Mary sat at the bar sipping on some rum. She was dressed in a black corset and a long black skirt with a pair of black combat boots. Her hair was pulled back in a neat bun. Well, neat aside from the few tendrils of stray hair that never seemed to want to stay back. She looked at her watch expectantly. They should arrive at any moment now.

She had already discussed with the lovely Miss Adrienne about their newest employee, and she had agreed to take on the girl as an assistant (a trainee of sorts). Adrienne would be showing the girl the ropes of bar tending. This meeting was simply a formality.

Sandrine escorted Sam inside. Sandrine was wearing her usual snug black pants. Since it was summer time she had taken to wearing a black corset herself, in substitution of her usual more modest wear. But the pants were a must. Sandrine would rather be caught dead than in a skirt.

Words could not describe how grateful she was to Mary for giving Sam this chance. Sandrine had taken responsibility for her when she took her in, and wanted to see her do well. First step was getting her a job. As the Bonny Corporation provided day care for all employees the situation was ideal. Not to mention since Sandrine worked there ? even if it was in secret ? she would be around.

A reassuring smile would be given to Sam. ?That?s her.? Was said as she indicated Mary by giving her an upnod. Together they would approach the bar.

Samantha looked around the club, trying not to appear too much like a wide eyed country girl. She had lived in the city for a few years now, but she had never been to a place like this before. Nervously she ran her hands over her clothes, she had on this new outfit her and Sandrine had picked out.

When they approached Mary she took a deep breath and put her best foot forward so to speak. A confident walk she had, she kept her chin up and wore a friendly smile. Meeting Mary?s eyes she extended a hand in greeting.

A nod was given to Sandrine as she approached. Returning Sam's smile Mary shook her hand. A firm, concise shake. Mary's handshake had always been more like that of a man than a lady. "You must be Samantha B." Mary said in her usual pleasant voice.

She looked Sam up and down once, giving an approving nod. "Sandrine has spoken highly of you so I am going to give you a shot at this. I am sure you will do fine."

"Since you don't have any prior experience as a bar tender we will be training you. Oh and one more thing..." Mary shifted as she pulled out a company survey from a folder she had set next to her. "Everyone who works for us is required to take the company survey. Don't worry about your answers, we keep them confidential. Just fill that out as honestly as you can and you are officially hired."

"Well I guess I'll leave you to it then. I'm going to go wander around... Seems pretty dead tonight. I'll be near though, so if you need anything give me a call." Was said with a wink to Sam. A nod to Mary and she off to check the place out in a systematic sweep.

Sam took a seat at the bar and filled out the answers to the survey. When she was done she handed it over to Mary. "So, when do I start?" Was asked with a cheerful smile. The whole being employed thing had given her a certain glow. Sam was anxious to start work and it showed.

Mary returned the smile. "It is nice to see such enthusiasm. You start right away."

As her gaze shifted to the entrance area she said, "Our bar tender Adrienne should be here any moment. She will be training you. Until she feels you are qualified to handle things alone you will be only working with her as her assistant."

She opened up the door and moved inside rather quickly. Her heels tapped off of the floor as she made her way towards the bar. "Sorry sorry I'm late I got caught up with things." She was wearing a short black dress with strappy heels. A normal outfit for her... while she was working at least. When she wasn't, lately she's been in the cowgirl getup.

Adrienne looked weary if anything now. Her eyes weren't as bright and her skin was losing her wonderful tan. She's been through a lot lately. "This the new girl?" Looking to Samantha with a tired smile. "I'm Adrienne... nice to meet you, yeah?" And she dropped her stuff off in the corner of the bar. "Tell me... what drinks can you make." Before looking to Mary. "Nice to see you Miss Read." Waving to her with a smile.

A smile and a nod was given to Adrienne. "Nice to see you as well love. I will leave you two to sort things out. I've explained to Sam her position with us until she has finished her training under you." Giving Adrienne a wink she added, "She's all yours. Put her to good use."

"I must be attending to somethings." A nod and if there was nothing else needed... She would be on her way.

A smile was given to Adrienne. She liked her, there was something about her. Maybe she were a kindred spirit, or someone she had known from another life... Perhaps it was the fact she was another soul that had been to hell and back and was still fighting to make her own way in the world as best she could.

"Yeah, they call me Samantha B... Or Sam if you like." Was said with a nod. "I don't really have any experience bar tending so just a few things... A screwdriver, a fuzzy naval, a white russian... slippery nipple..." She counted them off on her fingers. Trying to think if there was anything else she had ever made, and more importantly... Made well.

"Well Sam I'm glad you know how to make a few drinks, but you'll really know how to make a good Bloody Mary and locate the bloodwine, and faewine while your here. They're favorites." She smiled to the girl before walking over to the backbar and reaching under it and pulling out a thick book and handing it to her. "This is a bartender's bible. I brought it in here when I heard there was going to be another bartender working under me. Every drink ever thought of, was writen in there. I got that back when I turned twenty."

She smiled. "I have a feeling you'll learn quickly, and welcome to club Babylon." With a wink before she turned to a gentleman who approched the bar. "Let me guess... screwdriver right?" He nodded at her and smiled before she turned and began to throw one together with such speed that it would show off her bartending skill. When finished, she handed it to him. "Sam, you can start taking orders."

The book was taken carefully, as though no one had ever given her something so sacred before. ?Thanks?? Was said quietly. She flipped through it a moment to get an idea how it was laid out.

She watched in admiration as Adrienne prepared the drink with the type of proficiency that only came with practice. It wasn?t just that which impressed her, it was the fact she had known what the man wanted without even being asked. She knew it was important to know you customers well enough to anticipate them. Not to mention it always makes a person to feel important that they are remembered.

?Sure thing.? Was said with a bright smile to Adrienne. Her eyes then moved to a woman approaching the bar. ?What can I get for ya?? The woman ordered absinthe. A nod was given and Sam told her it would be ready in just a moment. At which time she tried to catch Adrienne's eye with one of them significant looks. She clearly had no idea how to prepare the beverage.

She caught Sam's look out of the corner of her eye and smiled at her before turning to reach for a bottle of Absinthe. "Alright Sam...watch the preperation very carefully." She glanced to the woman who ordered. "French Ritual alright with you?" And the woman nodded. Adrienne smiled before grabbing a French Absinthe glass and she sat it on the back bar so Sam could watch.

She then grabbed the Absinthe spoon, which was poreforated and sat a sugare cube one it before reaching for the cooler, opening it, and pulling out a pitcher of ice water. She then carefully dripped water over the sugar cube, which began to fill the glass, not putting any ice in it yet. Once she put three ounces of water in it she then stirred the drink with the absinthe spoon before giving it to the woman, and smiling at Sam. "See? It's in the book too, page twelve I believe." And she turned on her heels to prepare more drinks for the customers.
