this is done!?

Kerri rounded on Jenai with a wiggle of her tailed tush, and was off an runnin!

?One side slack asses, Momma's got work to do!?

A sudden burst of yells, and what sounded like a crate crashing followed.

?He did it!? cried out Kerri, as he laughter faded with her distance.

After Beltane Holiday

Harborage was growing faster and faster and the work was starting to join it in size.

Piles of letters and news bits cluttered her desk. She'd only been gone, what 3 days?! How did it pile up so fast.

Much of it was easy enough. A few things here and there. But the best news was that they would soon be gaining more citizens and more resources. That meant more jobs and more income as the Valley was really starting to take the shape of a small town.

The farms had already begun seeing to the new crops that had arrived. While the weather was a bit cooler in some spots, the shape of the valley actually served as a funnel for some of the warmer air giving it a bit of an earlier spring and the Farmers where eager to get back to work. The Cattle would be arriving tomorrow. Now they would see about getting some other livestock that could live a bit happier in the surrounding hills.

Jenai read over another paper that gave the highlights of a new set of students and teachers that would like to check out the area. She put that aside, she'd let them explore and check the area out in quiet. Giving them a room at the newly finished Inn until they decided. She hoped they would indeed stay, a school of that nature would be most helpful.

A rather small list was next in her hand. Artisans. How interesting! Each having a few different, highly skilled, craft. Jewel crafters to apothecary to candle makers.

"I'm note sure why they would want to come here." she spoke to Gria who sat across the other side of the desk.
"Perhaps it was to get away from the over crowded market in the city or even a slower early retirement." she gave Jen a little shrug as she went over a few papers in her own hands.
"Whatever the reason, We could surely use them here. No sense in these people putting the small coin they can make into the city if it could stay here and help them bloom a little."
"True," Gria nodded. "Not like we have our own bustling economy."

And that's when it hit her. "We don't even have a bank." Jen grabbed a scrap of paper and scribbled one word. 'Roe'
